Fall Flight Play Wrap Up

5.0 only had one flight but it finished up with a clear winner in Lakes/Jannasch at 9-0 and two teams coming in at 7-2, Prestonwood/Perkison then JCC/Reiman.

4.5 Flight A was the tightest race I've seen in a long time.  With the final match now posted, Greenhill/Rossouw and Lakes/Way finished at an identical 9-1, 36-14.  For the curious, Greenhill lost two less sets but as you will recall the USTA changed the tie breakers a couple of years ago and now head to head comes after lines.  So its Greenhill as the flight play champion on HTH.  That was a 3-2 win the first match of the season.  Kudos to Canyon Creek for what I thought was a somewhat surprising third place finish.

4.5 Flight B also shows two 9-1 teams but Samuell Grand/Hanna squeezed into first place on a two line lead over TBar/McColpin.  Third place was also a nail biter with Brookhaven/Harllee and JCC/Reiman both coming in at 9-3 but Brookhaven ahead on a commanding line lead.

4.0 flight A has Garland/Sisk as the only undefeated team, Brookhaven/Bartlett in second and Canyon Creek/Nolan just getting nudged to third by three lines.

4.0 flight B has Greenhill/Davalos the only undefeated team followed by McKinney/Kanchi in second and a distant McKinney/Jacobsen in third.

4.0 flight C has Oak Creek/Iyer as the only undefeated (I’m sensing a pattern here) followed by two loss Huffhines/Jayaram then third place Tbar/Snow.
I'll have my playoff predictions out after the holiday.

Also, congratulations to Team Sisk/Kanchi on winning tri-level this weekend.  They went an impressive 4-0, 12-0 for the event.  Can't say who finished second because one match isn't posted yet but I hear Team Kingsley edged out Team Myers.

  1. And while I'm sure none of you care about this, year end ratings should be out next week.

    1. Lot of 4.5s that rarely lost that are likely to be moved up to being mediocre 5.0s

  2. Are we beginning to see a changing of the guard at 4.5, or is this a symptom of the fall's apathy and tanking?

  3. I am not sure you can say it is a changing of the guard, but more so a couple of teams arising to give the usual winners a good challenge.

    1. Some of the better spring teams need to give other guys some playing time to keep them on the roster. So the teams may not win as much in the spring but they can spread the matches out.

  4. Having an extra line of doubles gives teams more of a shot and some non interested parties

  5. I think there's better talent moving to the city to counter these idiotic 200 person rosters. I'll never understand why the Hell you'd choose to pay money to never play... Pretty sad.

    1. My question is why play for the guy that puts 4, 200 man rosters together each year in FW and Dallas, 18 and over or 40 and over. Funny thing is he still can't win..

  6. And if you played Dallas tri level and lost, you can play ft worth. Try to get in, if you want another shot. The DTA says you can't, but the TTA says you can. Go figure.

  7. Fort Worth Tri rosters trickling in. Seems evenly balanced at this point.

    1. Looks like Kanchi has the team to beat in FW too

    2. How can the Kingsley losers go and play FW if they were given a wildcard? How does that work?

  8. If you are a loser in Dallas go where the competition is weaker and try to win there. Let's give everyone a shot! If you can't win ft worth Corpus Christi is next

  9. What is pretty funny is the Sisk/Kanchi Dallas trilevel roster than won last week would win the spring 4.5 if they all played together ... Lmao

  10. Dallas won't be getting the trip-level wild card if there is one. San Antonio has nine teams in their event so they should get the wild card. Vince should have played out of FW.

  11. Pretty sure anyone on that Sisk/Kanchi roster have already booked their tickets to Nats already.

    1. Yeah, they are using the refunds they got for the tickets they booked to 4.0 Nationals

  12. Looks like Vince has moved most of his tri-level team to Fort Worth so they can try again

  13. Is Vince going to sign up and lead the charge to 2nd place?

  14. Where do u see that? Queensley is not a player or a captain. Those guys bolted on their own. They figured they weren't good enough to win Dallas so head to cowtown. FW is becoming a league of lucky losers. Somehow Sisk and raja assembled the best players in Dallas to play for them and if that team stays together they will be winning trilevel for years. Amazing.

