DCC Underway

The games have begun and I have to say this looks like it will be a lot closer than I thought. Oh let me rephrase, the 4.0 DCC will be close. The 4.5 looks like it will be quick and easy. Well Team Corey did have a nice sweep to start out the DCC over Brookhaven but it is early but OC cruised past High Point tonight in what some thought might be there best test. I was surprised to see Gene Davis get taken to a tiebreaker v. Komshon but Mr. Sudhi is tough.

But enough about those guys with skillz, let's talk some 4.0.

Team BMO is now 0-2 v. Lakes. I drank the kool-aid too early on this team I guess although it isn't over yet. Or is it? That lineup for the Lakes although it has a massive drop off after line 1 doubles it will still be tough to beat and I think they were missing one or two players that played in the last win over GH. Garland edged out a win over Brookhaven, Zackary barely beat Archer to make this 3-2. If Garland fields that lineup again Greenhill and the Lakes will have a chance to take this flight. Luckily the young kids did play well. No Obannon??????

In the other flight, JCC got overmatched and the mightly Lutes and Reiman got taken down by Minchul and the donut man. WTF??? Next thing you are going to tell me BMO is rated 4.5 and BP fixed the oil spill. What? He is....and they did? I give up. In the High Point v. Garland rematch, Team Bob eeked out a win but it did not look pretty as Pearson edged out a win over Don Harvey, former 3.5 star from two years ago. I think the oddsmaker might have to change some numbers after looking at this result. If the thought of Lifetime winning didn't make me queasy I might make them the favorite but I don't want to make any rash judgements.

Best of luck to all of you tomorrow and stay cool. I will be at the pool but I will be thinking about you all, oh who I am kidding. I hope to be toasted by 3p.

  1. Looks like Somabut's experience and instincts as a captain were a big factor in his team's 3-2 win over Garland-Brueckner last night. He correctly anticipated that Garland would switch Singh to #2 singles in an effort to get a favorable match-up. He put Taylor at #2, which is a bad match-up for Garland. If Singh could have played Pearson, it might have been a different outcome.

  2. Clearly lakes regular season win over greenhill was not a fluke! They won that match on the court. I don't think Bmo could have fielded a stronger lineup! Congrats to the lakes team!

  3. Lifetime will advance to the Sectionals and will have to sweat out Monday waiting for any disqualifications to be announced.

  4. Lifetime beats HP Somabut
    GH beats Sisk
    Brueckner beats JCC
    Lakes beats BH

  5. Nice win Lifetime!

  6. As predicted, lifetime moves on. New world order has arrived. Arcaria's ringers delivered, others didn't. And GTC got swept in doubles by GH. Wow... Looks like GTC scratches out third? Time for Bob and John to start reloading for next year.

  7. As predicted Lifetime moves on? Seems like everyone was expecting Team Bob to win that match and the flight.

  8. Bet BMO wishes he would have played for Lifetime right about now.

  9. BMo is still alive. They need Sisk to beat the Lakes and will come down to tie beakers. But I am sure he never expected the Lifetime team to be this good or he probably would have played for them.

  10. Might be time to move Wertz back to doubles.

  11. What I saw today is those young Garland ringers were not so much ringers. The guy that played Oleg was pretty good but Moreman/Rogers looked clueless. Where is Courtney?

I watched the some of the Wertz match and I am not sure what happened but he imploded. He was awful. The other guy was not very good but Wertz was really bad.

The Lakes continue to roll. The Blakes are unstoppable. I think the Lakes win 2 singles lines and a doubles line and advance leaving Sisk and BMO wondering what happened.

  12. What a horrible day for GTC Sisk teams. Both 3.5 and 4.0 teams lose and look to be done. Where is GTC guy now to tell us how great Sisk teams are?

  13. Bazan,
How about some recognition for Gerber's big win.

  14. JCC, Somabut is bringing his A team against you in hopes of still making sectionals. I hope you are ready to pull the upset!

  15. What has he been saving the A Team for? High Point has to sweep JCC, and then hope that Garland-Brueckner beats Lifetime by the score of 3-2, no more and no less. I believe my math is correct.

  16. It's going to be a shell game for Somabut. He is going to be up all night trying to figure out which shell Lutes and Reiman are under. He has to use Taylor with probably Bearden in doubles and hope that he can match that tandem against Lutes and Reiman. If I'm not mistaken, Lutes used to play for Somabut. I'm not sure if there is any bad blood, but I expect those two guys to be pulling out all the stops against whoever Somabut plays.

  18. Nice try but that wasn't me. Don't need any praise from Bazan or anyone else for that matter, winning as underdogs and the queasy feeling that Bazan and others are feeling is good enough for me.

  19. You all, Sisk doubters, will see tomorrow how he is going to win the red flight. He lost today to a good team. Lakes team has no depth and Sisk's team has good depth. Lakes are tired and will lose ground versus fresh garland ringers. 2 double teams of Lakes are a joke. Only JJ and HAns did well so far. I predict Garland takes 4 or even 5 lines from Lakes. BH and GH match will be close, but BH has strong dubs. It will be 3-2. It does not matter whose way (BH or GH). Sisk will advance on breakers. I will tell you tomorrow "told you so"...

