4.0 Week 2

So technically it is week 3 but I am going with 2 since the first one was a washout. Sorry for the late write up but this week has been hectic for me, I actually have to work at "work", what is this world coming to.

Flight A:
SWAT team has a doubleheader that might just decide whether we are going into a full on rebuilding session as we take on the LB Houston and then the Lakes on Sunday. But a great match between TBar v. Greenhill should be great. TBar is another team like SWAT who lost a good chunk of their core and are feeling the pain but they will be tough to beat.

Flight B:
I think we can give 1st place to Garland and now we can figure out who is fighting for 2nd that starts with Eldorado v. Greenhill. Greenhill started out strong but will need to avoid slip ups and same goes for Fretz.

Flight C:
Great MOW here as Village takes on BH/Pearlman. Their Spring season finale ended with the Village making it to the playoffs by beating them and I wonder if the same result won't occur this time around. I am going to have to go with Village since I think they will take both singles and scratch out a doubles match.

Flight D:
Not anything spine tingling here but Springpark v. Brookhaven will be interesting for a little while until BH rolls on. Garland v. Stonebridge will most likely define one of these teams as a contender or a pretender.

Good luck this weekend!

  1. GARLAND DOMINATES. TERRELL, RYAN, AND BROUER WILL BE DOMINATRIXES

  2. Good write-up Cary. In flight A I hope we can hang-on to beat TBar. They were very tough last season. They may have lost some players but they also added some 4.5 bump-downs. Definitely a watershed weekend for HP. A loss to Lakes could mean the end of their fall playoff run unless they get a lot of help. I see them taking down the Lakes though in a close match. I am not sure agree with a previous Anon’s opinion that Lakes singles are unbeatable. We’ll see. Hp should handle LBH easily. Stonebrair have to take on the Lakes and Tbar in a make-up. These will be 2 more good match-ups and tell us something for the rest of season. I expect Lakes to beat Sbriar in a close match and Stonebriar to squeak out a win over TBar.
In flight B I agree that Arnette and Eldorado will be interesting and the winner (probably Arnette) and Fretz could be the challengers for the #2 spot in this flight. But it will be a pillow-fight all season I suspect. Here’s hoping that my ex-team Hackberry get something going against Canyon Creek!
I’m going to pick BH over Village 3-2. That will be a great match! Greenhill will be a factor. I happened to be at Canyon Creek last week watching them take down Canyon Creek (a very tough team who are now 0 & 2 after challenging in the spring with basically the same team). If GHill have another singles player instead of Robot-man they could be a problem for the favorites in the flight but seem to lack a little depth after their top players. Look for a Canyon Creek bounce-back against HP in a 3-2 win. Patricio is a lock at singles so they only need to scratch out 2 more lines…..
D: Bob is incredible! I don’t know where he finds these guys every season but after taking down SBridge 4-1 they are a definite favorites for the play-offs behind a very deep BH team in this flight. SBridge, Oak Creek & Lifetime have an uphill battle now after already losing. Oak Creek may mail it in early and try to manage some ratings? I’d hate to see that but it could happen. I’d be surprised if Spark get a line off BH. Oak Creek probably take all 5 lines against Prather. Anyone notice how conveniently Somabut has a bye the week of 10/3 when they go to Nationals? Rewarding Bob for a trip to Nationals is probably the right thing to do though by the DTA – but a week without Fenn, Kemp and Weymer would have made the flight even more interesting. SBridge and Garland will be interesting. I expect SBridge to bounce-back
It will be good to see some of the make-up matches caught up after all the rain and see the standings start to take shape by Monday. Have fun everyone.

  3. Garlands roster looks to be the best in 4.0 flights. I guess we'll have to wait and see.

  4. I guess Garland is the new LFT. We will have to listen to how great they are until playoffs. Then Bob's team will crush them, and bring them back to reality.

  5. Anon, I suspect that you are looking at Garland Sisk in Flight B which I agree is the team to beat. I didn't bother referring to them in my post as it's so obvious. My post refers to Garland/ Breukner in flight D which is clearly NOT the strongest.

  6. Bob beats a mediocre Stonebridge team and he is now the complete favorite?? Way too jump the gun. We all know not to count out Bob as they will be challenging at the end, but to say he is by far the favorite with so many questions is obsurd.

BH is the favorite thus far, followed by Bob, and LTF has a shot at 1 of the top 2 spots.

  7. Look alike of the week!

    John Sisk=Rex Ryan

  8. Why would Brookhaven be favored? Did all of Bob's old players make a Brookhaven team?

    ReplyDelete
  9. No. There were 3 Bhaven teams in the Spring; 2 of which went to Spring playoffs and the other one went to 2008 Fall play-offs. That one has disbanded and all it's players split between the other 2 BHaven teams making them stronger and deeper. I don't think any of Bob's players are there but they are stronger than they were in the Spring while Village have remained the same

  10. CHARITY EVENTS
This month we have two charity events. One is worthwhile and the other is not.

"My Possibilities" is being held at Canyon Creek on Oct 3. Proceeds help mentally challenged individuals get the education they need to be more independent. Great cause.

