First look at how 4.0 is shaping up

We are now four matches into the season so there is enough match history to have a bit of a picture to work from.  Also I just changed jobs and my new employer has actually wanted me to work.  Hopefully that changes soon.

4.0 flight A - at the head of the pack and undefeated is Oak Creek/Iyer.  They have been in or close to the playoffs fairly frequently the last few seasons.  Tied at 3-1 are Garland/Kanchi, TBar/Snow and Royal Oaks/Templeton.  Normally I'd pick Garland to win this flight but they also have the QT wildcard from winning the fall so that muddies the water a little.  Should be Oak Creek and Garland at the end.

4.0 flight B - much to still be decided here.  High Point/Somabut is the only undefeated team in this flight but there are four teams still tied at 3-1; Canyon Creek/Patterson, Springpark/Walters, Huffhines/Ratcliffe and McKinney/Clifton.  High Point will be there when the season is done.  Who will be with them?  Inside edge to Huffhines because they have already beaten Canyon Creek, but Huffhines plays Springpark this Saturday and the winner is in the driver's seat for second in this flight.

4.0 flight C - this flight is completely back loaded for the second half of the season with four teams still undefeated.  In order of current line lead we have Greenhill/Ohl, Hackberry/Myers, Brookhaven/Bartlett and Garland/Russell.  The gauntlet begins this weekend though with the first elimination match being Hackberry versus Garland. Neither of these teams has excelled at singles and have been riding their doubles thus far.  Greenhill and Brookhaven look a little stronger on paper but all these teams are close enough that it will depend highly on who is available for the key matches.

4.0 flight D - while flights B and C are the toughest top to bottom, this is the weakest.  We currently have Eldorado/Browning as the only undefeated team followed at one loss each by Chandlers Landing/McLemore and Lakes/Reifsnyder.

Not the strongest year for 4.0 in Dallas in general and several teams have a fair shot of advancing to sectionals.  Early favorite is still Garland/Kanchi but it isn't anywhere close to the team he had last year.

  1. Yes, for the first time in a while there are no out of level 4.0's in the men's league. Unfortunately that is not the case everywhere outside of Dallas. We play by the rules here for the most part.

    1. No out of level players in 4.0? I've seen a lot of 3.5s in the league.

    2. Yes, nice thing there are no 4.5's playing at 4.0 with the exception of possibly a couple of Raja's guys but even then not truly out of level.

  4. Hookhaven or Canyon Crooks s would have gotten it, maybe even Greenspill or Low Point or Oak Weak. Sprungpork got screwed.

  5. Only 10 of a possible 16 teams in 8.0 sectionals.

    That's ok. 18's 8.0 has a May-August schedule. Yes 16 weeks for 7 teams. Great job.

    1. Yes, easily have 6 more spots, easily. Instead they decide to not add any wildcards. We may file a protest because we feel we should be going and deserve it.

    4. We had the best team at Brookhaven but were short a few people when we played Sprungporkers. Kelley should be banned from 8.0! Won way too much. Davis too.

    6. Shut up and post your name! Davis at 8.0 ok. He even lost a match at cities. Kelley didn't drop a set, won more than half his sets at 6-0 or 6-1 and even laid a golden set on my friend Sunday morning. That is ridiculous! Ban him again!!!!!!!!!!

  6. All I am saying is if brokehaven or Canyon Weak was the second place team a wildcard would have been gifted.

  7. Hoping for a speedy return in health for Kelly, Sam Huynh, Hai, and TQ after the tough loss[s they took last weekend... Something must be seriously wrong looking at the results and who they lost to.. Pathetic!

  8. Not sure but I know for a fact Kelley is hurt. He has a hangnail on his pinkie. Didn't affect him in mixed Playoffs or beating Cameron Nash in TCD but bothered him otherwise. Prayers for a speedy recovery.

  10. Funny how the 4.0 league seems fairly even but 4.5 full of tankers. And they all on same team! Coincidence I guess.

  11. 4.0 full of tankers too. Look at Sisk roster. Tony Le who was a 4.5 tanks to 4.0 and wins 4.0 Nationals a year ago. Then tanks his way back down to 4.0 again and now can't win a match at 4.0 ? Is he trying to get down to 3.5 ?? Teterude too ? pathetic

  12. Tony Le is a 4.0. Teterud is a 4.0. They are rated where they should be. However at 3.5 they would be ringers. Tony Le will be a 3.5 next year.

  14. Sure you did Blake.... that's why kelly is good at tanking he leaves his victorious opp with the thought that they won "fair and square".

  15. And by the way I talked to a friend who knows Wendell Shillig who beat mile k at the Brookhaven tourney back in march. Start giving other people credit. I have had 10-20 people thank me for beating him.
