A Thanksgiving Cheer

It’s time for Thanksgiving, that time of year;
We meet with friends and begin holiday cheer

As tennis goes, it is time for our break;
To see what year end rankings have at stake

Who gets benchmarked, and who appeals?
And then the plotting for next year rosters reveal

Did the fall match tankings really pay off?
Or will Todd Reed have final say, and just jerk us all off?

If the Fall gives us hints of what is about to appear;
The  Spring line ups that which players start to revere

Will Sisk and Le still be playing on one team?
Who’ll be on the roster to keep those two clean?

If tri-level gives me any indication;
Will Kingsley get bumped down  and start giving dictation?

Whatever collaboration that have up their mind;
My nod goes to them to leave all others  behind.

With Ryan and Shawn back down to 4.0;
And Clarks’s roster of players, they make it a go

If these 3 captains really pull it together;
Freeman in Houston will be calling Pete Delkus bout the weather

But that’s just 4.0, we have 4 other levels;
What else is in store and what else will be settled?

Starting as 3.0 is as low as I go;
And Bender is back to win, place, and show.

With Bender gone, 3.5 is fair game;
A chance for the country clubbers to make their own claim?

Will it be CC ?  They’ve been there before;
But McKinney and Stonebridge will be knocking on their door

As for 4.5, its been Russo making the press;
Taking the fall with ease and less stress

A Red and Blue team he gave us this Fall;
Just needing a White team to make Pats of us all

But Reiman and Nancy still haven’t lost sight;
And are surely to be Spring’s Nemesis to fight

As for 5.0, the real clubs start to appear;
The Village and T-Bar are the ones to fear

 Shit, T-Bar don’t even botha with 3.5 or 4.0;
Cuzz they know at 5.0 they have win, place or show.

Yeah, I know, I used the same rhyme twice;
Just getting drunk on wine and old pumpkin spice

So enough of my drinking and poetry in flight;
Happy Thanksgiving to all, and to all a good night.

  1. So, is everyone on pins and needles to see the new ratings. Did the tanking work?

    1. Ratings come out Tuesday. Have to wait another day to determine value of tanking.

  2. actually, more interested to see comments about the email the DTA sent to the captains about the playoffs...

  3. whoever posted this terrible crap thanksgiving story wanted to get the heat off the DTA controversy. I saw Andre's email it was pretty solid

  4. Did you see the DTA email explaining the options they had? Andre complains with no resolution. It sucks, but what is another option to resolve the weather. Remember you need volunteers, ref, and site to run the playoffs. Andre makes me laugh.

  5. He is also a solid bump up. Not one loss in tri level

  6. The option is you reschedule it to one of the 20 weekends we have until spring gets here. Not rocket science. Or you play single elimination playoff. Similar number of total matches and nobody gets left out.

  7. Seems like last year's solution was a good option, Complete the women's matches as planned and delay the men's to another weekend. That way all matches would be played. I saw that suggested on here before the weekend began. I guess the DTA decided that playing all of the matches over two weekends was too difficult.

  8. The DTA has had no interest in accommodating or serving the leagues. They are mostly interested in the Brookhaven Juniors.

    1. Men's league is their least concern. They screw the men. We are trying to get a 40s team together and we can't even do it until ratings come out. I thought they were coming out today.

  9. DTA passes on Corey for Klameci, how did that turn out?? Corey is thriving at Cooper. DTA eliminates 2nd placed teams due to a Texas forecast.....what's next??

    1. What's next is manipulation of ratings so that certain teams will have a chance. Oh, that has been done already, my bad.

    2. If you are a country club player and always get beat, just complain and get your nemesis moved up.

    3. If you think the first manual manipulation was a firestorm, wait until the second one.

  10. Corey had options, did you consider them?? It wouldn't have mattered if Andre had options, you wouldn't have budged anyway......you are laughable!

  11. Moving the men's playoffs evidently wasn't too hard to handle last year. If the fees weren't all paid up front it would be a different issue for the DTA. If they lose fees next fall to a competing league they will finally have to rethink their attitude to these problems. For years all they have learned it that they can continue to get away with it.

  12. Ratings out in 12 hours. Who is the sandbagger of the year?

    1. He's been clearly sandbagging for years.

  13. If each league player will send us a dollar we will publish the ratings early. PayPal or western union will suffice. The funds will go to defending our lawsuits over manual manipulation of certain player (s) and the removal of qualified teams during playoff weekend. If we get $1,000 by midnight we will replay the men's playoffs and stop the favoritism toward the country flubs.
    Sincerely,
    THE BIG 3

  14. ratings are out, not sure if final, don't see any benchmark players

  15. Rossouw 5.0 & Myers 5.0 and Kelly 4.5. Anybody else find this a little ironic.

    ReplyDelete
  16. It appears that while benchmarks are still used in NTRP calculations, they will no longer be identified with a B in the ratings.

  17. My partner was bumped to 4.5 after going 4-3. We will never understand what the hell system they use. Another player got bumped down mid year, didn't play any more and then bumped back up.

  18. Looking at some of the bump downs to 4.0, not sure if the problem is the DTA or the folks that play. Some absolutely pathetic tankers out there.

    Funny how they all tend to be related to Alan A., Tony Le or Keith Clark.

  19. Russow a joke at 5.0, Myers a joke at 5.0. Easily should win appeal.. Clark ?? This guy is a genius at keeping people down

  20. Where are the ratings? I didn't see them posted
