  1. Looks like Jason Kern had the best percentage with 65 in the 4.0 division.

  2. I did have the best percentage but lost by 2 points in 4.0. If Brouer could have won one more round I would have won. I mean can't you at least make the round of 16?! "You're killing me Smalls". Did you just have to get home early to shine your dome? I mean you could have been saving your energy for dubs but you lost there too. Maybe I'll stop by trilevel to heckle you as well. Lots of ammunition. Is there anything better than giving Brouer a hard time?
In 4.5 I had the same percentage (83) but lost by 2 points as well. If I would have picked myself to go one more round I would have won?! I embarrassed by my performance but at least I beat Noel in both and I finally found something that I could take Vik at. I'm holding out hope that there was an error in the bracket like the 4.5 doubles final but I doubt I will get any help.

  3. It takes more skill to pick the early rounds correctly.

I guess Wescoup/Huffman just had to get warmed up. Both had to go 3 sets in the early rounds. So much for the defending champion Montgomery. Kern would have won the whole thing if it was August. He trains for the Grand Slams (sectionals).

Who's headlining the "Cotton Bowl Rap Up"? Will 50 Cent be there? Or Tupac?

    ReplyDelete
  4. Khang H. Khieu won the 4.0 draw.
    He's from Aurora IL?

Has he moved here or just visiting for the holidays?

He won the tournament in pretty short order.

Beat Somebutt, I have to believe if he's a Texan now Bob was trying to recruit that.

    ReplyDelete
  5. He graduated H.S. in Dallas. Moved to IL about 15 yrs. ago. He was in town visiting on Xmas vacation.

    ReplyDelete
  6. Kenneth Newman gets bumped back frm 4.0 to 3.5 & Larry R stays 3.5, yet both beat soundly in CB by Zach Stein a 3.5 that did not get bumped up & back down & not seeded in the tournament.

    ReplyDelete
  7. Which means that Stein (who has been rated a 4.0 in the past) is currently playing at a level much closer to 4.0 than 3.5 and that Retizer, Newman, Bacon, Getz, Anderson and the rest are probably where they belong at 3.5 (although Bacon was bumped to 4.0 and is going to have to figure out how to hit ground strokes with more consistency)

    ReplyDelete
  8. Bacon's record is actually pretty shitty,
I am not sure why he was bumped,

As far a Zach is concerned,
Everyone knows he is a good solid steady player,
It's easier to stay under the radar when you play more doubles than singles.

    ReplyDelete
  9. 3.5 = BOOOOOOOOORRRRRRRRRRRRRIIIIIIIIIIIIIINNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG...........ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

  10. For the Sake of pissing people off...

Nick Walton beat Jamie Luangaphay in the 3.0 final,
    Luangaphay beat the #1 seed 6-2, 6-1!

    If these 2 don't belong in 3.5 I don't know who does!

    BTW
Luangaphay is one of Bender's guys

    ReplyDelete
  11. 3.0 & 3.5 talk... We all know that 2.5 is where the real tennis is played. Can we get some 2.5 talk going?

    ReplyDelete
  12. Stein played mostly 4.0 singles tournaments this year which is probably why he did well in the CB.
Although his 4.0 record is not very good.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Stein lost to Mudsham pretty handily in the Spring playoffs,

Mudsham as pretty much MIA along with Tutro in the fall,

Seems like alot of the 3.5 sandbaggers lose the will to play when they get a little competition in 4.0,

i would be interested to see a Where are they now on 3.5 sandbaggers,
    Vejay Singh
    Jeromiii Kesley
    Ben Oberto
    Mudsham
    Tutoro
    Antonio Delrincon
    Ryan Caras
    Mark Slemon

    Anybody I left out?

    ReplyDelete
  14. Other 3.5 sandbaggers

    Glen Flora
    Brian Morrison
    Jerry Defeo
    Sean Brinkman
    Don Harvey
    Zack Courtney
    Candelario Jauregui

    ReplyDelete
  15. Brian Morrison - No Way
    Jerry Defeo - Maybe
    Sean Brinkman - No Way
    Don Harvey - No Way
Zack Courtney - Maybe, Due to injury we never got to find out
    Candelario Jauregui - No way

  16. Thanks guys guess I got lucky on picking.

Good luck to everyone as you prepare for the Spring Season, maybe once I hit town I could meet some of you guys again.

also it is Lyon not Lyons, just so the haters can go look up my record and mock me.

