Mid-season ratings are interesting to a few people but a lot of these mid-season bump ups will be back down after they get beat this weekend. How about a new thread on city playoff predictions. Much more interesting.
Here are some names that stick out. Bob Somabut back down to 4.0 and High Point rejoices. Other bump downs Someabut disciple Blake Bearden back to 4.0 Chad Carlquist back to 4.0 Michal "I have my own court" Getz back to 3.5 Chris Jones back to 4.0 Mark Kargel back to 4.0 Jerry Palacioz back to 4.0 Tom Peterson back to 4.0
Bump ups Mr Lifetime Shawn Arcria back up to 4.5 again Michael Glascow to 4.5 Minchul Ho to 4.5 Leonard Huchinson to 4.5 TQ to 4.5 Craig Weymer to 4.5
That is what I have at first blush, I hope to take a deeper look later.
Just to add to Klamecki's overview, worst tankers award Bob Bender back to 3.5,Keith Clark back to 4.0, Joseph Hevey back to 3.5, Jean Nguyen back down to 4.5, Ferdinand Schoen back to 4.0
Some of the worst bump ups, Capt. Fantastic to 4.0, Mo Mahmoud to 4.0,
I don't know all of those players but the ones I do look like they are at there correct level. Maybe you are a little too high if you think they are too low.
why would Flora tank Spring.....you don't think he and Sisk wanted to get to cities and beyond this year? not like he's going back to 3.5, looks more like if team match is already won/lost, then he throws in the towel
Flora where he should be at 4.0, Keith Clark at proper level, Jean Nguyen a good player but at 4.5 where he should be, Harvey at his level, Kelly should be ashamed to not get bumped up
Put me in the camp that these are not blatant abuses.
Don't know Mahmoud or Hevey and Capt Fan has been a 3.5 for a long time so nothing wrong with a move up. Bender is at best an average 3.5 and a little better at super seniors.
Keith Clark is a real solid 4.0 and never should be 4.5. Jean Nguyen is a real solid 4.5 and never should have been a 5.0
Kelly should be 5.0 but only the mixed players should be mad. Everyone is overly concerned with Mike.
Yep, the guys he destroyed at nationals and in 40 and over should not be concerned, along w winning combo last year.... He only dominates when he feels like it. I promise you that if he played 5.0 and actually tried to give 100 percent there would be some nervous opponents. Say what you want but he would be dangerous if push came to shove. Mixed is a given, he just flat out dominates that, most of the time before he steps on court.
The point about all these players' ratings is this in my opinion: Should the same players be allowed to dominate the same level year after year after year. It's easy to say some guys are great 4.5s but I don't think the system should allow a guy to make Sectionals 4 out of 5 years, go to Nationals three times, etc. That's where the issue is. That's the easy way to fix the issue. Once you play at Nationals, you're gone for three years. Or something to that effect. But for the same guys to go to Sectionals and Nationals repeatedly is unacceptable. Accept the fact that you didn't win the first time and move on.
Please. If he gets to 4.0, he will play for Sisk in men's and Abbruzzese in mixed. Unless Pickett comes down to 4.0. The one good thing you can say about the guy is he is loyal.
He will always play mixed for SP and as long as he does they will win it every year. No doubt loyal to Pickett and Alan and could play on any team he wanted. He wins wherever he plays and will be smart enough to stay 4.5. Frankly I think the guy would dominate in 5.0 if he really tried. Scary thing is he is quietly playin outside of leagues and he is getting better.....
He plays what he wants when he wants. What's wrong with that? And you don't have to wonder what he could do at tri-level. He won a national title a few months ago going 6-0 at Indian Wells. That's a hell of a team mate.
A real teammate would play on a legit 4.5 team and try to win rather than dabble around playing TCD and mixed or trilevel. Winning nationals in mixed and trilevel a joke.... Bet he couldn't do it in men's! Great teammates play all events, not just when it is convenient or whatever he wants!!!!
