4.0 final regular season matches

So Flight C and D have bid adieu to the regular season and Lifetime, BH-Pearlman, Greenhill and the Lakes qualified for the playoffs.

Flight C ended up as expected but Garland finished 2-5 which was a little unexpected and Eagles Landing never could get complete enough to make a run at the top but did make it interesting for a little while.

Flight D caught some flack but I think this was the best flight from top to bottom. Greenhill or the Lakes may not win the Fall DCC but they are battle tested from playing in this flight I assure you. Stonebridge after making the playoffs since the beginning of time at 4.0 has missed two season in a row now, they have to think of some new membership perks I think. TBar had tough finish losing out on tiebreakers and they probably lose Shannon Grant to 4.5 in a few weeks as well. I think they will be a force in the Spring because they seem to have no problem finding new players and have good numbers. As far as Brookhaven it seems their lack of singles play hurt them and their doubles teams are not quite the dominating force they seemed to be just about a year or so ago.

But enough about looking back there is some 4.0 tennis this week.

Flight A has the big match up between us and Springpark. Oh wait it doesn't mean anything anymore. We still hope to have fun match this Sunday. There are still two teams fighting it out in our flight, BH-Helterbrann and LB Houston. I like BH's chances but they are light at singles and that could hurt them if Canyon Creek brings their best players. LBH has JCC who has been spreading playing time around lately so LBH has a chance to post a big number. They will need a sweep to really put themselves in position at the very least a 4-1 win.

Flight B has HP and OC just needed any type of win to hold onto their spots at the top with Durdy Garland lurking in the shadows ready to take one of those spots if they falter. Don't see it happening since Bob and Don have got these teams back on track after one bad loss for each.

By this time next week we should know or have a good idea on seeding and hopefully we can see a schedule and then let the smack talk begin.

  1. PLAYOFFS SEEDING ALL BUT SET. for 4.0

    1. Brookhaven/Pearlman
    2. HP/Bazaan
    3. HP/But
    4. Lakes
    5. Lifetime/Hill
    6. Greenhill
    7. Oak Creek
    8. Brookhaven/Helt

    Blue Flight
    1. Brookhaven
    4. Lakes
    7. Oak Creek
    8. Brookhaven/Helt

    Red Flight
    2. HP/Bazaan
    3. HP/But
    5. Lifetime/Hill
    6. Greenhill

You can questions these picks if you like but this is the way it will end up unless we have major upset. As far as division of flight go it will go this way as well because you will not get put in the same flight as a team you were in the same flight with during the season. Brookhaven/Pearl gets a great draw.

  2. Lifetime beats HP/Somabut 4-1 in round 1 and beats Greenhill 5-0 in round 2, and beats HP/Bazaan 5-0 in round 3.

Lifetime then beats Brookhaven 4-1 in the Final to win 4.0 Fall Championship.

Please save this entry so I can remind you all of my picks from Nov 24th - April 1 and the start of the Spring season.

  3. I think Cary's team weakness in doubles is exposed this week by a bunch of old guys from SP.

  4. I agree. That is why they cannot beat HP/Soma or Lifetime.

  5. I have spoken with Cary and we have concluded to forego playing the DCC and giving our spot to Springpark after they beat us this weekend.

    We just aren't good enough.

  6. Good call. You need to consult with "The Looping Backhand Pirate" as well. Make sure he stays out of the line-up and your team may be able to get a set off of Lifetime when you play.

  7. Maybe Lifetime will be kind enough to get your team breakfast on the day the you play them...

    "10 Bagels" for breakfast

If you are nice they may even give you some juice to was down all those "Bagels" with.

  8. No "Breadsticks" ??? Only "Bagels" WOW!!! Lifetime is very confident.

  9. Forrest v Kent Lifetime wins
    Diano v Noaman Bazaan wins

    Meyers&Morrison v Jeffcoat&Martin
    Lifetime wins

    Harris&Mudsam v Bowman&Bowman
    Lifetime wins

    Kennedy&Yoshida v Demetsere&Henson
    Lifetime wins.

Looks like 4-1 loss for Bazaan at best. Lifetime has a lot of options so it is hard to nail down. You could put Brinkman in at doubles and move Mudsam to singles and it would be 5-0 Lifetime.

  10. Nice try and not a bad effort, but I think the line-ups will look a little different than that if we play the 3rd match in less than 18hrs.

I do know Cary has to be very nervous about playing us. He got to see some of our guys first hand last week. I may go check them out this weekend. Eddie

  11. What Eddie your 20 somethings can't play multiple matches? I don't think our match would interest you this weeekend, most everyone is getting the week off adn the looping backhand pirate will be gracing the lineup v. Springpark. Not sure who Jim will bring since they are out of contention.

Interesting lineup thought by anon but probably won't be what you see. No Lucky thunder in that lineup and you know I have to play if we see Team Eddie on Sunday.

  12. I am happy to say that we have zero twenty-somethings on our team. I can't wait til the 21st. of Nov. It is killing me.

I do hope we see the "Pirate" in the line-up though. that would give me 2 lines in the bank. Now all we need is one more. I think we should be able to find one more line to win out of 3.

This will be the most fun DCC I have been associated with even though I am not playing, becuase I now know so many of the players. But nothing, and I mean nothing will measure up to shaking hands with Cary after we have beaten his team and won the DCC final.

    Go Lifetime!!!!

Should he be playing in the playoffs?

  14. I don't know much about this, but anyone that has seen Jonathan Renwick play will agree that he is barely a 4.0 level player. He is a much better athlete than he is a tennis player. Not meant to be a shot at him. He wins from effort and athleticism, not tennis talent. I saw him play an entire match and I can tell you he was not trying to hide his game. I am not on the Brookhaven team and would benifit from him getting DQed, but he is not out of level at all.

  15. Here is what is at the bottom of the Eastfield College Tennis site

    WANTED:
If you are a good Tennis player come play on our team. Contact us now, we need at least 8 women and 8 men. Head Coach: Christopher Geyman

They may not be that strong.

  16. I hear Keith & Steven tried out for Eastfield. But they got dropped because the coach could not keep a 13th and 14th roster spot.

    ReplyDelete
  17. The top 2 or 3 players for Eastfield are usually 4.5 players but I'm not sure beyond that. They also have a new coach I believe so their team could be even worse or better.

    ReplyDelete
  18. or could be the same.

  19. That is just becuase most of the people on this blog are losers that attack people. Now that those losers have done what they do, LOSE... their losing teams are done for the Fall and have nothing else to talk about.

Sorry Losers. Just us winners left to blog now and we don't really need to attack people. We let our games talk.

Well said I have seen Jonathan Renwick play a couple of times and agree he wins by using his athleticism. I think he is a 4.0 player maybe MAYBE on a good day a low 4.5. Also Eastfield College is not known for tennis if this was TCU, SMU, or quad C then I think it would something different.
