4.0 Playoffs One Week Away (Cotton Bowl deadline Dec. 14th)

If we had TV Ratings for league tennis the news this week would have further diminished the buzz for this weekend with no Bob and no Eddie already.

I will attempt to create some excitement on what might go down this weekend. The bottom line is 3 of the 8 teams have no chance of retaining 70% of their players and earning a wild card including the two big favorites (OC and Garland).

Red Flight Breakdown:

Lakes (25 to 1)
This is a good team but they are in a flight with two great teams. Fankhauser is undefeated this season and gone to 4.5 but not sure he will remain undefeated and that will be the difference in some close losses for this team. Now if Fankhauser turns it up and wins then their fortunes may change. Fix, Richardson, Balan and Sinclair can scratch out some wins as well so this team is a dangerous underdog.

Brookhaven/Burt (20 to 1)
I think Burt put it best when he told me about this team, they would do well in the regular season but when they played the 4.5'ers in the playoffs they would struggle. Luckily he has a couple of his own in Ludwig, Rivera and Stein. These three are very tough but they will need to go undefeated against some stiff competition this weekend because there is a drop off in talent level after that although Burt and John played pretty well last time I saw them (and lost to them). I think I would have liked this team in the other flight to contend but they just don't quite stack up against OC and Garland.

OC (Pick'em) and Garland (Pick'em)
I have stared at these names for a while now and I don't see any huge difference and really it will depend on John and Don to set the lineups right to earn a close win and they play each other on opening night (BRRRRR) so this flight may be decided early. I like OC doubles a little more but I have not seen Tran or Guzman play so not sure they can overtake any of the Garland singles players. If I was forced to pick, I would go for OC 10-8 in the 3rd set TB.

Blue Flight Breakdown
Three of the four teams here actually have a shot at the wild card as they return the bulk of their players although that kind of speaks to why Greenhill has to be the favorite here.

Village (30 to 1)
With only Fred Givhan as a big gun here and bump to 4.5 I think it will be hard for them to scratch out wins here, although I did learn the hard way you have to bring your best against this team but I just don't like their doubles matchups in this flight.

JCC (10 to 1)
I like this team but not enough to put them at the top. I think Lieberman, Drazner and Elovitz will have to play every match and win all their matches to get them in the mix and that is tough to ask for anyone. I think their lack of depth will hurt them since their doubles drops off after line 1 and in the playoffs you need to have a chance to win all 5 lines.

Brookhaven/Brad (5 to 1)
I am not sure what to think about this team but Chris Ellis has changed their chances for fair to strong. If he and Don Buford can play strong along with Helterbrann/Mattes this team will be tough to beat all weekend long. Moore/Smith had a strong run this season and with depth like that I think this team might just be the favorite in this flight.

Greenhill (2 to 1)
So close to being eligible to return as a wild card but not quite but on paper they should be a favorite in this flight. They have not been dominate but vets like Russouw, Odell, Wildberger, Sweeney, Carlquist and Nguyen they might just be too tough at doubles. The trick for this team is singles. Oleg and Chris Bergeron will need to step up and win some matches or they may not make it out of flight play.

Finals: OC wins 4-1 over Greenhill

Tourney note: The registration deadline for the 200 pt. Cotton Bowl is coming up on December 14th. I have cleared my schedule and I will see you all there.

  1. Garland clearly has the best team and will win the fall playoffs w/o much problem. They are better in singles and better in doubles than any of the other teams.

An important change is taking place here that apparently not all of you dumb asses realize. Bob Somabut is passing the crown to John Sisk who will not only win the fall but also dominate level 4.0 in the spring and beyond.

    Go GTC!

    ReplyDelete
  2. Sisk and Somabut have similar credentials as captains. Sisk has had success at different levels but Somabut has advanced to sectionals more frequently. Both are good.

    ReplyDelete
  3. Give me a break! Cheating and getting away with it does not make a captain good. Somabut has probably had more players DQ'd than any other captain in Dallas OR had assholes like Weymer and Featherstone who HE KNEW was playing down. If the USTA, Texas or DTA wants to encourage league participation they should start by kicking these guys to the curb. Much better than punishing the rest of us for their sins.

  4. Food for thought:

"The team that wins next weekend won't necessarily be the best one on paper, but will be the one that plays the hardest and the smartest."

  5. Get your facts straight a**hole. Bob has never had a player DQ'd. A couple of years ago he found out one of his players played at a D1 school , and called the usta himself to report it. He has always played within the rules. There isn't a captain in Dallas that wouldn't have let Weymer play on their team. Everyone is just jealous of his success.

