And We're Off

There was a little rain in Dallas on Saturday, particularly if you were playing later in the afternoon, so I’m not sure how long it will take to get some of the 4.5 scores in.  Here’s a recap of what we have so far.

4.5 A – We haven’t learned a lot in this flight yet but I really don’t think there is much to learn.  Greenhill and McKinney have posted big wins over Royal Oaks and Samuel Grand but that was expected.  Rossouw’s troops should sleepwalk through this flight.

4.5 B – Not many scores posted here yet but my question for week one was answered when Oak Creek beat Lakes 3-2.  There were FOUR three setters in this match, with each team winning two of them.  This one was expected to be close and it was.  This will be an interesting flight to watch all season with several good teams in it.  Next week I’d say the Brookhaven/Harllee versus Lifetime/Arcaria match will be of the Match of the Week.

4.5 C – I was curious about the SpringPark versus Village match but it hasn’t posted yet.  I’ll keep an eye out for it.  TBar took a 4-1 win over Gleneagles who had a good 40s run.  Next week it looks like the Huffines/Hammond versus SpringPark/Aguilar match will be one to watch.

4.0 A – In last week’s MOW it looks like McKinney didn’t get the memo, rolled out a suspect lineup, and lost a very close 3-2 match.  Maybe they are relying on the automatic QT birth.  High Point should sail through the rest of this flight.

4.0 B – Oak Creek, McKinney, Huffines and Greenhill separated themselves a little from Brookhaven and SpringPark in week one.  We will have Oak Creek and Greenhill in week two so someone has to give one back quick.

4.0 C – Huffines/Jayaram made a bit of a statement sweeping McKinney/Oh.  Looks like Huffines, Greenhill/Ohl and Canyon Creek/Patterson to duke it out here.

4.0 D – The best 4.0 matches will be in this flight with all four undefeated teams squaring off against each other.  McKinney/Bazan faces Oak Creek/Iyer while LB Houston/Gordon faces Garland/Sisk.  It won’t be over after two weeks but it will be pared way down.

  1. And now I'd like to pass along a message from a long time viewer.
There seems to be some confusion on which blog some of the information should be posted to. Please tell them this is actually the Dallas men's blog. Their personal TCD results should be filed at www.no-one-gives-a-shit.com.

  2. Sorry but i just want everyone to know that i wouldnt lose at tcd unless i wanted to lose! End of story.

  3. This has got to be some kind of record. In 5.0+ week one, Lakes/Jannasch beat Brookhaven/Harllee 3-0. But they only lost three total games. 0&1, 0&1, 1&0

    ReplyDelete
  4. So Kelly is trying to claim he tanked a TCD match? You lost and quit embarrassing yourself. Everyone knows you tank men's matches and give all your effort to TCD, Mixed and Trilevel.

    1. Kelley not claiming it at all. I spoke w him and he was told to tap the brakes on his Ted results after beating Cameron Nash. The data used his Ted results against him in his ratings manual bump up as a reason. I talked to mike and he said he would def try to keep the rest of his Ted matches close or lose. I know Mike and he is very aware of the dta and others looking at his scores outside of Usta. Most don't like him but he knows exactly what he is doing, right or wrong

  6. Screw Tcd. Let's talk men's. What I want to know is how in the HELL do Mike Kelly and Zackary beat Scott pollok and Jorge in Corey's flex league. I heard they played tonight unless someone pulling my leg. If that's true that is unbelievabel. Corey can u confirm this or post the results online somewhere?

    3. Cooree, tells us which pollock it was that lost and what 4.5 team is he on... We can't wait!!!

      Delete
    4. Ha it's my league so of course I'll come on and talk about it. There are two Scott D Pollocks on the Lakes team that I helped Shawn Arcaria with. One is the Lakes stalwart who has been 5.0 many times. The other is a 4.5, currently getting crushed in my flex singles league by 4.5s and 5.0s. The second one is the one Mike played.

  7. That has to be a joke. Pollock and partner don't lose to zakry and kelley

  8. 9:59 is right. Scott Pollock plays with Jorge Barron. Both can compete at 5.0. Kelley and Zaquiry no way beat them. Prob just a late April fools joke! Please post FACTS!!!!!! If Kelley managed to win that hell would freeze over!!!!

  9. Yes Zackry n Kelly Beat Scott N Jorge 6-2/7-5
Kelly was up 4-1 and Zackry hurt bottom of foot but manage to pull it out.

  10. i dont believe it unless i here from someone who was there or someone who knows scott or jorge or from Coredawg himself. polock solid 4.5/5.0 and Orhey solid 4.5/5.0 and both have won at 5.0. zacry solid/high 4.0 and who knows what kelley is when trying 100% but if he managed to win that match with mike z that is damn impresiv. not another 4.5 on the planet that wins that carrying zacry.

    ReplyDelete
  11. why do you people care???!!!! you will never know bec these flex league scores are not published and only a league for egotistical maniacs. kelly only plays them bec he knows nobody else willhave him on a 4.5 team!

