4.0 QT Next Weekend

So one week till the QT starts so we might as well start the smack talking. Two teams will advance because of Brookhaven's finish in flight A. This makes each match very important, should be a great weekend of tennis.

Odds to advance:
Greenhill (EVEN)
If not for a slip up early in the season this team would be in the DCC, but as we all know (especially me) early season slip ups will come back to haunt you. I think this team matches up well especially since there is no amazing singles players in this mix of teams. My only concern is the number of self rates that are already flirting with expulsion. Having to play more matches cannot be a good thing if this team has August aspriations.

Garland (5 to 1)
On paper this team doesn't do much to excite me but I cannot argue with their results in a solid flight A. My apprehension from making them a lock would be their lack of depth. I think they have a solid 8 that they used against Bob's team but is there anyone that can step in. Vijay will be the most important player along with Kingsley and Sierp, if those three are on this team should do well..

Brookhaven (8 to 1)
This is a hard pick between Garland and Brookhaven. I like the doubles teams of Burt's better than Garland but I think for the most part their match will be a 3-2 toss up. Echeverry and Boccara will be key in that match up. Is Arenas going to see more singles time or will he help out in doubles?

Canyon Creek (25 to 1)
It is a good thing for this team I am picking them so low because I did the same in the regular season and look where they ended up. The match I have to look at to see how far this team can go is their match v. JCC. The match wasn't close at all and that is the level of play they will see from the top 3 teams in this QT.

Village/Gordon (Pick a large number to 1)
I didn't realize they had made it into the QT until I just pulled up the schedule. Actually just looking over their roster Crow was a good pick up and Angulo is solid. Durand and Ravoof are very capable players but there is just not enough depth or star players to make me think this team can be competitive.

Big matches:
Friday night:
Garland v. Brookhaven (This could decide 2nd place very early)

Saturday afternoon:
Greenhill v. Brookhaven ( If there is a team that can take out BMo and crew it would happen here)

Sunday morning:
Greenhill v. Garland (Depending on what happens in the other two matches this one will either decide seeding in the DCC or who makes it in.)

  1. Cary,

Pretty good analysis. I think it will come down to Garland and Greenhill. They both have solid singles with good doubles options. You forgot the Odulio brothers as another solid doubles line for Garland. Both teams need to make sure they don't take the other teams too lightly and put out a lineup that falls short in an earlier match.

I think Greenhill will beat Garland 3-2. They will split the singles and win two out of the three doubles.

  2. Greenhill will win QT. I actually think BH has a chance to upset GH if they can get a line of doubles. The problem for BH and GTC is that neither is good enough to run the table. They may upset GH but could lose to the other top contender. GH is by far the best in this flight and is the only team that could rebound from a loss and still win QT.

  3. What a vagina - March 04 Garland's O'Bannon was a super champ. In 2009 he was a self rate at 3.5.
"O'Bannon, Trent - Sherman, TX - Super Champs: B16s" Need to find out when his status changed.

Didnt Sisk tell us he was never a super? Someone caught his lie and then Sisk said something like big deal he was a super at 14. Does Sisk ever tell the truth about anything. I bet he tells everyone he weighs 200 pounds.

What a class act. Why does he not get banned? This Trent guy must be a real stand up guy too.

  4. Trent has ATP points too! I stood corrected on my post 3 weeks ago, and still stand corrected. Atually weighed 120# standing on a scale in a swimming pool.

    ReplyDelete
  5. Trent couldn't have won at 3.5 vs Puerto Rico----he'd be perfect at 3.0 w/ Bender at Nationals

    ReplyDelete
  6. Is Hill still the wind beneath your wings Klameci??

    ReplyDelete
  7. You are right, I shouldn't have done that even since they filed on me last year. Instead, hold hands and sing Kumbyah! As far as the domestic front, March was 20 years of marriage, 24 years of romance, and still on our honeymoon! Thanks for the elementary comments though!

    ReplyDelete
  8. Lol...."Sisk not stopping until he gets them dqed" might have taken less time to find that public information than for his computer to warm up! It's really not that hard, please don't make it sound like a PI was needed.

  9. if gh wins the qt can they be factor at DCC?

  11. 4.0 & 4.5 draws are out. 3 wild cards in each but no city listed yet. Either they haven't been picked yet or they're keeping it a secret til playoffs are over so some cities don't lose on purpose trying to get in an easier flight.

