Mixed City Championship Preview.. City Championships this weekend

The Mixed Doubles City Championships are this weekend.  There will only be a couple matches as in both 7.0 and 8.0 it is 3 seed v 2 seed and then winner plays against the 1 seed.  I was waiting for all appeals to be granted or denied before I made this post.  The DTA has made some changes but it looks to be changes to harm Springpark even more.

7.0  In the first matchup, it will be High Point/Le v McKinney/Muniz.  Muniz has a small roster so he had better hope there aren't any players out of town.  Le has a big roster and I think he has 5 lines that can beat anything Muniz can put out.  I like High Point to win 3-0.  The winner gets to play Springpark/????.  I'm not sure who the captain is since AlanA can't captain.  Springpark has Zackary, Pearson, Wiley and Scott for men.  Still, I don't think any combination of those three will be enough and Le wins 3-0 again and advance to sectionals.

8.0 In the first matchup, we have Cooper Fitness/Noel vs Greenhill/Carlson.  Greenhill has a ton of players and they did beat the mighty Springpark machine before the suspensions.  Sam Huynh and partner beat Gene Davis and partner.  This match looks like it was the deciding match.  Sam has been downright awful in men's league this year but seems to handle the slower girls ball much better.  Corey's crew beat Greenhill in their regular season match.  I think Corey and Mabe win their lines and advance to play the very good but not as mighty Springpark/????? team.  I think this comes down to a 2-1 win for Corey.  I think Kyle Davidson wins and I think somebody gets a third set breaker in a deciding line between Pollard and partner.

Best of Luck to everyone.  Mot importantly, don't get hurt.

  1. Alan had this post in the previous thread so I am copying and pasting it because it adds to the discussion.

Our appeal was denied. The only thing they did was reduce Mike's and Gene's suspension to less then a year. This way we can't appeal at a national level. Tomorrow i will post what happened and let everyone in on the bs. Including why I think the Dta had a lot to do with helping the person who filed the grievance. I'm not signing my name after this post. This way they can't prove its me and take further actions.

    1. Not only did they keep the ban they made it where they can't appeal?

  2. SP still wins cities easily, Davidson / White and Zackary / Pollard are both 9.0 teams playing 8.0. Their 3rd line will be tough too.

  3. I think it would be funny if Kelly's FW team were to go to nationals.

  4. Just curious why TTA and DTA have allowed Davidson to stay at 4.5 even while playing #1 at a nationally ranked D2 school? and having a national singles ranking. Just curious, I am sure it is just because it is the computer.

    1. yep, he would have to self-rate as a 5.5 now....but he's grandfathered in by the computer at 4.5

  5. can that be challenged with DTA or USTA?

    1. Don't think so

    2. I heard there is a work around and once it is in the system it is final. Anyone know?

    3. Somehow Carlos Aguilar got moved up with a computer rating, likely it had something to do with going back and proving he lied on his self-rating form in years past. I think that ship has sailed for Davidson, you're best hope now is that he's at school or playing 9.0.

  6. how the hell can a local association shut down a grievance before it can go higher up, but then again this is the USTA, they have nothing good for the past 10-15 years other than waste money on spoiled brats and entertain to various vocal groups, I will leave it at that.

  7. Ruben Muniz has 2 or 3 of Tony Le players DQ - time for some payback by Le..Ruben has no future in dallas tennis if he keeps doing what he does

    1. if he submitted a grievance and they were DQ'd after review by DTA/TTA, not sure why he deserves payback. In my mind, he deserves kudos.

    3. I agree that if you lie on the self rate that you should be DQ'd. Rueben God nothing wrong.

  8. Kyle rated 4.5 in high school. He was a super champ with no college association. He didn't lie on his self rate form.

    1. there needs to be rule though once you sign to play somewhere and especially when you play #1 at a ranked school D1-3, then you should be automatically be bumped once it is shown, of course I also feel Super Champ players should be automatic 5.0, hell I was only a middle of the road Champ Level and did very well at 4.5 when first joined, but the USTA has allowed it and has caused the skewing of ratings. At this rate I should be a 3.5 not a 4.5 if I were to self rate now.

    2. The kid that beat SETX's top 4.5 player was ranked in the 90s in Supers. He should 5.0. I agree too much has been skewed.

  9. Le is not competing at cities. Sectionals are the same weekend as 4.0 nationals.

  10. I'm waiting until Monday for my post. It will be my last time on the blog. I will explain how Kyle is still a 4.5 and why I deserve a suspension. Not for this act, but a prior act.

If you have any questions, ask them. I will answer them like I always have and then you can call me a liar.

  11. That's why it's so important for a kid to self rate as soon as possible before any college committments...that way regardless of what happens in the future, he's untouchable.

    1. that's why when the USTA changed the rules allowing 17 y.o. to play league has screwed up the ratings system. Play league as a 17 y.o. Junior in HS, get a rating and then Fall/Spring of Sr Year sign with a college, oops now to late to do anything. Put the rule back in place that requires you turn 19 in the year of competition and it eliminates this issue

    2. And while you're at it, enforce the self-rate guidelines for computer rated college players that actively meet the criteria. It's stupid to say that if you're a former ranked D2 player under 30 you have to self-rate as 5.5, but currently ranked D2 players can be eligible to play 4.5.

  12. Are these kids getting paid or are their father's making them? When I was in high school and moved on to college tennis there is no way I would be interested in playing usta with old guys (now I am an "old guy").

  13. Le only had 1 team at city playoffs. Because he played less then half the matches, isn't that a team default and his players are banned for a year from playing mixed. Let's see the dta follow the rules.

    1. I'm pretty sure this means the captain can't captain anything Dallas related for a 12 months. Does this mean Tony can't captain at nationals?

