3.5 Final week

So flight A big match final occurs this Saturday. Garland can win or lose and they will be OK but High Point needs a win to stay out of the dreaded QT with Lifetime and Oakridge lurking there. I am not sure who will win the Garland v. HP match, it all depends on the lineup card, both teams have changed lineups all season and I am pretty sure this lineup will be a new one for both teams.

Flight B has 5 teams jockeying for 3 spots although CC/Jolly has clinched at the very least a QT spot and they would really have to screw up not to win this flight. The other four teams GH, GE, SB and OC/Nehlsen can all still get in and they are playing each other which is good since they will have no one to blame but themselves if they join my team one the "Gone Fishin'" boat.

Flight C
BH v. Lifetime. Simple winner goes and the loser stays. Lifetime has to be the favorite but they have been a favorite from the start of the season and they have two losses so I am not counting them as a guarantee in this match.

  1. Lifetime v Brookhaven

My real Question here is who will play for Lifetime.
Lifetime has a Million players on their roster, and I am not sure they even know what their best line-up is,

The only Ringer level Player they have is "Chris W. Tuorto" who lost in 3 to the So-called "Brink Man".
And breezed through his other matches - including a double bagel on Greenhill, so he may have a couple strikes in his pocket, keep an eye out for that.
Lifetime's other singles players are good but not a guaranteed win,

I give Evan "the Karate Kid" Lukasik a good chance of getting the win over Marcus, Whitt, or Mahr . Lukasik has got him self a couple big skins and should have a lot of confidence.

Brookhaven's State High School "ringer" has gotten his ass handed to him a couple times and is MIA, this effects Brookhaven's depth at singles because they are not a large team.

    Brookhaven's Doubles will be

    Michael Kirk
    Timothy Montgomery

    and

    Robert W. Lamson
    Carl Milke
    (who have some 4.0 wins)

Both are good teams and both could win,
Lifetime should in #3 doubles in straight sets,

My Prediction if Tuorto plays Lukasik Lifetime Wins 3-2,

    If Lukasik plays someone else
    Brookhaven gets the upset
    3-2

  2. Garland v Highpoint is the really interesting matchup. I think you will definitely see HPs best lineup.

Garland has nothing to gain so I am unsure what we will see from them.

When I review the two team's lineups it is difficult for me to determine which lineup is best. Both teams have moved their lineups around without giving up too much.

My opinion is that Garland wins fairly easily, regardless of lineup. I think they have too many horses and HP may have three players that could crack Garland's top 10 (I am not even sure who those 3 would be... Jauregui.. maybe (sp?))

Garland has a lot of options and are pretty strong from top to bottom. They really do not have any weaknesses and can throw out a second tier of players that could start for almost every other team.

    Good luck to both teams.

  3. Vanderwater will play line 3 for BH. He is the ONLY player on the 3.5 team that has some 4.0 wins. Probably with Waters. That's a strong line. Milke line 2 / Kirk Line 1. Lukasik for Singles.

Going to be a tough match up for LTF. Interesting to see what LTF will throw out there. I agree. LTF might not even know what their best line up is. I might show up and watch that match. Where/when is this being played?

    ReplyDelete
  4. BH is going to have a hard time if they don't have anybody that can even get a win in a weak 4.0 division.

    ReplyDelete
  5. The match at Lifetime is 2pm.

Marc, your analysis is whack and completely off. Brookhaven is a good team but just as things are in life "The Cream Always Rises To The Top"

But, then again these opinion are just that. Your Opinion. When the dust clears, trust me, we can't wait to see you and Oakcreek in the DCC and take care of business "The Lifetime Way"

    ReplyDelete
  6. Putting my name behind it. I am predicting a 5-0 win by LTF. We have missing players back finally, and a new guy that looks like he should be blocking for the Cowboys, not playing tennis.

    ReplyDelete
  7. After the match your going to have Brookhaven's "Cream" all over your Face!

Please take note I also predicted you down fall to Oakridge as well and called you overated before the season even started.

    ReplyDelete
  8. Stop all of your Lifetime talking because you have not proved anything all season!
You had to chances to show me something, and choked!

    Do these comments look familiar?
    ""Anonymous said...

having played both, Oak Creek has the potential to lose 4 of 5 lines. If Jonathan is on his A game, this could be a surprising lopsided win for lifetime."

LIFE TIME 4 OAK CREEK 1
We are better than Oak Creek at every line. Not bragging, just the truth. If both teams play their best _ we will beat Oak Creek 5-0. Worst case, we still win 4 - 1 and take over 1st place.

If anyone is coming to watch, come early because this match will not last very long.

Proud to be a Life Timer"

LIFE TIME WILL BEAT OAK CREEK 6/7
I don't agree with the logic: Oak Creek beat Oakridge and Oakridge beat Life Time therefore Oak Creek will beat Life Time.

Oakridge was lucky to beat Life Time. (I know Ed will bitch about that, but it's true.) Oakridge won two third set tiebreaks and Prather upset Marcus. If they meet in the playoffs, that will not happen again.

Oak Creek was very, very lucky to beat Oakridge. ALL THREE lines won by Oak Creek were won in a third set tiebreak. If they meet again that will Oakridge will beat them.

Life Time is the best team and they will prove that on Saturday."

The pressure is on Lifetime, Don't Choke again.

  9. I second bmo's prediction. I'm expecting a hard fought but fun matches this Saturday.

Marc's predictions are off, but he is great with the cutting and pasting on posting and reposting previous blogs.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Hey, I knew those other predictions would not come true, cause we had so many people out and injured. That was a someone smoking some serious lifetime weed(and it wasn't me smoking the whacky tobaccie).

We will still have 1 key player out for this week, but I am putting my name out there with this prediction. I know this team, I know this team, and almost all 8 cylinders should be purring this week.

    ReplyDelete
  11. And just for the record, if Andrew Weinstein could have held onto his teeth, we were all tied 3 - 3 on line 3 dubs.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Andrew Weinstein is a real piece of work. He has never won an important match in his life.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Is Brookhaven going to choak again this weekend?

