My Current Thoughts on This Blog

I know the weather has kinda sucked.  Actually, it has really sucked.  As a result, we have little to report.  Yet, we used to have some meaningful dialogue or at least a lot of screaming or Kelly talk.

If you guys are ready for the blog t go D.O.A., go ahead and comment about that.

Regardless, when more scores post over the last few weeks, I will write something.

83 comments:

  1. I think it will be more active once weather turns around and spring league starts. There are some interesting things to talk about once flights are done.

  2. Hard to bash Kelley when he not playing men's. Here's hoping he plays spring so the abuse can fire up! Nothing of note now except that he is absoluting annihilating the field in mixed.

  3. Looks like you are quitting.

  4. I read this forum to see what people say. I think some people take a basic comment and blow it out of proportion, you know who you are, you ...make it sound like it's law and take things too personal. Some major crybabies posting on here.

I think the forum needs to be updated. Let everyone or anyone post their own thread or CREATE their topic instead of just a few. Then you get people who only want to talk 4.5 or 3.5 or 4.0 talk about it.
I dont mind the bashing, its very comical at times and i would vote to update this blog more.

  5. No offense to Murray but the blog died a long time ago. The mindless trash talking of anyone and everyone from anonymous people is not entertaining. Wish we could go back to actually talking about tennis, players, teams, etc.

  6. C'mon Core Dawg you know writing about that crap is B-O-R-I-N-G. That is what a few people expect to read on this site. They really like it when then they tune in and get the facts plus a lot more of the B.S. I've kept count of the numbers and have it to back it up. The facts is needless but people read it and keep coming back for the B.S. I'd rather read trash talk from people who can't back it up. As far as Pinkston Langsome, he has done a great job but that other red snapper keeps writing about the kelli guy like he has a man crush on him. I tied to tell him a year year ago that he was effing it up for all all of us but he insisted. Ask the M.K. freak where is he going to get his rocks off now? What a D.A. Even I know when I've gone too far and that is pretty often but it bring in viewers.

  7. Since we are talking about mixed all the time, I want to draw a parallel between playing on a mixed team and a last place men's team. It my observation that there is not much difference except the mixed ladies are quite a bit less bitchy and catty.

  8. IMHO the blog got really messed up when Mac Kameltoeski decided he would run back ground checks on everyone that checked in here cause that is what he does for a living in the court system. If people would not recognize him as a great 3.0 singles player while being rated a 4.0 then he would slam everyone. Dude, you are a good 3.5 singles player, and that is all, but I would not want to take you on my team to 3.5 Nationals because you can not get a team out of a 3.5 Q.T. in Dallas. Just food for thought since Murray has put in the effort. Murray, I have seen you play and can not believe you are are still a 4.0 guy. I thought you would have been bumped by now?

    ReplyDelete
  9. Sounds like Murry needs a hug from someone at CC, BH, or TBM. Ummm, that is too creepy.

  10. I actually rather enjoy this blog, and I am sure others do as well. It is modertely interesting and the comments are usually entertaining. The one thing I think it needs is more content that is not specifically related to weekly scores. For example, it might be pretty interesting and funny to have a weekly blog post which is something like "the trials and tribulations of a mediocre 4.0 player". For the open forum suggestion, you will have to go elsewhere since blogspot is specifically for blogs and not forums.

  11. ho hum..Alan A. wins yet another Dallas 8.0 mixed league....

  12. And eats 30 hot dogs in one sitting to celebrate.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Alan seems to be branching out. Now that has managed his rating to 4.0, he has joined his Springpark 4.0 men's team to make a run at cities, and is even playing and captaining a 7.0 40 & over team to a dominating season.
Springpark should be very proud of it's tennis director's successes in both 4.0, and 7.0 mixed.

    ReplyDelete
  14. 40's 4.0 Flight A Fretz is likely in with the winner of Greenhill - Mckinney 2nd
Flight B Spring Park is in and Greenhill's magic number is 2 against Mckinney
Playoffs - Fret is the deepest and SP is the oldest. Other than that, not sure about anything.

  15. Ouch. Someone seems a little butthurt. Let's get some actual facts about the comments above. I am a 4.0. I didn't manage scores to do so. I played with 4.0's at 4.5 and we lost our matches. I think I only played 1 match with another 4.5. I have only played 1 7.0 match because our team was going to have to default if I didn't play. My 7.0 team doesn't need me to win. They are good enough without me. And I can't eat 30 hot dogs in 1 sitting. It would take me at least 2. In fact I had a nice pork tenderloin with quinoa and black beans. But, it was not in celebration. We don't celebrate unless we win nationals. We aren't happy with a city or sectional championships.