Agreed, he is one of the better players in Dallas and he is not even in the playoffs bec he doesn't take it serious??!!!... Yeah right, some teammate. He could have helped Dallas win but was too selfish to play.
I would love to see big John and muscled up Pickett fight over him at 4.0.. Something tells me Le might be in the mix too, and Freeman... And every other 4.0 captain in the galaxy
A few more bumps that might be viewed as interesting:
Seth Baker out of Garland - up to 4.5 Atul Rajani (also Garland) - up to 4.5 Brett Femrite (also also Garland, but only recently) - up to 4.5 Jim Walters (Springpark) - back up to 4.5 Gillaume Boccara - up to 4.5 David Dawson - up to 4.5 (really?) Robert McHugh - up to 4.5 Tim Newman - up to 4.5 Ryan Pace (Garland) - up to 4.5 Matt Spellman - up to 4.5 Mike Zackary - down to 4.0'
A bunch of poor fellows got moved up to 5.0 - Durten, LaSelle, Kiron, Feldman (Todd), Howard, Miles, Oberg, welwood, etc.
Its people like you 10:24 that enable him to keep tanking and you keep riding his coat tails to nationals. Why dont you practice a little more and you wont need to keep sniffing on M. Kelly's jock!
Oh, so sorry, guess I should ask him to leave the team so I don't ride his coat tails .... That is an idiotic statement. Next time I will get on another team like you are on and stay in Dallas instead of trying to win a national title.. MY BAD!
Kelly is throwing out the first pitch tomorrow night at the Rangers game, so you might want to get your tickets early. If he does well, the Rangers may sign him to a minor league contract and assign him to their Double A team in Frisco. Who knows, MK may be a late season call-up if the Rangers need some experienced arms for the bullpen during the stretch run.
If they sign him he will throw 70 moh right down the middle so he can get moved down to the minors, he will then tank there to get to little league and then t ball.. Lol
Rangers will pack the house if they give away the Kelly bobblehead doll and action figure.
Is there any benefit generated from the early season league ratings?
The only clear result is the much-discussed decline in the quality of play of certain bumped-up players in the fall league. The mid-season rating is not applicable to remaining leagues (other than the 18 and over fall league) or tournaments played during the remainder of 2013. The disqualification process is in place to catch players that self rated incorrectly since the end of the year rating.
Even without the early season ratings, I know players will give less than 100% in the fall league because of the lack of play-offs. But it just seems like these mid-year numbers produce a bunch of unnecessary drama every year just before the city championships.
Lol.... Just saw Kelley hitting at Four Seasons w one of the players from World Team tennis, he was moving gingerly but hitting the ball pretty darn good
That just goes to show you no matter what you cannot continue to dominate or just "turn it on" whenever you need a win. Very difficult even if playing out of level, too many things can happen. CONGRATS to Mcskinney!
Le is at it again! He "loses" to McKinney to get the coveted wildcard spot. Does he even know how to play straight up???? So lame! Wouldn't it be funny if he doesn't get the wildcard!!!!
Nothing coveted about two days at lb houston with early starts and freeman in the semis if you get out go flight 4. If they were tanking Noeh and Stephen would have played
Maybe your right but if you compare their lineup to qt, it wasnt even close to as strong. Fogiel on line 1? Sudarshan at singles instead of Yeh? Who knows, just wouldnt put it past him to have some underhanded strategy.
Mid-season ratings are interesting to a few people but a lot of these mid-season bump ups will be back down after they get beat this weekend. How about a new thread on city playoff predictions. Much more interesting.
ReplyDeleteThis ^^^ Hey Capt Fantasy, we could use one for 4.0 and Rossouw we could use one for 4.5.
Deletesorry, too close to the action.... maybe Corey can do it?
DeleteSorry two teams in DCC so trying to focus on them.
DeleteHere are some names that stick out.
ReplyDeleteBob Somabut back down to 4.0 and High Point rejoices.