    ReplyDelete
  14. Who gives a crap about 3.5 tennis?

    ReplyDelete
  15. If you do not give a crap... don't read about it. As for those of us who have not reached your mighty level... we do still care. I am shocked that you would take time off from your busy Wimbledon schedule to post on a Dallas League site.

I suspect, Federer might say who cares about ____. Pick your level until you get to top 7.0.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Way to put it poster from 7:11 pm. It's sickening that all of these pros decide to post on our lowly 3.5 level blog. I guess they're also so good they don't want us to know who they are.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Go Brookhaven!!! It is going to be a close match up. It is going to come down to winning one singles match!

    Good luck Evan.

    ReplyDelete
  18. so pc... so pc...

  19. i saw the 2 single guys playing last night at LTF. those guys look GOOD!!! I don't know why they haven't been playing them ALL YEAR!!!

    ReplyDelete
  20. I have no idea how they are though.

    ReplyDelete
  21. If it is that Johan Mudsham guy (and that is the guy that looks like he should be blocking for the Cowboys), I saw him playing Championship Levels at High Point on Sunday and yes he is VERY GOOD. I was curious as to who he was to get him on my 4.0 team next year and then someone told me he played for Lifetime.

    ReplyDelete
  22. With so many good matches this week, you would think there would be more trash talk. THere is alittle between Lifetime and Brookhaven but Garland/Highpoint and all of Flight B is quiet.

Heck there isn't even any civil conversation.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Garland - HP will have no hype or shit talk because its pretty obvious who is going to win. This match won't even be close. I would say 5-0 GTC, but I am thinking they hold back and only win 4-1.

If HP s smart they go ahead and accept the fate and start planning for the QT. HP has nothing to gain by unleashing any secret weapon they might have as that will only give them 1 line - save it and attack in the playoffs.

    ReplyDelete
  24. NO WAY!!! We have our eye on GTC, and are getting geared up for the playoffs!!! Those guys have had walk through matches until now! HP takes it in a tough fought battle 3-2.

    ReplyDelete
  25. How about some comments on Flight B?

The top six teams play each other and five of them have a shot at advancing.

Any good match-ups likely to make the difference?

    ReplyDelete
  26. When are the tidy bowl matches going to be scheduled Carey?

    I believe it is
    El Dorado/
    Stonebriar/Harlan
    Hackberry/Myers
    Springpark/Head

They should schedule during playoffs, and winner gets the tidy bowl trophy to have unceremoniously. Officially the best of the worst.

    ReplyDelete
  27. El Dorado should play Springpark Head. Both are 5-35 with two of their wins by default. That means three lines won all season.

The winner of their match would at least double their wins for the season.

    ReplyDelete
  28. There is no way HP beats GTC. Tell me... who does HP have that can get wins? I think they mayt be able to get a doubles line.

    ReplyDelete
  29. To post 6/26 @ 2:40pm

The singles champ league @ High Point is very weak on the weekends. If you're a decent A2 or A3 level player in week night leagues then you can look like a pro in the champion league on the weekends.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Seriously, who gives a crap about 3.5 tennis?

    ReplyDelete
  31. Duh 3.5 players care about 3.5 tennis - Did you take your stupid pills today or were you born that way.

    ReplyDelete
  32. This is a 3.5 thread.

    If you don't care, fine.

Don't read and don't post on this thread.

    ReplyDelete
  33. It looks like somone is trying to justify their new player... He looks like crap because it is a weekend league?

No, you either look like crap or you look good. Just because the weekend league is weak does not mean a person can look good.

That is bad logic and just opens more red flags than letting the person who said that leave it at what he said. Unless you saw him play, you do not know what either player looks like. By jumping up here, you are showing yourself as a Lifetime homer trying to justify a new ringer. If he loses a bunch of matches in the post season, then yeah... he was just beating up on some marginal competition. Otherwise, I will defer to the player who saw him play and just said that he was good.

    ReplyDelete
  34. I was not trying to justify anything. Nor was it a knock on the quality of play on the weekend league. I simply saw where that "Mudsham guy" was writing about himself and though I would help him get back to reality.

    ReplyDelete
  35. I talked to a couple of the HP/Jameson guys this week, and they were thinking of not even showing up to the Garland match 'cause they were afraid of being beaten too badly. But they decided to send the HP/Jameson Ladies 3.0 team that's kicking butt instead. They figured the ladies have a better chance against Garland than the guys do.

    ReplyDelete
  36. I heard the guys at High Point just enjoy dressing up like women, and are rolling with that to throw off Garland, who are know to be sexually attracted to transvestites.

    ReplyDelete
  37. OC Bi is talking about transvestites... the irony.

    ReplyDelete
  38. LMFAO!!! you and your warped since of humor. that made me laugh out loud!

Is that like Kingpen and the sheep on the side of the bowling alley. The farmers were all lusting and couldn't throw strikes anymore?

    ReplyDelete
  39. Oh yea. I heard those Garland guy's feet stink and that they are really really ugly. HP is going to beat them so badly that they are going to go home and cry to their mommies. So take them apples.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Not real sure about Kingpen (I think oc bi?), but the sheep are are looking real good tonight. Where are the sheep when you need them. I'll wash my feet.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Who cares what the Garland guys look like (unless you're OC BI). It's the sheep you are after.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Ever see Cary in a dress with a sheep penned in the corner. If you think he has a good backhand then...........

    ReplyDelete
  43. What about Cary's ground strokes?

    ReplyDelete
  44. Appearantly Cary's backhand does'nt compare to Cary in a dress with a sheep penned in the corner?

  48. Has anyone heard of the USTA Flex League. The USTA is in the process of staring a pilot program in Miami, San Diego, Indianapolis, New York City, Chicago and Cincinnati. Checkout the following web site for info - http://www.ustaflex.com/ The league sounds interesting. The DTA should participate in this new development.