Good luck and here is to everyone having a great and safe New Year's!!

  17. I would love to talk some 2.5 tennis since that is all I know.

    Robert F.

    ReplyDelete
  18. how did Fraser/ryan beat keith/robinson... dont those dude suck?

    ReplyDelete
  19. obviously they don't suck Ryan is solid and Fraser has an ugly yet effective game. They both play with tons of heart and know how to win. Morrison a 3.5 ringer is comical

    ReplyDelete
  20. fraser/ryan got really lucky to go that far. i've seen their game and its not impressive.
who needs heart. look at the dallas cowboys

    ReplyDelete
  21. How about ragging on the Senior Leagues starting this weekend since there is no other tennis for us to bitch about. you know that the old guys cant play worth a damn and most of them are 4.0 players that appealed down so this will give the bloggers something to do!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  22. I would have to say that alot of Ryan/Fraser success and failer had a lot to do with the fact that Keith went so far in singles and that Ryan thought he should play singles. As far as do we suck, that is a matter of opinion and luckily none of yours really matter. I enjoy the occasional yanking of ones leg but some of you guys out there use this a way to talk bad about people rather than just talk about ones game or a match. I just appologize to the guy who picked me to go far in singles, just don't play it man.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Congrats to Ryan/Fraser on winning the 4.0 doubles. You both played well, and deserved to win.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Who won CB 3.5 doubles? Did it have a big draw?

    ReplyDelete
  25. Jeromie, you did kill my 4.0 bracket, but it just went to show, that as a new 4.0, I don't know how to pick or play at the 4.0 level, yet. Congrats on the doubles win.

Also, I would like to thank Marc for sitting up the brackets. It added a little extra to the tournament, which was much too short for me as a player! :-)

Lastly, Kern was the lone person to pick me to win my first round match, I picked myself too but that hardly counts, and it cost him first in the 4.0 bracket. I appreciate him blaming it on Brouer though and he seems to have enjoyed that quite a bit.

Now time to get ready for seniors and tri-level, James.

    ReplyDelete
  26. I can say with absolute certainty that I suck at tennis. When I picked up a racket almost three years ago I sucked (ask anyone); 2 1/2 years ago when I joined my first league on the 3.5 Greenhill team I was the worst player on the team and sucked (ask Bob Kaiser); a year and a half ago when I made Arnette's 4.0 team I was the worst player on his team and sucked (ask Arnette); this year I'm on Boverman's 4.5 team and suck too (ask Ryan B.). Last night in the finals of the Cotton Bowl I looked over at the D1 mixed doubles championship on court next to us and realized that every one of us at the 4.0 championship sucked. Sisk and Noel are probably about to see how much I suck on thier team for tri level as well. About the only thing that I have definitely done well in tennis is the selection of my doubles partner. Ryan is an incredible doubles player and carried my "suck" play through the championship at Little State, every round of the Dallas Cup, and 3 of four mathes of the Cotton Bowl undefeated. It's better to be lucky than good.
    Fraser

    ReplyDelete
  27. I have a bad habit of the fact that people are good guys cloud my predicting abilities. Obviously picking James and Steven brought my winning chances down. As far as Fraser/Ryan, how bad could they be if they beat everyone they faced? Keep hating though since I'm sure they'll lose sometime and you can be happy.
Vik, I'm not sure I will beat anyone in August but thanks for the thoughts. I was happy with my tournament. Wescoup and Huffman were the class of the draw and deserved to play in the final and Ed carried me to another title. That along with my predictions made for a good weekend. Thanks Marc for doing the brackets. Everyone have a happy new year.

    ReplyDelete
  28. tennis link says fraser/ryan lost. I guess its an error. Way to go Fraser/ryan.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Thanks Keith and Kern for the kind words. My only point is that "suck" is a relative word. You'll always suck if you are looking around for a challenge. There are always bigger dogs out there somewhere. Happy New Years to all.