    ReplyDelete
  6. Bender would not have let him play.

    ReplyDelete
  7. Adam Blumberg and Phy Pham come to mind. Plus, new 5.0 Weymer and plenty of others that were out of level. There is a pattern and the DTA should do something about it.

    ReplyDelete
  8. IT'S REALLY LOW CLASS TO CALL SUCCESSFUL CAPTAINS & TEAMS CHEATERS. THAT'S JUST PATHETIC PEOPLE CRYING IN THEIR BEER.

    ReplyDelete
  9. Success and cheating sometimes goes hand in hand. Also, take off your caps lock.

    ReplyDelete
  10. i'd like to see the USTA league officials start taking unannounced urine samples at the sectionals and nationals to check for performance enhancement drugs

  11. Much like the Tiger Woods story, we were all blinded, but the truth has come out. Fraser's cosmetic knee surgery was in fact surgery to remove one testicle which was atrophied due to tightness in the shorts. The other was at risk due to over-exposure, but the shrinkage due to the cold weather may have saved it. Now he has medical appeal potential for life.

    ReplyDelete
  12. I have nothing but admiration for a man that has the balls to play tennis with one testicle.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Mr. uni - testicle is kicking ass on the courts these days. Watch out in the playoffs for him and the other remaining testicle.

  14. You are right knucklehead. You don't need me. You need an anger management class. I did not say everyone that is successful cheats, but you have to have your head in the sand if you think it does not occur.

  15. Yes, everyone that beats me is a cheater. Anyone better than me is out of level.

    Whine, cry, whine, cry . . .

  16. Asian team good looking award (Top 10 rating list)

    1) Bin Nguyen (he's so hot right now...off to 4.5 land)
    2) Phy Pham (new 5.0 bump up...plus it's just cool to say that name)
    3) Ken Ratana (he's just too pretty)
    4) Jean Nguyen (he's working the new long hair Hollywood style)
    5) Kevin Ho (Even a good old Garland boy can look good)
    6) Vin Tran (Working the hair gel and shades...sharp dressed man)
    7) Bob Somabut (Nationals always makes you look hotter...plus the older ladies like a winner)
    8) Hai Nguyen (New slicker frame with the weight loss / plus a nice forehand volley is hot)
    9) Son Do (undefeated season is very attractive)
    10) Tuan Quach (He'll hook you on calls but his pushing game gets wins...that's hot)

    ReplyDelete
  17. Honorable Mention

Takashi Nishizaki (Got Lefty Skillz) Arguably the best of the hot tennis playing Asians.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Isn't Kevin related to Wang Ho?

    ReplyDelete
  19. That list could have saved space by just stating the HP 4.5 team. They have all the asians!

    ReplyDelete
  20. its actually a cosmetic testical surgery. he has two, but had to lighten one up.

    ReplyDelete
  21. that makes you a xenophobe

    ReplyDelete
  22. Phy Pham and Jean Nguyen would school Takashi. Try playing tennis away from Lifetime and you might actually see better tennis.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Generally speaking, Asians are more disciplined and smarter people, which translates into excellence on the tennis courts.

    ReplyDelete
  24. I hear Fraser has an Asian counterpart on the Highpoint Team that goes by Wan Bum Bol.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Yo, to da poster parafrasin da late great Vinie Lombardi, he was da coach of da redskins in 1969.

    dogface

    ReplyDelete
  26. Yes, Garland does have a very strong team because they have the most sandbaggers!

    ReplyDelete
  27. I don't think Garland will even loose a set next weekend.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Who on Garland is sandbagging? They are all within level

    ReplyDelete
  29. GTC has no sandbaggers. Just very strong players.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Hai and Jean Nugyen are the only High Point 4.5's on the list. Others are from around the league. Takashi was honorable mention. Komson arguably should have been on the list as well. He's hot right now too.

    ReplyDelete
  31. PHY COULD BEAT TAKASHI BUT JEAN DOESN'T HAVE THE FIREPOWER IN DOUBLES

    ReplyDelete
  32. Are there any Asian tennis players that aren't hot? I can barely focus when I'm playing against them because I'm blinded by their good looks. That is going to be our toughest obstacle when we play them in the playoffs. I have told all my team to wear sunglasses for the 8 a.m. match.

    ReplyDelete
  33. That does it and it's official, Corey is a homo.

    ReplyDelete
  34. why do you care? are you interested?

    ReplyDelete
  35. Hilarious guys! Lol! That got me rolling. I've decided that at least one person that is blogging about me plays on my Greenhill team (nice huh). No one else would know how I'm playing. I can tell you after yesterday that at least 3 guys on my team are playing better than I am. Can't wait to show off my new shortest shorts and results from the testicle surgery this weekend. Go Greenhill!!