  49. Oh My!!

    ReplyDelete
  50. I could'nt see John in a dress or with sheep in the corner. I might could see Andy with sheep (poor sheep). John and Andy are pretty cool.

    ReplyDelete
  51. I knew he liked ANIMAL PLANET TOO MUCH!!!!

    Cary's mom

    ReplyDelete
  52. Kingpin was that movie with Woody Harrelson, Randy Quaid and Bill Murray. Really really funny movie. Plus the girl in the show is easy on the eyes.

Watch out when Randy comes back from the refrigerator though... SCARY!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  53. How do YOU KNOW what Cary looks like with a dress on and a sheep penned in the corner?? I think there might be more to this story.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Next time I see Cary at the Rent-A-Sheep Outlet farm, I will ask him about it.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Cary,

With so many hits on this site I have to assume there are a ton of players. Let's coordinate our own tournament for August when the DCC is done and before school starts (or at least see how many would play). 3.0 and 3.5 would play together and 4.0 and 4.5 would play together. You and someone else can likely seed it based on your knowledge of the players. We could play early on a Saturday, late on Saturday, etc. to avoid the heat. Should be a lot of fun. Singles and doubles. What do you think?

    ReplyDelete
  56. I had already been thinking about putting together a your own time and place, Ultimate tennis type tournament based on the challenge ladder players and standings,
I thought I would wait until the dust settled from the spring season though.

    ReplyDelete
  57. This comment has been removed by the author.

    ReplyDelete
  58. The winner of the tournament gets a sheep.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Before or after you get the sheep? I don't like seconds.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Lifetime Fitness whipped up on us (Brookhaven) this afternoon. Lifetime beat us 5 – 0.

    ReplyDelete
  61. High Point/Jameson upset Garland 3 - 2. But Garland did not look like they tried very hard. They already had their spot in the DCC so they "mailed this one in".

    But congratulations to HP!

    ReplyDelete
  62. John,

I like everyone on your team.

My forecast was not about your team. It was about my team. I just knew we had everyone on the team back and in full form. John Depulata (sp?) has some great reflexes and threw out some great reflex volleys on us. Waters is quite the player, and the line 3 team looked like solid players. Line 2 singles were grudge matches with several add points. Both singles took forever to finish and finished way after all the doubles finished.

Sorry we had to put you out of the QT. Wish we were able to serve beer out here. it would have been nice to sit around and enjoy some with your team.

    ReplyDelete
  63. type Both singles were grudge matches...

    ReplyDelete
  64. typo ... jeez... wish i could TYPE

    ReplyDelete
  65. Actually, I agree w/ Marc. I don't think we need a flex league, when we have all these ladders and ways to contact all these players to play, and record the score.

We have a doubles and singles ladder now. I think we can be just fine without them.

I would hate to put the 3 and 3.5 together and 4 and 4.5 together. Having our own league could work just fine. We have all the contacts we need. Ways and the means to get some great play against some great players with the touch of a button already.

    ReplyDelete
  66. I was at the HP/Garland match today. It was a great match that could have gone either way.

Our guys brought their absolute best tennis today. We were fortunate to win.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Greg,

I agree with you and I believe you were an excellent host. Two of the matches were particularly close but both went in High Point's favor. There were definitely some "high 3.5s" from both teams on the court which made for a highly competitive match.

My only complaint was Bob Bender's behavior as a spectator. I know he wanted High Point to win but you don't applaud somebody's unforced error off of a terrible shot. I have no problem with Bob but I was surprised by those actions.

    ReplyDelete
  68. What happens with the sixth spot in the QT since Garland already qualified for cities based on the Fall?

    ReplyDelete
  69. Good Question.

Does it go to Westlake or is it vacant. I hope Westlake does get to play just so everyone can have an additional match.

    ReplyDelete
  70. Greg,
Next time,I will take you up on the whiskey and beer before the match, maybe it will go our way!
    Enjoyed it,keep in touch!!!!Well played!!J.Sisk

    ReplyDelete
  71. just saw the scores. Nice wins for HP and LTF.

Glad I voted from three computers for HP on the poll. Go HP!

Nice going Clay taking down Big John, or should we say little John??

Ashley playing singles, that is interesting but whatever works and obviously it worked this time against a good team.

    ReplyDelete
  72. LTF had some woodshed matches today, yikes!!

How about CC/Jolly my previous fun team to root for dropping out of the DCC and headed to the QT. Gleneagles now heads to the DCC, good for them it has been a while. Congrats to Bob Kayser's team as well for taking out SB, I think they proved in the fall they are not an easy out. They will be tough.

    ReplyDelete
  73. Re: Wood Shed matches

I'm seeing 3 possible strikes on LF Chris W. Tuorto,

    Thoughts?

    ReplyDelete
  74. Brookhaven 3.5 has a very strong team and they were just crushed by Life Time. Great job all at LTF !

I would have liked to see Brookhaven in Flight B. I think they could have won Flight B and made the DCC. At a minimum, they would have made the QT. Bad luck Brookhaven!

    ReplyDelete
  75. Not so much on Tuorto. Prior to Saturday, his last 3 wins were against sub par teams and players. People that he beat did not even have something close to resembling a winning record. 1 of them which not only never won a match all year, but never even took someone to a 3 setter before losing.

The teams that were competitive gave him tough times. Brinkman beat Tuorto and Brinkman had close matches against Waters and some others. This should show he is a strong/competitive 3.5er. If the guys he beat were studs, with the exception of Lukasik, there could be issues here. Lukasik might have been off, or Tuorto on for 1 match.

If nothing else, I think you can at least say that LTF makes no attempts to sandbag their match play. So, looks like what you see is what you get with lifetime.

    ReplyDelete
  76. I was thinking the same thing on Turotuo. Even his match with Brink Man.. he won the first set 6-1 and I suspect had it been a real three setter, he might beat the Brink Man. Also, Brinkman has shown that he is pretty darn good.

    ReplyDelete
  77. I was really surprised to see LBH beat Canyon Creek/Jolly. LBH has a good team but has not made too much noise this year.

