4.5 Week 4

A few results came in over the weekend but nothing mindboggling although preseason contender HP/Loose doesn't look that great and is probably out of the running in a tough flight.

4.5 MOW has to be OC/Branch v. Northwood/Noel. Time/place? Should be a good match. I have a feeling Corey's crew can't match up in singles but they have solid doubles players to hang with Branch's crew. I like Team Rusty to jump up in the standings after this one. OC/Bovermann v. Greenhill should also have some playoff implications with the loser all but done in a flight where one of these would have to overtake Branch and Noel's teams along with Brookhaven. Speaking of BH, they have CC this week and need to step it up and get another win or be left out this fall.

in Flight B
I would call it a match of the week but the Lakes is still unproven in my book but they have a chance to show they are for real v. Royal Oaks this weekend. Springpark v. OC/Feldman could be a good match as well. High Point plays a bottom dweller in LBH but they haven't been overpowering anyone so each week is a test for them.

  1. 4-1 Branch if they bring a decent roster.

But who knows. The fall is such a crapshoot w/ small rosters & guys not really playing their best (b/c of little practice).

  2. We are playing at Northwood on Saturday at 2 p.m. I expect them to bring their best lineup.

  3. Northwood is way out of level. It wouldn't surprise me if 1 or 2 of their players get DQ'ed. Northwood 4-1!

  4. IN NANCY WE TRUST
    Go Northwood!!!

  5. should make for some interesting tennis. does Northwood have a "Slezak killer" like Frank Vo lying around? Slezak seems to be wrist deep in mixed right now, probably won't show for a man's match.

  6. I hear Slezak lost a practice "men's" doubles match to two pathetic doubles players. Just a rumor I heard.

  7. Really, wow I must suck then. Guess I should just go join another team!!!!
    Slezak

  8. One more thing Slezak. Go Ravens!

  9. Branch 5-0 over the pretenders from Northwood.

  10. I don't expect Chris to play singles, but you never know. It wouldn't surprise me to see the debut of Nick Smith. I'm already down a couple players so it will be even tougher. (Yes I am pulling out the excuses already :)

  11. Sleezak would love to play this weekend, but he accidently broke his racket at some point last week.

  12. Nancy is coming off a nice win against Frank Vo. Northwood is on a roll and confidence is high. Look out Branch.

  13. Branch been overrated for a while now, just look at teams performances at sectionals. He's been desperately recruiting youngsters for years now but still the lineups are getting old. That given, they will still probably kick nancy's gaggle of hens.

  14. Hens? Okay. Branch's team made the semifinals of Sectionals last season by the way. I wouldn't call that a poor performance.

  15. RUMOR REPORT :
AR will make his first suprise appearance this weekend for team Branch, win the deciding singles match, and is going to be carried off on his new best friends shoulders while the singing of the star spangled banner is playing softly in the background by the Northwood All-Boys Choir.

  16. haha, wish I could play, but I will be sitting in a class all day Saturday for adoption and then Sunday I'll be riding the shoulder of my 3.0 partner in 2 7.5 Combo Matches.

Sorry to disappoint you guys, but no AR Hacker Superstar, this weekend.

  18. Yep, "crusty" branch's team is pretty much done for, Northwood is the future of Dallas tennis.

  19. agreed - branch's team is old, washed up, out of shape, and will have problems competing with the group of rag-tags they have put toghether.

    we should call this match:
Rag Tags VS Gaggle of Hens.

    ReplyDelete
  20. not sure I would be poking the "rag tags" with a stick. motivation is a powerful thing, even for the old, out of shape, underachieving, tanking, no racquet Branchers

    ReplyDelete
  21. Thanks for giving branch's team bulletin board material. I'm pretty sure that wasn't one of my guys since they don't read this.

    ReplyDelete
  22. I just hope Nancy gets to play singles and rub crusty's nose in it.

  26. And you're the one who can't find your way out of 4.5??? It's a ball and YOU hold the racket, now hit the ball with the racket...Whats sooo hard about that?

    ReplyDelete
  27. does anyone what weekend 4.5 sectionals will be played in august 09 ?

    ReplyDelete
  28. I'm not sure that date has been picked yet but Cary usually knows all that stuff.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Why? Are you planning to clear your schedule this early in advance?

    ReplyDelete
  30. Yes I have it all locked up.

  31. Man, that Northwood captain is a genius. That match turned out exactly like he planned.

Seriously, it was a very hard-fought match and I hope Ron stays on the doubles court. We were down in all five lines so I'm very happy we were able to win 3 of them.
Hopefully we will keep this momentum rolling into the playoffs. I also wanted to rub it in the face of the vast majority of people who picked Branch to win.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Threw the lambs to slaughter at the #1 positions huh.

Well done. It's all about which team is hungrier in the fall.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Yes, including myself. Based on the lineup, I honestly wouldn't have been surprised if the match turned out 5-0 or 0-5. That's how close I thought all of the matches could have been.

    ReplyDelete
  34. great now we get to see Corey prance around like Rupaul because he took out Branch in the Fall League.
    YEAH!!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  35. What is Mike Getz doing posting in our 4.5 stuff? Isn't he a 3.5 hacker tourament player. How sad to be so lonely!! Mike, stay in 3.5 threads or GET A LIFE!!!!

  36. Corey Noel said "...I also wanted to rub it in the face of the vast majority of people who picked Branch to win."

Ahhh, I see now, you are a douche. What a clueless thing to write.
