4.0 Update

Flight A:
Ha! as if I would zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. Sorry did they play matches in this flight I am not sure. Yes T Bar and HP won without leaving their homes. Moving on.

Flight B:
A little shocker of a result as OC takes out Garland. What happened there, Vijay Singh got taken out in straight sets and Sierp at line 1 doubles lost in straights as well. The Lakes looked impressive again this week, I don't see them being pushed until the BH match.

Flight C:
Missing some results here so we will wait and see. The only wierd thing is the team default posted in the LBH v. GH showdown. What happened???? But maybe even bigger news Bartlett's team falls to 0-3, this has to be the biggest schock of the season so far.

Flight D
Well we lost a very close match to BH/Pearlman with two of our dubs team including myself dropping 3rd set tiebreakers. BH stays undefeated along with Springpark and they will meet on the final match of the season, should be interesting. Springpark crushed Stonebridge 5-0 as they finally moved McGowan up to show off a bit and he probably earned a strike but in this flight you might have to give up a strike to make sure you actually make it to the playoffs.

Off this weekend for Mother's Day.

  1. Lifetime won 4-1 at previously undefeated LB. Big match on May 18th vs T-Bar M. See who is for real. Lifetime should be able to get it done. Could be a great match. LIfetime is still in line to win this Flight and get that rematch with HP in City Champs.

    ReplyDelete
  2. Did anyone see HP scores for yesterday there is a team that should be worried about strikes. They only match that was competitive was line 2 singles. The other lines margin of victory averaged 1 and 1. BLOWOUT!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  3. And out of those seven people from Canyon Creek, six are 3.5 players! What's the big deal? That's what you are supposed to do, if HP didn't do that, I would write them off in a minute!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  4. exactly I don't see strikes there and most of them will be 4.5s by this summer anyway. Lifetime would be 0-3 in Flight D or Flight B for that matter. Yep that's right I'm bitter about my flight arrangement.

    ReplyDelete
  5. Lifetime would be o-3. BS. Hope you can make the playoffs so Lifetime can crush your team. You will get a true measure of Lifetime vs TBar M in 2 weeks.

  6. Eddie,

You got lit up at the Corpus Christie tourney this past weekend and you are the best player on the LF team. How do you expect to compete with big boys in Dallas if you can't even make it out of the 1st round of a major tourney??? Score 6-0, 6-2.

    ReplyDelete
  7. Sometime you have bad days. That was one of them vs a very solid 4.0 player. I will put my record and game up against anyone in 4.0 that wants to bring it. I had a bad match and he played well... Big boys of Dallas??? Don"t see many of them at the major zones. At least I have the guts to travel and play the best players. I am off to a slow start at tourney's this year. Talk to me at Elite 8 in November.

    Eddie

    ReplyDelete
  8. Your not in the top 8 in Dallas much less all of Texas.

    ReplyDelete
  9. Mr anonymous trash talker calling me out for the tourney and Most Hated. If either one of you wants to bring it to the court let me know. otherwise shut up and watch the results as a bystander at City.

I can meet you at any court in North Dallas in 30 mins. Let me know.

    Eddie

  10. Picking on Eddie Hill, watch what you wish for. Funny that the 3.5ers say Eddie was a disgrace to their level and was the ultimate cheater and at 4.0 he is being called out as crappy. Where is the 3.75 league????

    ReplyDelete
  11. Funny. I have been playing tennis for all of 3 years now. In 6-12 months they will be saying the same thing at 4.0 and I will get moved up again. I just play to win everytime and work to improve. Lesson learned last weekend. Can't be such a free swinger against a hard hitting 4.0 guy that doesn't make mistakes. I'll just work harder and bring it to the court next time. Eddie

    ReplyDelete
  12. The top players don't play tournaments. The top players play league. If you ranked the top 100 Texas players at any level then most of your tournament players would be outside of the top 30 (maybe 50).