But today they were able to win THREE match tiebreaks to knock Canyon Creek out of first place. Nice job LBH!

    ReplyDelete
  78. What the hell happened to unbeatable Oak Creek today.I thought they had an unbeatable team but losing to Greenhill?? Sounds like a questionable result!! Any comments

    ReplyDelete
  79. Wow! that Oakcreek match does look a little suspect. 4-1 with major blow outs by a barely mid level team? I see sandbagging all over this!!!

    ReplyDelete
  80. Yes Oak Creek just wanted to look good for the DQ board, but their whole team should be bumped anyway. It's a little too late to try to look 3.5, losing the last match of the season to a sub par team like Greenhill. Oc Bl what's up?

    ReplyDelete
  81. You guys have it all wrong... GH has been sandbagging all year and they are now unleashing their guns before the playoffs. Greenhill is ona roll and won't lose another match.

    ReplyDelete
  82. If Westlake Haney rounds out the
6th playoff spot, then it looks like the playoffs will be -

Lifetime, Greenhill & Westlake in one division and Oakridge, Canyon Creek and GlenEagles in the other division. Friday night matches should be GH & Westlake and Oakridge vs Glen Eagles.

If Westlake doesn't make the playoffs, who knows what will happen.

    Bob Kayser

    ReplyDelete
  83. It looks like both Canyon Creek teams in with Oak Ridge and the other flight should have Lifetime,Westlake,Greenhill.Gleneagles got lucky when Canyon Creek CHOKED away their match in tie-breaks GOOD LUCK to all the teams in QT.

    ReplyDelete
  84. I stand corrected - it is Canyon Creek Carmen instead of Glen Eagles. I can't read my own notes. BK / GH

    ReplyDelete
  85. OC
    Garland
    HP
    Gleneagles

These are the four teams in the City Championships. I still like Garland in the round robin format. I think Lifetime will get the QTpositiona dn really think they will get the other sectional slot. The only problem is if they get a DQ. Lifetime at full strngth is as godd as anyone.

    ReplyDelete
  86. So, if I understand correctly. 2 teams come out of the QT, correct?

And the winner of each flight? So, in example, oakridge and lifetime could both end up in cities, correct?

    ReplyDelete
  87. Only 1 team comes out of the QT

    BK - GH

    ReplyDelete
  88. Oak Creek 3.5 has no integrity whatsoever. They totally TANKED against Greenhill. It couldn't be more obvious.

    ReplyDelete
  89. There is no benefit to OC tanking? Unless they were just trying to keep their ratings down somehow? What would be the purpose? Although, it does look to me like a tank, I am not sure WHY they would tank.

    Any enlightenment?

    ReplyDelete
  90. It certainly does look like OC dropped one on purpose. Had they used their weakest players it owuld have been more understandable.

Gil Flores has a history of not finishing matches due to cramps so that may be what happened there. Carlisle and Hewes are pretty good but I doubt they are 6-1, 6-1 better. Line two was a three setter, that is not usually a "tank" and if it is... it is a really bad one. On line three, that is a case of probably just sopme really bad tennis.

    ReplyDelete
  91. Obviously the Oak Creek players were tanking to try to avoid getting bumped uplater this year. That's the only reason for tanking.

Greenhill's players are extremely weak. Oak Creek is very strong. No matter how you spin this it looks like a tank job. Only Marc really played.

    ReplyDelete
  92. No worries, we'll have a sheep that evan the sheep don't like (for second place).

    ReplyDelete
  93. When Cary lived in S. Cal, he used to come by because I had the only sheep in s. cal and they got lonely. But for some stange reason he would always came by in a dress. That's all-nothing else-end of story. Cute, cute, cute. Come, see my sheep some time Cary, now that your team is "home for the holidays" Love, you know who.

    ReplyDelete
  94. Garland and Sisk are CHEATERS. You guys tanked that match and YOU KNOW YOU DID!!!!! It WILL NOT help you next year because I'm calling Jane.

    ReplyDelete
  95. I heard from a LTF guy whinning and crying. All I know is you guys need to lay off Cary for wearing dresses. I see nothing wrong with that.

    Jane

    ReplyDelete
  96. You're right. Garland's line 1 and 2 doubles both tanked. The line 1 team saved three match points only to tank on the last one to make it look less obvious. Then, the line 2 team came all the way back from 8-2 in the third-set tiebreak to lose 10-8 on purpose. If you were going to tank, why bother going to tiebreak?

    ReplyDelete
  97. ummm I think that was a 4.0! Lifetimer about scheduling problems for some1 flying back early from vacation Jane. nothing to do w/ LTF 3.5 people, nor the other stuff.

    ReplyDelete
  98. sheep? uh Ok. I wish I had a pic to post but unfortunately do not.

I am pretty sure Garland didn't tank any games, no point in tanking 5-7, if you are truly trying to lose why not 0-6 or 1-6. I just think they showed a little vulnerability but they lost their last regular season match last year to HP I believe as well and still went on to the QT and did fine. this year they don't even have to go thru the QT (lucky for them).

    Any schedules yet???

    ReplyDelete
  99. Official schedules come out on Wednesday, per Jane

    BK / GH

    ReplyDelete
  100. I don't think Garland tanked either but I still think they are the favorite to win the city tournament. They have more youth than HP and that will matter in a weekend long round robin format.

    ReplyDelete
  101. I think HP is the third best team and the QT, which will likley come out of Flight C.. Lifetime ahem... will be better than HP.

With that said, HP certainly showed some grit. The scores look like it was extremely close and could have gone either way.

    ReplyDelete
  102. no love for HP?? I don't even think that was their best lineup and they still beat what was considered to be the best team and so called cheaters. I am not saying they are a shoo in for sectionals I really think Garland, HP, OC and Lifetime are all pretty even and Oakridge is right there as well. I wouldn't be shocked to see any two of those teams move onto the next round. And last time I discounted Kayser's team he beat HP and narrowly missed being the fall champ last season so who knows. If anyone thinks they are the favorite they might want to think again at the 3.5 level.

now @ 4.0 there is one real fav and the rest are chasing them. Go Lakes! Jk, Go HP! Still love the Lakes though. Sorry Spk, still waiting on my free beer then I can spread the love.