  12. I guess I am the only one (and I don't like or dislike Mike K) but if that was a real match played and Kelly and Mike Z beat them I am not surprised. I have played Mike K quite a few times and if totally engaged in the match he is a VERY solid opposition that gives you nothing. He has the abilty to take weaker partners and dominate a match. Not sure how but def. a very tough player to beat for anyone at any level. Maybe Pollock and Jorge were tanking a flex league match? Bwahaha

  13. I just saw that the Lifetime/Arcaia vs Garland/Sisk match results are now posted. Can anyone on either team explain what happend with the 0-4 result in the Zackary vs Glasgow retired match??? Looks really curious.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Nothing curious. Zackary got hurt, couldn't finish and retired w injury. Sisk didn't complete two matches and still only lost 3-2. Lol. Where are those people now that said he would go 0 and 40?

    ReplyDelete
  15. that Sisk team be a tanking team. There will be all sort of curious results on that team. Just wait and see...

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Yes, no doubt. Even more funny is Glasgow is 9-14 in his last 23 matches and by beating him it doesn't hurt your rating. Lifetime knew Sisk was going to lose the match so by Glasgow tanking it would have been hilarious to see how that match finished if Zacry had not figured it out. Sisk had 4 players total in that match and 3 of them were tanking and also one default and Sisk line 1 guy is just a solid 4.0 and still only lost 3-2. Absolutely hilarious. What a joke

      Delete
    2. That may be the only match lifetime wins all year

      Delete
  16. Glasgow was tanking to Zacry knowing Sisk had already defaulted a line and zacry finally figured it out and quit before Glasgow let him win first set. Zacry trying to get back to 4.0. What is funny is beating Glasgow wouldn't have hurt his rating and ironically if zacry would have kept playing Glasgow was gonna let him win and Sisk would have won 3-2. Crazy. So many behind the scenes things going On in that match its hard to keep up with.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Hey at least zacry tell every one he tankin lol lol and should be playing 4.0. Gotta give me credit their

      Delete
    3. pretty sure captains are invited to attend the draw.

      Delete
    4. The point is no whether there is a draw or whether it's public or private. The point is why not just make a system that actually works? Captains' poll, player's poll, anything. Their "seeding system" isn't working, when apparently only 1 or 2 teams were seeded, out of 30. Should be like a tournament with at least 8 seeds per 32 teams. Unfathomable to me how three city championship teams would be in one flight, and the DTA put 4 in.

      Delete
    5. Does brookhaven or canyon creek have the easy side again. When the two clubs control the dta, it's easy to see they are sooooo fair.

      Delete
    6. Thanks Corey for the input. Since you have been to nationals exactly ZERO times I would say the DTA is doing a great job.

      Delete
    7. How is that relevant to DTA flights? I'm proud of the fact that I haven't been to Nationals. I don't tank and I don't sign up for these 3-4 team leagues with free rides to Sectionals. Go wash your 3.5 nationals t-shirt while I play 5.0

    2. What are you smoking 2:46? Everyone feels that way after they beat mike. It is their Super Bowl. Mike knows when his team has won and when to coast and he knows when he is needed as a lock. You will me er see him lose a deciding match. He is unique in that he is aware of EVERYTHING going on.

  25. If you must call his losses you must call his wins. He beat down Justin Huffman 3 weeks before hernia surgery. He has only been out of hospital 16 days, to get 2 games was pretty impressive if you ask me. He beat me in a super tiebreak when he won his first trilevel title in 2013, and I will never forget him. Charming, smooth and as good as he wants to be. Ironically that was my last tiebreak before I retired from pro tennis

  29. 4.5 Update

Flight A - Rossouw end of story. They were blessed with a very easy flight, not that it matters with the solid roster they have.

Flight B - BH Harlee in good shape with wins over Lifetime and OC already. There are two matches of the week in this flight this week. Not shocking as the DTA loaded up this flight just to remind us on inept they are. We have Lifetime vs JCC where JCC can separate itself from most of the flight or Lifetime stays in contention with a win. The other match is Lakes vs BH, where BH has the opportunity to knock of Lifetime, OC and the Lakes in 3 straight weeks. With a win Lakes stays in contention.

Flight C - Springpark sits at 3-0 with a nice roster. Not great but solid. They also benefit from a crap flight. They play Glenn Eagles this week which is probably the best match in this flight for this week.

8 matches = 56 spots to play guys (assuming no defaults)

Guys will only get 2 matches for the season.

All for a team that will not even go to Nationals. Over 1/2 the roster will not play cities or sectionals if they get there.

People bitch and bitch, but at the end of the day...let's have a draft and build the strongest team. Rossouw and Reiman....get over your egos. Rossouw has great doubles...Reiman has good singles. Reiman's doubles teams aren't great and Rossouw single's aren't great....hmmm tells you something.