    ReplyDelete
  36. Come on Fraser - get ur testicles out of a wad. Its not like they even called u anything bad. Its all just sophormic humor. Harmless.

    ReplyDelete
  37. No I really thought it was funny. Not sarcasm. There is someone on our Greenhill team blogging anon though. I'll figure out who it is soon.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Good luck this weekend Uni-Nut!!

    ReplyDelete
  39. Looks like 7 out of 8 teams have captains for upper Tri Level.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Let's see if the Garland guys get the final spot.

    ReplyDelete
  41. I wouldn't count on it. I didn't do one because I lost my 3.5 and 4.0 connections with all of John's players getting moved up.

    ReplyDelete
  42. you playing Jerry?

    ReplyDelete
  43. Lets see if any of these captains are capable of pulling in talent at each level. Of course, there is no talent left at 3.5 or 4.0 so I would think whoever can find the best 3.5 line will advance to sectionals.

    My $ is on Bender.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Bender will be in good shape. He will have the best 3.5 lines.

    ReplyDelete
  45. How can you go to the USTA site and find out who has got a tri level team signed up so far?

    ReplyDelete
  46. I dont think the 3.0 bump ups will be too tough at 3.5. But level 3.5 simply does not have any decent players remaining. So almost anyone 3.5 you get for your trilevel team may be just as good as anyone else.

  49. "So almost anyone 3.5 you get for your trilevel team may be just as good as anyone else."

How that makes any sense to you is beyond me. Just because the top 30% got bumped to 4.0 doesn't mean the remaining 70% are equally bad. Not every 3.5 team is going to have an equal chance of making the playoffs this Spring!

    ReplyDelete
  50. Captains for 4.5,4.0, 3.5 and current roster

    Don Smith
    Brian Morrison
    Cary Bazan
    Bob Bender
    3.5 Robert C. Bender
    3.5 Paul To
    3.5 Steven T. Nguyen
    4.5 Chris W. Slezak
    Todd Feldman
    4 Keith Clark
    Shawn Arcaria
    4 Shawn Arcaria
    Bob Somabut
    ?????

    ReplyDelete
  51. Bender will flex his muscle in tri-level. 3.5s are easy for him and there are plenty of high quality 4.5s out there. Can he find a solid 4.0 line?

    ReplyDelete
  52. http://tennislink.usta.com/leagues/reports/TennisLinkReports.asp?Level=L&LeagueID=21920&CYear=2010&dr=rptTeamStandings

    ReplyDelete
  53. You are right, some are just horribly bad vs grotesquely bad. When Kim Anderson gets bumped up, you know 3.5 has GOT to be bad.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Anderson is as good as any of the bump-ups!

    ReplyDelete
  55. Bender already has Slezak and I would guess SLezak will bring some pretty good players with him Kiron?

    ReplyDelete
  56. Garland has a heightened sense of self this fall season because they had an easy flight. Their record shows that they have a good team but also that they had no competition. Oak Creek will beat them 4 - 1.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Bender is the man!!! Although he doesn't get the press, he is clearly the most decorated captain in Dallas, probably Texas.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Niether Bender or Somabut will win Tri-Level. Fort Worth has the best 3.5 and 4.0s.

    ReplyDelete
  59. agree. dallas 3.5 was hit much harder than other cities in texas and 4.0 was hit harder as well. look for either houston or ftw to win trilevel.

    ReplyDelete
  60. No cities got hit any harder than any other. All cities will be creative with 3.5s and 4.0s.

    ReplyDelete
  61. decorated with what? I just threw up in my cereal.

He is now decorated with a ribbon that says, I "bended" the rules so far they USTA decided to move everyone up a level so I would stop playing 3.0.

My guess is he will lose at 3.5 by a close margin at sectionals and decide he wants to go back to 3.0 so watch for some massive tanking next fall.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Since this is now the 3.5 blog, GTC has show it can't win a singles match so they won't win the fall. They have good doubles but not good enough to sweep them.

    ReplyDelete
  63. i have played for bender and he is a kick ass captain. we played our best every match. poor sports cry & complain and post anon. the "bender observer" is the worst kind of a creep.

all our top captains are targets for this kind of crap incl branch, somabut, sisk, ratcliffe, etc. the more you win the more the assholes whine.

    ReplyDelete
  64. "No cities got hit any harder than any other. All cities will be creative with 3.5s and 4.0s."

Like this asshole knows what he is talking about . . .

