4.0 Week 5

4.0 even after 4 weeks has a lot of question marks but I think in a few weeks things will flesh out and start to get more interesting. It is just tough right now to know how good teams are since there does seem to be a downgrade in competition (damn 3.5 studs having brought their A game, yet?) I do think the playoff teams will be solid come November.

Flight A
I would love to guarantee a 5-0 victory to make our 15th fan happy but we are just worried about wins until they hand out awards for stats. We were a little lucky on the Village lineup, they told me they didn't have their best players available so the match wasn't quite as close as it would have been. Springpark plays that same Village team this week so come on Kyle Rhodes come out and play now that we are gone. I have to say Fretz maybe the best 0-4 team ever they keep losing close ones every week.

Flight B
This flight is about to get more interested thanks to HP/Somabut who takes on unbeaten LBH/Hicks this weekend. I expect them to bring their best but LBH is tough and I expect this MOW to be close. OC has off this week so they remain undefeated for another week.

Flight C
I see a couple of good matchups this week as BH puts their undefeated record up against a solid Garland team whose playoff life is pretty much on the line this. Sorry dirty Garland it is put up or shut up time with a loss you will not be playing in late November. With that said I thnk Garland has the weapons to win this match and I am going with the upset, why not... Also LTF takes on Hackberry who is quietly 2-1 but if they pull off an upset it will be a loud one. They have some solid players so depending on wh0 comes out this could get good. I like Team Eddie 3-2.

Flight D
This flight is good as much as you all hate to admit it. There are five solid teams in this flight so I think it will be hard to go undefeated in this flight but TBar and BH/Bartlett are sure trying their best. This flight should have a MOW every week in fact I see two Greenhill v. TBar and Lakes v. BH/Bartlett. I actually think I like the upset in both and we will not have a undefeated team left in this flight come Sunday night. Come on GH and Lakes don't let me down.

  1. Come on Cary. Lifetime 3-2 over Hackberry? Liftime should not lose another line until playoffs. It should be very interesting to see how the Garland/BH match goes. As a FOL I must root for Garland.

LBH and HP should be a great match. LBH wins a close one.

HP/Bazan seems to be playing with fire watch out next week.

    Flight D stinks.

  2. Lakes will try to make one happen for you Cary. It would be nice to have everything bunched at the top.
Flight D does have strong parity thus i havent understood all the hatin' on the flight.

  3. Come On Carey, you put out new thread just when the other one was getting interesting.

  4. You must not have read your packet all they way now Cary. They ARE handing out awards now for stats.

$20 gift card and ATP pro tour cards for all team members. It was in the fine print. extra small. Red Ink. Right below all the disclaimers. Look for it tonight. I am sure you will see it there. Plain as day.

Only look when you can take a break from the two-a-days practices you need to be running. Rise and Shine KMart, its time for 6 am practice.

  5. Isn't Kmart the one with a....?

  8. Top 3 groupings in Dallas 4.0

    Somabut
    Lifetime
    Tbar M

    OC2
    Lakes
    Dirty

    Bazan
    Bartlett
    Brookhaven

    ReplyDelete
  9. i dont think i would put TBARM in the first grouping; maybe the second or third based on their undefeated start. i think they will go down at least once.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Take lifetime out of the 1st grouping and put Springpark there.

    ReplyDelete
  11. ummm. you could argue either one of the Brookhaven's into group 1, but certainly group 2. Heck, the lakes just got beat. That should put them in the 3rd grouping?

Being a homer, I definitely keep Lifetime in group 1, not just for obvious reasons of being a homer, but I will just stop there.

should be a good match in flight D this week. Very interested to see how that match turns out.

Finally, It will be interesting to see if the Lucky's prediction of Springpark being a solid team holds true. And, I have to agree w/ Lucky again in that you don't get style points in this league and maybe #15 you need to lighten up a little bit. Just cause your having a bad day or whatever does not mean that 4.0 league sucks all the sudden.

  12. Top six teams in order.

    1. Lifetime
    2. HP/Somabut
    3. Brookhaven/Pearlman
    4. HP/Bazan
    5. LB Houston
    6. T Bar M

What is the basis for your ranking. I noticed there were unbeaten teams not on the list and teams that are 0-3 on the list.