At 4.5 there is also a true fav with a bunch of teams scrambling to catch OC/Branch. Mr. AR/hacker is calling them out for keeping it close and come July they should put away the powder puffs and start crushing some teams.

    ReplyDelete
  103. I agree that they can put a better lineup out there. There are a couple players that I wondered where they were.

    ReplyDelete
  104. Doea anyone know if Westlake makes the QT or not?

  105. almost a given you can never gather your top 8 for every big match. injuries, vacations, etc.

Until we get those big salaries for star USTA players it is always just hoping you can put your best group out there. but that is kind of what makes it intersting. I had a set schedule I kept to myself before our season started that had somewhat even playing time for all but by the end of the season I had some who had played 1 time and others who had played 5-6 times and it all had to do with who was available.

  106. 3.5
Qualifying Tournament - In the QT, teams finishing 2nd or 3rd place within each flight (six teams in total – divided into 2 round robin flights of 3 teams each) compete to determine one “wildcard” QT winner.
City Championships – The 3.5 City Championships will be either a 4 or 5 team round robin. Competing in the City Championships are the three teams which finished 1st in their respective flights as well as the wildcard (QT winner) team. In addition, the winner of the fall league from the prior year also advances to the City Championships. If the fall league winner finishes 1st in their spring flight, the spot of the fall league winner is vacant in the City Championships.

  107. hmm. I am reading this and I still don't know the answer. It mentions Garland and because they lost their will be 5 teams in the round robin, but do they count as a finishing team in that flight????

    ReplyDelete
  108. sorry too much drinking this weekend, after reading this again Westlake is definitely in because the DTA says there will be a total of six teams so unless Garland is playing in the QT for fun then Westlake will be there. Can you say cannon fodder? I wouldn't be mean but I got on their bandwagon in the fall and they burned me.

    ReplyDelete
  109. After reading that I still am not sure. It also says those who finish 2nd and 3rd. Westlake finsihed 4th.

  112. oh..I did have something to say! Great job HP in their win! I hope no one files any grievences with your team since you beat us in some close matches. Ha Ha (joke)But, hats off to your team! It is going to be a competitive city championship!

    ReplyDelete
  113. I can't imagine any grievances being filed against HP. I am sure someone will but who knows. Are you trying to say that you guys are trying to file a grievance?

    ReplyDelete
  114. I am pretty sure he means since someone is asking all coaches to file grievances against the dirty cheaters of Garland - HP must ALSO be cheaters since they beat them. He was being sarcastic.

    ReplyDelete
  115. I know there were some emissaries of other teams that were very interested in both GTC and HP. It will be interesting to see what does happen. One such person thought both teams were better than any other team they had seen. It would not hurt any feelings from the other teams if a player or 2 were unavailable for DCC.

    ReplyDelete
  116. Who is going to win the 3.5 QT? I can tell you that it will be the team who wins the most matches. I am going to be on that team, may have to move around to different team during the QT, but I'll be there. I might even be a 3.5 player, you never know.

    ReplyDelete
  117. Lifetime wins the QT.

    ReplyDelete
  118. i like Lifetime to win it but it will be very close, probably come down to the Oakridge rematch and I hope I can come see it.

I do have a sheep $%$%ing appt but I will do my best to drop by.

    ReplyDelete
  119. Oak Ridge has beaten Lifetime twice in very close matches what makes you think they cant do it again??? My guess is they do it again the same way. We will see.

  120. Cary,
Who in the Q.T.should we be scared of? 200.00 to your 100.00 says we beat them!!!!!Hp has strong players and great guys!!!They are the only undefeated team in the city, they are the team to beat!

  122. I watched the Garland vs HP match on Saturday and was appalled at the level of play demonstrated by Glenn Flora and Zack Courtney. Both are 4.5+ level players and way out of level at 3.5.

I've never written anything negative about Garland but what they are doing IS cheating. Now I understand why so many people hate Garland.

Also the guys like Delira and Noel who defend them on this website are just liars. They are worse than the guys actually doing the cheating.

But don't take my word for it. Watch those two guys, Flora & Courtney, during the playoffs and you will see for yourself. WHAT'S GOING ON IS OBVIOUS.

    Andrew Weinstein

    ReplyDelete
  123. GLENN FLORA and ZACK COURTNEY
You should both be ashamed of yourselves! Why would two young guys (maybe 25?) who play tennis at a 4.5 level want to beat up on old 3.5 players? YOU GUYS HAVE NO DIGINITY OR SELF RESPECT. I know John Sisk promised you a trip to Nationals, but THINK ABOUT WHAT YOU ARE DOING!

Flora and Courtney _ what's next? Picking pockets? holding up a service station? Does your mother know what you are doing???

Seriously, what's wrong with you guys??? Any decent person would want to play at a COMPETITIVE level.

    ReplyDelete
  124. It is really too bad that John Sisk felt the need to cheat so badly this year. The competition is actually very close among teams, except for the two former HS tennis stars (Flora and Courtney) that play at a 4.5 level. And tanking one match vs HP does not change anything.

John has a very strong team without those two ringers. But I guess that is not enough for John. He wants a sure thing and does mind cheating to get it.

So all the other 3.5 teams are playing for 2nd place. (Some just don't know it yet.)

    ReplyDelete
  125. I do wonder about Corey "Nancy" Noel's attraction to the 3.5 Garland players . . .

    ReplyDelete
  126. I also watched the HP vs Garland match and, in fact, sat in the bleachers for a while with the Graland fans. I agree with Andrew, that Flora guy plays at least at a 4.5 level. He easily could be playing for Cliff Branch. For Flora to play 3.5 is a bad joke. And Zack Courtney is just as good. Both hit with top spin and tremendous power both forhands and backhands with excellent control. Both have awesome serves!