    ReplyDelete
  12. The fact alone that a superchamp self rated at 3.5 tells you what kind of people you are dealing with. Trent is another piece of garbage but guarantee it was Sisk who talked him into it and payed his way. Yet 3 weeks ago, he somehow forgot that until he got his fat ass called out on it. Now he just likes to down play it with smart ass comments like he has atp points also. White trash.

You want another example of Sisk playing games; Flora still lives in Florida yet has a Dallas usta regitration. He already has a guy in Houston outside the 50 mile rule, so how do you explain Flora? It's rules like that that he bends like the benches that his fat ass warms, and a prime example of the usta/dta letting him get away with it. And look further, and you'll find others that live in Tyler, Sherman, Dennison, etc. on his roster, all outside the 50 mile rule, but they claim to live at home with their parents or there's no tennis in the area. Yeah right.

You better make your run this last time Sisk cause Big Brother is watching.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Flora is a 4.5 now where he should have been 2 years ago when he played on Sisk's team. But that's a good point, somebody should go look up his address in Garland and it's either Sisk's double-wide, some made up address, or something clever like that.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Congrats Sisk on your many years of marital bliss. From what I've heard you are a pretty good dude once people get to know you. But even if you are a jerk, I am offended that the size of your penis has become a subject of discussion on this blog. Good luck to you and all of your young super champs in the postseason.

    ReplyDelete
  15. this is an amazing blog! I've checked all the claims and they are so true. Wow! I am floored! I can't believe it all. Sisk, even if you get your win and get to the nationals, do you still a clear conscious that you got there by fair rules! it is rhetoric, no need to answer.
Thank you, all the anons, for such information not only on Sisk but also on other scum in Dallas. Sisk=Somabut=Arcaria=how many more??? What a pieces of shit!

    ReplyDelete
  16. This blog does serve a good purpose. You have to sift through the vile comments but there is a lot of truth here. I'll at least give Somabut credit for attempting to hide his illegal activities (there is a lot to be said about just being silent).

    ReplyDelete
  17. Where are the 4.0/4.5 draws? Can you post them here?

    ReplyDelete
  18. I don't see the draws posted on the Texas Section website. Where did you find them?

    ReplyDelete
  19. Big brother has iq better than 180. Flora/ Moreman aren't even on the same roster dummy, 50 mile rule applies to each team not to all 100 of his players. I'm sure Sisk appreciates you looking though. Flora has 3 houses and travels a lot, he's just trying to get the most out of life. Sherman/Denison has no Usta market up there and I heard Sisk is bringing 12 players down in the fall and 3 players from Durant, Oklahoma. I think it is great if he pulls that off! Is that not in the rules??

    ReplyDelete
  20. Sectional draws areN't online yet but have been sent to local coordinators who should have sent to captains.

4.0: flight 1: Corpus, Houston, Wild Card, San Angelo, Valley

Flight 2: Wild Card, Waco, San Antonio, Ft. Worth, Qualifier

Flight 3: NoHo, Midland, Austin, NE Texas, Wild Card

Flight 4: Amarillo, SE Texas, Wild Card, Lubbock, Dallas

4.5: Flight 1: Austin, NE Texas, Wild Card, Ft. Worth

Flight 2: Houston, Lubbock, Waco, Wild Card

Flight 3: Dallas, Wild Card, Abilene, SE Texas

Flight 4: Amarillo, NoHo, Valley, San Antonio

    ReplyDelete
  21. Looks like Dallas got a sweetheart draw in 4.5. They can rest their top 8 until Sunday.

Dallas 4.0 got a decent draw as well.

Looks like Dallas will close out July in style.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Who are the top 4.0 teams across Texas this year?

    ReplyDelete
  23. Somabut, Somabut, and Somabut he has a rich history of dominating 4.0

    ReplyDelete
  24. There's not much competition across the state. Dallas has some of the better local competition and Somabut's guys are clearly the top of Dallas. It won't be a cake walk but both Dallas teams will be in contention for the whole thing.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Freeman's Houston team will give everyone in Dallas everything they want. Dallas talent is spread out over too many teams. HP/GTC/GH/Lakes/JCC have good players but not enough depth on any of them.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Thanks for posting the Sectional flights. I don't know why the Texas Section or DTA does not post that info on their websites. It only takes 5 min and not everyone is a captain.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Actually Dallas 4.0 is going to have a heck of a time getting past lubbock. They are returning 7 players from their 08 national run and have added lance Coleman a 4.5 drop down.