    ReplyDelete
  13. You won't be in the city playoffs, but you can come out and watch me.
An Elite 8 player doesn't lose 6-0 6-2 no matter how bad they are playing. Your an average 4.0 player on an average 4.0 team. There is nothing wrong with that. I'm not trying to insult you or your team. It's just the way I see it.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Cary,

I doubt SP McGowan's win over Tim Muetzel yesterday will warrant a flag. I'm guessing that line was a sacrifice. Tim hasn't played a league singles match since 2004 and those were 3.5 matches.

    ReplyDelete
  15. You are wrong. The Top 10-15 players in the rankings in August are better than any you will see in the Dallas leagues. 10 of the top 15 will be from Houston area. I don't like to admit this being from Dallas area, but Houston players are better. Don't know how they work the system, just better. In April and May rankings don't mean much, by August best players are in place.

    ReplyDelete
  16. anon,

while I agree it shouldn't warrant a strike I am about 95% sure that was a strike against Mcgowan. It doesn't matter if Tim isn't a singles player, Tim has a computer rating and it is rather high I am guessing from his past results at 4.0 and some close results at the 4.5 level over the past two years. As I mentioned I think that sucks for Mitch but I would be shocked if he doesn't have a strike on his record right now.

I hope this rule is changed at some point because players like myself who can compete at 4.0 doubles can't even think about playing singles at this level because singles is a different game and such be treated as such.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Most Hated.

Wrong again. I beat the #5 player in state 6-1 6-2 in simi's last year in SA Sectionals. He was at elite 8 and is now in top 10 at 4.0. Every blue moon you can have a very poor outing. things are going bad & you make an adjustment that makes it worse.
I see you are treating my challenge to play like a UFO. Eddie

    ReplyDelete
  18. That is simply not true. The only way the top players end up in the rankings is if they actually play tournaments and not only their local tournaments but traveling to a couple others. Only the same 20-30 people in each division actually do that.

Last year might have been the exception in the 3.5s and 4.0s. The top players were playing both league and tournaments but that is very rare.

I have seen Ismael Dutchover (just won Corpus) and Tuyen Nguyen (won Abilene) play several times and there is ABSOLUTELY NO WAY those guys could compete for a line 1 or 2 singles spot on any of our local Dallas league teams (at least the real contenders like HP and Springpark). But you will probably see both of these guys in the elite 8 in Austin - but they are not top 30 players in Texas.

I'm not saying one is better than the other. It is simply true that league tennis is 10x more competitive than tournament tennis.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Eddie,

You just made my point for me. You beat the current ranked #5 4.0 last year 6-1, 6-2 (the above referenced Tuyen Nguyen). He is not a top 4.0 but you can't tell that from the rankings. He simply plays a lot of tournaments, doesn't make him a top 4.0 just because he is "ranked" high.

If only #90-#100 play tournaments on a regular basis then #90-#100 would be ranked #1-#10. Rankings are meaningless at any point during the year.

    ReplyDelete
  20. I would have to agree that at this time, leagues have stronger players for the most part than tournaments. Of course, there is some overlap. That wasn't always the case. In the mid-90s to late 90's tournament were much tougher than the leagues.

    ReplyDelete
  21. I agree it is a 3.5 and 4.0 thing. I went 2-1 combined against Both of those players you mentioned. they were on the same team last year that went to nationals in Team tennis. Let me tell you that I did not lose a match last year in Dallas 3.5 and city playoffs. But lost to Ismail in Finals at SA Sectionals. Both of those guys could play on any line 1 Dallas team 4.0.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Again let me say the top 10-15 in August. You only get credit for top 5 tournaments you play in. the other points don't count at all. The top 10-15 singles player would beat 95% of the Dallas league players. It is a fact. at 3.5, 4.0, 4.5 levels.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Different topic, anyone has any update on GH/LBH match at all? Sounds like a controversy in the brewing!

Did they miss the match time or something?