  16. This is anon 1114 pm

shouldn't be any 0-3 teams on that list.

    BH Pearlman and Bartlett
    TBar M Flight D
    OC - 3-0 team (Smith) - Not OC2
    Somabut 1 loss
    Lifetime 1 loss
    Dirty 1 loss
    Bazan 1 loss

    ReplyDelete
  17. I'm surprised that Bazan's team has only 1 loss. The team committee must be limiting his time on the court.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Bazan's team is 4-0 with three relatively easy matches coming until they face Springpark in their final match of the season.

    ReplyDelete
  19. thanks for the clarification, I was trying to remember when we lost a match. I had to hop on tennislink to make sure I didn't take a nap during one of our wins.

Can we regrouped now? I don't want to be in the 3rd group with the losers anymore.

oh and that is what i get for being overanxious in posting the week outlook as Flight B had a big upset as LTF/Barron beat LBH/Hicks. I am not sure what to think of LBH they have talent but always seem to come up with losses like this. I find it hard to see them making it to the playoffs now not with Garland and HP and OC still on their schedule.

    ReplyDelete
  20. BTW Bazan's 15th player I am sorry to demote you to 16th player since we just added one yesterday. I still appreciate your unabashed enthusiasm, we hope to put on a better show over the next couple of weeks for you and the stat mongers.

    ReplyDelete
  21. And I was really attached to my handle too.

I was doing 15 pushups, 15 sit ups, and 15 crunches in preperation. I just tried to do 16 of each, but this demotion has really taken a lot of me.

  25. That was and ender!

  26. Hey, I don't think this is supposed to be a site like that.
Aren't there other places to do that? I don't see comments like that being nothing but disrespectful.

    ReplyDelete
  27. I wonder if Bazan will Continue to stack his doubles line this weekend hoping for another 3-2 win

    ReplyDelete
  28. This team will be successfully captained, cough cough, to a 3-2, tie break win, regardless of the (lack of...) quality of the team that we are playing. :)

  29. The Looping Backhand Pirate has done an outstanding job uprighting his ship.

  30. I can't believe The Big Fish is dissing us after our gigantic win over LBH!

    ReplyDelete
  31. whose dissing you guys. That was nice, too bad you have two losses already or I would say you all might have a shot at coming back.

Stacking my lineup? Maybe in match 2 but only in what turned out to a good bout of premonition on my part as Brookhaven did the same. I always want to play straight up but if I have to stack to find that straight up lineup I will do so.

BTW, I just heard a rumor that 16th player/fan you might become 17th. I just wanted to warn you before you started any new regimens.

you have to reveal yourself in November. I truly have no clue although I have one guess but I will hold that thought.

  33. Cary,
Let me know when you can use a "strong" 17th Man. My brother Steve is good, but heck he is no "SUPERMAN"

    ReplyDelete
  34. Alright Cary I will reveal myself come end of season.

Just look for anyone giving u suspicious looks at practice.

I will think of a new handle that isn't quite so long too, that was too much.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Team Eddie wins 5-0 this weekend. Look out Hackers....I mean Hackberry

    ReplyDelete
  36. alright Bazan, I have changed my handle to 24. I dare you to take away that handle!!!

In the meantime, since you have added yet 2 MORE players, I have officially upped my training schedule. I am now doing 24" wind sprints. I will be doing 24 of them.

In order to not get too tired, I have broken it into 1 wind sprint per hour.

I have done 2 already, and although, it has taken a lot out of me, I really want to be in tip top shape.

Just so you know, footwork is definitely the key and I have already shaved off quite a bit of time. I think there should be a drastic improvement in my speed by the end of the week. I will let you know how it goes.

And Mr. Kent, welcome to the blog. I think I like the rebuttal. Well executed.

    ReplyDelete
  37. i like clark kent's choices of movies. lolol!

  41. CAREY,

There are a few post on the 3.5 threads that are HIGHLY OFFENSIVE. They seem to be posted by someone signing under the handle "MIKE GETZ". Would you mind deleting them as my 8 year old daughter reads this from time to time. I knew you would want to take care of this for the publics interest. You're doing a great job! Thanks in advance.

