Flight A just got really intriguing. Springpark loses, Brookhaven loses to LBH. OMG! The Village is looking like they might be a playoff contender. Did I say OMG! I knew they would be solid but they have barely used Kyle Rhodes and if they can get him out for the final matches they should be the fav to finish in one of the top spots. With that said I am intently watching these teams knock each other off. I would think if we go 7-0 this weekend we are clinched but with so many one loss teams we will need to make sure and finish strong, we will do our best v. a good Fretz team this weekend.
With all that said our 4.0 MOW is in this flight with Brookhaven v. Village. Brookhaven did drop a match this weekend but their playoff life is on the line and they are slim at singles but very good at doubles. This is a tough pick to make but I like the Village in this one since the Village has found some good doubles pairings that can match up with BH and they are good at singles even without Kyle although if he shows this is a slam dunk.
Flight B
This flight seems all but decided now as long as OC or High Point/Somabut don't fall asleep. HP plays an upstart LTF B team who might give them a scare for about 10 minutes but it should be 5-0 when all is said and done.
Flight C
Not much interesting here either as Brookhaven/Pearlman can all but seal a playoff spot with a win this weekend. Eagles Landing keeps squeaking by and remains in 3rd but according to Eddie they will struggle this weekend v. Hackberry. I see Eagles Landing getting it done 3-2 and keeping the Eagles Landing v. LTF match something worth watching.
Flight D
This packed flight is starting to take shape as the Lakes and Greenhill seem to be the class of the group with TBar close behind. Brookhaven who looked like a contender has to get past Stonebridge to keep thier hopes alive and I think they should get a win since Stonebridge seems to be falling apart. The top two teams play the bottom two teams so there is a chance for huge upsets but don't see it happening this week. (just kidding go High Point/Loyd, take out the Lakes Baby, we will be adding 8 new players to John's roster in the morning)
This is kind of a dead week for 4.0 I am interested to see how that Hackberry v. Eagles match goes down. I am sure HP/Bazan will do enough to squeek by with a 3-2 win and amazingly Noaman and Kent will lose. Next week looks to mean a lot more, but that could change with some big upsets. Good luck to all.
ReplyDeleteHackberry will go undefeated from here on out.
ReplyDeleteFor you guys voting on the Eddie vs Cary match,
ReplyDeleteEddie is indeed playing left handed,
I credit him for his determination and moxie in trying to master the "Leftness".
But this match up is essentially between a 3.0 and 4.0 player.
Anything less that 6-1, 6-1 for Cary should be an embarrassment.
I bet Eddie gets more than 4 games. Eddie has been playing very well left handed and can surprise people. Watch out Bazan :)
ReplyDeleteForrest
Why should we be shocked that LBH beat brookhaven?
ReplyDeleteBazan if you can't double bagel a guy playing with his opposite hand you should quit tennis.
ReplyDeleteThe reason I was shocked by the LBH win was we have played both teams and Brookhaven showed talent especially at doubles. I guess the only thing that makes it less shocking is they seem to be really light at singles. Boccara has slipped a little and then they are using a singles by committe for the other spot. Anybody have any thoughts on Brighton's game. I watched him and Sunny play and it was the wierdest match you have ever seen. Brighton seems to get by on pure athletic ability, if he gets some lessons he will be very dangerous and works on his serve. BTW: very nice guy.
ReplyDeleteAha! Eddie didn't tell me he was playing lefty. That is awesome, I was going to feel bad beating up on a cripple. But don't count out Eddie for those of you that have seen me play singles I am not much higher than a 3.0 lately. I am actually dead last on our team ladder and that includes both our teams put together. Ouch! I look forward to having Eddie out to our practice though, anyone else is welcome tonight as well, BYOB or hope for leftovers.
ReplyDeleteI just got through watching Rafa take out Gulbis at Madrid Masters. My lefty game is all fired up. Vamos Rafa. Vamos Eddie. Rafa and I are both former righties that will take victory today. Eddie.
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of Sunny, what happened to him last Sunday?