    ReplyDelete
  30. I thought Harrigan and Wayles won 4.0 doubles? But than again, I thought If I were Mr. Daniels I would have taken the Ms. out to the 50 yard line and banged during half time while the band played. Guess I was wrong on both accounts.

    ReplyDelete
  31. No doubt, I would do Ms. Daniels during half time @ the fifty yard line (appearently the make out queen).

    ReplyDelete
  32. The Daniels lady-HOT! Next stop? PLAYBOY PLAYBOY PLAYBOY! Since son is not good enough to make it to the pros. Hey, got to keep the family fortune going somehow. It's all good.

    ReplyDelete
  33. You're killing me Kern. I hate to tell you, but if I had won my match you still would have lost since Robert had me winning that round too. But if it makes you feel better, I was the reason you lost.
Wait so does that mean I finally have a win over you, since I cost you the win? Hmm I may have to take that one.
Hope to see you at the trilevel next month. It's more fun to hear your heckling then to read it.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Ryan/Fraser don't suck. They played well the entire tournament and deserved to win. Congrats guys.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Pass interference. 15 yard penalty on Brouer. Were talking about Ms. Daniels.

    ReplyDelete
  36. That gal is nice looking and lives in Tx (local). At least she keeps the Tx women mystic going. Good job t.v. guys. Just Please don't being out Jessica. I saw her cheering on Steven at the C.B. Ohh, Geez.

    ReplyDelete
  37. funny. chases mom? ummm, i don't think so. she is an old lady.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Don't be a homo. Seniors read this blog too. Oh and hey, senior league starts this weekend.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Fraser it is I that was blessed with a good partner, considering we've played together 9 times and have one loss- those 9 times are over a span of a year. Yes the tennis link is correct we lost the final with only a break of serve in every set. They served great in the final and have impecable hands. Another ata boy goes to TQ. Let me say this good players don't always have to have good strokes. This game is about keeping the ball in 1 time longer and he does a great job. However, I would like to say that Lines are in for this sport and to let you know there were plenty of complaints and overrules so just adjust that TQ you play well enough to not do that. To the rest Have a great 2009

  40. This is a thread I would like to see...

How many "sandbaggers" that were "way out of level" in the spring, that got moved up in the fall, perform at the next level?

Of course, there are a LOT of 3.5 TEAMS that play up in 4.0, so results do have to be taken with a grain of salt. Names I can think of:

    Mudsam
    Prather
    Brinkman
Sisk - I remember seeing his name PLENTY of times, how he was losing matches on purpose
    Defeo
VJ Singh (ok, blast from the past)
    Flora
That Ryan guy from Prather's team (Caras?)
Wasn't there others accused? There had to be more.

I don't know any that were moved up from 4.0 in the Spring to 4.5 in the fall, so could use some help there. Gene? more...

Note: They had to be specifically NAMED as a sandbagger and a cheat according to a previous blog. Can't just throw names out there after the fact.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Sandbagger is easily defined. It is anyone who is better than someone on my team.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Speaking of Playboy a few comments earlier. Anyone see the Ashley Harkelroad issue? Is it worth picking up?

    ReplyDelete
  43. Worth picking up??? Are you high? Sisk, and J. Marcus have bigger breasts!

    ReplyDelete
  44. There are several men in Dallas tennis with bigger breasts. Yet, I would still rather see her nude than any of them.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Even Nancy would jump on this

  48. James Kinson, Ed Ratcliffe

Sorry I let you guys down. At least I got you a few points.

    Samuel Bert

    ReplyDelete
  49. Hey Fraser...for a 4.0, you don't suck half as bad as P. Jones who plays 4.5.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Why no talk about open? That was the biggest draw by far. Were those Collin County CC players in the finals?

    ReplyDelete
  51. The winner is a Harvard Freshman and the finalist is a former UT-Arlington players.

    ReplyDelete
  52. "The winner is a Harvard Freshman and the finalist is a former UT-Arlington players."

Wow Alexei beat TJ 2 and 0 I wonder what happened there?

    ReplyDelete
  53. A Harvard Freshman!!! DAMN! Smarter than me AND plays better tennis.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Who gives a flying fck about P Jones? Did he play in the Cotton Bowl Classic? I think not. Stick to the topic here.