Leonard Huchinson to 4.5

Craig Weymer to 4.5
That is what I have at first blush,
I hope to take a deeper look later.
Wonder why LB Houston courts get so much playoff action.....better than playing at High Point I guess.
ReplyDeleteThe DTA hates the players? I guess they could send them to Garland.
DeletePretty simple. Money. LBH is crap and the court fees are really cheap. No shade. No ice. Barely any water. Worst courts in the metroplex.
DeleteThey also have the rudest staff in all DFW
DeleteDon't forget you must spend at least $25 to pay with a card. I can't wait to play 5.0 playoffs there. What we worked for all season.
ReplyDeleteDon't worry, they may move it to Kiest.
DeleteWhat you worked for all year and couldn't even get a full 3 lines to play ..... Way to go
DeleteAny predictions on best singles and/or doubles match-ups during playoffs?
ReplyDeleteI kind of like the courts at High Point now that they have all been redone.
ReplyDeleteJust to add to Klamecki's overview, worst tankers award Bob Bender back to 3.5,Keith Clark back to 4.0, Joseph Hevey back to 3.5, Jean Nguyen back down to 4.5, Ferdinand Schoen back to 4.0

What happend to M. Kelly and Glen Flora?
I don't know all of those players but the ones I do look like they are at there correct level. Maybe you are a little too high if you think they are too low.
DeleteBoth spent the spring still tanking
DeleteI would nominate Daniel Yeh and Shreyas Sudarshan. They were pretty average and then open a can of whup ass at city playoffs.
DeleteI'd wait until they play Freeman's boys before I'd nominate them for anything. They haven't had to run into any stiff competition yet.
Deletewhy would Flora tank Spring.....you don't think he and Sisk wanted to get to cities and beyond this year? not like he's going back to 3.5, looks more like if team match is already won/lost, then he throws in the towel
DeleteBingo.
DeleteFlora is where he should be, Kelly should be banned from playing 4.5. The small group of guys that got moved to 5.0 got screwed by the computer.
DeleteYeah, everyone on that list is exactly where they belong except for Kelly. At that Kelly's myth is bigger than his actual game.
DeleteFlora where he should be at 4.0, Keith Clark at proper level, Jean Nguyen a good player but at 4.5 where he should be, Harvey at his level, Kelly should be ashamed to not get bumped up

DeleteMy player Ferdinand tanking? He just had twins and basically doesn't play tennis. Good try though.
DeleteHe did or his wife did?
DeleteThose Germans can do crazy things.

DeleteKelley stayed 4.5. He will never be a 5.0 again. I beat he gets to 4.0 by 2014.
ReplyDeleteTrue, he will stay at 4.5.... He will manage scores and keep from getting bumped....frankly 5,0 would be boring for him
DeleteIf Kelly gets to 4.0, I will be asking for him on my team
ReplyDeleteGet in line
DeleteThat freakin line would start in Houston... The guys there would buy him a house to play for them!

That 5.0 list above wouldn't win the 4.5 league... Lol
ReplyDeleteyeh those 5.0's suck
ReplyDeleteI hope Kelly keeps suckin and y'all keep bashing him. He helped get my mixed team to 40 and over mixed nationals in Hawaii this year. Thanks Mike!
ReplyDeleteIts people like you 10:24 that enable him to keep tanking and you keep riding his coat tails to nationals. Why dont you practice a little more and you wont need to keep sniffing on M. Kelly's jock!

ReplyDeleteDo you guys realize how creepy it is to stalk a grown man?
DeleteNot stalking anyone you moron, I am a member there and my kids were participating in a camp... Grow up!
ReplyDeleteYeah, but when you have to report it here its stalking
DeleteLooks like HP and Eldorado won tonight
ReplyDeletewho won today's 10am matches?
ReplyDeleteAs expected HP won. It was closer than we thought.
Deletehp v. mckinney in the morning for the championship.
ReplyDeleteFun weekend, glad to represent Dallas this year!!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations. Your team did well. Good luck at sectionals.
DeleteNo Sisk , no Le going to sectionals????!!!! I thought tanking guaranteed you a spot to nationals in every league you play??!!!
ReplyDeletePretty sure Le will get a wildcard.
DeleteThat just goes to show you no matter what you cannot continue to dominate or just "turn it on" whenever you need a win. Very difficult even if playing out of level, too many things can happen. CONGRATS to Mcskinney!
ReplyDeleteOnly if ur name is Kelley... Lol
DeleteCongrats to both Bazan and Le for making sectionals, maybe one of your teams can get past houston and go all the way!
ReplyDeleteLe is at it again! He "loses" to McKinney to get the coveted wildcard spot. Does he even know how to play straight up???? So lame! Wouldn't it be funny if he doesn't get the wildcard!!!!

DeleteWhat about Teterud?
Deletewhat!?
Deletewonder why the scores not posted on online yet?
ReplyDeleteKnowing the DTA they don't know how to enter a Flight A v Flight B winner score.
DeleteTou can duck and dodge, but at some point, you will have to beat somebody! Congrats to Cary for winning city at 4.0 and Le winning 4.5!! Go Big D!
ReplyDeleteYeh wasn't available. Weymer to singles. Who you gonna play? Looks like they played the best they had.
ReplyDeleteLook at Le taking both his 4.0 & 4.5 to sectionals
ReplyDelete