    ReplyDelete
  28. So let me get this straight, Sisk found out about the LTF super champs, who played super champs when they were 16. He turns them in or turns over what he found to anotheer captain to turn them in. Yet the whole time Sisk has a kid who played super champs 16 and is within the 5 years as well? What a complete hypocritical cheater! The guy lies to us all stating he played when he was 14, but it was actually 16 and he then tries to joke about it? How can you joke about it Sisk wheb you turned another captain in for having the same type of player on his roster. Dallas tennis would be so better off without you.

Sisk is the biggest cheater in Dallas tennis and I hope you all can see it. I hope a captain files a grievance against Sisk and Obannon.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Sisk is a piece of work, theres no question about that. Last year he tried to rig the 3.5 DCC so that his team & Ratcliffs team could advance to Sectionals at the expense of LTF. Ratcliffe & Kaiser know the details. How can a guy get away with crap like that?

    ReplyDelete
  30. O'bannon must have forgotten he was a superchamp just like Richie and Reynolds. You better get O'bannon dqed before he beats everyone at dcc.His whole roster is full of 4.5+ superstars. How many more Superchamps does he have? You better get them before July 16th!

    ReplyDelete
  31. yeah, dont forget about Somabut who has NAthan Quist... that guy is not even 4.5 but an open player... what a scum!

    ReplyDelete
  32. Poor lifetime......Sisk/Ratcliff did advance so his plan did work? All players on both sides complied! Great work cpt Sisk!

    ReplyDelete
  33. O'bannon played 16's supers when he was 14/15 years old.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Sisk knew Obannon was a Superchamp just like Arcaria knew Ritchie-Reynolds were Superchamps.

    ReplyDelete
  35. There is something creepy about middle-aged men luring teenage boys and guys in their early twenties to play for their USTA teams on the off chance that the teenyboppers can help fulfill a tennis (or some other kind) of fantasy that the aging/pot-bellied captains could never achieve on their own.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Exactly right 11:10 anon! They couldn't achieve it themselves so they are recruiting players to get it done!

    ReplyDelete
  37. Suggested new rule: Captains should be required to put themselves in the line-up at least 50% of time in the local league, DCC and Sectionals. That would be one automatic loss for Sisks team.

    ReplyDelete
  38. He'd go for that only if eveyone signed a protest to get him back to 3.5 or 3.0! Lol GTC guy :o)because Sisk will tell you himself, he is horrible and needs to be at 3.0 w/ O'bannon on Bender's National team. Sisk may lose at 3.0, but will have fun at that level.

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  40. Sisk and Ratcliffe teams advanced to sectionals because Lifetime chocked against Greenhill in the final match last season. If Lifetime had Won one of those 2 would have been eliminated.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Got it!!! No consipracy???

    ReplyDelete
  42. It seems that Bob Somabut's image as a stand-up, relatively honorable USTA captain has been tarnished over the last several months.

First, there was the Weymer scandal of last year, and now it appears he has another player on this year's roster whose resume is questionable.

In the past, Somabut let Bender do most of the heavy lifting when it came to sifting through the mixed bag of nonrated players. Bender would recruit the best of the motley bunch for his 3.0 or 3.5 teams, and then would teach them the art of score-management until they were ready to join Somabut's crew.

Apparently, Somabut decided the process was too slow and has joined the ranks of the other ethically-challenged captains. You only have so many years as an elite captain, but it's a shame that a guy who many people used to look up to has jumped into the crowded sewer where the rest of the tennis underbelly resides.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Most captains and teams want to win Nationals. If Bob came in 3rd in the Country, should he recruit above or below the level of his last year's team? Why do you have to bash captains because they are successful? Are you not strong enough for their team? None of their players bash them! I guess it's easier for you to bash them, than to fix your game.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Please guy's, why aren't you giving all the captains with losing records high praises and posting them by name and telling us how ethical and great they are??? Please give them their due!!!!! Come on guy's!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  45. Somabut has heard it all before and has thick skin. To my knowledge he has never been provoked into personally posting in defense of his record on this blog, and for that you have to admire the guy. I'm sure any lowering of his ethics is the result of his frustration from competing against other teams at Sectionals and Nationals that are more blatant in their disregard for USTA rules.

