3.5 Final Weekend

Flight A has our MOW as CC/Jolly takes on High Point which should be a good match. I like High Point to win this one but not sure they can sweep it and I think they must because Lifetime has an easier opponent and could win 5-0.

I think someone mentioned BH is not safe and they were right if they are beaten 4-1 or better by LBH they could lose their spot but I don't see that happening.

Flight B
The only thing to watch is if HP/Entrenkin can score an upset on GH and help Oak Creek to get in the playoffs. I am not sure it can happen but it should be a close match. Sorry Oak Creek I just don't see it happening.

Flight C
Canyon Creek should sew up the 2nd spot in this flight as they take on LBH. Oakridge was the early season fav for the whole league and now much like the Dallas Cowboys their season looks like it might just be over. Same goes for Gleneagles who takes on Samuel Grand this Saturday. I will be curious to see how this SG team stacks up come playoff time. I am not sure I see them as a fav quite yet but who knows.

  1. Brookhaven should beat LBH quite easily. The only win I predict is at singles, with Das taking out whomever he plays at BH. BH has nobody that can beat him.

    ReplyDelete
  2. Das got beat pretty bad last week. I am curious as to if that was legitimate.

I predict CC will beat HP. HP just does not seem to be able to put their top 8 out on any given week.

    ReplyDelete
  3. If Das got beat last week "pretty bad" then obviously it wasnt legitimate!

    ReplyDelete
  4. Alan Gerber beat him 6-4, 6-2. Alan is a good player but that one is a mystery.

    ReplyDelete
  5. Who the hell is Das? He beat one person I never heard of and then lost to Alan Gerber. How does anyone know how good he is?

    ReplyDelete
  6. Obviously the three posters that wonderi if it was legitimate or a mystery know something about Das? Speak up boys.

    ReplyDelete
  7. Debashis Das from LBH is a fantastic player. He beat Maurice Huynh (a dam good player) 6-0, 6-2.

Huynh is definitley better than Alan Gerber.

LBH wants to save their new ringer for the spring, so they got to Das and had him tank a match to Gerber. NO WAY THAT COULD BE LEGIT.

So LBH has their 4.0 ringer safe for 3.5 next year. The fall league sucks doesnt it?

    ReplyDelete
  8. Sorry folkes, that was no tanked matched. Alan beat him outright. You're telling me Das plays one weekend and whips up on someone, and then the next weekend decides to "tank" the match. I don't think so. I think he just got beat by a better player.

    ReplyDelete
  9. Who is Maurice Huynh an dwhat has he done to convince anyone that he is any good?

    ReplyDelete
  10. According to some of the geniuses on this blog, Mitterer was top 5 in 3.5 singles, and he got beat solidly by Gerber too. All these guys tanking matches, I tell you.....

    ReplyDelete
  11. What good is a single ringer going to do for LBH anyway? They suck so bad they'll lose 1-4 or 2-3 week in and week out in the Spring. Sounds like a waste of a ringer to me.

    ReplyDelete
  12. To the 8:39 a.m. poster;

I will put money on the Gerber vs. Huynh match. Lets set it up and you can bring your wallet.

    ReplyDelete
  13. I just read this thread and find it interesting that somebody thinks that even if Das beats Gerber and wins next week, he will get bumped to 4.0 after only three matches on record? Sounds like he got his ass handed to him to me.

    ReplyDelete
  14. What are you people talking about, both Das, and Gerber are average 3.5 singles players. Lets cut all the mindless drivel and get on to something of some importance if in fact there is anything.

    ReplyDelete
  15. If you are posting in this corner, I'm assuming you are a 3.5. I'll bet that both Das and Gerber would kick your ass. Would you like to step up to the challenge Mr. Big mouth? If you want to talk about something more important, why don't you bring it up, rather than make mindless comments.

    ReplyDelete
  16. I agree that CC will beat HP. Rietzer can beat any of the HP singles guys, even Hunyh, and CC's top 2 doubles lines can beat HP's, especially since HP can't get the same guys out 2 weeks in a row.

    ReplyDelete
  17. If the top 2 in each flight finished that way, how does it get decided which teams get matched up for the playoffs?

    ReplyDelete
  18. Sounds to me like someone is trying to justify some wins along the way by "lashing out" at anyone who dares to question some results. You know what they say about the dog who barks the loudest...

    ReplyDelete
  19. Breaking news:
Brookhaven player Mark Gordon Cline Dq'd, reversing the outcome of the Brookhaven/LTF match and basically ensuring LTF makes the playoffs. Brookhaven is now needing HP to win to have a chance...

    ReplyDelete
  20. Wow... how does he get canned and Harvey survives? Harvey is still listed as a self rate.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Gerber = good 3.5 player
    DAS = outstanding 3.5 player/solid 4.0

Gerber over DAS = Obvious tank job

    ReplyDelete
  22. That is crazy! How does someone with only 4 games on record get DQed? Someone must have ratted on his past.....