If you look at the top teams from FTW, Tyler, San Antonio etc they routinely have more guys coming back at 3.5 and 4.0 than the top Dallas teams. Maybe that's because we had more strong players to begin with. But it is going to be tough on all our Dallas teams this year at Sectionals.

    ReplyDelete
  65. Hey Coredawg, who do you think the top Captains are around Dallas and the state for that matter? Is Bender really one of the best?

    ReplyDelete
  66. Why would you ask Corey? No offense, but he's never even been to sectionals. How would he know who the best captains are across Texas. Branch,, Somabut and Bender know who to pay attention to.

Go look at every team that participated in 3.5 and 4.0 sectionals from each city. They are all bumped up. Dallas was no different than NETX or SETX.

    ReplyDelete
  67. he's probably asking corey because:
    1) This is a blog forum
    2) Although he hasn't made sectionals, he knows alot about Dallas area tennis
    3) He's one of the few who actually uses his name in his posts, so at least you know it is him responding.
    4) If you asked someone else, who knows what type of response you would get, since it is anon.

And yes, this is anon as well :)

    ReplyDelete
  68. If you go by trips to nationals Bender is the king. Somabut would be a close second. I don't think Branch has ever made it out of sectionals, but he does go to sectionals every year. Those are your top 3 with Sisk as an honorable mention.

    ReplyDelete
  69. Wonder how things will change for top league captains in 2010?
    BEST IN 2008/2009
    4.5 Branch
    4.0 Somabut
    3.5 Sisk
    3.0 Bender

    All good guys BTW

    IN 2010
Level 4.5: Branch now level 5.0
Level 4.0: Sisk is challenging Somabut & many believe he will pass Somabut as best 4.0 cap
Level 3.5: Bender moves up with his 2009 3.0 team. Can he win at this level?

    ReplyDelete
  70. Apparently you have to win the Super Bowl to know who the good coaches are in the NFL.

The top captains are pretty obvious at each level.

    3.0--Bender--no competition

3.5--Sisk, Ratcliffe, Kaiser. Consistent playoff appearances including Sectionals for Ed and Nationals for John.

4.0--Somabut above all. Sisk getting better each season. Don Smith has made a name for himself in a short time. Roussow also.

4.5--Oak Creek is always the best. Myself, Feldman, Hai are consistently in playoffs. I've determined I'm the Wade Phillips of captains (great regular season record, no titles). Harllee, Rothwell, and Modic are all solid captains but seem to have more inconsistent results from season to season.

5.0--Not too knowledgeable but I would say Brannon Perkison. He has taken his teams to the playoffs consistently and always has strong players coming in.

As far as around the state I don't know many (since I've never been to Sectionals). I know Red Benzon and Freeman in Houston have successful histories.

    ReplyDelete
  71. to me top captains are ones that have won consistently over a number of years. roussou, smith and ratcliffe have not yet done that. and kaiser seems to be more of a liability depending on who u talk to.

branch, somabut & bender have won consistently over a good number of years. they r top notch. sisk has had 2 very strong years and we look for another exc sisk team in 2010. the other caps have a way to go.

    ReplyDelete
  72. Remember Pearlman and Bartlett. Both of them are consistantly in the playoffs and they can only recruit from the Brookhaven membership..........

    ReplyDelete
  73. Why is that? Non-members cannot be on Brookhaven's team?

    ReplyDelete
  74. It's not really recruiting if they are members.

    ReplyDelete
  75. Yeah, I don't see that as much of a hindrance, especially at the 3.5 and 4.0 levels. You basically have a club handing you new recruits all the time.

    ReplyDelete
  76. No 4.5 playoff thread?
Come on Corey. Northwood all the way!

    ReplyDelete
  77. So can the guys that just got bumped up still play the Cotton Bowl at their old rating? I thought the ratings took affect in 2010. What if you and your partner were signed up before the bump ups happened? Do you get your money back?

    ReplyDelete
  78. You can still play at your old level.

    ReplyDelete
  79. I'm not sure that's correct - I tried to sign up yesterday for singles at my old level and it wasn't an option - only choice is to play 4.5. Looks like the guys that registered before the ratings came out are ok, there are several current 4.5's playing in the 4.0 singles bracket

    ReplyDelete
  80. You have to email the director of
tourny. Sign up at your 4.5 level and they will switch you to your old level. Guaranteed

    ReplyDelete
  81. "there are several current 4.5's playing in the 4.0 singles bracket"

How are you seeing this? I don't see an updated list of competitors.