    ReplyDelete
  42. emmm. No. I think only the 4 letter word that starts w F should be deleted. shit, damn, hell, and ass are all legitimate non offensive words. Even to 8 year olds.

Plus, you can't even spell Cary's name right. For that you get an F.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Cary,

I'm with 9:56 and some of those post on 3.5 should be deleted. I, too, have a child that signs on to this site and he is in the 5th grade. I do not want him repeating the pus**y, a**hole, suc**ng etc. words in school or at church. I knew you would understand!!! Thanks for your time.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Cary,

    I was poster October 2, 2008 10:06 PM

I did not read all the words he had actually posted on the website. I did not catch it until after my post. I agree. All getz comments need to be deleted just to make a point. In fact, we may need to scrub and delete the full thread.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Mr. Bazan,

My two children read these posts sometimes. That being said, I do not agree that all of Getz's post should be deleted. But certainly, there are a few that should be. The others should be left so that readers can judge for themselves regarding Mr. Getz.

    ReplyDelete
  46. I remember last season when most of postings used to be about upcoming matches and players to watch out for.

My good friend Jimmy Olson would cringe at all of this and say, Gee Willikers what is up with these people??

    ReplyDelete
  47. There ain't no damn kids reading this shit,

There are only like a dozen people who ever come here and just post under ANON

  48. Well anyway. The biggest 4.0 match of the week seems to be Lifetime/Hill vs Hackberry. If LTF is for real and as good as advertised they need to win 4-1 or 5-0. Hackberry is a good team that just beat the mess out of Garland. Hey Eddie time to put up or Shut up.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Hey Cary,

My 2 year old twins like to blog on this site and I try and get them to expand there vocabulary so I think you should keep all posts as is, if they dont like it they can go to other sites!!!

    Mike Getz

    ReplyDelete
  50. Lifetime sucks! They are the most overrated bunch of windbags in 4.0, if they were half as good playing as they are talking they would all be 5.0s (which is where Eddie thinks he should be anyway).

    ReplyDelete
  51. Yep LTF is a tad overrated by Cary and Eddie. They cannot win w/o Forrest and Eddie on the court. But look at Cary's team. He is letting Noaman and Kent lose and they still win.

Cary for VP, get rid of that Palin chick.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Overated??? It seems minus their one slip up that LTF is taking people to school and Eddie is the bus driver. Imagine what their team would be like with Eddie! They are well on their way to another City championship and I think they will fare much better this time around.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Lifetime RULES!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  54. That's sooooo gay.

    ReplyDelete
  55. another city championship?

What city was that exactly, Northwest Plano below 121 but not East of Custer or West of Preston.

    ReplyDelete
  56. City playoff.......sorry

  57. I can't believe "The Big Fish" is not going to reconize our accomplishment last weekend w/ LB Houston. Bmo the boyz are getting restless and they are wanting to blog about you. So far I have managed to hold them back but you know how stubborn they can be. After all you were one of us once upon a time. Please do me and yourself a big favor and post something about our team. Brother, have you forgotten your roots?

    ReplyDelete
  58. LOL. I like that win of LTF Barron win last week. If the match had been posted by Sunday night, I would have given a shout out much earlier, but did not hear until just recently.

    ReplyDelete
  59. That SAID:

I like the comeback of LTF Barron. I see a 4-1 win or better this next week (better shoot for 5-0), but your true test is going to be Somabut the following week. This weekend would be a good chance to set your lineups to test them for the following week.

I saw several of yall practicing Friday afternoon, so nice job on the extra work.

New kids AR & AR beat a solid team. Andy I think is back this week now. Hard to blog for this team though right now, just like hard to blog about Hill team. Just not a lot of big matches coming up.

Your big match is next week.

    ReplyDelete
  60. looks like an previous LTF player might be in that match as Pat Taillat just registered to Somabut's team. He is picking up singles scraps from wherever he can get them.

I think this LTF team has a chance to beat them next week.

    ReplyDelete
  61. HP Somabut will have his big guns for the match against LB. Or at least he better

    ReplyDelete
  62. Bmo,

Thanks for mentioning us. Don't forget us next week. No more reminders or wake up calls.

    ReplyDelete
  63. What big guns? Looks like they are DOG PADDELING just to keep their heads above water.
