City Schedule. Time for the Season to FInally Start

City Playoffs Information is on the link below.

City Playoff Information and Schedule

The second week of the post-season is finally here.  This is the weekend when things get interesting.  The scrubs have all been dismissed.

5.0  is a 3 team knockout format.  TBar is in the finals already and  Lakes v Village play for the honor of taking on TBar.  I still think the Village has the best roster but with only playing three lines, it will be tight.  I have to go with the Village in a couple of 2-1 wins.

4.5  is a 4 team Round Robin.  The teams are Oak Creek/Herget, JCC/Reiman, Brookhaven/Harllee and Fretz/Noel.

When the season started, I went with JCC and nothing has changed.  The big question is whether Dallas receives a wildcard.  In 4.5, we haven't always received a wildcard.  All four teams are capable of winning matches at sectionals but I think only Michael's team has any real aspirations of getting to Nationals.

4.0 has 2 flights with 3 teams each.  I hate the flighted city playoffs because it can come down to the flight you are in.  Dallas has always received a 4.0 wildcard so no reason to think that won't change.  Regardless, the team probably needs to win just in case there is no wildcard.

Red Flight has Oasis/Moehler, Garland/Sisk and Oak Creek/Wei-Bin Lai.  I like Garland to take this flight with ease and advance to the finals.

Blue Flight has High Point/Le, Brookhaven/Bartlett and Oak Creek/Head.  I like High Point to flex its muscle and win this flight with ease as well.

Finals will be High Point in a rout.

3.5 is a 4 team Round Robin.  The teams are LB Houston/Tinner, McKinney/Jones, Oak Creek/Wei-Bin Lai and Fretz/Clark.  I will go with Fretz based on reputation although at a glance, the record wasn't very impressive.

3.0 apparently has no playoff so I will go with High Point/Bender as it is already wrapped up.

It is city playoffs!  Lets hear some trash talk or at least intelligent discourse.

  1. I pick Le's 4.5 team to win 4.0 cities in a blow out. He should have played FW league, had the Aguilars take some losses over there bec that league is so weak and they would have flown under the radar. Most of the FW players are 3.5 bump ups.

    1. FW team might beat Tony Le. They pretty good.

    2. Rigney's Ft Worth team has jus as may sandbaggers as everyone else.
He had 4.5 players self rate at 3.5 so when they got bumped up they would be moved to 4.0 instead of 4.5.

He also had his 4.5 players fake injuries to move down to 4.0,
I'm not saying that they can beat Dallas or Houston, but they are far from 3.5 bump ups

    3. If that is the case, Todd Reed needs to look into those guys. If we get called out for it, why shouldn't they?

    4. Zackary on that FW team as well.

    5. Zackry only signed up there team bec that was the only way of getting to sectionals. He was not doing it on Ohl team. He will hop teams to get a better shot to get where he needs to go. He is not a main cog buy someone who rides the coat tails of the guys that are prime time players. He will either tank a big match or just not show up. Evidenced by being nowhere in sight when Ohl played Le.

    6. July 21 at 9:18 is Mike Z. No doubt. Someone needs to tell him to quit posting. He has very few people left to play for and the number is dwindling to zero.

    7. Agreeed. Zacry burned one too many bridges. Alan A done, Sisk done, Le done and Ohl done. He might get a desperate FW team to let him play but playing days in Dallas over.

    8. Alan A , Sisk and OHl still good terms with Zackary
      Period...

    9. 3:40 is Zacry posting again because of the "period" at the end. Anyway, they are not ok with him. let's see who asks him to play on their team next year. Since you "didnt turn in Le players" why isnt le ok w you?

    10. What was there to turn in? If Tiny is honest, there isn't anything.

      Delete
    11. He did create his own team and couldn't get to 40s mixed sectionals with Kern and Kelly. How bad were his women or his line 3?

      Delete
    12. kelly tanked and zacry got beat at line 3.

      Delete
    13. why would someone tank in a mixed city playoff?? Does not count in your rating and if you spent all season winning, it certainly isn't going to change perception.

  2. I love Head to flex its muscles, followed by Bender over........oh, they advanced already.

  3. Might as well go ahead and cancel playoffs. Reiman has it won, no need to play. Geez.

  4. Any feedback on 4.0 having two teams from the QT go to cities?
One QT winner would have allowed a five team round robin.
Is the only reason to have less matches?
A round robin would have been better to determine the second best team in case of a wildcard.
DTA at it's best? (sarcasm intended)

    1. The DTA thinks they are doing everyone a favor by having as many teams as possible in the playoffs. Congrats on the participation medals.

  6. Absolutely ridiculous that 4.0 is flighted. ALL CITY PLAYOFFS should be round-robin. That's the only way you'll find a true champion. Come on, Brandon and Sherri, get with the program already!!!

    1. I like it. You should talk to the Big XII.

  7. You guys have no idea just how good Rigney's 4.0 Hurst team is. They're loaded with strong players. Don't be fooled by individual results during the regular season, or NTRP ratings. They'll have no problem winning at least 3 out of 5 courts against any team they face. You'll see.

