Let the games begin! QT Day One

So much for off court junk.

There is real tennis going on as of tonight.

3.5 and 4.0 play at 6p tonight at Brookhaven and LBH.

3.5 CC/Carman v. LTF-Can you say SWEEP
3.5. CC/Jolly v. Westlake- the winner should prove to be the one in this flight that can rain on the Oakridge v. Lifetime party on Sunday

4.0 LTF v. Brookhaven-a very even matchup but I favor LTF for some reason, maybe the miracle healing of Eddie, his greatness cannot be underestimated
4.0 Garland v. TBar-I think this matchup is even but somehow I think this will be lopsided and it could go either way. How is that for not committing on an outcome? If you forced me I would say Garland. But you always have to force me to pick Gar..sorry can't say it a second time.

Post results and thoughts about tonight as you know them. I won’t be able to make it out and won’t be home until very late so I hope for some interesting results by the time I make it home.

  1. Looks like Lifetime did not sweep and got themselves a ho hum 4-1 win.

  2. Must have been Eddie's Super Fantastic Magical Greatness.

To call Eddie just, "Great" is to call God above average.

  3. Eddie's LT team did sweep; the 3.5 team won 4-1. Good News for Cary... Evil Garland lost.

  4. Lifetime 4.0 WINS 5-0. TBar M wins 4-1 over Garland. Can anyone say FLIGHT A!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  5. Lifetime 4.0 is for real and should win their flight. LB Jones has no chance. Can you say Lifetime to Sectionals Baby!!!

  6. Man that Garland team really sucks, they are just all talk.

    ReplyDelete
  7. Lifetime's first test is going to be against Springpark or Highpoint and they will have their ass handed to them.

  8. Everyone talks crap about how bad flight C 4.0 is. Flight C looked pretty good today. I think handwritten apologies to Tbar ltf and hp would be a nice start. We will get the addresses for you later.

  9. Actually it is flight A with LTF, HP and TBar. But you are right about the fools that said flight A was weak. Cary, what do you have to say NOW??

  10. 4-1 ho hum? Ok. Will be happy w 2 more ho hums then.

  11. Actually, I think there were a lot of names on that not so gravy train calling flight "A" weak.

  12. It's only two matches against a crappy garland team and a mediocre BH team. Wait till Sunday, you'll know that Flight C and D are better than A&B.

  13. T-Bar stacked their singles and doubles which was a smart move, it may win them the QT if they lose to LBH and Garland plays stronger on Sunday. I would have liked to of seen McKinney vs Wallace but it didnt happen. Instead McKinney wins 0 and 1 at #1, while Wallace at the 2 spot beats Russell 2 and 2.

  14. I am impressed by Flight A tonight but it was just one match. I never said TBar and LTF sucked I said their competition did and even they have conceded that fact. I am happy for big Eddie. LTF all the way. Did someone say I was happy about the Garland loss. No me? Smart move by the TBar captain, I think when you are facing a player like Mckinney I would duck him as well. Nice win at doubles though because these two teams faced off in the Fall and Garland beat them that time so that is impressive to come back and win in the rematch.

I am sad to see Leonard and Doug lose they are a solid team, just didn't work out tonight.

  15. solid win by LTF at 3.5 as well, a little ho hum but interested to see Morrison playing with the 3.5 group and not the 4.0 group and Marcus playing in the 4.0 and not the 3.5, I would have guessed the other way around.

CC/Jolly got a good win and Jolly was on the bench he better be playing v. Oakridge or else they don't stand a chance.

  16. Good win for Eddie against a quality opponent in Boccara. Note that Wines did play for LTF contrary to what was written on the blog. However, what's up with getting bagled in the second set? Where's Brian Kennedy and Forrest for LTF?

Surprised to see Garland go down 4-1 to TBarM. The next two days will still be interesting. I still like LBH-Jones but a 5-0 LTF win makes it tough. We'll know more after tomorrow's LBH-BH match.

  17. OSCAR PERFORMANCE!!!
Life Time 3.5 has done a good job keeping Johan Mudsam "under the radar". The very strong team of Mudsam and Barron were able to keep their scores very close against the extremely weak team of John Fox and Jim Marshall with 6-3, 7-6 win. Way to manage those NTRPs!