    ReplyDelete
  23. The DQ is very confusing. I can see that Mark is self rated and thus cause a red flag on a computer. I guess if you bagel anyone, then you are a 4.0. I have played Marc socially, years ago and thought he was an ok 3.5. Has his game improved that much? I wonder how Don Harvey can be updefeated in the spring and the fall and still be a 3.5. Makes me wonder what is going on with the USTA or TTA. I also think Brookhaven was one of the stronger teams that could be a problem for some teams in the playoffs.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Mike Mitterer is definitely better than Mark Cline. Yet Cline is DQed. WTF?

    Alan Gerber,
Please join me in the real world for a sec. BOTH Mitterer and DAS tanked to you in order to manage their NTRP rating. Maybe some day you will be able to beat one of those guys for real.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Das is not a 3.5 and I agree that he is a very solid 4.0 or even higher. Frankly, he should be embarrased to self rate at 3.5 and if he did tank against Gerber, then he deserves the loss for being a cheat. If he plays 3.5 next season, it won't take long before he is DQed as well.

    ReplyDelete
  26. I dont know John Kraemer but he seems to be a nice guy.

But what's with the Brookhaven 3.5 ringers _ Mitterer and Cline? I hope John Kraemer is not following in the path of John Sisk.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Mr. 6:03 am poster.

Tell me who you are and I will gladly join you in the real world.

I have become friends with Mitterer as we surprisingly had many things in common and he is a very nice guy. I happened to play very well against him that day and simply beat him, no tanking involved. I'm quite sure he will tell you the same thing. Brookhaven was in first place when we played them, do you really think they would be tanking a match and risking it, don't think so.

As far as Das is concerned, I am the first to admit that the guy has some serious game. I doubt he is a 3.5. But having said that, I don't think he tanked, probably just had a bad day. The guy is taking 5 hour energy drinks before the match and you could tell he was seriously psst that he lost. But that's the way it goes sometimes. If he tanked, he is a better actor than tennis player.

  28. Wow!! That is amazing. I played against Cline in doubles and while we lost, I felt it was more the lack of my partner & I playing to our level, not Cline being unbeatable. He is a little quirky when he serves and if you have played him you know what I am talking about. He must have past experience (college play) that would prevent him from self ranking as a 3.5. Personally, I don't think he played like a 4.0 but you never know, he could have been holding back. I will call one of my buddies on their team and see what the true story is. In any case, we will gladly take the lucky break.

In defense of Gerber - none of those guys "tanked" their matches. He clearly beat Mitterer. As for Dabash, he was running late to the match and got sidetracked by the MILF walking through the pool area at Lifetime. You know how those harmones can throw off these young kids.

A player I think that is solid that no one speaks of is HP's Sutherland. He has a great game and mixes it up well.

Sisk - if you are checking these posts -- I don't have your # or email. I will try to get it from Jane Gilpen and buzz you later.

  29. Ltf kaiser,
While I can respect you defending a teammate, in all due respect anyone who has seen you play (I have played against you this season) you lose all credibility because of your lack of "game". You would be an average 3.0, when we played you your partner carried your uncoordinated ass, and that was the only way we lost. As far as Sutherland goes he is not bad but also not in the top 15 singles players in the fall 3.5 league.

    ReplyDelete
  30. 7:38 AM poster -

I never have claimed to have any "game" or be a ringer. I know I am an unorthodoxed player and can be a dork on the court. It's hard to be graceful at 6'4' with size 14 feet. Sorry. Obviously you think you must be some pristine player trashing me the way you did. I was only supporting the notion that perhaps Cline's DQ was not appropriate.

As for my partner carrying me, there was only one match I could truthfully say that was the case, and that was against High Point. But I am doubtful that is the match you are referring to because those two players would doubtfully mouth off like you have. If you are so great, why aren't you in the top 15 singles list? If you played me, that means you are playing line 2 or 3 doubles.

    ReplyDelete
  31. If Kaiser is an average 3.0 and you lost against him, you can't be too good either. Who cares how good his partner was. At least talk a little trash after a win, not a loss against a 3.0 you moron.

    ReplyDelete
  32. I'd play with Kaiser vs anon in some dubs! Maybe you'd get beat by 2 3.0's playing way out of level at3.5!
    Sisk

    ReplyDelete
  33. So...how do you guys see the 3.5 tournament shaking out? Noone to this day still has any solid info on SG, and from all I've read, it seems the Westlake team will walk away with the #1 prize, whatever that is (i.e. trophy, ribbon, etc...)

I did notice that SG only beat LBH 3-2, and someone on here said LBH wasn't very strong (not those words, but you know what I mean)... so does that mean SG has been quite lucky up until this point and their luck has run out?

There is no home court advantage at Brookhaven, and I'll assume no worries about gunshots either! LOL!

    ReplyDelete
  34. Sisk,
Why the lovefest with you and Kaiser now? Liftetime was one of the main bitchers and complainers when Garland was kicking everyones ass, now you guys want to "play doubles together"? Is that code for wanting to do something else together? Not to mention if you two played together not sure you would win a decent 2.5 match.

    ReplyDelete
  35. I think that was a different Lifetime team.