"Invest in a Child" Oct 23-24 is really a shameless ripoff that should be called "INVEST IN DTA OVERHEAD" If you have a few dollars for charity, there are much better ways to spend your money.

  11. Well there is a perfect reason to play in the Dallas Cup: Brian C will not be! I have played in it the past 2 years and it is alot of fun and well organized with a huge turnout. I confess I do not know how the money is used but would be surprised if it doesn't find it's way to a good cause (other than the DTA) like "Invest in a child".

I suspect Brian is bitter about being sanctioned by the DTA perhaps?

    ReplyDelete
  12. i played last year didnt enjoy it much. dinner and silent auction not very good

    ReplyDelete
  13. What did the guy do to draw a sanction? What was the sanction?

    ReplyDelete
  14. how do you get sanctioned? With some of the crap going on around here and those individuals do not get sanctioned, what does it take?

    ReplyDelete
  15. I have nothing against the DTA but I agree there are probably a lot better charities to support than the Dallas Cup. Hmmmm ... better to donate $ to a charity that helps sick or blind children or give to the DTA???

    ReplyDelete
  16. So I am looking at the HP/Bob v. Village match and all I can think is "shady" or did HP play left handed? It is one or the other.

I will still root for them next weekend but come on.

  17. the fall league is for tanking and score management. its not good for anything else.

    ReplyDelete
  18. What are the odds of Prathers team going the whole season without winning 1 line???? Boy those Guys are terrible!!! They should all be 3.5 or maybe that's what they are trying to do.In the Spring they were the worst team in the league!!!

    ReplyDelete
  19. Interesting flavor of change (just different, not necessarily better but food for thought).

In San Antonio, The Fall Winner plays the Spring Winner to determine who goes to Sectionals. If it is the same team, then they have bye into Sectionals. The next level of teams would play for Wild Card.

  20. SWAT lost to LB Houston, what happened here?

    ReplyDelete
  21. SWAT is tanking for ratings management :)

    ReplyDelete
  22. JCC? i didnt know jewish people played tennis?

    ReplyDelete
  23. prather and his boys are all tanking to get their 3.5 ratings back. pretty obvious

    ReplyDelete
  24. Prather and the Huffines team is just terrible. They are just playing to get their ratings down to 3.5. It is pretty obvious. It is not fair to real 4.0 teams to waste their time to play a team like that.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Their should be a rule of at least 50% of your players should be 4.0s.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Who is this Brian C. that is being talked about? What team is or was he on?

    ReplyDelete
  27. Go HP/Bob! Good luck in Vegas this weekend. Hit the tables, hit the booze, and hit the courts. Not necessarily in that order.

    Bring it back for Texas!

    ReplyDelete
  28. Do Well in Vegas this weekend HighPoint. Represent Dallas and Texas well. You have a Strong team.

    ReplyDelete
  29. The teams from Brookhaven are really kicking some ass at the start of the season!

    ReplyDelete
  30. with all the rain they are the only ones that can get in any practice time. I bet TBar is doing well too!!!

    ReplyDelete
  31. Jcc was a bit of a shock vs Garland. 3 third set breakers! Young talent there and could give some trouble in that flight. Their line up is mixed around so looks like some captain gamesmanship. They won't win it but don't sleep on them.

    ReplyDelete
  32. JCC's Barry Lieberman taking down Garland's MacFarlane doesn't really shock me, Leiberman has solid strokes all the way around. JCC's only got one match on the books, don't be surprised if they end up contending for this flight if any more 3rd set tie breaks go against Garland down the road.

  33. Texas wins 3-2 vs pnw. Dreams still alive

  34. Bazan,
What the hell? Your team sucks and you completely bail on the blog? We still have 4.0 Week 2 as our blog. Come on, get on it! We are over 2 weeks behind!

  35. Hello left over 4.0s. This might be your last 4.0 post as when someone else starts a new thread, this thread falls off. So long suckers! Who cares about 4.0 now that Captain Shazam is out. One word for you guys.

nah nah nah nA ...hey hey hey gooooood byyyyyyyyyyye

  36. That's more than one word dipshit.

  37. Who the hell is Capt. Shazzam?

  38. I can feel what Cary is going through,
    It's Fall.
    It's Raining.
    and results don't matter.
Hard to come up with hot sports opinions under those circumstances.

If anybody want's to write a guest column here I will be happy to cut and paste it into the blog main page.

  39. Lakes vs Greenhill Rossouw this week. Who has the better team?

    ReplyDelete
  40. Who cares!!! It's the Lakes and Greenhill. ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

    ReplyDelete
  41. I'll take the Lakes. Too much firepower over there. They won't loose until the playoffs. Greenhill is too new and haven't played together very much.