    ReplyDelete
  46. The top captains follow all the rules. Only frustrated whiners & chronic losers complain. And thats not going to change. The top captains re-load every year and build strong, winning teams. The whiners keep crying and posting crap. That somehow makes the losers feel better.

Prediction for 2011: Branch wins 4.5; Somabut wins 4.0; Bender wins 3.5. Losers keep up a steady stream of whining.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Anon 6:11, you don't have it straight. Trent was not a super champ within the last 5 years, thus he is an eligible player.

    ReplyDelete
  48. I was left w/8 players in 12/09. If you recruit C players from other teams, I'm a bigger scumbag, and need at least 15 for a team. What is the alternative other than recruiting new players.

    ReplyDelete
  49. If Quist and O'Bannon should be DQ'd, why hasn't someone filed a grievance? I wish the grievances would go ahead and fly because if we don't file them on ourselves, some other team from another city will.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Lol...that makes $ense, no more recruiting new players(self-rates) you either steal players from other teams or default line(s) if you don't have enough players. Best thing to do is recruit and build in the Fall, lose on purpose, get your computer rating and then be THE MOST IMPROVED TEAM IN THE SPRING!! Haha everyone happy???lol

    ReplyDelete
  51. The Little Muffin will lead his team to victory against all odds. At least when he cheats, he doesn't know he's doing it.

    ReplyDelete
  52. FROM USTA WEBSITE FAQ:
    31. "Are all players in a given NTRP level equal in ability?
No …The NTRP system identifies general levels of ability, but an individual will
be rated within those levels at 50 different hundredths of a point. For example, a
3.5 player can fall anywhere between a 3.01 and a 3.50. That is the reason many
people feel they are playing sandbaggers – they are closer to the bottom of that
range while their opponents are closer to the top of the range. A TYPICAL match
result for a player, for example, with a 3.01 rating versus a 3.49 player, both of
whom are 3.5s, would be 6-0, 6-0 in favor of the higher rated player."

In order words, an individual ranking high within his NTRP range is EXPECTED to beat a player ranked at the low end of the range 6-0, 6-0. But neither are out of level.

The vast amjority of complaints about out of level players are not valid. But losers do like to complain.

    ReplyDelete
  53. I believe a grievance was filed against Quist and was denied. I could be wrong. If O'Bannon is within the 5 years of being a super champ and he aged up in May 2005, I am sure a grievance will be filed.

    ReplyDelete
  54. There is still a 60-65% chance that Quist will be DQ'd. Grievance was filed, but more info was discovered on the guy that played for a team that went to the national championships in 1994 in College tennis (although not DQ able on that alone because that division is not ranked by the ITA). - A technicality.

Reed has Somabut's back on this one because Somabut went to him ahead of time before season started to get the approval on it. One thing that they forgot though.

    HINT: tennis SCHOLARSHIPS

    ReplyDelete
  55. that also played and won in 5.0 tennis (where if you can even get on the court at 5.0 let along win a match, you're a pretty good player and certainly no 4.0).

  56. 4.0 QT is Friday at LBH. Where are the matches Sat and Sunday?

    ReplyDelete
  57. Who's the more solid singles player: Singh, Harvey, Angulo, or Boccara?

    ReplyDelete
  58. Lubbock 4.0 looks pretty strong. That Lance Coleman won most of his 4.5 sectional matches a few years ago when he used to live in dallas.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Men's 4.0

  60. on previous matches, bocarra over singh and harvey....angulo 4th

  62. Here are my singles and doubles rankings for the QT.

    Singles
    1.BH
    2.GH
    3.Garland
    4.CC
    5.Villages

    Doubles
    1.GH
    2.Garland
    3.BH
    4.Villages
    5.CC

    ReplyDelete
  63. When players from a top team win by a lopsided score, it proves they are out of level. When they win close, it proves they are "sandbagging big time". When a player from a top team loses it proves they were tanking.

    Have we covered all possibilities?