And I hope SpringPark is proud of me. Not for winning anything, but for our club having a thriving membership and none of the drama that seems to happen at other clubs.

    Have a great day,
    Alan

    1. Alan is correct. He is no better than a 4.0.
It's the rest of the tankers out at SP that are ridiculous.

      Delete
    2. how in the world can you say SP is tanking??? Kelley has played SIX matches and lost Eight games total. EIGHT! He also has dominated FW 8.0 mixed as well putting them in the playoffs too. I though tanking was making matches close. get the facts straight.

      Delete
    3. Tanking implies they have managed their results to get to their current inaccurate ratings. I think they know this is the last hurrah at 8.0 with Kelly. That means they have no reason to manage anything this season and the results are truly indicative of their level. Don't tell me what the computer says, come back on and honestly try to say they are playing at the correct level.

      Delete
    4. well, you are drinking the juice just like the DTA and those captains that unjustly petitioned him out. His manual bump up was overturned and properly put back to 4.5 last year. his results warrant it so yes he is at correct level. even a blogger posted (March 16 @ 4:04) " he could not compete at 9.0 and only top players play 9.0 bec 8.0 is for recreational and seniors". He will be 50 and plays for recreation. You cant win both sides of your argument.

    5. to 6:14

I get your point somewhat but unless you are a mixed player in Dallas or FW why in the heck do you care what he does??? He hasn't played a serious mens match since 2010 when 4.5 team went to nationals and has since played a few meaningless matches for Sisk. When he plays mens people complain and when he doesnt people complain. Not sure what you want. everyone on this blog seems to think mixed is so easy and a joke but yet they get hot and bothered as this guy continues to annihilate everyone. Makes absolutely no sense.

      Delete
  16. As a casual observer i could see why the country clubs could be bothered again and again by getting beat by Alan and SP year after year. On the other hand, when some of your better players (who would still get annihilated) continue to avoid playing SP in big matches I don't feel too sorry for yet another beat down. Good luck at Nationals, again.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. The better players (and pros) from those clubs simply don't play 8.0 (or 7.0) mixed. They do go to nationals at 9.0 though, where the SP teams would be playing (and losing) if they didn't tank their ratings.

      Delete
  17. Yep, just like the 9.0 team at Brookhaven that couldnt even win a two team league. Btw, their 9.0 team wouldn't beat Alan's 8.0 team

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Brookhaven 9.0 team went to nationals in 2014. That was the year Kelly didn't play for Alan at 40+ and the leftovers couldn't even make a 3 team city playoff. Kelly did play for the 18+ team but they couldn't make it out of their flight in sectionals.

      Delete
    2. add up all the nationals TOGETHER local teams have gone to and Springpark still has been there more times. Heck, they have even skipped one. I don't like SP but there is no one that even comes close to their dominance. As Alan said, they are not happy unless they win nationals. Pretty damn good bar they have set.

      Delete
    3. Bob Bender has been to more than all Springpark teams.

      Delete
    4. SP been 9 times, Kelley been to 12 national events counting Tri level, mens and mixed. Pretty darn good. Hate on SP and hate on Mike but they are headed back to sectionals and most likely nationals yet again.

      Delete
    5. Of course they are...the point is that if they were playing 9.0 (which is what they would have to play if they didn't tank) they'd be losing to Brookhaven and going nowhere.

90% of 8.0 players are either weekend only recreational players or seniors and most are both. There is a reason the best players at the top clubs don't play 8.0 and it's not to avoid anybody from SP. The level of tennis is simply not interesting to them.

      Delete
    6. Sure you aren't talking about 7.0?

      Delete
    7. You would be dead wrong. SP would be winning 9.0 as well. Kelly playing w a 4.5 and you think somebody from hookhaven would beat him? They don't even have a 9.0 team that could beat he and his 3.5 partner now.

      Delete
    8. to 4:04
That's funny. Brookhaven played 40 and over this year and couldn't even win a 2 team league. Great for blog posting but while decent they couldn't compete w an SP 9.0 squad. Don't think you realize how solid that SP squad is.