    1. Last years tri level team that won played out of Fort Worth.

  15. Most Everyone on that team w the exception of Tuttle, pollard and Clark are out of level. I really think Sisk and raja might get their second trilevel title in a row. Clear the buffet boys! This train is starting to roll! Raja learning from Sisk and soon to be a force in Dallas tennis.

    1. Raja got a tri level title last year? Seems the last poster must be mistaken. Get your facts in order before you post please.

    2. He won the 4-3.5-3 sectionals.

If it's not nationals, it's not a title.

    3. San Antonio won the 4.0,3.5,3.0 last year. Dallas Kanchi came in 2nd. Pretty sad.

    4. Who is this Kanchi guy and why should we care?

      Delete
    5. He is a guy who thinks he owns Dallas tennis league.

      Delete
    6. He apparently is going for his second tri level title.

    7. What a joke. Kanchi won one fall league last year. That was it. He's never won anything else. Hasn't even been to tri-level nationals before. Sure hasn't won one.

      Delete
  16. More importantly, Rossouw looks poised for a fall crown. Maybe he and Kanchi should start working on teams. They own the fall.

    1. Wonder why Sisk never puts summer teams together to win? Why just concentrate on combo and tri level.

    2. Because if he got his go to guy Kelley and then he recruited around him they would easily win the league and everyone gets bumped. Hate on Kelley and bash him and say he is a jerk but people will play with him bec they know most likely a national trip is on the way. Can you seriously get excited about playing w roussouw and Queensley? AND QUIT HATING ON RAJA PEOPLE, he is a good guy!

  17. Trilevel by far the best league to play. If you have never been to Indian Wells during the pro tournament you must go playing or not. Heck Kelley got to hit with Nadia Petrova when he won it the first time then he and Jean Jacque Cousteau Mbede got to meet Del Potro, Sharapova and Nadal in the tunnel between the finals. When Kelley won his second title he was able to kick the soccer ball around w Pliskova. He is one lucky dude... HA!

  18. Patrick Teterud will have more trilevel titles than Kelley when it is all said and done! That guy is something special. However if Kelley gets his third title (at 51 years old is amazing in itself) then TET would need 4....... That will be tough but he will try!!! TET IS THE NEW FACE OF TEXAS TENNIS DOMINANCE!

  19. Yes Tri-level best Nationals Period.

  23. This years tri is better than last year. 4.5's are better. Replaced Brett with Kyle. The 4.0's are about the same. Josh is as good as Pharris. The 3.5's are close. It should be another trip to Cali.

And combo and tri is better because it's 2 or 3 weekends not a 10 week beating.

    1. If Kelly steps on the court in 4.5 he is a liability. No way you can compare Josh to Scott. Good try though. We all know that 3.5 is a lock line.

      Delete
    2. Kyle improves the 4.5 line from last year a lot. Rajiv and Sean on the 3.5 line are similar to last year. The 4.0s are not nearly as good as Faris and Nguyen.

    3. Finally a post that is spot on.

    4. Kelly is a liability? That is new.

    5. Posting hate is one thing, posting idiotic comments another. Other than Kyle Davidson, Kelly is the best 4.5 player in Dallas, has the skins on the wall to prove it. Don't let your negative view of him get in the way of objectivity. He is a winner and attracts winners.

    7. Kelly is a decent 5.0 that continually tanks to 4.5
Neat what he has accomplished, but there are plenty of 5.0's that could do the same.

Those guys have a life though...

    8. Looks like Kelly is tanking to 4.0. Check out his Fort Worth fall league results. Good job Captain Rigney.

    9. wow such little man syndrome by Rigney, guess he forgot how to play tennis after the spring and combo seasons.
      No wonder Manual bumps occur.

    10. Kelly is the best player in Dallas?? You've got to be kidding me. If you don't count tri level or mixed, Kelly is a low end 4.5 at best. I could name at least 10 guys that would easily beat him.
