Tri Level update, no blog challenge

So due to scheduling conflicts and nasty weather there was no blog challenge showdown #2 but stay tuned for a new victory photo soon with my new Batman partner.

Also thanks for reponse on the Tri Level. It seems there are some super teams being formed out there and even some people playing in Ft. Worth (I thought I was addicted to team tennis)

I am actually still sorting out stuff till Wed so if you are interested let me know it seems everyone is in need of 3.5 players so if you are out there and want to play let me know.

Right now I am just trying to fill up as many teams as possible on that 1st weekend but I might actually end up not playing in that tourney and opt to play in the upper level tourney on my B-day weekend.

Jason Freeman from Houston has put together a team that won the Houston area tourney and will be repping for Houston in the sectional event in February. His team last year won the TX tourney and represented TX in the tourney in Indian Wells, CA.

In order to help Jason and his travel expenses we need to put together a team good enough to crush him and his group. Sorry Jason we must put an end to the dynasty you are creating it is kind of like the NE Patriots or something down there.

  4. Cary,
Where can I go on line and find out, what exactly I signed up for? Is this a "team" tournament format like USTA, or similar to an individual tournament?

  5. There isn't much defined in the current tourney online but if you pull up my name in 2007 and you will see the team I was on "Kirby Martin" Just click in there and you can see how the tourney worked last year. In the lower bracket we will have less teams so we will probably do a round robin so should actually get to play more matches.

  7. I think the date mentioned in the Dallas flyer for Nationals is wrong. The Houston flyer said it was the following weekend in March (during the Houston Major Zone and Easter weekend)....the "final" weekend of the 2008 Pacific Life Open. The 16th-18th would be during the middle of the Open and there would not be enough courts for the Tri-Level tournament (just my thoughts).

Good luck with the Dallas Tri-Levels....I don't think Houston is the city to worry about this time. Austin and San Antonio both had their local tournaments before the final ratings came out and the TTA is allowing them to have players who have been bumped up at year-end ratings play at their lower level in February at Sectionals (even if they were bumped up and lost their appeal). However, I appreciate the "crush" comment :) We barely won each of our own Tri-Level matches (2-1 in all three matches).

    Cheers,
    Belichick

  8. I sent Jane Gilpin an email today asking for clarification on the dates for the National Tri-Level Tournament.

    Subject: Tri-Level Team Tournament Dates

    Hello Jane,

As per my voice mail message this morning -

I would like to verify with you the dates for the National Tri-Level Tournament @ Indian Well during the Pacific Life Open. The attached flier for the 4.5, 4.0 and 3.5 Tri-Level Team Tournament, shows that the dates for the National Tournament will be from March 14th – 16th. I was told this morning that the National Tournament will be held the last weekend of the Pacific Life Open, March 21st – 23rd (Easter weekend).

Please let me know if the March 14th – 16th dates are the correct dates for the National Tri-level Tournament. Thanks

I also wanted to touch base with you to verify that Austin and San Antonio held / played their Tri-Level Tournament before the end of the year USTA computer rankings were published. Can you please verify this? If Austin and San Antonio did play their Tri-Level Tournament before the end of the year USTA computer rankings were published, please let me know what this could have happened? This gives the Austin and San Antonio teams a huge advantage over any of the other cities / teams. Thanks.

    Best regards,

    John Kraemer

  9. You must have a good team John if you are planning your trip to the desert.

I looked at those two teams you mentioned Jason. I believe it was the one from Austin which essentially has no 3.5 players anymore but because they played under their old ratings were able to compete. I think they should just let the 2nd place team go in their place or something.

I am just trying to get a team number since they are all taken her in Dallas in the higher level tourney.

    John,

The correct date is March 21-23. We were given the March 14-16 date prior to my information going out. I will have to correct will all the teams.........thanks for picking this up.

Teams that played prior to year end ratings used early season ratings. I'm sure they had players move up and down just like anyone that is using year end ratings had some players that moved up or down from the early season ratings.

    Jane