  64. Trent O'Bannon - TJC club tennis is going to nationals baby ! I had a great weekend in austin and didn't lose a match either ! Back to the real world now... Blah. Lol

  68. Obannon was a super champ just 5 years ago. He started this season within the 5 years and should be a 4.5. Sisk is a huge piece of crap and I don't mean just physically.

    Obannon=Cheating piece of sh;t

  70. DCC 4.0 Flights are published.
    BLUE
    HP/Somabut
    LTF/Arcaria
    JCC/Schachter
    QT 2nd place

    RED
    Garland/Sisk
    Lakes/Foy
    Brookhaven/Bartlett
    QT 1st place

Its nice that the top two teams (Garland & HP) are in different flights.

    ReplyDelete
  71. Looks like Blue is the way to go. Greenhill will win QT and end up in Red which should be a dog fight, other than the Brookhaven team that is, playing them will be like taking candy from a baby. And I've seen Sisk yank suckers out of kids mouths and run their asses over, on his way to Puerto Rico.

    ReplyDelete
  72. Where is it published?

    ReplyDelete
  73. I don't know if it has been published. It was sent to captains today.

    ReplyDelete
  74. The 2 flights look very even. Well done by the DTA. The difference maker will be what flight GH goes into and I would assume the red flight as there is no way that team will not win the QT. If that winds up being the case, it will come down to GH vs Sisk in the red flight, sorry Lakes but GH will get their revenge.

    ReplyDelete
  75. The Red Flight looks extremely tough. Lakes/GH/GTC are all pretty evenly matched. I will pick GH to come out of the red flight and HP out of the blue.

    ReplyDelete
  76. The DTA actually explained the playoff seeding in their email to captains. That's a big plus and should eliminate any complaints. Good job DTA.

But why does the DTA & John Kraemer refuse to give us any info on how they put teams into flights for the lcoal league? What is it about the flighting process that they dont want us to know?

    ReplyDelete
  77. It is confirmed now that Houston and Austin have received 4.5 wild cards to sectionals. Any word on Dallas? There are some rumors that SA got the other which would leave Dallas out this year. That would be brutal

    ReplyDelete
  78. WHY DOESNT THE TEXAS SECTION PUBLISH SECTIONAL FLIGHTS & WILDCARD INFO ON THEIR WEBSITE?

IT LOOKS LIKE SOME CITIES HAVE THE INFO & SOME DO NOT. EVERYONE SHOULD GET THE INFO AT THE SAME TIME.

    ReplyDelete
  79. Confirmed with Tosha. San Antonio, Austin, and Houston received wild card spots for 4.5!

    ReplyDelete
  80. They don't want you to know thats ometimes is just a SWAG. Hard to seed teams when they are people that are moving from one team to another to another. If you have new players how do you rank them into some sort of formula. You can't rank based on a previous captain's performance, how would that be fair? Especially if they move up or down, and its more then just 1 person on the team.

Just let them do their thing. They did it pretty well.

    ReplyDelete
  81. I don't think either flight looks easy IMO. Maybe flight A if GH goes into B, because you only have LTF and Somabut to worry about. JCC no depth, and Wild2 has no chance if they can't when QT.

Flight B will have Bartlett (top 8 are strong, but no depth in heat, so they are simply a team that is a spoiler). Lakes, See above. Same Answer. Garland who knows what he has up his sleeve. and GH.

Flight B has two teams that can win it. and 2 teams that can act as spoilers only. - Good teams with no depth.

I think that Arcaria and Somabut are loving this. Only 1 real team to worry about.

    ReplyDelete
  82. QT = Junior Tri Level

    ReplyDelete
  83. You want to win QT to avoid the blue flight. Somabut has the best team in 4.0 this year by far and who knows about Lifetime with all those self rates, I would assume they are very dangerous. In the red flight Sisk team is overratted as usual. They are overhyped every year because the Garland guys like to post and tell us how good they are. The winner of QT, most likely GH, will have no problem with Sisk.

    ReplyDelete
  84. GTC is way overrated... who do they have? They were in a weak flight. If they were in with the Lakes and Greenhill, they finished third and maybe in fourth in Flight A. The only flight they could finish first was flight C.

    ReplyDelete
  85. Greenhill may win it, but will have 2 players dq'd before the dcc

    ReplyDelete
  86. Yeah, Garland is horrible----I just want to win my line. Rich Gordon's team beat us 4-1! Guess who got the only win????? Me, in a 3rd set tie-breaker vs Rich himself 72-70. Trent

    ReplyDelete
  87. Like a thief in the night T?