    ReplyDelete
  24. Example:

Robert Judkins SA currently ranked #3 in 4.0 singles beat Donald Allen LBH 7-6 in the 3rd set. Jim Walters SP beat Donald Allen 6-4, 6-1 in a recent Brookhaven tournament. Don is probably the #3 singles player on his team behind Ratana and Walker. The top 10-15 ranked singles players might beat 95% of all league players, but they wouldn't fair as well against the leagues top singles players.

    ReplyDelete
  25. yep I would love to know something about that GH v. LB match, nobody knows anything????

    ReplyDelete
  26. I will stay away from if then..then that... As you know singles tennis is about match-ups in terms of scoring. The better player usually wins. The score tends to show how different games match up against each other. Sometimes I may struggle to beat a guy that gets crushed by someone that I crush. The better player will win most often. In this case the TOP 10 in AUGUST will beat 95-99% of Dallas league players. For example... If I go 10-1 in Line 1 singles this year in Dallas will I be one of the top 8 in Dallas area?

that is just under 92% winning %.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Moot point. Not happening...

    ReplyDelete
  28. Funny. We will see. Eddie.

    ReplyDelete
  29. The top 4.0 players, period (Dallas, Houston, Tyler, Waco, etc...) will be in Dallas for League Sectionals in August. I highly doubt anyone ranked in the top 20 at the time will be playing singles for the better teams.

    ReplyDelete
  30. 10-2 in 2008 Fall and Spring Dallas4.0 currently?

    ReplyDelete
  31. there are no Major Zone tourney's in August. FW at end of July. SA Sectionals in Sept.

    ReplyDelete
  32. I will bet you that 1/3 of the top 15 ranked in August will be here with those teams. It is a bit of backward thinking though. You could be a great singles player on a not so good team and not make it to sectionals. It is all about depth of team vs. quality of singles player.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Eddie,
did J Marcus, a 3.5 player, take u to three sets?? And didn't J Marcus lose to Prather, another 3.5 player

    ReplyDelete
  34. 8am Sunday morning consolation match. nuff said. Who won??? By the way I think Jonathan went 6-1 in the Fall 4.0 league season. Talk to the 6 4.0 guys that he actually beat.

    ReplyDelete
  35. We need a blog challenge ladder for singles and doubles.

    ReplyDelete
  36. yep jonathan has enough trouble with the scorned old guys of Oakridge.

    ReplyDelete
  37. I'll play you Eddie.

    Mitch McGowan.

    ReplyDelete
  38. You "league" gurus dont know what you are talking about. Its all about match ups fellas! No LEAGUE player would be able to hang with a tournament player in a REAL tennis match with regular scoring. Not the type of match that "league" players play, with no ad scoring, and 3rd set tie breakers. You "league" players like to talk alot of smack about being better than tournament players, but 75% of you league players who over generalize yourselves as better tennis players would not be able to handle the grind of tournament play. League players do not have to be as conditioned as tournament players because of the scoring used in league play. Also, many of the older league players just would not make it, and with the hot sun in the summer, FORGET ABOUT IT!!! Play the WHOLE match out, and see who wins! I have seen Tuyen and Ismail both play, and they may not be the best players out on the court as far as tactics and ground strokes go, but I SERIOUSLY doubt, that any "league" players would be able to outlast any Tuyen or Ismail, and yes, even Eddie in a REAL, regular scoring match. Like I said, its not only about how great your strokes look, you MUST take conditioning into account as well, which is something league players lack in comparison to tournament players. I would say players such as Tuyen, Ismail, and Eddie too would be some of the better conditioned players from what I have seen. With Eddie, people have their bad days, and I guess Eddie had his in Corpus. Or, it could have been a bad match up for him. Either way, to OVER generalize that league players are better than tournament players is not taking into account the differences in conditioning and scoring between league and tournament play. Just my 2 cents.