  18. So how is Eddie's shoulder? ? I have heard that his crediability is a little shakey.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Yeah. I just sat out our last 2 matches to fool everyone and did not play for 4 weeks or serve for 6 weeks to fool the tennis community. I still have plenty of pain and soreness and will have surgery in the 2-3 months. But not til we are done playing!!! When are Nationals again??? Eddie

  20. Oh yeah, that 1.5 hrs a day six days a week of rehab was just for show as well....

  21. Eddie,

You have a better chance of winning the Quiet Game than Lifetime has of getting out of the DCC.

    ReplyDelete
  22. That's pretty good. We will see. My wife my agree with you on my Quiet Game skills. We will see about the DCC. "We just fight, No?

  23. eddie was definitely hurt I had a chance to hit with him and I could see the change in this game but he is still mega athletic and can hit power shots from defenisive positions. I thought Wines couldn't make it and Forrest would be there but I guess I was wrong. Eddie is feeding me trick info, guess I am not a major news source yet.

Even more impressive they swept w/o Forrest, Kennedy and Myers who is very solid. Also Nishaki did not play or is not avail.

I like their chances to get to the DCC and with Blumberg out of the way, it could get interesting.

I might just have to rename the blog after Eddie Hill if they go to sectionals.

  24. Whoever thinks Garland Sucks, lets have a scrimage. An open challange and stop posting under "anonymous"

    ReplyDelete
  25. VJ,

Looks like they already did have an open challenge.... And Garland lost... BADLY!

    ReplyDelete
  26. well VJ at least you were in the only match that lasted over 10 minutes last night. Good for you. Steve is probably counting the days when he can replace you with Zack and Glenn.

anonymous will see you soon at line 3 dubs.

    ReplyDelete
  27. "anonymous", i will play u at any line, anywhere and anytime.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Vijay, you're a grown man, right? Your team just lost 4-1, right? And you post on the site that your team will challenge "anyone"? You realize how ridiculous you sound, right? Don't get sucked in to this stuff, be better than that, buddy.

    ReplyDelete
  29. All of this noise is just silly. Until someone beats HP-Somabut or SP-Walters, this is just b.s. And I'm not on either one of those teams, but them's the facts. Lifetime has such a big chip on their shoulders. Until you actually beat one of those teams, you'll always be an also ran, and very gay.

    ReplyDelete
  30. i realize that; we may have just lost badly and are not making excuses for that. TBar played better. Plain and simple. We lost to a better team. You can hate Garland, call us whatever; don’t do it under the cloak of anonymity. Put your name on your post. I am just saying…since we are all grown men

    ReplyDelete
  31. Wait a minute, under "Choose an identity," there are 4 options, and one of them happens to be "Anonymous." Right? I think there is more honesty by posting anonymously, and there's no need to create ill wil especially when we all see each other so often. I mean, I'll post as "Fred" from now on if it makes you feel better.

    ReplyDelete
  32. By the way, I posted that last message.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I agree w Fred. You get more gobeast with out ill will. Just shouldn't be a jerk about what you say either.

    ReplyDelete
  34. The correct word was honesty. Don't know how I could type that bad.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Fred, Barney, good to make your acquaintance

    ReplyDelete
  36. there dosent have to be ill will just because you reveal your identity. You are entitled to your opinion. Like Barney said, one shouldnt be a jerk either.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Welcome to the firing squad, i mean blog, Vijay. We've given up trying to get these cowards to post their names. They know they can't beat you, so they post anonymously. I'm sure all of them are undefeated and never lose. Vijay and I should be bumped to 5.5since we beat Blumberg in doubles last Sunday.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Hey, cool, thanks for posting about a pickup game doubles win last Sunday. Can everyone please just start posting all their results every time you play a match? I think it will help everyone's self-esteem. Cory's a pretty good player, just ask him.

  39. Of the 30 4.0 teams that played this spring, VJ would be a top 4 player on all but maybe 4 of them, and would be a top 8 starter for all of them. Just about any captain would be happy to have him, so I am not sure why he is under attack.

T-Bar played well over the last 2 days and I wish them good luck in cities.

DCC should be fun to watch. I like the Lakes team as a whole, and like HP as well. The dark horse should be LT if they win tomorrow. If they have Forrest back for cities and can run him and Eddie at line 2, that is a very strong singles front. Other than Lakes, I think its the strongest 1-2 punch at singles in the DCC. The big question is whether or not they can steal a doubles line from a team like HP.

Good luck everyone next week - should be fun to watch it play out.

  40. He's under attack, so called, cause right after his team gets trounced, he calls out for a scrimmage to anyone "anywhere, anytime." That was pretty gay, don't you think? I'm sure Vijay's a nice player, and he's a great golfer--top 5 in the world I think.