    ReplyDelete
  127. Garland and John Sisk just SUCK for what they are doing. I hope both of those guys get a Dq in the playoffs it would serve them right. Cheaters always get caught lets hope it happens soon!!! LOVE CORY

    ReplyDelete
  128. So I tried to post something to get your minds off ragging on Garland, etc but I guess it didn't work.

John I thought I was actually nice to you all in my thoughts on your match but I can't help it you choked it away.

Way to defer to HP as the team to beat, don't worry no one is overlooking you or calling you an underdog so don't even try that rally cry.

As far as Flora and Courtney, I haven't seen them and I am pretty sure they will get beat in the DCC or at sectionals by the teams from houston and Austin.

As far as our match John, we will contact you when the time is right. Kirby has two teams getting ready for the playoffs as does your group and corey's as well. My knee is better but lateral movement isn't all that so I actually move like you right now so I don't think I will take that match.

I do owe Rock Jock a rematch beatdown and Mr. Molina as well will play me in the battle of the injured knee players.

Curious to know if that was Andrew who posted before because he has seen and played on teams with out of level players so he would know best.

Maybe the DQ season is not over quite yet.

    ReplyDelete
  129. If Flora and Courtney get beat what will that make those guys.Vijay and Jacques both got killed by the waco team at sectionals!!!!Then waco got beat!

  130. John,

Don't listen to this crap. Most 4.0s, much less 3.5s, don't have a clue as to what constitutes a 4.5 level player. It very easy to throw around crap like "he is a 4.5 player," "he hits with spin," etc......it is meaningless and don't pay any attention to it.

Great job recruiting and keep your team focused on winning and not on the negativity coming from jealous underachievers.

In order to compete at sectionals (if that is your goal) you must have a couple of guys that make other teams complain. Every successful team has them at every level.

Also, I would simply ignore anyone who posts negative comments on any blog about you. It does you no good to respond. These people are already convinced that you are cheating - nothing you say will change that.

    ReplyDelete
  131. john can't ignore posts, he's got thin skin. But I do agree with the previous poster. All you can do is throw your ringers out there and hope for the best.

As we learned last year and as I learned even more this season at 4.0 and sadly at mixed doubles as well, it doesn't matter how pretty your strokes or how much better you are than the player across the net, you still have to beat them. Players who are playing at the DCC and at the sectional and national have learned how to win in some form or fashion. I have beaten players with better strokes than me but have unfortunately lost to some who don't have better games than me. (i.e. my last two Sundays at mixed, yuck!)

    ReplyDelete
  132. Since I played against John S last year I can say to be a tennis player & capt. he has a terrible attitude on the court & it starts from the very first serve. Beating him & his partner soundly was not for the "team" but my partner & myself. Won't be playing against him this year, but if so, would enjoy serving the same dish to him this year. After meeting him, I have no doubt he will do whatever it takes to win, legal or not. Ambassador for tennis, I don't think so.

    ReplyDelete
  133. I crack up at the fact that some idiot actually believes that Glen and Zack kept their matches close to hide from being DQ'd. I guess they kept it close by going into tie breaks.

Andrew your opinion about those players being 4.5 is way off. Just because someone can hit with topspin and you cannot does not make them a 4.5 and topspin is a fundemental aspect of all groundstrokes. Come on! Get real?

I applaud you not hiding behind an anonymous poster with your words and I understand what you may be thinking about Zack and Glen but you have no ideal what can be facing the winner of DCC at the Sectional level. You would be beyond "appalled" at the level of play Waco and NETX and Houston and Amarillo brought to Dallas. So, be careful what you say! It is a whole different ball game at the Sectional level. But, I will not expect any understanding from any of you as to what is needed to get to or even beyond Sectionals. Rather, just continue to call us cheaters and keep bagging on John even though you have no ideal how nice of a guy he has always been.

I am wondering why we are still cheaters even though we got beat by High Point.Oh! I forgot we threw the match to hide what we have...jeez!

    ReplyDelete
  134. Dear Jock Between you and Cory Noel you guys are as Randy Galloway says The biggest BUTT LICKERS around. Hope the dq people catch up with all the 4.0-4.5 level RINGERS on all the playoffs teams maybe that will even the playing field for all the legit teams out there. But probably not because the self-rate system SUCKS.

    ReplyDelete
  135. Butt Lickers...yes! and your mom loves it too!

    ReplyDelete
  136. andrew has been to sectionals before with a few ringers you might have heard of Eddie Hill and Doug Smith and a few others. They didn't make it out of their flight.

Sectionals is tough and dallas won't make it out this year either.

I know rock joke has been as well like 5 years ago as well as last year, and he is still playing 3.5? is beating up on old men really that fun?

I do agree 3.5 has become somewhat of a joke, luckily 4.0 and 4.5 is a more level playing field, somewhat. So come out of the kiddie pool and jump in the real pool. I truly doubt Zack or Glenn could hang with 4.5s in your area or real 4.5s down here in Houston or Austin or wherever I might play these days.

    ReplyDelete
  137. Non dallas site...unfortunately I will have to agree with you. Yes, I have remained a 3.5 player. I did get bumped up one year and then lost just about every 4.0 match ever played except for the year I came in second place at the village tournament..Ha Ha but there were only 3 players in the draw. My game sucks at the 4.0 level it is all mental..but I do enjoy playing at the 4.0 level more than 3.5 so do not look for me in 3.5 after the season is over. I am done and hopefully I can end it by at least making out of the sectionals and shut, Houston and the rest of the teams,up! So, look to beat up on RockJock next season in 4.0 all you haters!

Cary, You will not win the next challenge match!

    ReplyDelete
  138. As good of a 3.5 as Eddie Hill was last 2 years, he was still not a 3.5 ringer at the sectional level (although he was a top player), so if you think Zack and Glen are then you are crazy and/or clueless.