    ReplyDelete
  39. So what do the scores need to be in order to avoid a strike?

    mjm

    ReplyDelete
  40. Anonymous, I agree with you about the conditioning of tournaments being tougher than leagues. It's also a time drain on people with businesses and families rather than just jobs.

I do know that the leagues that I used to play in were filled with people that would play maybe one or two tournaments a year, and many times get to the finals of Houston Coke or the Dr. Pepper or some of the other large 128 draw Open singles tournies.

As far as the argument over who is the better player? I think a straight set victory nullifies any league scoring debate.

I'll be the first to tell you that I have no interest in playing 8 singles matches over two and a half days...not without updating my life insurance!

    ---mitch.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Mitch,

What are the names of those league players that got to the finals of the Coke or any other major zone? I would be curious to know who those players are.

I too would agree that a straight set victory would nullify any league scoring debate, however, I dont think that there is THAT big a difference between league and tournament players as some people are making it out to be.

One thing about league matches tho, is that the 3rd set is not played out. A tournament player would outlast a league player in that summer heat if a 3rd set were to be played out in my opinion.

    GO TOURNAMENT PLAYERS!!

    ReplyDelete
  42. I agree Mitch I love tennis but I didn't even like tournaments when I was in HS. I am guessing a Houston person posted the Tourney players rule comment and btw we play regular ad scoring here in Dallas. We used to play full 3rd sets not that long ago either and some areas still do and hopefully we will again soon if I bitch and moan enough. Even most pros don't play consecutive matches in a day it just makes for ugly tennis and if you think that is better than I will have to agree to disagree because I would rather play for 1-2 hours of quality tennis then three days of mediocre tennis.

    Mitch,

Sorry I wish we all knew the formula about DQ's but I am not sure, they would never tell us that. Look forward to meeting you on 5/18 but feel free not to play against us we are a in a funk and getting swept may just make me request a refund on my usta membership.

    ReplyDelete
  43. oh btw anonymous,

send me your thoughts on the challenge ladder to my email and I can get started on it because as you know in a about a month 90% of us will be out of the playoff contention and looking for some good matches so I would be game for it.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Hey Cary, thanks for responding. I'd be up to join a ladder, dubs or sngls. I don't play as much as I used to, and it's showing on my waistline. Ladders are fun, been a while since I participated in one, and it was at SP.

I heard the same thing from Jim, that I may get "rested" for awhile. I'm not sure how much he'll play me, but I know better than to question the wisdom of Mr. Walters. The apprentice should remain silent and observe closely
    ;->

If I am playing, please introduce yourself!

Oh, Anonymous, none of them were 4.0's that got into the finals of the Open division. They were my old 5.0 buddies. You'd still run into the same sandbagging there that goes on here. Almost every week we had to play against some hot shot that didn't need to be in a local league.

However, if you think that the tourney players are so much better than the league players, how come they lose so much?

    Mitch.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Cary Bazan aka Lucky Thunder,

Yes, I am from Houston, but I was referring to scoring format at league sectionals. A 3rd set 10 pt tie breaker is used when players split sets at sectionals and is not played out like a normal match should. I knew ad scoring was used, but no 3rd set is played out. Advantage goes to league players in this regard.

Make it a REAL tennis match, and play the whole thing out.

Last year's team from Houston in the 4.0 level dominated BOTH tournament play, AND league play, so...to say that tournament players cannot hang with league players is simply an over generalization and nothing more.

The 4.0 team who made it to Nationals was a team made up of SEVERAL tournament players, and they took it to the "league" players!

Same can be said for 3.5 level last year as well.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Oh, one more thing Cary:

I completely agree with you on the 3rd set. Two sets of doubles shouldn't exhaust anyone...that's for golfers.

    mjm

    ReplyDelete
  47. Hey Mitch,

Well,I dont know why the DALLAS tournament players lose so much to your DALLAS league players, but ask any of the 2007 4.0 Texas League Sectional Championship Team...they may be able to answer some of those questions for you.

