So 3.5 had some interesting results as HP/Jameson lost to LBH and BH beat LTF in our MOW at this level.
Now flight A is very close between 4 four teams and it will come down to the final two weeks to see what happens. Brookhaven seems to have an inside track to get one spot since their ind. win total is so high a 2nd loss wouldn't hurt them but CC, HP and LTF are all in the mix.
Flight B, ho hum. GH and Westlake.
Flight C: Gleneagles is making a late run but not sure they can make it but you never know.
4.5
Royal Oaks wins our MOW but did have a close call at line 2 singles as Keller almost pulled it out. Molina as out but the might Russian flexed his muscle over Tikashi who took out Forrest Feuille today in 4.0 action.
OC Feldman also got another win to stay undefeated. The Lakes and HP are both at 5-2 and will have solid season but this flight is all but decided now.
NWood Noel and Brookhaven got victories to stay in their 1-2 positions as well and look to be staying in control. Noel does face a solid Hackberry team this coming weekend while BH has OC/Bovermann and then the two will meet in 2 weeks to decide the final positioning.
4.0
Not much posted yet. Lakes locked up their playoff spot with a 4-1 win. TBar made their case for a spot beating a good BH/Bartlett team 4-1 but unless our HP guys pull off a major upset over Greenhill, GH will get that other spot.
There looks to be a lot of 1 loss teams in 4.0 so it will come down to winning percentage, sets lost, etc to come up with the seeding for the playoffs.
I hope our team can remain undefeated and not be in that group but I did just agree to a challenge next week in our match v. Jim Walters in doubles. I hope they win so we can have a good match with something on the line other than me and Jim's pride.
Any other new results???
I did get to see a little of the Eagles Landing v. LTF match. I was glad Bill was able to get 8 guys out and test team Eddie. They did end up taking two singles from what was posted when I left they only had one.
ReplyDeleteLTF does have solid doubles but will be vulenrable at singles in the playoffs but it will be hard for any team to sweep singles in late Nov. I like the LTF and their new addition (E Harris) it should make them strong enough to hold that runner's up trophy. Oh wait not sure they have one, we can make one for you all.
Funny Cary. You know I love to talk trash. I can guarantee that will be the only time we get swept in singles. Our doubles are very strong though. As for the runner up trophy. You have a lot of work to do to make sure you get that, because the champions trophy already belongs to us. They already put our name on it. Eddie
ReplyDeleteSorry I missed you at the match. I was at a retreat this weekend.
Does anyone know the Hackberry vs Brookhaven score????
ReplyDeletewhat about Greenhill/HP score?
ReplyDeleteBrookhaven beat Hackberry, (4 - 1)
ReplyDeleteWell looks like Brookhaven wins flight C and LTF will be the 5 seed. Bad news for Cary and crew. Would not be surprised to see Team Bazaan dump their match on Sunday to avoid Lifetime.
ReplyDeleteI am not sure what seeding system you are thinking of but if we are going off tennislink for all 8 teams it would be BH-Pman, HP-Bazan and then LTF. I don't think you can move up in the rankings just because you won your flight, LTF has the highest winning pct for all the one loss teams and that is locked in. We still have to beat Springpark who is still in the hunt so who knows, not really up to me and our guys who goes where. I would like to play Eddie on Sunday or anyone on Sunday for that matter.
ReplyDeleteI would think that they will take the winners of each division and decide who is 1-4 based on winning pct; then do the same for who finishes second for 5-8. They wont do overall winning pct as you have to give some credit for winning a division whether you do it undefeated, one loss or two losses.
ReplyDeleterockettman
I does not matter because we will beat every team we see. I really want to see Cary in the final. If you are right Cary make sure you win this weekend so we can only meet in the final. Eddie
ReplyDeleteCary, I know you have not been to the DCC before so you would not know, but Rockettman is right. 1-4 seeds are Fight champs in order of record. 5-8 is second place teams in order of record.
ReplyDeletesee, I'm good for something. And that's why I'm also anxious for the Greenhill score.
ReplyDeleteRockettman
yes you are rockettman, thanks for the input, now I have to redo my whole chart.
ReplyDeleteI understand the process but not sure I am a fan of it since a team that wins a flight could have 2 losses and be seeded above a team with one close loss but in the end, who cares, let's play some late Nov. tennis already.
Ok that was a lie, let's see those scores Greenhill. Actually I could call john and find out but I am too lazy.
These playoffs don't really matter. HP Somabut will build another super team in the spring, and win it all anyway.
ReplyDeletethe interesting thing is not whether you finish 1st or 2nd but what flight of the playoffs you get put in and how that matchup works for you. Getting in is the first step; then you have to perform. I guess that is the step Eddie is banking on. It will be fun as always.