    ReplyDelete
  82. "Applicants" on left hand side bar

    ReplyDelete
  83. have not all 8 teams been filled on tri level yet? Tri level is one of the best weekends, where every match is competitive every week and it is one fun weekend of playing tennis. Sup with not all teams filled?

    ReplyDelete
  84. Economy is bad, DTA runs bad events...would be a few guesses

    ReplyDelete
  85. Its $33 bucks, this event has always been well run, its at Brookhaven, and it is short and sweet. 3 to 4 matches, all in one weekend. starts on Friday after work, over by Sunday noon time.

    ReplyDelete
  86. if u had told me that nobody knew any 3.5s that could play on the team, i would have agreed with you on that though.

    ReplyDelete
  87. For those wanting to play at their old level in the Cotton Bowl I have one word.....pussy.

Play at your new level. Begin to enjoy and get used to the ass whoopin' you can expect all next year. Might as well get started. It's the gift from your USTA that just keeps on giving.

    ReplyDelete
  88. well spoken from the only guy on this blog who didn't get bumped.

    ReplyDelete
  89. I agree Russouw you gotta play up, I am trying to start my trophy collection for 2010, I won't take mercy on you even with your fancy new rating. It will be like that new movie with Morgan Freeman but I will be playing the part of Matt Damon. My wife would really like that....but I digress.

    ReplyDelete
  90. yeah yeah.... I registered before the ratings came out. I really didn't think I'd get bumped, but I guess the rest is history....I need to email them and get it changed. Will wait to see about dubs though. Hate to spend the money on only 1 match.....

    ReplyDelete
  91. Lakes at 25 to 1?

I'll take those odds. They will not lose a singles line. And will find at leeast one winning doubles combination each match up. Lakes is being taken for graned here. Son Do and Doug Fries are not getting the credit they deserve. That's an undefeated combo this season. That combined wiht their thier depth at singles will be tough to beat. They have three 4.5 quality singles players....One of which will help out in doubles each match.

    I'm just saying!

    ReplyDelete
  92. Sorry Lakes but if you guys were in the other flight your odds would be more like 5 to 1 but against OC and Garland, I can't find a doubles combination that wouldn't beat Son/Doug. They are good players but they will be up against 4.5 players every time out this weekend.

Fankhauser is good but don't get carried away he will be seeing players that won matches at nationals (Vinh Tran) and guys who could have (Defeo, Obannon, Andy Mac).

    ReplyDelete
  93. You know I am still a Lakes fan though, I am looking through my couch now to find enough coin to come up with that initiation fee so I can play tennis in the good part of town.

    ReplyDelete
  94. cool...with the recent bump-ups we could use the help1

    ReplyDelete
  95. I agree about the Lakes - they are better than a 25-1 shot, regardless of the flight. They're the same caliber team as Greenhill, who you give great odds to, but Lakes has stronger singles players that are capable of winning against anyone - guess we'll find out how they stack up this weekend

    ReplyDelete
  96. does anyone know if we're palying indoors, covered, or out in the cold Friday night?

    ReplyDelete
  97. Noel, according to our tri-level captain Arcaria, you committed to playing on our team. Then after you have an opportunity to play on Morrisons team you jump ship? I'm sure you have a sorry ass excuse, but that says alot to me about your character. I can now understand why you get ripped on here so much. Could care less that you're not on the team actually, but I do think you have no word and as such I look forward to kicking your unethical ass. Not sure how much it says about BMO either, knowing you were already committed to the team yet he took you anyhow. I guess you pussies deserve each other.

    ReplyDelete
  98. Wait a minute - NOEL - UNETHICAL - WHAT??????

    ReplyDelete
  99. That just goes to show how big of a TWAT Noel has.

    ReplyDelete
  100. Coredog, Say it aint so!!! Is this post from anon accurate?

    ReplyDelete
  101. hope we're indoors!

    ReplyDelete
  102. I hope it's outside in the bone cold weather.

    ReplyDelete
  103. I figured this would come up at some point. I will tell you exactly what happened. Shawn e-mailed me to ask if he wanted to play. He already had two 4.5s on his roster (neither of which I have ever seen hit a ball). I told him I would play if I could practice with those guys first.

Brian e-mailed me less than an hour later asking me and Ben Hawkins to join. I have played with Ben many times and I work with him so it was a much better option for me to play with somebody I know and have played with before. It had nothing to do with which team I thought was better or personal feelings. If I have an opportunity to play competitive doubles with Ben, or somebody I don't know, I will choose Ben every time.

