Happy Monday

Sorry for those 32 uninformed voters who chose my team in the poll for this weekend. I enjoyed the weekend regardless of the outcome. Dwight's team was very strong, when I saw him and Pete were signed up I knew they would be tough. In our match with them I actually played with Danny Man v. Korbin and Bernard due to a schedule mix up and they beat us in a 3rd set tiebreaker so they are solid from top to bottom. Best of luck to them and overall a great weekend for all involved. I know a few captains sent a note to Jane Gilpin afterwards imploring the DTA to keep this at 6 teams for next year so we could keep this round robin format. Not sure what you all think as a whole but I do like that format especially in the Spring when 2nd place matters as well.

Also I wanted to thank Granger Huntress for the mention in Tennis Life magazine. I had a very good conversation with him a month ago about our site and I know I have been taking a break lately but I still enjoy the blog and can't wait for April.

In the meantime the Senior season is underway, maybe we need a Senior reporter to break that group down?????? Hint Hint

Tournaments:
The first big major is coming up soon on the first weekend of February. 400 points to be had and only about a 2 hour drive out to Abilene. How many of you Dallasites are planning on signing up? I believe registration ends Jan. 26th.

Next up, the Big boys Tri Level.

  1. Keeping the 6 team format sounds like a good idea because it provides a lot of playing time for everyone.

Also the DTA and Texas Section should push the USTA to provide a National Championship for this event. Why treat this as a "orphan"

  2. Why have two tri-level categories / divisions / events (4.5, 4.0, 3.5 and 4.0, 3.5, 3.0)? What about the idea of having just one? Have one national quad-level event (4.5, 4.0, 3.5, 3.0)?

  3. It was impossable to find 3.0 players,
The big boy tri-level filled up fast.
I wanted to put a team together, All the team spots in the big tri were filled,
I got in contact with at least 15 3.0's and none of them wanted to play.
I think it speaks to the commitment of the 3.0 players.

    How about just a 4.0 & 3.5 bi-level,
Nancy would win the Bi for sure.

  4. I play for another team, but I am voting for Pickett. I am hoping for the Bazan curse effect.

  7. Silly Anon,

    Anon's don't play!
They only criticize people who do!

  8. Anons are the deep dark corners of your subconscious mind.

They are the dumping of the truth to those who can not handle reality.

    ReplyDelete
  9. Finals = Thompson v Pickett
    Champs = Pickett

Few legitimately leveled players on either roster.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Did you vote for Bazan too last week?

    ReplyDelete
  11. Thompson will win tri level and Pickett will not make it out of the RR. The team with Ellis and Ramos/Lasalle win that flight.

    ReplyDelete
  12. The Icepick carves up the competition!!

    ReplyDelete
  13. Icepick's team is awesome. I dont see how they can lose.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Nancy's team wins it all, bwhahahahaha. 4.5, is Nancy going to actually play doubles with his cut backhand? 4.0, welcome to a new level of competition Mr. Flora. Fraser is pretty good but Oberto and Flora are just alright. Stein is pretty good but Wiley and Sisk on one court may cause an earthquake. Stein ain't good enough to carry either one.

  15. Where do we go to see individual match results for the tri-level

    ReplyDelete
  16. Icepick has solid players at every level. On paper they should definitely win this weekend:

  17. why dont those pricks at the dta post the 2009 calendar?

  18. I have a Bob's steak and chop house gift card from Christmas for 200.00 + will put 300.00 extra on Friday night. My bet is Zack carries one of us to a 3.5 victory, you bring 300.00. Bet? Put up or shut up!!!!! uh huh that's what I thought!Won't do it!
    Sisk

  19. That's funny that Sisk got a $200 gift certificate for Bob's Steak and chop house,

Too bad that will just cover his tab,
He'll have to go by himself.

  20. Pickett and Thompson definitely have good teams. Yet, I think we will still show up and play.

    ReplyDelete
  21. No, Greg it sounds like the tri-level is already decided so we should just stay home and let Pickett and Thompson play the finals on Friday. I mean they are so far above everybody else why should any other teams even bother? Our players certainly have never beaten them before. Good luck in the finals Joel and Collin!!!

    ReplyDelete
  22. Sisk,
You must be playing some real scrubs on Friday for you to put that bet out there!

    ReplyDelete
  23. $300 on beating my 3.5ers? Wow! I will let them know.

I just can't believe I couldn't garner 1 SINGLE VOTE for my team.

    ReplyDelete
  24. BMO, to help your hurt feelings, I changed my vote for you.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Rossouw will win the tri level. Guarantee it!!