If Lakes advances tomorrow, this is an embarrassment to Dallas League tennis and especially to Sisk and BMO for letting it happen. The team with 3 and only 3 competitive lines (Blakes in singles and JJ/Hans) continues to secure 3 possible wins every time to keep advancing.

Blue flight... congrats to Lifetime. thanks for proving that teams are as good as its players and not captains. It doesn't matter shit that Bob is such a great captain. He is a toast. He barely escaped Bruekner's team and received the punishment from LTF. Taylor showed that he is not that great.... straight set loss.

    Final tomorrow LTF vs Garland/Sisk.

  21. Bob would have to enlighten us but tennislink only goes back to 2002 and he has never missed out on sectionals with a team he captained. The run had to end sometime. Still wondering about Quist and others, maybe they were not available or as good as who played. Who knows but good luck to Greenhill and LTF at sectionals. This year no one knows which flight to avoid to not see team Freeman since they are still playing.

    ReplyDelete
  22. None of the Dallas teams have a chance against Freeman. He has several high end 4.5 singles players and the deepest doubles roster in Texas.

  23. here is your awfully cocky GTC fan...

well I was right on Lakes. They could not pull it out. it was in their hands... win and qualify.
Sisk was a little off on line-ups and with Zach out of town, it was tough to win 1 or 2 more lines from cocky lakes.

As bazan predicted (even he knows something...), Lakes are 3rd!!

I am way surprised with GH 5-0 beating of BH. Brad, how much did they pay you??? To BMO's credit, he pulled out pathetic Bergeron and Wertz from singles. Oleg and AJ should have played from the start.

GTC will reload and come back next year. please put cocky lakes in our flight!!

  24. Someone posted Obannon's criminal record in the "4.0QT Upcoming thread". Someone might want to delete that, just saying.

  25. Sisk gets bad captaining of the week. He goes 6-0 in singles and still cannot win. He has some good doubles players that he did not use. Clark and Wiley did not play Saturday. Corcoran did not play Friday. Wiley is better than Hutchinson. I don't know anything about Zeller so I don't know. I saw Rogers play and every player I mentioned is better than that guy. Sisk's bad karma comes back. Where was your criminal?

  26. Congratulations to Bender, Bent Tree, Arcaria and Morrison. I enjoyed all the matches and cpt/players company. Bartlett did the right thing to play people who otherwise wouldn't have played. I'll be out to watch in two weeks. GO BIG D!!!!

  27. 2:13-----let it go. We're done! Can you tell me who, if, or when anyone was available?? Let's look forward!

  28. Does anyone get the feeling Arcaria put Carey/Huynh together to lose on purpose?

    ReplyDelete
  29. With all due respect to Sisk and Somabut, and much like Tom Landry, it's time to move on, there's a new sheriff in town that goes by Arcaria! You guys did your thing, but you are too predictable now and people know what you are up to and can read you like a kindergarden short story.

Congratulations to Morrison, he couldn't beat the Lakes but he out-foxed Foy. Foy must be kicking himself in the ass right now and may go back to his mountainous hermit ways for a while.

It's unbelievable that tennis only joints like the Lakes and Highpoint get owned by the likes of Lifetime and Greenhill.

To all the naysayers and haters, GO SUCK IT !!!!

  30. I would never have players lose on purpose. They are better singles players who lost to a good doubles team. Regardless of what happened in that match other than my guys blowing them out it would not make a difference come Monday being they have already played 2 other matches this weekend. We wanted to win the DCC and get all our players qualified at the same time and that is what we did. BMo did the same.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Congratulations to GH BMO and LFT Arcaria.

Their teams played great tennis this weekend and they deserve to be playing in the Sectional Tournament in a couple of weeks.

    Best of Luck!

  32. GTC put out it's weakest tourney lineup on Saturday. Of course they lost. Brookhaven put out it's weakest lineup Sunday and got rocked. What did GH have to pay to get two captains to lay down for them? Whatever it cost it was a good investment.

    ReplyDelete
  33. yeah, well GH put up a weakest line-up on Friday for Lakes... so it all evens out.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Sisk had a decent line up on the doubles that he thought would have gotten them a 3-2 win.

On the other hand, I have to say that GH did not come up with their top doubles team, Shanks and Palacioz, who were the winners of the Plano Open. If they had played on line 3, then Lakes would have been spared with all this roller coaster misery. This is almost like teasing a kid with the candy and then pulling it out at the last minute. That must feel awful.

  35. grats to GH and LIfetime. short memories everyone has and Jump on the bandwagon quickly everyone do. Sisk and Somabut display years of winning and consistency. Dont ever discount that. One hit wonders happen all the time, but providing results time in and time is not easy.

  36. Morrison got lucky and was able to overcome his Friday night mistake of sitting Oleg for the Lakes match. I doubt he will make that mistake at Sectionals.

Bob was not so lucky in his apparent decision to sit Quist for the Lakes match on Saturday. I saw Quist watching the match on Saturday. He played on Sunday, so apparently he was healthy. It appears Somabut made a major lineup error if that was the case.