    ReplyDelete
  139. Cary,
I know you have not seen these guys, but FYI . . . the two HS tennis superstars (Glenn Flora and Zack Courtney) could beat the crap out of Kyle Bowman. That's how good they are and that's how badly Sisk has cheated in order to win.

    ReplyDelete
  140. Look, here are the facts:
Last year John Sisk's Garland team got beat at Sectionals and probably lost to some real ringers. Also John has feelings of inadequacy because he has a teenie weenie.

But that does not make it OK for him to ruin the local competition. The guy does not have any sense of fair play.

    ReplyDelete
  141. PROPOSAL TO JOHN SISK:
We understand that you have added two superstar players (Flora and Courtney) in order to compete with the ringers we all expect to see at the Texas Sectionals.

You know and we all know that those two guys are way out of level at 3.5. If you play Flora and Courtney at City Playoffs there will be an uproar from all the teams you play and Tosha Smith will get a lot of irate phone calls. YOU WOULD BE VERY UPSET ALSO IF ONE OF THE OTHER TEAMS IN TOWN PLAYED GUYS LIKE THAT AGAINST YOU.

I propose that you agree to NOT play Flora or Courtney during the City Playoffs.

You have an excellent team w/o those guys and we can all compete on an equal basis. The top TWO 3.5 teams advance to Sectionals and your team would be a heavy favorite to be in the top two even w/o your young superstars.

Then when you advance to Sectionals, roll out your superstars to match up aginst the ringers from Houston, Austin, etc. And we will all be cheering for you.

You KNOW those two players are too strong for 3.5 and everyone who sees them play will know it also. (Even though they try to keep the scores close, everyone will see how good they are.) BUT YOU STILL HAVE TIME TO DO THE RIGHT THING.

Please rsepond with your answer. We don't think you are a bad guy but we all think Flora and Courtney are far too good to play 3.5 and we do not want to see the City Playoffs become noncompetitive. Most of us are not thinking about Sectionals, we just want a fun, competitive City Playoff.

    ReplyDelete
  142. John,
LET THEM PLAY!!! Speaking from a player's perspective. I would rather compete against someone or anyone in 3.5 who is not afraid to actually HIT the ball, as opposed to the slice, push, medium to slow pace that I see on a regular basis.

One of the most fun matches I ever had was against one of John's players by the name of Jonathan Patrick. All we did was nail ground strokes back and forth. That was fun.

I personally look forward to playing against anyone who is either at the top of the 3.5 chain or top of the 4.0 chain.

    ReplyDelete
  143. If Flora and Courtney play at the City Championships they'll be gone before Sectionals.

Let's see if John is a decent enough person to do the right thing.

    ReplyDelete
  144. To the last poster...You have got to be kidding. Like they are ever going to give into your ridiculous demands...they played Flora and Courtney and Don their so called ringers and still lost..believe me Garland wanted to send HP into the QT and not put an end to their undefeated season. So, believe what you want but you are going to see those guys in the mix for the Cities. Poor losers always scream foul play. What a joke this blog has turned into. I thought most men acted like men but my perception has changed based on what I read on this blog. I have never seen so many grown men whine and bitch and moan...am I on the right blog or is this the cry baby bitch I can't win because everyone is better than me blog?

    ReplyDelete
  145. 1:10 pm poster..I can not believe what I just read...you are not concerned about the sectionals so therefore Garland should not put their best line-up out so that you can maybe win a match or 2. That sounds totally ridiculous. Are you for real?

    ReplyDelete
  146. Dear God, which pussy 3.5 captain is actually asking another captain not to play his best players? Please give us your name so you can be publicly ridiculed for your ridiculous proposal.

Sisk, please beat the living shit out of any team you face in the playoffs.....5-0!!! But make sure your ringers have matches with competitive scores so Dallas might have a shot at sectionals.

    ReplyDelete
  147. I was waiting for this blog to turn around on me after all my defense of John. I could care less if somebody wants to say John's players are too good or not, what I will defend him about is when people attack the character of John and his teammates.
So far everybody that this blog has complained about (George, Glenn, Don, etc.), with the exception of Zack Johnson, has lost this season. None of these losses were intentional.
Garland loses to High Point, and now we have 20+ posts attacking Garland. Where are the complaints about the guys that beat Glenn or Don?
I agree that asking a captain to not play his best players so you can win is ludicrous. I do applaud Andrew for putting his name on a post that is critical, but if you saw the match you have to agree that neither Zack nor Glenn were losing on purpose. Zack was trailing 4-1 in the first set.
John, like myself, spends hours a day thinking of how he can improve his team to help them succeed. His players answered all the self-rate questions accurately, and the system recommended these players to start at the 3.5 level. Neither Zack nor Glenn were Champs or Super Champs as Juniors, and neither played college tennis. As I said before, their results have not been outstanding this season.
Finally, for the player who said that John has a terrible attitude on the court, you must have seen him on one bad day out of 100. There is nobody I would rather play with in doubles at any level. He is the most jolly and respectful player on the court that I've ever played with. He has not once criticized me for a bad shot or been discourteous to an opponent. I find it highly dubious that you have ever even played John, but, as usual, you didn't post your name so we don't know.

    ReplyDelete
  148. My favorite line is the one that has "3.5" and "superstars" in the same sentence. No person on ANY 3.5 team, even the one that wins nationals, is a superstar. Great players - yes, competetive at 4.5 maybe, but superstar no.

Flora and Courtney are good, but they are not as good as Vijay or Oberto from the last few seasons. It has already been shown these guys are beatable, so to hear someone make this request shows how weak these other 3.5 teams are.

    ReplyDelete
  149. Corey "Nancy" Noel
You are a liar. I SAW THE MATCH and Zack Courtney could have easily won his match 6 - 0, 6 - 0 if he wanted. He gave up plenty of points and games intentionally. The tanking was VERY obvious. And Flora is better than Courtney.

Courntey and Flora are FAR, FAR out of level and you are just lying to protect them. When everyone sees them play at the City Championship, their cheating and your lies will be obvious to everyone.