The bottom line is that I did tell Shawn I would play on his team, but then signed up for another team. I did apologize to him before I signed up with Morrison and I was on his roster for all of an hour so I didn't think it was that big of a deal actually, but there were multiple people I called on Monday because I was struggling with the decision.

As I said to Shawn and Brian, this is really much ado about nothing because I am a weak 4.5 doubles player at best and will be lucky to win a match thatweekend. Shawn will probably be happy he doesn't have me after it's over.

Nevertheless, I wish Shawn's team the best of luck.

    ReplyDelete
  104. Thanks. I really am sorry it happened this way though.

    ReplyDelete
  105. sounds like morrison is a deutchbag for stealing a player away from another team.

    ReplyDelete
  106. Do you mean a doosh bag, or were you referring to the German version? Agreed though, Morrison is one, and Nancy always comes up with the excuses. Either way you put it, he is a scumbag who's word is meaningless.

    ReplyDelete
  107. "No worries Corey!"

translation - my team just got better.

Anon should have just put his name to the post calling Corey out. There's not many people on that tri-level team. Take your pick of the few guys that could have said that. One of which is now 4.5 and has posted here in the past?

    ReplyDelete
  108. That's true. Not much disguise when there are only 5 signed up but I don't care. I don't know anybody on that team so what they think of me is based on the blog. Shawn's team will probably be better without me. Brian's would too but he doesn't know that. Ben will be carrying me.

    ReplyDelete
  109. okay, even though I don't like to defend against anons, because it is a pointless battle, I will do so 1 time.

I too am sorry that it was a yes/no. Wish life was perfect, its not. This was not done in the 11th hour. Arcaria was not stuck at the alter by himself with 2 tix to Tahiti and a bag of Viagra. He was a verbal on the team for about an hour.

All jokes aside, sorry it happened, but it wasn't a last minute switch either.

    ReplyDelete
  110. What an ass B-Mo is! I am not sure if he is trying to apologize or not to Arcaria? Does not seem like one even though he says sorry.

    ReplyDelete
  111. Move on. It was someone from our team that posted it and he can post his name or not. I don't agree with how it went down with BMo and Noel but it is no big deal.

    ReplyDelete
  112. First off, I meant to sign my name to the original post but hit publish too quickly. Secondly, what's the difference if you know who it is or not, doesn't change the facts. Don't know Corey personally, but what was done is simply wrong, whether the commitment was made for a minute, an hour, or a month, and whatever the excuse is. You are either a man of your word, or you're not. I'm not a 4.5 so you would have not figured it out based on that anyhow.

  113. is the uni-nut playing trilevel?

    ReplyDelete
  114. Yes, he's riding in on his uni-cycle.

  115. This man-drama is gay. You guys playing tennis or watching Lifetime channell?

    ReplyDelete
  116. Kind of what I was thinking. Carey, can you change the name of this blog to the Dallas Girls League Tennis blog?

    ReplyDelete
  117. lakes tomorrow against brookhaven.

who do you like in this one?

    ReplyDelete
  118. Gerber is a stand up guy. Leave him alone!

    ReplyDelete
  119. gerber looks like cereal killa

    ReplyDelete
  120. Just when the blog was becoming civil again, back to more of the same. Name-calling and insults. This is why the blog is expanding to other non-anonymous venues.

    ReplyDelete
  121. Calling me a pussy is fighting words. Did I ever mention to you I was Golden Gloves in college? before I played on the rugby team? I will go ahead and scan in some pics on Facebook when I dig them out so you can see its not some sort of wives tale. I need to see an apology, or we can strap on some gloves and go to a gym somewhere and settle this.

    ReplyDelete
  122. Hit you twice fast, and one more time while you are falling down.

    ReplyDelete
  123. Wow, Congrats BM!

How about this, instead of marching out orders (I mean big, fighter-man threats) and demanding apologies from others, I think you should have to apologize to the readers of this blog for not telling them how truly badass you are until now. I for one feel slighted that I have not had the pleasure of hearing this kind of raw, masculine badassness since the glory days of Eddie thinking he was the top 4.0 in the world.

I just get all excited when I hear all this talk about beating people 6-0, 6-0, calling people out, demanding apologies, stealing Noel from another team, rugby, golden gloves, taking your shirt off (ooops, did that slip out). It's just all to much.

I think I speak for the blog when I say "BRING ON THOSE FACEBOOK PICTURES, PLEASE!"

    ReplyDelete
  124. owned - by an anon? You give yourself wayyyyyy too much credit. Your an anon. Do you really think I can take the words of an anon seriously? Your words are like air, they have no weight. An anon can never own anyone. You should have learned that by now.