    ReplyDelete
  88. Looks like the hammer has fallen on Stuart Reynolds and Chad Ritchie of Lifetime(Arcaria).

Both now show up as 4.5.

This means LFT has lost 25% of their self-rates before the DCC.

    ReplyDelete
  89. You've got to feel bad about their disqualification. They have dreamed about getting to the DCC ever since they graduated from high school

    ReplyDelete
  90. when will mid-year ratings be out?

    ReplyDelete
  91. dreaming of DCC ever since HS??? wasn't graduation just a little over a month ago?

    ReplyDelete
  92. Totally bogus if out of 3 wildcards in Texas, Dallas does not get a 2nd spot in Sectionals. 28 teams and San Antonio has 8 I believe, but they have a wildcard. Second year in a row. I would rather no cities get a 2nd spot than whatever method they are using now.

    ReplyDelete
  93. Quality over quantity?

    ReplyDelete
  94. so, no 4.0 wild card for dallas...is that official?

    ReplyDelete
  95. lot's of if's here but if gh can win the qt (they should) and get past rival Lakes (not a great match up for them) i think they beat Sisk.

    ReplyDelete
  96. All that matters is that Garland loses. Sisk will be walking around (not playing obviously) with his stupid smirk on his face. That cheat deserves to lose.

    ReplyDelete
  97. The whole idea of inviting 2nd place teams to Sectionals is a bad idea. Sectionals should be only for teams that win their city championship. Not teams that got beat at their city championship and then are given a 2nd chance at Sectionals.

2nd place teams should be invited to "Little State".

    ReplyDelete
  98. Is it time to change the formula for determining wild cards...even the NBA changed their lottery formula after deciding it was unfair. Dallas got screwed.

    ReplyDelete
  99. Is it true that Dallas only get one slot to sectionals? If true, what did we do to piss off the Texas section? Do we not have enough
teams and not bring enough money? Are we not competitive?? all we did was send a team to nationals that made it tot Sunday.

Who did get the wild cards?

    ReplyDelete
  100. This is a 4.0 thread, but some are talking about 4.5 sectionals. I don't know who got wild cards in 4.0, but in 4.5 they went to Houston, Austin, and San Antonio. So Dallas is left out in the cold unless one of the other teams backs out, which is kind of unlikely.

  101. Who got the 4.0 wildcards?

    ReplyDelete
  102. I called Tosha, but she is out until Monday. We may not know 4.0 wild cards until then.

  103. Top five Singles players (DCC/QT)?

  104. Dallas did get a wild card in 4.0. I just confirmed with Jane Gilpin.

  105. "The whole idea of inviting 2nd place teams to Sectionals is a bad idea. Sectionals should be only..."

Somabut went to Nationals last year as the Wild Card winner. So did Sisk when he went to Nationals.

    ReplyDelete
  106. 11:28 - Irrelevant. Somabut deliberately came in second to land in the easier flight when the draw was published before the city playoffs. He proved he had the stronger team when they won sectionals and finished in the top 4 in the nation.

    ReplyDelete
  107. That was the harder flight. They barely won their first match 3-2 and was almost out day 1.

    ReplyDelete
  108. Everybody suspected Wild San Antonio was the better team than San Antonio. It was proven correct.

    ReplyDelete
  109. Also Wild Houston was extremely strong that year as well.

  111. Top 5 doubles teams in DCC/QT?

    ReplyDelete
  112. 11:52 - I disagree twice. Flight 1 was a piece of cake, other than Wild SA. Team Bob went 3-2, 5-0, 5-0, 4-1, while team Eddie struggled in Flight 2, finishing 2-2. The only weak team was Wild Waco, with their impressive 1-19 record. Their one win was a default, or it would have been 0-20. And while the 3-2 win over Wild SA was close, Bob was never in danger of losing. They won all three doubles lines in straight sets, and lost one singles in three, and one in straight. It would be more accurate to say that they nearly went 4-1 than it would to say they nearly lost.

    ReplyDelete
  113. I saw that match at 7 am. They were NOT thinking it was easy. Line 1 dubs was barely a win for them in a tight tie breaker. That puts them 3 - 1 if they win everything else outright and not out of their flight. Everyone knew how hard Flight 1 was.