Even better, why don't you just go look up their individual records and see how many losses the tournament players from HOUSTON had against your amazing "league" players from Dallas, and you might find the results quite interesting.

Tournament players beating league players??? Oh NOOOOO!!!! THATS IMPOSSIBLE!!!

    Right???

    ReplyDelete
  48. Anyone here ever say something opinionated that they really didn't care about?

    Uuuh, I just did.

I think I'm about to do it again, though...

Yes, if a tournament player joins a league, his tennis improves dramatically ;-P

    ReplyDelete
  49. Count me in for some blog challenge ladder matches. I get tired of playing the same people all the time. I would prefer doubles, but I will play singles.

How does this work? Do I need to insult individual players, or just their team? Most of you suck compared to me. I am the best tournament/league player ever. OK bring on the challenges.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Nah Keith, I think we'll just call it the "League Tournament Ladder."

Then everyone will feel valid and special.

    Mitch.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Mitch do you usually play singles or doubles? I've heard your name mentioned, but I don't think we have ever played. Don't you play for the evil Springpark team? If you play doubles I'm sure we will meet in the playoffs.

    ReplyDelete
  52. If we do this "ladder". Gene Davis will be number 1 hands down.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Gene why are you posting under anonymous?

    ReplyDelete
  54. Count me in for a blog challenge ladder.

    Mike Pearson

    ReplyDelete
  55. Somabut and Walters sitting in a tree...

    ReplyDelete
  56. Hey Keith,

I used to play mostly singles, but now I play more doubles. I really enjoy both. And yes, we are the evil Spring Parkers, trying to win by imposing the element of fear and lack of confidence. It's a new strategy, you think it will work?

Whatever you do, don't let Pearson play, he's the most evil.

    mitch.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Thank you brother Mitch

    most evil MP

    ReplyDelete
  58. But I guess that would make Gene Davis the most scary.

I'm scared right now just thinking about it.

    mjm

    ReplyDelete
  59. Yikes I thought I had a weekend off from tennis but it looks like I am putting together a blog/league/tourney challenge ladder. Oh well Mother's day is overrated and created by Hallmark much like Valentines Day....I hope my wife doesn't read this stupid blog I created.

I think we will have to put Mitch and the evil springparkers at the top so we will enjoy knocking them off and then I will take out Keith first since he threw out the first gauntlet. But since I am league player and I am not tourney tested I need no ad scoring and can we play a tiebreak at 3-3 since my conditioning is soooo bad. I will also need to take meal breaks if that is OK, in fact can we just play XBox 360 and leave tennis to the true champions of our sport: the tournament players. "GMAFB"

    ReplyDelete
  60. wow. what great conversation. sorry I missed a good portion of it. I was on the court for the last 3hrs trying to work on my game so I can beat Mitch in the challenge match. Mitch I think you can click on my tag and send me an email with contact info so we can play this week. Cary I am in with Latters, but it will have to be in October after I get back from Tucson in September. Kidding, just let me know when, who, and where.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Anyone up for some dub's Saturday around noon. High heat and 3 out of five sets. Frisco or lifetime? The MILFS should be out at the pool at Lifetime so maybe we could take 20 minute breaks between games. Snoop

    ReplyDelete
  62. Well after some sporadic viewing (and yes thank you Mike Pearson for alerting me to this guilty pleasure. This blog kinda reminds of the joke. What do a moped and a ....... have in common? Both fun but don't let your friends catch you)I guess it is time to respond. First, I would like to thank some of you for the great support I have received I greatly appreciate it even though 95% have never seen me hit a tennis ball. Secondly, for those that say I suck or I am overrated you suck worse.

Ok - onto the question at hand - yes, I would be interested in a ladder only if we can get some 4.5's, 5.0's, Eddie Hill, or Houston 3.0's tournament players. I need some real competition not average at best Dallas League 4.0's.