You can talk a huge long paragraph about someone, but you should not feel like you are very smug. You are an anon. You hide in a room behind a computer and talk big thinking that no one will ever find out who you are.

You are the worst type of coward. You don't own anyone. You never have in your whole life and you never will.

    ReplyDelete
  125. See Brian. This is why you don't respond to anons. I just think that it's funny since I have such a bad reputation and am such a horrible person, that this argument started because two teams wanted me to play for them. If you guys think I'm such an a**hole, then you should be happy I'm not on your team, yet you're upset. You can't have it both ways.

    ReplyDelete
  126. I don't even know what to say except OMG!!!

    You guys make me chuckle.

    ReplyDelete
  127. Welcome to The Days of our Lives Cary.

    ReplyDelete
  128. Ummm, well, he was golden gloves too (in jr. high) and he knows a freind who knows a friend who has a friend that was a triple x man. Does that count?

    ReplyDelete
  129. Guys come on-Isn't BMO being a little tough on the Anon?

    ReplyDelete
  130. No doubt!!! Beamer needs to CHILL OUT!!! I,ve taken so much more than that!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  131. Geeez I seem to pick teams that like to stir the pot when it comes to this blog:) Corgdawg no hard feelings I found out you might be one of the 4.5 players and then about 10mins later I heard you signed with team 6-0, 6-0. It makes perfect sense why you picked them. I wanted to play on a team that a few of my friends were on too.

    ReplyDelete
  132. Does anyone know when the 4.5 singles start playing during the Cotton Bowl? TIA

    ReplyDelete
  133. BM is a fraud. Anyone who really knows how to take care of themselves doesn't brag about it.

    4th degree blackbelt Tae-Kwon-Do

    ReplyDelete
  134. If Arcaria spent more time on the court and less time stirring shit up and winning maybe he would be a better tennis player.

    ReplyDelete
  135. BMO,

I had a pleasant exchange w/Gerber over that post yesterday. No harm intended, but I understood it the way you did that's why I contacted Gerber.

As far as the attacks on BMO, Corey and Arcaria, anon is spineless. If you can't post your name behind your shameful post, stay off!!!!! Fraser does know a couple federal agents and I think it would be great if this(these) anons were exposed.

    ReplyDelete
  136. I think the new name for lifetime team should be dramatime.

    ReplyDelete
  137. If BMOs boxing is as good as his tennis game, nobody has anything to worry about. I surely hope that the pic that BMO posts doesn't show his man boobs.

    ReplyDelete
  138. NICE OF BM TO LET US KNOW HOW TOUGH HE IS. REMINDS ME OF GETZ TELLING US ABOUT HIS BIG HOUSE. BOTH ARE RETARDED.

    ReplyDelete
  139. Last post wasn't me. BMO, I stand behind what I said, if anyone owes any apologies, it's you. You want to fight, bring it, but there will be no gloves involved.

    ReplyDelete
  140. Here's an idea. Why don't we give Brian a break and talk about tennis. Or instead of bagging on him, bag on us. I could really use some more wall material for our team, like for example, how bad we are up here at the Lakes or we won't win one line all weekend, we're overrated, our captain went to Texas public schools! (Okay, don't go there. That's crossing the line.)

    ReplyDelete
  141. I LIKE BRIAN BUT IT IS DUMB TO TALK ABOUT HOW TOUGH YOU ARE.

    ReplyDelete
  142. how bout pillows? i hear morrison is hell in a pillow fight.

    ReplyDelete
  143. I am starting a Men on their Periods blog. I was thinking that many of you would make great charter members.

    ReplyDelete
  144. 4.0 discussion = the old 3.5 discussion.

Less bitching and moaning kids. Practice your grown up talk.

    ReplyDelete
  145. Haven't you heard? All of the 3.5s got moved to 4.0.

    ReplyDelete
  146. Gerber, i stand by my words as well. you should not be calling me names.

I think we should buy some gloves, go at it, and get it out of our system. Wait for a warmer weekend day. Announce a time and a place and go to some grassy park.

You use gloves because you aren't 13 anymore and you can kill someone with your fists if you hit them just wrong. Gloves keep it civilized.

    ReplyDelete
  147. Just getting caught up on this thread. I have to agree that Lakes is the weakest team in their flight.

I don't think OC is the best team. I would go 1) Garland, 2) OC, 3) BH and 4) Lakes.

I think most teams can get away with not putting their best line ups against Lakes. Sorry Lakes, you guys still haven't earned your respect.

    ReplyDelete
  148. OMG what how old are you guys.. GROW UP.. I just read all of this blog for the first time in a month and now I know why I stopped...