      Delete
    9. Not sure I would be singing Crookhavens praises when they just performed a trifecta losing at 7.0, 8.0 and 9.0 mixed this year. Pretty hard to do but they accomplished it. oh well, losing is contagious.

      Delete
    10. What you're missing is that Kelly would never be available to play 9.0 - he's driving back and forth between Dallas and Fort Worth on Sundays to beat up on 8.0 teams.

If SP could win at 9.0 they would. Gene and Kelly would be a good start, but finding ringer ladies at 4.5 is not easy - especially ones that are willing to play with Kelly given the reputation he's earned over the years. Much easier to find 4.0 caliber ladies, show them how to obtain 3.5 ratings and then ride them until nationals is made.

      Delete
    11. Wrong again. Last time Gene and Kelly played 9.0 they went to nationals. Next.

      Delete
    12. To 8:44

I totally disagree. If SP played 9,0 they would win cities as well. Gene as solid as they get and Kelley w a 4.5 would not be beaten by ANY 9.0 combo Dallas has. As stated earlier, I think Kelly and his partner now beat 95 percent of 9.0's now

      Delete
    13. Funny people are now talkin about what Kelley can't win. Classic. Coming from someone who has never won anything most likely.

      Delete
    14. well he cant win 10.0! can he?

      Delete
    15. Actually, the last time Gene and Kelly played 9.0 they finished 2-4 and in fourth place in Dallas. It's not surprising that neither has played 9.0 since.

They've had some success in the distant past, even when Kelly was rated a 5.0 - which also isn't surprising as everyone knows that his 4.5 rating is a joke.

The problem SP has with 9.0 now, as I said, is finding good 4.5 ladies willing to play with Kelly. They aren't going to be dazzled with shiny 8.0 trophies and drills led by a 4.0 instructor.

That and, as anyone who has been around long enough to remember Kelly as a 5.0 can attest, how he self destructs when he's not the best player on the court. He's a very solid 5.0 player, but there are better 5.0 players in Dallas.

  18. The shit talking and bashing is what makes the blog. The shit talking about one guy all the time is what is killing the blog. The poster who is obsessed with Mike Kelly obviously loves this blog otherwise he wouldn't be posting 75% of the posts. He is the one killing this blog. I am not sure what he is trying to accomplish, but everyone gets it. Everyone knows what Mike does and you don't have to remind us every day or every time a new thread is created. 3. Haha I already said we have no shot. We will probably just default all five lines if we are ever fortunate enough to play them. It's going to be miraculous how so many of the guys have relearned how to play after getting killed in 4.5 last season.

  27. whats even funnier are idiots posting kelly wouldnt get to a national event at 9.0 when he already has done that. then to make them look even more ridiculous is that he did it playing with a 4.0. Didnt even need a 4.5 to get there. Guess the next thing the haters will say is "well he will never win a slam" playing mixed. Hating on him fine but know what you are posting before you say he couldnt win at 9.0. Been there, done that.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Check his last 9.0 result - a 1 & 2 loss and hasn't been back since. 9.0 is not the same as it was 8 years ago...and neither is Kelly.

      Delete
  28. That's logical, say he is a legit 4.5 and then brag about how last time he and Gene played 9.0 they went to 9.0 nationals.

    ReplyDelete
  29. C'mon - sick of all the mixed talk and Kelly & Alan talk.

My thoughts -- yes, it is impressive to go win Nats - once -at a given level. But then advance to a higher level where you should be. To play the game where you get bumped, tank to get back down, and then go win at a level below where you should be is nothing to be patting yourself on the back about.

My guess is Kelly and Alan were one of those kids whose parents held them back a year in school. So when they were in 8th grade and the rest of the kids were 12 & 13 barely reaching puberty, they were 14 going on 15 beating up on everyone. Yeah -- real impressive.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Alan's 8.0 team has not a dropped a single line. Now that is dominant. His 7.0 team has only dropped 2 lines. WOW!!!

  38. WTF in 40s 4.5. Springpark defaults line 3 doubles to tank the match and lose 3-2 to LB Houston. They have 15 guys on their team that would have won that match. Hard to imagine they couldn't get 2 guys to play. By tanking the match for Springpark's first lost of the season LB Houston gets second playoff spot. If match is played LB Houston misses the playoffs because they were behind in matches won for tiebreaker.

I don't talk to Mark about the 4.5 team. So don't blame me for this one. And I am a good sport. Ask anyone I've played this year.