The captain of LTF did not take its competition very seriously, and that is why they went 2-2. Instead of 3-1.

Wild Dallas beat Lubbock probably 4-1 if it was all played out, so that would of been the easier flight for them.

  114. Hard to name the top five doubles teams in the DCC/QT. Some of the better doubles players in the tournaments have been known to get a little tight when the playoffs begin. The DCC/QT has a much greater pressure than a normal league match or even a USTA tournament. There are a number of the "studs" coming into these tournaments who have very average to poor playoff results.

  115. Top 5 singles:
    Z. Courtney - league top 25
    J. Taylor
    O. Yaremenko
    B. Whitaker
    V. Singh - league top 25
    followed by:
    J. Gonzalez - league top 60
    G. Boccara - league top 15

Taylor, Oleg, Whitaker in top 5, but the other's match record would put them much lower.

Josue Gonzalez lost to Shipley and Siby...thus out of top 50

Singh good, but lost to Vanoverschelde

Courtney lost badly to Mauldin and Goldsmith, and won by split sets to Slemon and Orta

    Top 5 DCC/QT 4.0 singles:
    J. Taylor HP
    O. Yaremenko GH
    B. Whitaker Lakes
    Sinclair Lakes
    O'Bannon Garland/S
    followed by:
    Pearson HP
    K Sims Garland/S
    D Downs GH
    Boccara BH
    M Carey LTF
    Reiman, Courtney, Singh, etc...

  116. M Carey on LTF is the best one on that list, by far. Nobody has even seen him play for real, yet...............

  117. UNBELIEVABLE!
I have been at the office all day long and forgot to check this thread. After last night's announcement I figured one of you funny/creative types would have beaten me to this punch line. Where are the comparisons of Sisk to Pat Riley and of Mr. O'bannon to the great Lebron?

You guys are pathetic not to have come up with that one yet.

    ReplyDelete
  118. Has anyone googled obannon? Very interesting.

    ReplyDelete
  119. O'Bannon seems like a typical Me Generation guy. Doesn't look like a super champ on his You Tube videos. Maybe an upper level 4.0.

    ReplyDelete
  120. I don't see the Garland guys on here this year talking up how great they are. That's because they don't have the goods this year. Watch the lines Big John rolls out and you won't be impressed. They don't make it out of their flight and could finish third in it.

    ReplyDelete
  121. the matches to watch are somabut/arcaria and lakes/greenhill. it should all be decided there.

    ReplyDelete
  122. i agree...the winner of the lakes/greenhill rematch will take that flight

    ReplyDelete
  123. I googled O'Bannon and he is a piece of work.

I looked at those YouTube videos of O'Bannon and that first dude sucked. The opponent looked like a pretty average LoneStar player.

In the second one where he was jumping rope and running lines, he looked really gay.

In the third one he looked alright but nothing to worry about. He looked like he was a solid 4.0 in that one but who can tell when he running next to cones. If he is training for some kind of tennis career, he might should try a new field.

His MySpace page should be an embarassment. "I am ashamed to be from Sherman, TX." He appears to be 22 so if he was a Super in the 14s, he would be legitimate. Regardless, he is a piece of work and GTC is a natural place for him.

  125. Greenhill 2-0
    Garland 2-0
    Village 2-1
    Canyon Creek 0-2
    Brookhaven 0-3

No big surprises. Garland had to come back from 1-2 down to Brookhaven to stay undefeated.

Unless a captain makes a huge lineup mistake in the morning matches it should come down to the 3:00 match tomorrow between Greenhill and Garland.

Garland has the tougher match in the morning vs. the Village, but should come out ok. Greenhill plays Canyon Creek.

Greenhill is playing well and Garland will have to step up to beat them in the afternoon match. To win Garland will need to at least split the singles and have wins by the Odulio brothers and Sierp/Kingsley in doubles.

    ReplyDelete
  126. Since 2 teams advance to the DCC it looks like both Greenhill and Garland will playing in the DCC. Their match may be meaningless.

    ReplyDelete
  127. Interesting... Not sure about his tennis record but his criminal one certainly earns him the "trailer trash" title! What else is to expect to come from the Garland team? All are a bunch of cheaters and scum. He was right in his post. His name officially (in the DL) is spelled without '...