  26. Who's going to write a new topic about the Big Balla Try-Level?

    ReplyDelete
  27. It will be NOEL vs Kraemer in the finals.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Nancy is jealous his team is not getting any recognition. Poor baby!

    ReplyDelete
  29. ha ha! Thanks Wiley. I actually had to change my vote too after Sisk Called my 3.5ers losers in a round about way.

But like they say, good thing you got to play them. I certainly wouldn't have predicted the Cards and Eagle's this weekend.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Wow, Sisk calling out Anderson and Gerber!!

    ReplyDelete
  31. Noel vs Kraemer???? You can't be serious.

    ReplyDelete
  32. only if nancy leaves herself out of the lineup

    ReplyDelete
  33. Nancy knows where she belongs in the lineup. Yeah, I'm jealous because the support of anonymous people means so much to me. It obviously helped Cary with his tri-level team. Also, I seem to remember a certain team was getting all the props going into the fall playoffs before they went 0-3. I would prefer to get no votes because I can use that to motivate my team.

I will put up a new thread for the tri-level tonight or tomorrow maybe. I'm looking forward to this event. It was a lot of fun last year and I'm sure this year will be the same.

    ReplyDelete
  34. With only three lines and a 3rd set tiebreak it is impossible to predict who is the clear favorite. I see 4 teams who could easily win this thing. Sorry Morrison but you are not one of them. Haha Hopefully that will motivate your team. Only thing certain is it will be a fun weekend of partying and tennis.
    Pickett

    ReplyDelete
  35. Icepick- you don't need to put Pickett after posting as Icepick. We know ya man.

    ReplyDelete
  36. One thing is if someone calls you Icepick, but you calling yourself that, how freaking gay. You do seem like you could go both ways and rumor has it that you and Doug Smith may be closet butt pirates.

    ReplyDelete
  37. how stupid of a anonymous comment. seriously.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Out of curiosity... who are the four teams?

    ReplyDelete
  39. Sorry about the comment Snoop.

    ReplyDelete
  40. I don't know Gerber, but have heard all good things. Kim,Bmo,Kaiser all great guys, they know how I feel. I'd like to meet Eddie as we share the same abuse on this blog.

  41. Its all good sisk, I dint think u meant it the way it came out. u were just proud of ur team. Its fun to have some rivalry going. no worries.

my team now has it's locker room post.

  42. "I would prefer to get no votes because I can use that to motivate my team."

If you have to use something that stupid to motivate your team, then you got problems.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Calling those two "butt pirates"!!! Now that is some funny stuff!!!

    ReplyDelete
  44. Snoop gets more hot pu$$y than all of you anonymous combined.

    ReplyDelete
  45. I don't think you would be calling Icepick and Doug butt pirates if you saw their ladies, both are hot as shit!! You keep pounding the fatties and hating on the boys that get the hotties!!

    ReplyDelete
  46. I wouldn't call Snoops latest a hotty. Decent body but not so much in the face.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Those silly anons. never slow to bash are they.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Snoop, you should have stuck with Icepick. He is prettier than the new woman.

    ReplyDelete
  49. come on guys, seriously. this is not the place for cheap shoting people's wives, girlfriends, or anything else like that. Have a little decency!

That is extremely uncool. Just because it is anonymous, doesn't make it right. an apology is in order.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Hey BMo, it's easy to see why you defend the turd burglers as word is you may be one too. Can you prove otherwise, didn't think so. You have to respect how you all stick up for each other though.

    I shouldn't have said that, I apologize.

    ReplyDelete
  51. C'mom guys, cool it! My 9 year old daughter reads this stuff and she is starting to ask questions about what you all are saying.

    ReplyDelete
  52. It's time for a new topic. Hurry up Nancy!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  53. Did we ever figure out who the 4 teams were that could win this weekend?

    ReplyDelete
  54. Pickett, Thompson, Kraemer, Noel, Russow

    ReplyDelete
  55. A word to the wise ain't necessary -- it's the stupid ones that need the advice

    ReplyDelete
  56. So which of the 5 may not win?

    ReplyDelete
  57. Nancy "The Pink Panty" Noel will win it!

    ReplyDelete
  58. i'm stupid and full of wisdom

    ReplyDelete
  59. FYI the national USTA organization had published their 2009 calendar of events showing dates and locations of all national events.

The Texas Section has also published their 2009 calendar.

The DTA still has their thumbs up their ass _ still showing the 2008 league calendar.

  60. Only jealous people who are home alone every night blog about other guys wives and girlfriends.
Now back to the tri level. I'm assuming our match will be in the climate controlled area since we are playing Brookhaven. Everyone else bundle up because the barn will be cold. See you all Friday night.