ReplyDeleterockettman
Eddie is NOT banking on anything. He just likes to talk.
ReplyDeleteNorthwood continues to roll with a 7 - 0 victory over HP.
ReplyDeleteNancy had an impressive 6 - 1, 6 - 2 over Sean Bay. Bay is one of the most obnoxious people around so it was good to see Nancy come out on top.
why does Keith think he will get bumped down to 4.0? I don't see it happening.
ReplyDeleteLifetime will win.
ReplyDelete"Bay is one of the most obnoxious people around so it was good to see Nancy come out on top."
ReplyDeleteIf Bay had won, you could just reverse the statement.
4.5 Flight B is hardly wrapped up. If the RO pros beat OC next week, the final week would be HP vs OC for the 2nd spot.
That was the first time I had met Sean but I didn't see any obnoxious behavior. I was surprised that the match wasn't closer but if we play again it probably will be. My team is shooting for one more win to lock up the flight.
ReplyDeleteI would say HP is about 10 to 1 to make the playoffs now. I can't see OC or Royal Oaks losing twice, and even if they did, you would still have to count up matches and possibly sets.
ReplyDeleteSomething's wrong or is it? In the 4.0 flight B, the 3rd place team has a better win % than 1 and 2teams. You would think they would get the #1 seed in that division but by the looks of it, they may not even get to play. Now that is "Durty".
ReplyDeleteTeam Eddie, why is it your team STILL have not posted your scores?
ReplyDeleteI really don't see any way Garland makes it out of Flight B. They are going to finish with more individual wins than the other 2 teams, but they didn't show up on the 2 weeks when it mattered.
ReplyDeleteStyle points don't matter
ReplyDeleterockettman
Home team posts scores. The match was played at Eagles Landing. Not Team Eddie's fault. Bill will get it done.
ReplyDeletePLAYOFFS SEEDING ALL BUT SET. for 4.0
ReplyDelete1. Brookhaven/Pearlman
2. HP/Bazaan
3. HP/But
4. Lakes
5. Lifetime/Hill
6. Greenhill
7. Oak Creek
8. Brookhaven/Helt
Blue Flight
1. Brookhaven
4. Lakes
7. Oak Creek
8. Brookhaven/Helt
Red Flight
2. HP/Bazaan
3. HP/But
5. Lifetime/Hill
6. Greenhill
You can questions these picks if you like but this is the way it will end up unless we have major upset. As far as division of flight go it will go this way as well because you will not get put in the same flight as a team you were in the same flight with during the season. Brookhaven/Pearl gets a great draw.
Cary,
ReplyDeleteRight now I bet you wish you hadn't dropped all those lines on purpose. The top 3 teams are in the same flight for playoffs. You will not even be the runner up in the red flight....
That would be a GREAT Draw for Lifetime. Lifetime could easily beat both High Point teams with their "B" lineups. Everyone knows that those who "Can" play for Lifetime, and those who "Can't" play for HP.
ReplyDeleteSorry Cary, but reality will soon sit in for you and your overachieving team this season.
Anyone that thinks Forrest will lose again this season is nuts. If Lifetimes Doubles are as good and deep as advertised. This thing is over. You cannot get 3 lines off them.
ReplyDeleteForrest has been exposed. Expect more losses.
ReplyDeleteFirst he is a ringer & coward and does not belong at 4.0
ReplyDeleteNow he has been exposed and will lose every match at 4.0 DCC. Which is it???
He will not lose another 4.0 match this season and Lifetime will win the Fall DCC with ease.
I Told Ya! Confirmation Baby!!
ReplyDeleteyou fools fail to realize that the guy he lost to was a former teamate that got bumped to 4.5 and appealed back as well. Lifetime did not need that match and Forrest was playing a friend for a match that meant nothing. they fought hard but it meant ZERO.
ReplyDeleteyou're probably right as it relates to Forrest, but Eddie if you're interested in playing sooner than later, I can "fix" things for you.
ReplyDeleteI can make you better, faster and stronger than you ever were before.
Oscar Goldman
thanks. But I have been working out with Barry Bonds and his trainer for the past month. I am feeling very strong and the shoulder is better than ever with this cream they keep rubbing on it.
ReplyDeleteEddie
PS. I will hit my first tennis ball righty in 4 months on Nov 10th. Look out world!!!
man, what a lay down by Loose and the boys...2 defaults and not much resistance vs the OC/Branch A team
ReplyDeleteIn looking at the OC Branch match - the score isn't by the book. If you are going to default lines, don't you have to default line 3 doubles and line 2 singles?