    ReplyDelete
  36. To 6:51 AM Poster

Different Lifetime team. No love fest, just an appreciation for those who love the game. It is amazing to see how easy it is to come under Anon and start bashing players. State who you are and the big man and skinny man will take you on, unless you are afraid to be beat by two 2.5s.

    ReplyDelete
  37. How come its not hard for "athletes" like M. Jordan, K. Bryant, etc. to look to look "graceful" on their courts? They are 6'4' or taller and have size 14 feet. Sounds like an excuse for sucking at tennis.

    Phil Jackson

    ReplyDelete
  38. It's a proportionate ration between you pecker and your feet. Small pecker + large feet = uncoordinated wanna be athlete. That must be the reason why the NBA players father so many illegitimate children.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Mr. Phil Jackson - how come you don't even have a USTA record? Nor can I find a M. Jordan or K. Bryant playing on any of the 3.5 rosters this Fall. You're slamming someone you don't know and you don't even play yourself? pathetic.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Comparing 3.5 tennis players to pro-basketball player?? dillusional

    ReplyDelete
  41. Comparing 3.5 tennis to any professional athlete is a bit absurd. Most 3.5 players are no more graceful than the Nathan's Hotdog Eating contestants.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Greg,
Too funny!!Still waiting on fun dubs! Anybody want to play Harvey tomorrow at 3:00 gtc?
    Sisk

    ReplyDelete
  43. John, I am up for the doubles most any time.

I really said that wrong up above. I meant to say the closest a 3.5 is to a professional athlete is the Nathan's Hot Dog eating competitiors.

  44. Wiley, what the heck happened to you guys today? 5 & 0 sweep, what is HP up to? The word is out on you guys gearing up/positioning for spring. We know HP are the experts on that.

Bender, Jamison, and Sisk were spotted at breakfast this morning. What gives?

    ReplyDelete
  45. Greg,
We're at gtc tomorrow 1pm if you can make it!!!!!
    John

    ReplyDelete
  46. I thought I saw Wilhelm Kaiser at that breakfast also. He was sitting next to Sisk and it looked like they were playing footsie under the table.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Must have been another German you saw. Looks like they were taking care of business and handing out bagels to the Village.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Brookhaven loses to LB Houston?? Both Mitterer and Kuhn lose?? High Point gets beat by CC -- with Wiley and Watanabe losing to their line 3 players stumped on 1 ??? What gives???

Was there some tanking going on this weekend we should know about?? Maybe Bender had some influence at this breakfast of Champions. I heard he has a couple of 4.5s tagged for next season's 3.0 league.

    ReplyDelete
  49. How can you call K. Stone and Halverson line 3 for CC? K. Stone had an 8-1 record with 4 of those wins in 4.0, and Halverson had a 4-0 record. Looks more like CC's line 2 yesterday, Jolly & Plummer, were the true line 3 for them.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Stone and Halverson played line 1

    ReplyDelete
  51. First, those guys we played were pretty good. I will not take anything from them; they are pretty darn good players. As someone said, one was undefeated and the other only had one loss and it was in 4.0. If they are truly line 3, then Westlake will have their hands full.

Second, in my first service game (second game of the match), I pulled a stomach muscle and it was pretty painful. At change over, I took a painkiller for the pain and it kicked in about the beginning ofthe second set. Tony and I played extremely well in the second and Kent and Kevin outtoughed us in the third set. When I told Tony my stomach hurt really bad, he suggested we default and it was not worth getting hurt. As I said to him, if we do that we will be the all over the blog about tanking. If you think we tanked, ask our opponents and I am sure they will tell you we played hard the entire match and the painkiller story is true.

Third, I wasn't even scheduled to play (oneof my kids had a borthday party that I had to get delayed so we could get 8 players out) because my groin tear is still aggravated; I can play but I am still a long way from being mobile. Yet, we were struggling to get 8 players out and that is why Pat and I played. Pat is as beat up as I am.

If that is tanking, so be it.

John, I would have loved to get out there today at 1:00 but I just saw this and I am going to give the body a few weeks. I am packing the rackets up for the winter or until I can play with no pain.

    ReplyDelete
  52. To 4:48, we lost 3-2; that was the other HP team that got beat 5-0. Read my other comment about having toruble getting players out. Also, give CC credit, they are a good team.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Wiley, I will give you the benefit of the doubt on this but I know you are better than your record.

    ReplyDelete
  54. anon 1:42, thanks for giving me your support. I will be counting on it come spring.

Send me an e-mail (I am not hard to find) and please tell me your issue with me.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Wiley, you seem like a nice guy and all, but lets stop with the excuses. First of all, how can you pull a stomach muscle, when that would be non existant on your body? The closest your stomach has ever been to a muscle is the one you yank on a regular basis, and word is you need the little blue ones to make that work. Perhaps that's where the groin tear came from. What are you going to tell us next, that you have a swollen red snapper?

    ReplyDelete
  56. ************NEWS FLASH************

Wiley is out for the entire '09 season with a swollen red snapper.