    ReplyDelete
  150. Flora and Courtney are FAR better than Vijay and Oberto. Don't listen to the Garland liars trying to justify and downplay their cheating.

    ReplyDelete
  151. Corey, More Garland BUTT LICKING!!!

    ReplyDelete
  152. Oberto wasn't that great, i think he has shown at 4.0 that he was no 3.5 ringer. He is a solid 4.0 but had a 4-2 record and both losses were not close. He is a tough and scrappy player but no ringer.

I think he got a reputation and players got scared in the fall but he is playing at his correct level now, too bad John didn't save him, they could use him at doubles now.

    ReplyDelete
  153. Garland got just what they wanted against High Point _ a close loss. The match result meant absolutely nothing to Garland.

Garland deserves every bit of criticism they are receiving on this blog and maybe more.

Also I'm glad to see bloggers identifying the liars who are trying to place positive "spin" on Garland's unethical behavior.

    ReplyDelete
  154. Garland may deserve all this grief.. but do the readers of this blog really deserve it?

  159. To all you pussies out there with clearly nothing more important in your life than amateur 3.5 tennis, understand this. Every sport has cheating or speculation of it. College football has recruiting violations, the Patriots "camera" in the NFL, steroids in baseball, doping in cycling, anything and everything in NASCAR, and Tanya Harding in figure skating. Everyone is trying to get an edge. Why? Because no one likes losing.

If you can't beat 'em, cheat 'em. Or maybe, just try and get better.

Last time I checked there is no money awarded for winning squat in USTA. Do the winners of city, sectionals, and so on get a parade in Dallas and the cover of Sports Illustrated? I guess its just the overall feeling of inadequacy your life takes on when you come in second and then have to wait until next year.

Maybe it would be best for all of you cry babies to go to the bath room, rub some desitin on your ass, put on a diaper, grab your pacifier, turn on Baby Einstein and try to get some sleep before your mommy wakes you up for your next feeding.

That is the kind of logic dirty cops use to justify their actions.
(We can't do our jobs unless we break some laws)

If you need to sandbag, tank, fudge scores and lines to compete with other Texas or national teams I say let them have it.

I'm sure by the time you get there you will not be proud of your web of lies and the farce of a team you created.

Personally If I had 4.0 or 4.5 talent I would be ashamed of having my name on a 3.5 trophy.

  163. As usual, I use evidence to back up my points while the rest of you use hearsay, namecalling, and assumptions to back up yours. As soon as Glenn or Zack beat somebody who is a benchmark 3.5, then you can say they are 4.0 players. Until then, you have no idea. Do you really think a captain could convince two new guys to join a team and lose on purpose? Who would sign up for that? I have no problem defending Garland's team and captain, because, unlike the vast majority of you, I actually know these people and have played against them.
Either way, this blog is becoming strictly a place for entertainment instead of what it started as, a place to talk about team tennis.

    ReplyDelete
  164. Fortunately, there were a lot of people at High Point that saw Flora and Courtney play. I watched them and so did many others. NONE OF US ARE BLIND. It is obvious to everyone that those ringers are light years better than 3.5. And all those people who have seen Flora and Courtney play know that you, Nancy man, are full of crap.

City Playoffs will be attended by a lot more of people and the cheating and tanking will become even more obvious. And that means that more people will understand what kind of person you are. Cheaters and those that that support them can't hide forever.

    ReplyDelete
  165. John,
You do not have to cheat. There is still time for you to do the right thing. If you play fair, you will appreciate your wins a lot more. If you cheat by playing guys that way out of level, what have you really won?

  170. Without Highpoint in the QT,
This is a yawn and wait until Sunday for the Flight B OakRidge v Lifetime Re-Match/Grudge match.

  171. Yeah..we kept are loss close by sandbagging in third set tie breakers and losing on purpose to high point. You have no idea that with all the shit talking you "F" cry babies have been doing how badly we wanted to send high point and loud mouth Bob Bender (bad sportsmanship) to the QT"s. Zack and Glenn answered the registration questions correctly. I know the grievence has been filed against Zack and maybe more to come. It does not matter for me the bullshit this 3.5 blog has started. Garland has remained a top team in 3.5 play for the past 3or 4 years and will continue to strive on getting better for 4.0 play. But, rather than work on your games the losers are resulting to filing grievences.

I would say see you at sectionals but all the losers complaining obviously will be at home thinking of ways to blame others for their losses.

  172. I agree with you, 3.5 looks to be a wait until Sunday thing between LTF and Oakridge. Kayser and Jolly have a shot but CC/Carman and Westlake would be like 2000 to 1 shots at even making it to Sunday.

  173. Hey, this is Andrew Weinstein here. For the record, the post attributed to me earlier in this thread about John Sisk's team was someone else using my name to spew their venom. John's a good guy and I wouldn't talk bad about him.

Cary, you should do away with the Anonmymous postings and make people own up to their comments.

As for the comment about not winning any big matches, please refer to the 2006 Fall Championships. Brian Morrison and I won in a third-set tiebreaker at #1 doubles over Richard Waters and Ken Krivacic. We took the court half an hour after everyone else and when we started the second set it was apparent that our match would decide the championship.

And what big matches has Anonymous won?

    I can't take it anymore.

  175. Oakridge vs Life Time on Sunday should be fantastic match. When do tickets go on sales?

    ReplyDelete
  176. Lifetime and Oakridge have to win some matches first. They may be favored but lets have them take care of business before we annoint them.

  177. Andrew,

John told me he did not expect those kind of comments from you. He said you were a good guy. That is precisely why I campaigned for removing the anonymous postings, because anybody can claim to be somebody and say whatever they want. This is already happening on the Houston blog.

Every team in the city championships has players playing out of level, that is how they got there. This is nothing new. The 3.5 teams will be full of 4.0s, the 4.0 teams will be full of 4.5s, and so on. If Zack and Glen blow their opponents out in the playoffs then you anonymous losers will be proven right. If they lose or the matches are close, give Garland credit for not having sandbaggers on their team.

I will let the results speak for themselves.
