3.5 Week 5

So after a somewhat interesting weekend in 3.5 it looks like not much is going on this weekend but you never know.

Flight A
ZZZZZZZZZZzz. Nothing here, maybe HP v. LTF/Kaiser.

Flight B
Aha! Here is a good one. Oak Creek takes on Westlake. Westlake will get a chance to take on another perennial playoff team and show us just how good they are. I like OC to push them here but eventually lose in a close one.

Flight C
The MOW is in this flight as Robert McHugh and Canyon Creek take on the Oakridge Boys. McHugh has joined the fray in here and these two teams really need a win in order to remain relevant in playoff talk. I am not sure who I got here but I am leaning towards CC although I will be honest I don't know their roster as well.

I think LTF/Kaiser will get HP. These two teams have been feuding since 3.0 days. Kaiser is due and HP is just not as strong.

    Flight B
Westlake in a 4-1. Harvey guarantees a singles win and I think all three doubles lines are better.

    Flight C
Oakridge wins 3-2, unless they are missing players and then CC wins. This is a tough one to call and both need to win.

  2. I don't think OakRidge Boys can bounce back from such a big loss. I don't think they have it in them.

  3. With Oak Creek being downed by Greenhill in all 3 doubles lines, can not see Westlake not taking all the doubles & at least 1 singles if not all lines.

  4. I have to agree about LT/Kaiser v HP, HP is not the same HP as last spring.

Westlake gets at least 1 singles and 2 doubles.

I am going with CC as well.

  5. Eddie and Harvey? They get both singles, and at least 2 doubles. I see a 4-1 victory or a 5-0 sweep.

  6. Kaiser wins this weekend. No doubt in my mind. As long as the captain doesn't screw it up.

  7. Kaiser beats HP? I suspect a 3-2 win for HP with 2 completely inexplicable losses and 3 close wins.

  8. McHugh will have been wining and dining out on the West Coast, having not even touched a racket for two weeks by the time Saturday rolls around, so I give at least one line of singles to Oakcreek out of the gate. Line 1 doubles could be the key match of the day. LB Houston and SamGrand probably aren't considering either team right now, but since they haven't gone head to head yet either, there's always hope.

  9. Always hope for what, Bob?

  10. Highpoint and LTF played their line 1 singles already, HP down 1 - 0 already.

  11. Alan Gerber was the one who defeated Tony Wantanbe 6-4 6-2 for LTF v HP.

  12. Alan Gerber is a pretty good player. He gets alot of balls back in play. I doubt he would bemuch of a doubles player but that guy gets lots of ball back and gets to lots of balls.

That does not bode well for HP. I am beginning to believe they will lose. Watanabe is one of their best players but I did not know he ever played singles. Of course, they are desperate at singles so maybe they are trying anything. This definitely means that Watanabe won't be winning a doubles match for them.

    Lifetime takes HP Down!!!

  13. It certainly looks like HP will probably lose. I bet Jameson is calling and trying to get his best lineup out their for the final four matches this week.

  14. I've seen Alan play in the last couple months, and he has improved quite a bit since I last saw him at 3.0. I think he only started playing tennis a year or so back. Not only does he get to balls but he has a strong forehand. Took down a couple decent 4.0s. I see his record is 5-0 thus far. Could be a factor at 3.5. LTF downs HP 3-2.

  15. Doubles is for chics, fatties, oldies that can't move or flat lazy asses. Singles is real tennis........

  16. Put me in the oldie that can't move category. Singles is for people who cannot volley.

  17. Doubles is for men who drink gravy on change-overs instead of Gatorade.

  18. I don't drink gravy but I do drink Tequila.

  19. Alan Gerber is a darn good player. Except for Don Harvey Alan can beat any of the current 3.5 league players

    ReplyDelete
  20. Lifetime did beat Highpoint. Wow... So much for Highpointbeing any good.

  21. Gerber doesn't even makes the top five in 3.5 singles - thoughts at mid-season on top 5 singles players and top 5 doubles teams?

  22. Since you seem to know so much, why don't you post your top 5 singles/doubles rankings rather than making baseless comments.

  24. I am not sure where Gerber lands on that list but I bet he isinthe top 5 in bench press.

  25. How the mighty have fallen? HP does not have one person on that list?

    ReplyDelete
  26. Of HP's players, which one is better than that group?

    ReplyDelete
  27. Yes they do, Chen! Do you even know what your talking about???

    ReplyDelete
  28. Agree. Chen belongs on the second list.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Chen is on HP's team? I did not know they had a Chen. If y ou mean Peter Chan, then maybe but no Chen.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Chen? Do you know what you are talking about? In fairness, I don't know Chen or Chan but HP has no Chen.

  31. It was a typo - get over yourself.