At most one tournament a year so I suck also and from Springpark,

    Gene Davis

    ReplyDelete
  63. Hey Lifetimer,

I have to join in order to email you. Spring Park's number is 972-675 1272.

Once Gene gets back with my coffee he'll be happy to take messages for me.

I've seen Gene hit balls, so that makes me in the top 5% I guess of Gene observers. He's much quicker now that he shaved off is beard; no wind drag up top, either.

I'll only play if Gene doesn't, b/c I'm not only scared of his singles' prowess, but we'd probably end up in some random beer drinking game, anyway.

    ----the mitch.

    ReplyDelete
  64. I'm starting to like these Springpark guys. I'm almost gonna feel bad for beating them in the playoffs. Except for Gene who is unbeatable. I refuse to play him.

    ReplyDelete
  65. I change my mind. I have to play Gene and Mitch in doubles. I must see there greatness in person. The city playoffs are too far away. Cary if you make a challenge ladder let this be the first doubles challenge. Eddie if you play doubles make that my second challenge(pick any partner you want to)Steven Brouer is my usual doubles partner. I'm sure he is in for some good tennis also.

    ReplyDelete
  66. That'll work, Keith. I'll call Gene and see when he can do it.

You getting McEnroe or Federer as your partner?

    mjm

    ReplyDelete
  67. I might need both.

    ReplyDelete
  68. Just got on the blog for the week and man I have missed out.

Lifetime -- you won't win the flight. Sorry, Eddie. HP is going to be too tough to overtake and if they are T Bar is still up a win on you too. And Eddie, look at Houston Major this year, you'll find the dallas players were there and did quite well.

Tournament vs League...who cares. If you win, then it won't matter what you play. Besides a 1 match tournament vs league doesn't prove anything. Like it's been said anyone can get lucky for 1 match.

Count me in for the league challenge. Singles, Doubles whatever. Prefer doubs with Keith though, since he's the best player ever. So all I have to do is show up and you'll win the matches for us? SWEET!

    --Steven Brouer

    ReplyDelete
  69. Now I'm afraid of Keith.

    ----Mitch.

    ReplyDelete
  70. Actually, Steven and Keith, why don't we set up a fun match as a tune-up this week or weekend? Especially since we aren't playing league b/c of mom's day.

email me at info@dotdirt.com and I'll get in touch with Gene.

    mitch.

    ReplyDelete
  71. I have played against and lost to all 4 players in this match. The over/under on total games by HP in 2 sets is 3.5. I take the under. Any bets? (not including those made be Gene or Mitch who would throw the match for 1/2 a stale beer.

    Jim

    ReplyDelete
  72. PS I am only allowing this match if it doesn't count as a red flag

    ReplyDelete
  73. ouch Jim less than three games. These guys must be good. Let me know the time and place. I might be in the area a couple of days this week/weekend. Maybe you all can play next to Sisk and I so he can see some real tennis. Winner gets top the ladder and the loser I guess will be 3rd behind Jeromi and I after we crush Sisk/Noel.

    ReplyDelete
  74. Jim I'm a little insulted. I expect to win at least 4 games in 2sets. Don't worry about red flags. We can even play on your home courts so nobody will see. I'm just looking for good competition, and some fun tennis. If by some miracle we pull off an upset I don't want any red flags either.

    ReplyDelete
  75. Keith.

Don't be insulted. If I were to play Gene in singles, the over/under would be 1/2 and most people would take the under. Jim

    ReplyDelete
  76. I saw Gene play at the tri level. He is very good. I've never seen Mitch play though. It will be fun to play them.

    ReplyDelete
  77. Hey Steve and Keith,

Gene said Friday at 5ish at SP if y'all can do it, maybe 5:30?

And yeah, I'd throw it for beer.

    ---Mitch.

    ReplyDelete
  78. I'm a bit insulted too Jim. Only giving us 3 games, but I haven't seen Mitch play so I could be wrong. --Steven

    ReplyDelete
  79. I work till 5ish on Fridays. 6 would be better for me.