    ReplyDelete
  149. BMO

Gerber won't put on gloves and go at it. He's all bark and no bite and his play proves it.

    ReplyDelete
  150. Why don't y'all stop talking about this crap, and start talking about teams that are playing this weekend, like how weak Lakes is :)

    ReplyDelete
  151. Because the lakes sucks, that's pretty well established.

    ReplyDelete
  152. I think golden gloves is just a boxing tournament, much like USTA tournaments

    ReplyDelete
  153. BM,

You are the gift that keeps on giving. Don't let these anons mess with you. Keep on telling everyone how badass you are and don't let those other pussies who won't put their name down stop you. Just because they have enough common sense not to say the dumb shit you are saying is not a reason to withhold their identities. Screw the FBI, we need to bring in Park Rangers for this type of criminal activity. Get some sleeveless shits, maybe an new tatoo, transam and keep kicking ass, not that you know how not to.

    ReplyDelete
  154. -Y-, I got an e-mail today saying all adult singles will start Saturday morning for the Cotton Bowl.

    ReplyDelete
  155. damn that is funny klamecki!

    ReplyDelete
  156. No BS, Gerber Vs BMO in a boxing match. I will pay $ to see that and I know others will. Somebody PLEASE make this happen. Also, I'll bet even more $ that Gerber is the first one to back down.

    ReplyDelete
  157. BMO, can you please elaborate a little more on the Rugby deal? Why did you play that gay sport, so you could scrum with the boys? Please stop posting on here making yourself look ridiculous and becoming and easy target for all.

    ReplyDelete
  158. His forehand volley does look a little limp wristed. Now we are getting to the bottom of things.

    ReplyDelete
  159. Cary, now you know how you can make money off of the blog. You can sanction boxing matches. Rent out a gym and sell tickets. I too would pay to see this.

    ReplyDelete
  160. Hey Corey,

Maybe you and Sisk can start holding an annual boxing tournament too. How much $$ would you make off of that?

    ReplyDelete
  161. Any time, any place!
    Gerber

    ReplyDelete
  162. I'm too lazy to go watch this but if you can get it on pay per view I'm in. Who's on the undercard?

    ReplyDelete
  163. Probably the same as I made on our last tournament. About $20. I'm really rolling in dough from all those entry fees.

    ReplyDelete
  164. I think Carey Bazan V Brad Bartlett are the undercard.

    ReplyDelete
  165. Is it manly to challenge someone to a boxing match if they used to be a golden gloves champion? Is that kind of like Mike Tyson challenging someone to a fight, I mean, um, wow, let's go do something I am really good at, wheee. I say settle it like men, naked knife fight in the middle of Northpark Mall on christmas eve, first one to get his dick cut off loses. That would probably add some manlyness and at the same time reduce one guy's manlyness to this little tennis world.

    King Anon

    ReplyDelete
  166. I was never a golden gloves champion. I only did golden gloves in college - 1 year. We are looking for March 20th, 2 pm. $10 cover charge. All proceeds to go to Scottish Rite Hospital.

    ReplyDelete
  167. Will someone post results of tonight's matches? Then let me borrow $10?

    ReplyDelete
  168. Again someone posting using my name. I have no real comment on all this stuff other than to say it is pretty funny.

Good luck to both. I give a slight edge to BMo as he is a lefty. Angles, man angles...

    The real Eddie

  169. morrison has some really big issues. comes from having a very tiny weenie.

    ReplyDelete
  170. MORRISON IS NOT GOLDEN GLOVES. HE IS GOLDEN MOUTH.

    ReplyDelete
  171. Ok Morrison, I'll agree to your little venue. However, you seem to want to control things and picked the venue (in your so called expertise), the gloves, the date, and even the charity. As such, we can add to that something I have a little experience in and do some open grappling. 7 oz std. gloves, same time and rounds. Free to the public, and loser donates $500 of his own greenbacks to the Republican Party. Anytime between now and March 20th, you can pick it.

    ReplyDelete
  172. I will volunteer to judge but I'm sure nobody would accept the idea that I'm non-biased. I would be more than shocked if this happened anyway.

    ReplyDelete
  173. I would assume that's not Gerber. Gerber can post on FB if he wants people to know its him. I would hope he doesn't think politicians need the money more than sick children?

    ReplyDelete
  174. morrison is not going to fight anybody. he is just a big bag of wind.

if they do fight, this will end up on the ground (like most fights) and I give the edge to gerber. he'll grap morrison by the balls and morrison will cry like a baby.

    ReplyDelete
  175. Morrison has balls???? Since when?