  14. Very interesting day in mixed so far. Le's team disqualified and Springpark's ringer no shows for 8.0. Pretty crazy.

    1. I guess that is another reason mixed gets no respect.

  15. And Corey doesn't play Mabe or Kirch.

Good luck to Greenhill in sectionals. But, if they could only beat springpark with a default and their line 5 and 6 with a 2-1 score and there only win 10-8, I don't think they have a chance.

    SpringPark wins 7.0.

  16. Mabe and Kirsch decided to play another tournament in lieu of playoffs. I choked my line and thus we are at home for Sectionals. Congrats to the Greenhilll team!

    ReplyDelete
  17. That sucks. You would have won. There's a tournament every weekend and to screw over your whole team. Ouch.

  18. Who won 7.0 and 8.0 today? I don't see results on tennis link

    1. SP lost at 8.0. DTA will update scores after they recover from their post-celebration hang overs tomorrow.

  19. Always excuses when Spring Park doesn't win. Good luck Greenhill! They deserve it and won the head to head.

    ReplyDelete
  20. They did and SpringPark lost there top 3 teams. If you can't beat them, get them dq'd. Good luck luck to Greenhill.

    ReplyDelete
  21. SpringPark got screwed by the DTA... We all know SpringPark would of won if they had there 3 strong lines.

  22. Le biggest cheat in Dallas.. DTA doesn't do anything about it.
I hear he Suspended for 1 year from mix. Should he be Suspended like Kelly from all Dallas teams? They Suspended Kelly from National should they do the same for LE??

    ReplyDelete
  23. Yes, way to go greenhill! You were given one line, lost the other and won one match 10-8 in a breaker. No gene, no Kyle, no Alan and no kelly( who btw whipped your butt first go round). Oh, and you had help from Corey whose better players would rather play tourneys. But mostly the DTA helped as well. If you can't beat em, DELETE EM. DTA slogan (delete the assholes). Great win guys!

    ReplyDelete
  24. DTA can't do anything to Le about defaulting over half the lines because Steve Nolan does it every year and did it three times last year and they have refused to do anything to him.

    ReplyDelete

    1. Nolen's wife works at the DTA. Of course they will do nothing. he could put rafa at singles and the bryan brothers at doubles and the dta would look the other way. Gimme a break. at times there were never any matches even played and still scores reported. please.

      Delete
    2. The issue wasn't that they defaulted two lines. They substituted players after the match began. Thus their whole team was defaulted and banned from playing next year.

  25. i SAW ALAN AND KELLEY OUT THERE YESTERDAY hiding. I thought they were banned from attending. The dta should slap another year on them.

    1. If that is really true and can be proved he was there by witnesses he could truly receive a longer suspension. I am sure DTA will look into this. They would love for him to violate his suspension one more time. Could be first multi year ban ever. All kidding aside, that is serious.

      Delete
    2. It would be a 5 year ban for the next violation, then it would be lifetime ban. I don't think a lifetime ban would be easy to stick but snubbing his nose at his suspension and showing up yesterday would be a USTA decision for punishment. Violation of local penaltiy automatically goes to nationals. And you can bet they are licking their chops to remove him 5 years if this is really true.

      Delete
    3. USTA lost all leverage for 5 yr and longer bans when they allowed the NORCAL 4.0 cheats about 10 yrs ago get their suspensions down to 1 yr after their cheating at Nationals. USTA wants the money to bad to suspend players longer than 1 yr.

  26. That's a total lie. I'm on the 7.0 team and Alan was not there and mike is on bed rest surgery. Don't start more crap.

    1. Bullcrap. I saw mike k yesterday trying to instigate trouble. As if he needs more suspensions. He should banned for life. Best thing to happen yet is he cant attend nationals or sectionals this year. something he is used to will be no more. Gotta love it!

      Delete
    2. That was mike Zachary.

      Delete
    3. Nope. Zacry can barely win a 7.0 match in a breaker. I know who he is. Surprised he played with his track record. He is an afterthought. Anyway, I am telling you I saw what looked to be Mike k hitting indoors at Hookhaven.

  27. really? i guess the match was played at the hospital where kelley has been for 2 weeks plus. But i guess if you say it on here it is true, maybe they let him out for a couple hours. i will ask Tony if he was there, that way i know what the real answer is.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Funny. The hords of people that dislike Mike K saw him, the very few who like him say he was in hospital. Can anyone with proof please come forward????

    ReplyDelete
  29. This is stupid. Mike's appendix burst and has been in the hospital for a couple of weeks and can not step on a court for a few more weeks. He was not at Brookhaven and neither was I. We don't agree with the suspensions, but we will follow them. stop trying to create drama where there is none.

  30. if you wasnt there why were there 2 cars in parking lot side by side. One with the license plate "SP MXD" and the other with the plate "TANKER". Explain that.

    ReplyDelete
  31. I think the DTA made it burst. They put something in his water at the appeal hearing like sodium chloride or calcium hypcrite. On a serious note IF that is true , he aint back in a few weeks I can guarantee u that. That is a serious issue.

  32. KELLY had qualified for a national event 8 out of the last 10 years whether it be trilevel, mens, mixed 8.0 or 9.0. i dont like SP but the only way to beat them is dq them. Can u imagine if kyle, gene, mike, mary and daneille had of played??? Greenhill won one full set total yesterday and escaped w a win against a team that fielded two lines and were without 5 starters.wow.

    ReplyDelete
  33. You might want to tap the brakes on Kelley not going to nationals again. Not sure if he will be healthy but he put his FW mixed team on his back and will be eligible for yet another national event in November. Damn, he has skipped more national events than I can even get to.

  34. Actually his ft worth team will get the 40+ wildcard because Dallas can't go. He was banned from Dallas league. He can go with ft worth and yes they will take him. He will play for them next year.