    --Steven

    ReplyDelete
  80. Hey Steven, I'll see if Gene can do six. I'm betting so. It would be better for me, too.

Alan, our head pro, is thinking about doing a put up or shut up 4.0 tourney for us here soon. Wonder if there would be any interest, hmm?

    ReplyDelete
  81. Oh, Steven, I've lost and won against Gene over the years.

    ReplyDelete
  83. Note to self:
Bring beer for Mitch during the city playoffs.

Of course they usually have a keg there anyway.
Friday at 6:00 works for me.

  84. Keith,

Better bring it early. I hear it's you and Lifetime in the finals...

    ReplyDelete
  85. Somebody is going to "get served"
as in the movie " You got served"

    HP is weak.

    ReplyDelete
  86. I think the ladder should be across levels so the trash talk can really get going. However if Steven and Keith don't get more than 3 games in 2 sets I'm not sure I could hang on the ladder and will just stay in Fort Worth.
As far as tournament vs. league, some of the top tournament players are very competitive with the top league players. However as many have said being in the top 10 in tournaments has more to do with how many major zones you are willing to travel to more so than being an elite player in Texas.
I have seen Tuyen and Ismael multiple times and they surprise many good players with their tenacity; however, I would not think they would have won a lot at 4.0 League Sectionals.
Keith and Steven bring some cushions to sit on during changeovers if you really are going to get your rears handed to you that badly.

  87. Jason how is 4.5 treating you? I'm sure your dominating just like last year. Your right we should cross levels for these challenges. Apparently Steven and I are going to play up a few levels this week. You should definately come to Dallas and play a few challenges. Your one of the few players that I didn't feel bad losing to.

  88. I will take the over for Keith and Steven for sure. I would guess that they play better players than Gene and Mitch every week at my team practice and they win a lot more games than that.

  89. I would guess they probably don't play better players. You can ask them after the match.

  90. According to mythical legend, Gene Davis and Mitch's serves are unbreakable and only hit passing shots. How in the world will would Keith and Steven get 3 games noneless win?

    Keith and Steven are DOOMED.
    HA

  91. First thing we need to do is teach Keith the difference between "your" and "you're."

  92. Thanks for the vote of confidence Corey, But I don't want to give Mitch and Gene any extra motivation to crush us. Now I'm gonna have to bring lots of beer to distract them.

  93. Sorry I not tipe goode sumtimes/

  94. Wow,

Look at the uproar this has created. Let it be known I'm relatively confident that I'm an above average player but I'm not the one suggesting or predicting a total a**kicking. I played Steven once this year already and it was a much closer score. I would be comfortable and happy with a nice one break per set victory.

As anonymous said earlier I have lost a match before even though I do not ever remember losing a match so I think this person must be lying.

  99. ok now that I have been suckered into caring about about the playoffs again what is the deal with that LBH v. Greenhill match. My understanding is a team default takes you out of a chance at advancing and their results will not count, etc. I am not positive how that rule is worded I am just curious how it will affect that flight and the rest of us as well.

  100. SP: I will be there at the challenge to root for my teammates. I am bringing beer for Mitch (and myself), so it may get a bit roudy. Hai Nguyen may be attending also, bringing beer, so if there were a line 2 set of SP players, perhaps we can drum up a pick up game. I play better after 3 or 4 beers anyways. Cya guys at 6!

ps. who is this HP hater, saying we are weak? Must be a Lifetimer, or perhaps a Houstonian. Man, state your name, put out the challenge -- or Shutup!
At least Mitch and Gene post their names, course I hear they are pretty good. how about you anonymous Hater???

In my opinion, the only thing tournament players have over league players is they are typically younger, and can play more matches in the heat. Give me any tourney player at 8 pm, for one match only, and I say I stand a real chance. Some of us have issues with the heat and dehydration. Heck, the pros only play one match a day, at the most. Sometimes they get a whole day off.