  8. Now thats funny!

  9. Why would FW even be discussed here, especially since their city playoffs are over. Zackary just can't stop posting.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I'm not Zackary but I can tell you Rigney's team is for real. We didn't even think about the 3.5s in the roster and then they beat everyone. I hear Todd Reed is looking into them.

      Delete
    2. Rigney's 4.0 team is loaded with ringers, especially some of the Asian players. Plus, there is a guy who has an incredible serve and huge shots that has obviously been kept under the radar on purpose (sandbagging). Yes, there are a few legit 4.0 guys who will win some and lose some (without sandbagging). But remember, Rigney only needs to win 3 of 5 courts in each match. I'm telling you, the ringers can easily be strategically placed to ensure 3 courts win the match. Besides that, they have Zacry, a strong 4.0 player whose only downfall is 2.5-level grammar.

    3. Why talk bad about Zackary? He hasn't done anything wrong.

    2. Come on, put your best out and play hard. I can see Le choking. Outside his Aguilar, who does he have that we haven't seen before?

      Delete
  13. I agree, just play. Tony probably wins sectionals and I will be cheering them at nationals. As long ads he plays his best players, I don't see any team he can't beat. He just has to be careful not to get nagged into playing his middle of the roster players. He has an 8 best players and he needs to use his 8 best.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Who are his top 8 players?

    1. Need to ask him.

    2. Aguilar
      Delapaz
      Tran
      Le
      Alarid
      J. Kemp
      Lenz
      Aguilar
      Gilson
      Scott
      Wilson

The rest are pretty good too.

      Delete
    3. Which are the best ones?

      Delete
  15. Once you get to sectionals, it all comes down to the match ups. Which captain can pick the right line ups. Do you put your best players at line 1 or do you stack. Which ever captains can pick the right line ups will win.

  16. I heard Dallas isn't getting a wildcard in 4.0 this year. Has anybody confirmed this with the DTA?

    ReplyDelete

    1. Austin is taking a page from the DTA playbook and trying to get some of the unfamiliar names playoff time. Wildcards this year to Lubbock, Amarillo, NETX and SETX.

      Delete
    2. If someone doesn't show it will probably be Midland, San Angelo or the Valley.

      Delete
  17. They all suck. It's will be between Dallas and Houston. Don't count out Oasis. They called me to play for them and said they have a lot of former college players who sand bags or did what ever it takes to get to 4.0. But, if le doesn't win, it will be a huge screw up. It's funny to see people tank and then get beat.

  18. I have been reading above and why you keep talking about Zacry other than he keeps posting to keep his name going I guess is beyond me???. he is an average 4.0 and has done nothing. He lost a huge 7.0 match against Le. he has ducked Le twice in 4.0, once not even showing up and the second time dumped Greg ohl to go to a FW team so as not to face Tony until sectionals. He has dissed his teammates and there arent hardly any captains left who will let him play on there team. he turned in Tonys guys, said he didnt then said he did. If he didnt keep posting about himself he would be a speck on the tennis radar. Guearanteed he will not play singles against Tony team for fear of losing. And that the twuth. period.

    ReplyDelete
  19. he will not play single against Le most likely not even play.

    1. Unless they are in the same flight, I doubt they play each other. Rigney is all talk and will lose his first match then dump all of his matches just like every year.

  21. Does we know if Dallas got any wildcards for divisions?

    ReplyDelete

    1. Rumor is no. You need to ask the DTA. The USTA will tell them but not anyone else. It is up to them to let us know.

      Delete
    2. Why won't the DTA tell us? They used to tell us ahead of time.

      Delete
  22. given the propensity for certain captains to cheat, I imagine they do not want captains to be able to collude or approach the weekend differently

    1. I guess they haven't noticed how we don't get along very well.

  23. About 10-12 years ago USTA Texas published the full sectional flights including which cities got a wild card and what flight each specific wild card was in. Bob Somabut dumped the city finals that year because he thought the wild card had an easier flight than the city champion. USTA still puts out the flights before cities and tells the city tennis associations whether they get a wild card or not but Dallas now has he only city association that refuses to tell its captains whether there is a wild card or not.
When Steve Nolan was in charge he instructed the DTA not to disclose any wild card information and they are still keeping it to themselves. And the DTA is the only major city in Texas that does this. I know for a fact that Houston, Austin and San Antonio already knows because captains in those towns have told me and one even showed me the sectionals flights. It no longer shows which city wild card is in which flight until after all city playoffs are done so the DTA is just doing this to screw Dallas teams.

    1. how does knowing or not knowing "screw" Dallas teams?
It doesn't but that won't stop you girls from bitching about it.

      Delete
    2. LOL...you must work for the DTA with that attitude. When every other city tells their captains if a wild card was awarded and the all knowing DTA does not, it's just another example of what a pain in the ass the DTA is to work with.

      Delete
  24. is this the same Steve Nolen that had "phantom" 4.5 results because he could not field a 4.5 roster any week in 40's last year?? Interesting. Guess the apple doesnt fall far from the DTA tree.
