4.5 Big matches

Branch v. Wildberger should be great, :) But seriously this could be a serious woodshedding, we might hear the cries and sobbing all over Collin County.

OC Feldman v. Greenhill looks like a good one, the winner of this one will be sitting rather pretty in the playoff mix especially if OC pulls it out.

Big match up in the other flight pits unbeaten TBar v. Brookhaven. If TBar wins they all but cement thier position at the top and if Broohaven wins they will be tough to catch as well. Village will take on Oak Creek. Captain Noel will be down in Waco so they Village will have to step up or they might be saying adios playoffs.

  1. the T-Bar v. Brookhaven will be huge otherwise it is sort of a yawner weekend until Feldman/Branch go at it on 6/21
Feldman could have an interesting match this weekend though with Greenhill.
Speaking of Greenhill they need a close match here and then they have a battle on the 7th against Royal Oaks.

  2. BTW:
Looking through results at 5.0, any bets we might see Michael Kelly on either Feldman or Branch come this fall? Judging by his results this spring it is a distinct possibility he might get an ESR of 4.5.

  5. saw Royal Oaks had their big guns and stomped LBH-Wise 4-1
Henry Juan Gonzales is for real as he beat a very good player in Jeff Duffey, Rauschuber, Molina, Bui all played and won easily.

  6. T-Bar slammed Brookhaven 4-1, think it is safe to say that T-Bar is for real. Also of note Kevin Conway made his return and got beaten 0,2 at 1D. 3 of the 4 matche wins were not even close.

  7. I was very surprised by that Brookhaven result. Yuri must have completely thrown in the towel in the second set to lose 6-0. Colby does not do well in the heat and this was the hottest match of the year, unless they played this morning. Also, Brookhaven seemed to be missing quite a few doubles players.

We won over Bovermann more convincingly than I thought, although my match and line 3 doubles were both 2 1/2 hour wars.

  8. has Colby gotten quite a bit better? I played him in doubles a few years back and was not overly impressed. Lost 6-4 in the third. Good but not great player, especially to beat a player like Yuri.

  9. Bovermann put out Jarad Kemp at line 1 singles, corey did they owe you a favor or did they just not have the players this week?

  10. Colby has gotten a lot better. He is hitting a lot more power and spin on his serve and forehand. Plus, he really starts out strong and demoralizes you early in the match. His stamina must be getting better too. It used to be that you could just outlast him and win the second set easily. That still worked for me this season, but not as well as in the past. I still think Yuri must have given up mentally in that match because I would have put Yuri as the favorite.

As far as our match, both teams were missing a few key players I think. But they definitely stacked their singles. That was probably one of my biggest wins in 4.5 team tennis. I needed that after a poor performance on Friday. I was very happy with a 5-0 win considering we were missing two of our top five.

Good luck in mixed, Cary. You better win because I'm riding the bench for you.

  11. Just saw a huge win for Greenhill defeating Feldman 3-2.
Big wins for Hopper/Romerhaus over Wright/Durten and also at 2 doubles Wallace/Sangren defeating Ramos/M. Feldman in MTB.
