4.0 Week 2

I say this week we play rain or shine. I think I might have forgotten how to keep score it has been so long.

Flight A looks pretty run of the mill this week. I was hoping to see how week 1 shook out to see how this week's matches would look but no luck there. If I had to pick an interesting match to watch it would be TBar v. Lakes. This will tell us if TBar is taking a step back or not. My guess is the Lakes will take this one but not by much.

Flight B
Yet again too early to tell what will happen here but OC v. Greenhill should show us if Greenhill will be in the playoff hunt or staying at home again.

Flight C
Nothing to get exicted about here, will be interesting to see how Burt's BH team starts out the season. Garland/2 had some good upsets last season not sure they can pull one here.

Flight D
I had to give this flight two MOWs and I think they might have one every week. I like the LTF v. OC match up. Can LTF be out of it by week 2, hard to imagine but it might be the case. HP/Bob will be tested in their first match as a retooled Stonebridge team looks to make it back to the postseason after a little drought. I like HP in this one but it will not be easy.

  4. So, 7 lifetime guys get bumped to 4.5 and people are still hating the 4.0 team? It's basically a whole new team. Let it go.

  5. 6 more days of rain predicted. No need to dust off the rackets yet.

  6. Who's taking over the 3.5 blog?

    How about Kim Anderson.

  7. Hey what about a few comments on the following 4.0 teams: LB Houston / Ratana, Brookhaven / Ludwig and HighPoint / Somabut? How do you think they will do?

  8. Who cares about 3.5. Let focus on people that actually know how to play tennis.

  9. I agree! Anyone under a 4.5 level is a subhuman being and has no clue about how to play this great game of tennis!

  10. Wow!! 3-2 That's awesome. Way to dominate. I guess that proves how good you guys are.

  11. A win is a win. OC was one of the favorites to win the flight. It is a nice win.

  12. Is it possible to change teams once the season starts? If so what is the deadline for changing teams?

    ReplyDelete
  13. Yea you can change teams. Your current captain has to call the DTA and tell them what team you want to move to. Both captains agree, then you switch.

    ReplyDelete
  14. You can switch teams as long as you have not played on the team you are currently registered on. Good luck.

    ReplyDelete
  15. 4:08 I'm pretty sure you can only switch teams before the season starts. Both captains have to agree to a transfer, but you're SOL at this point.

  16. Hey PRATHER!!

I am sick of you guys losing, why don't you man up and start playing harder. You aren't even pushing yourselves to get better, you keep secretly hoping you are going to get bumped back down.

Its not going to happen. Start remembering how to win, push yourself, and play to win instead of hitting the same shots that haven't worked for the last 3 years. Your 3.5 glory days are over. Develop some weapons and use them. You guys walk out on the court like your expecting to lose.

  18. Someone finally caught on to Prather it seems. Is the guy just that bad or is he really tanking?

    ReplyDelete
  19. prather and a bunch of his buds are definitely tanking this fall.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Lakes is the team to beat this fall.

They are tough on both singles lines.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Its a good thing that lifetime has a couple of singles studs because there doubles SUCKS!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  22. Congrats to Capt. J. Sisk and his line 3 doubles tankers C. Heath, and K. Clark for throwing there match at 4.0 to keep the hope alive for a 3.5 rating in the spring! Some things just never change!

    ReplyDelete
  23. All Prather wants is to get bumped back down to 3.5. The 4.0 level is just to much for him. Prather will get his wish in Dec!

    ReplyDelete
  24. If I wanted to tank I would have thrown a 3.5 match, not a 4.0 match. And, yes, we won our 3.5 match 6-2, 6-2. Conan and I were just not consistent enough to win Saturday.
This is my first year of league tennis so this "win in the spring/lose in the fall" approach people keep refering to is news to me. I don't know how it works for anyone else, but I have better things to do on a weekend than go out and try to lose. As for John, don't know the history but he's never asked me or any of my partners to do anything but win.
    Thanks...K. Clark

  25. Not agood week Bazan, 0-2 for your 4.0 teams!

    ReplyDelete
  26. let's not be too quick to mention tanking please.

    ReplyDelete
  27. sisk had two 4.0 teams playing this weekend. one went 0-5 (in the spring that team went 1-7) and one went 5-0 (in the spring they went 9-0). isn't that about what you would expect the results to be in the fall?
no disrespect, but i've seen each of heath and clark play several times. they both had good runs in 3.5 but neither will be a factor in 4.0.

  28. Am I the only one who gets tired of reading every post about XXXXX player tanking matches? It gets pretty ridiculous when we are accusing new bump ups of tanking matches by getting beat. New bump ups will take some lumps until they get used to the game at the new level and improve. It is the nature of moving up levels. If they play 2 guys that are marginal 3.5 players wrongfully playing 4.0 and they lose 0 & 1, then you can raise an eye brow. Yet, a 2&2 loss to legitimate 4.0 players is not a good example of a tank job. If they were tanking, they had an EPIC FAIL.

    ReplyDelete
  29. We got beat 6-2, 6-4 in the 4.0 match.
We plan on competing well in 4.0 next year and hope to be in a position to do so by spring. Obviously we need more work. Assume I'm getting bumped at year end and just trying to get ready. If I was trying to stay in 3.5 my record doesn't reflect it.

  30. I'm new to league play but i got to say that it doesn't make any sense for someone to pay to play in a league and take time out of their weekends to go and lose on purpose.....that's crazy!

    ReplyDelete
  31. BTW, both polls on the MOW - the majority voter was incorrect. That's why we play them boys!

    ReplyDelete
  32. Clark - your new to the blog, a lot of us have already learned the anon lesson. don't answer an anon, or don't answer anon more than once. it won't stop otherwise.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Until there is an IQ test for anon postings you are right on the mark!