    ReplyDelete
  55. I hear that Nancy is organizing the Dallas Gay Pride parade this year. I'm sure it will be an outstanding event!

    ReplyDelete
  56. Sorry - when I read a bunch of 3.5 garbage my mind roams.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Joey Molina is 3-1 vs TJ, this is not a joke it is true, ask TJ

  59. I'm glad that prick Mkre Getz got beat

    ReplyDelete
  60. You knew that Mkre Gezt guy would get beat early. I think he knew he would too. Mkre just wanted to see his only friends and they live in Dallas.

    ReplyDelete
  61. One tournament does not a season make. Pedro Montalvo, John Bacon and Mark Anderson also got beat early. My guess is that all of them will be ranked in the top 10 at the end of the year along with Getz.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Bacon won't end the season in the top 10. He got kicked up to 4.0 and he will not break the top 100

    ReplyDelete
  63. OMG
Has LOTS started reading this blog?

    ReplyDelete
  64. I can attest that Jason Fraser sucked when he started playing tennis. He didn't know anything about positioning or putting a volley away in 2007. He had a few things going for him - he was athletic, played a lot, took drills and could run down anything. In 1 year his doubles improved tremendously and his singles was even better. Pretty good for a guy that started playing tennis in 2007. I would take him for a partner anytime. He is also a good guy!
    Bob Kayser (BK GH)

    ReplyDelete
  65. Bob Kayser – go back to bed and maybe wake up around spring time.

    ReplyDelete
  66. I started playing tennis in November of '07 and I'm already a 4.5 guy. I didn't take drills either.

    ReplyDelete
  67. 10:35

You are a legend (in your own mind)

    ReplyDelete
  68. The following dude appealed from 4.5 to 4.0 –

    Broome, John K.
    Belton TX

    Current USTA singles ranking: 11

    What a pussy!

    ReplyDelete
  69. Looks like Kayser has put together an awesome senior 3.5 team. I dont think anyomne will be comopetitive with those guys.

    ReplyDelete
  70. Half of Kaysers team are appeals. They are a bunch of Pussies. Hopefully Brookhaven,High Point or LB Houston can compete with them until the playoffs when either Huffines or Oak Ridge can try to take them out.All the appealed players were Benchmarks and not allowed to appeal down but Super Senior Sectionals results were not used in ratings because of being played in late November after season end ratings were figured. So all those players are now allowed to play the Spring and Senior seasons before being bumped to where they belong. So much for the the fairness of the rating system!!! So Kayser is the Senior John Sisk.

  74. Hey 3:52

Unless you decide to check out early and do us all a favor, you will be there one day. So don't even think about picking up a racquet once you hit 50 since you have such a dim view of us seniors.

    ReplyDelete
  77. This site is pretty lame....but nobody makes you log onto it. The reason it sucks is because of all the anons who feel like they can insult whoever they want because their identity won't be revealed. If people would stick to talking about tennis, the site would improve.

    ReplyDelete
  78. Anons or no anons this site will suck balls until March when Spring season gears up.

Even then we have to put up with the 3.5 girl talk

    ReplyDelete
  79. Be kind to anons and 3.5's - they are my friends

  80. I heard the home team is responsible for having a meat wagon and medical personnel present during all senior league home matches. Is this a new usta rule?

  81. To all Anonymous Posters, If you dont post your name stop being so negative to the people who post their name. This site is for tennis remarks not dirty language and insults toward other players. I dont think that was the intention of it.Please respect other young and old and all levels of players. This site was intended for tennis not the other crap that is showing up.Say what you want but have the courage to say it with a real name. There is too much disrespect towards evryone, Otherwise hope everyone has a Great New Year and Good Health.

  83. Hello Ed,

I glad that you had a wonderful holiday. It sounds like you received an old lump of coal and some sour pussy for Christmas. It’s magnificent to here from you. It has been a log time since you’ve posted something on the blog. It’s time to upgrade your computer. The old Trash80 just takes a little to long to boot. It would be nice to here from you a little bit more and help us to stay on the straight and narrow. So, don’t go getting your panties all in a wad. We would just like to hear from you at least once a week.