ReplyDeleteIn the end it doesn't matter since it appears Loose was helping his old friends secure a 5-0 score increasing their odds should it come down to a tie breaker. I wonder if it will come down to that - hmmmm.
Greenhill score is finally in. They won as expected.4-1
ReplyDeleteFeel bad for TBar 4.0
ReplyDelete"I would say HP is about 10 to 1 to make the playoffs now. I can't see OC or Royal Oaks losing twice, and even if they did, you would still have to count up matches and possibly sets."
ReplyDeleteYou would be WAY off. OC plays RO this week and HP the final week. HP would win match tiebreakers if tied w/ OC.
Looks like you'll have to tank against BH to keep Branch out of the playoffs. The laydown by Loose is convenient.
wow anonymous has heart
ReplyDeleterockettman
Ok Cary time to split up divsions. I couldn't care less about 4.5 talk and I am sure they don't like the 4.0 stuff. Please put up new entry. thanks.
ReplyDeleteYes Cary - and please do the 4.5 last as I hate having to scroll past the scrubs of 4.0 and 3.5 to get back to discussing my team.
ReplyDeletenot enough time for posting now I have a meeting with Jane Gilpin to make sure she puts me in the best flight, we are going to change some rules around.
ReplyDeleteRockettman,
congrats on 1st place, by a hair.
anon does have a heart, I don't have much of vested interest in TBar but going 6-1 and staying home is hard to handle I am sure. Worse than Garland's season for sure and they still have LBH on the schedule with Jerry and Zack at nats.
OC really showed up this weekend and looks like I will get to see them first hand in about 3 weeks.
I might Corey since the 4.5 races are actually more interesting than 4.0 this week, actually 3.5 might have the most drama going on this week.
ReplyDeleteBut let's not forget the Durdy trip to nats, go Garland! Yikes did I just say that?
Hey Eddie, where else have they been rubbing that cream? Looks like you've been walking funny lately......
ReplyDeleteCary,
ReplyDeletewe will take it, even if it is by a hair; as I've been losing a lot of the hairs on my head lately.
rockettman
Corey is entirely too arrogant to "lay down" in a match, or do we get to go after him for tanking a match as well?
ReplyDeleteOf course he's not really good enough to worry about having to tank.
If Corey has some guys who are not going to get to play in the playoffs.......I say let them play in a match vs BH which is meaningless to his team's standings
ReplyDeleteNancy's team is not going to lay down. They are going to win out. And dont bet against them in the playoffs.
ReplyDeleteI know someone said it is up to the home team to post the scores but the visiting team is not disallowed from posting scores in fact you are supposed to go on and confirm the scores anyway so it doesn't matter who posts them first as long as somebody does. I for one have posted every match score we have played, away, home, inbetween. What is the big dif really?
ReplyDeleteI couldn't agree more with poster from 5:57. I don't agree with "Corey Noel." I'm waiting to hear some compelling reason for my team to try to win the last match if we are 8-0. I will guarantee this: Every player who enters the court for that match will be trying to win. NOBODY ON MY TEAM WILL EVER LOSE ON PURPOSE IN ANY SITUATION!! I care nothing about going undefeated. If it's like last fall, my players will know that the last match is meaningless and they might make other plans or let other guys play in their place.
ReplyDeleteOne last thing, I am not looking past Hackberry one bit. It is not unrealistic for my team to miss the playoffs. A loss to Hackberry and we are fighting for our lives against Brookhaven.
Poster 5:02: I guess I could prove your wrong. Look at my score from Saturday to negate the second part of your comment. Good is all relative anyway. The day I tank a match is the day I quit playing tennis.
ReplyDeleteLifetime vs. Eagles Landing???
ReplyDeleteAny reason why Lifetime or Eagles Landing haven't posted this score? If it's that difficult, email me and I'll walk you this ridiculously simple procedure.
Signed,
4.0 League Captain
no problem einstien - i have been wanting some help. although, i am nervous about asking advice from someone who signs on a blog annonymously, does not give their name or email adress, but then asks me to email them. were you smoking pot when you blogged that entry.
ReplyDeletegive me your info and i will email you and you can help me - i am filling in this week.
thanks,
the person in charge of entering the scores this week for e.landing.
Eagles landing and LTF scores are now in.
ReplyDeleteLTF got swept at singles vs EL? What is up with that? I recall last season their singles lines won most of their matches. I'm shocked at both Forrest and Wines. Forrest must have not been that interested and I've heard Wines is out of form. Eddie, any change coming at line 2 for the DCC?
ReplyDeleteLTF doubles does look strong. They appear in good position to win 2 of 3 at least at doubles and also at least split singles. But until someone knocks off Somabut, Somabut is still the favorite.