ReplyDeleteVictory for Rafa...None for Eddie. Cary took me and my left handed game out to the woodshed. 6-0 6-1. I am not ready for the big time or the small time for that matter. I think I need to appeal down to 3.0. Hmmm. Well it was fun I guess. Thanks for waiting Cary. You won't see me in any LTF line-ups anytime soon.
ReplyDeleteEddie
Well Eddie you still beat me on the polls, so you got a victory there. Good having you out tonight, I actually got two wins a singles tonight which for me is miraculous although Leonard walloped me right before our match.
ReplyDeleteWhat was the score?
ReplyDeleteLike I said Cary - if you can't beat a guy playing with his opposite hand 6-0,6-0 - you need to quit tennis. Hang it up man.
ReplyDeleteWill you buy my racquets, I have dta socks and tape measures you can buy off me as well.
ReplyDeleteIt was wierd playing Eddie I am actually surprised he didn't get a couple of other games off me because I had no idea what was coming back over the net and maybe Eddie didn't either. His backhand lefty slice is actually a good shot, it stays low and stays short. I guess that was the main thing I was ready to stand back but everything was landing short on me, he actually had a few game points so it would have been closer.
ok
ReplyDeleteYOU STILL DID NOT GIVE US THE SCORE!!!!!!!
OK
ReplyDeleteCary Bazan 6 6
Eddie Hill 0 1
Got it,
I beat him 0 and 1 also,
but did not have the heart to put it on the ladder,
Cary you have no heart!!!!!!
Hello. Read Eddie's comment above 10:21pm. 6-1 6-0
ReplyDeleteWho cares!!! Two bad players. Nice guys.. but Lefty Eddie and Cary just make for 2 bad players.
ReplyDeleteI hear Lifetime does not have full complement of players this weekend and could have a tough time with better than advertised HP/Harrigan team. they seem to have strong singles lines and if Forrest is out that could be big trouble for Lifetime. Not to mention if Eddie is still playing lefty, he is done for the year.
ReplyDeleteI know I thought about not posting it but then I thought, I have NO HEART! HA HAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!
ReplyDeleteBTW I beat Anon 6-2, 6-2. suck on that!
FYI after 2 beatings this week. I am done with Lefty Tennis. I will be able to start hitting with my right hand in 3-4 weeks. Time to focus on Captaining our team to the City Championship. Eddie
ReplyDeleteNot sure where you got your information but Lifetime has a full crew this weekend. You are right about HP being a good team. Team Eddie never looks down the road and always puts their focus on each team at hand on a week by week basis. Forrest
ReplyDeleteWARNING:
ReplyDeleteThe Anons are getting restless.
Who cares about the ANONS that have no game anyhow. Let's talk tennis from guys that have some game. Lifetime will win out and play HP/Bazan or Brookhaven/Pearlman in the final of DCC. Let's talk about who will win that match because at the end of the day that is all that really matters. Everyone else is just trying to get exercise on Sunday afternoons.
ReplyDeleteI saw Lifetimer playing tennis with Elton John. Elton was kicking his butt. After the match lifetimer left arm in arm with Rosie O'Donnell.
ReplyDeleteFunny, but don't get mad because your season will end in 2 weeks and Lifetime will be playing for all the marbles Oct 23rd. Another disappointing fall for you and time to put away the racket til March. It's ok. You can come to the DCC and root for us. We do not turn away fans of lesser talent.
ReplyDeletelifetimer,
ReplyDeleteYour comment about " playing for all the marbles on Oct 23rd" shows how far Lifetime is from being a legitimate contender. Most of the strong teams could care less about the Fall season. They feel "all the marbles" is at the end of the Spring season, which by the way, Lifetime has never advanced out of the City playoffs.
Cary, I think it is time for teams to start posting match locations and times on the blog. everyone is so convinced of victories and such that i'm sure others would enjoy the opportunity to see some good tennis. Plus that way you wouldn't have to sneak/lurk around to scout anymore.
ReplyDeleteRockettman
Lifetime/Hill vs High Point/Harrigan is Sunday, October 19th at 4:00PM at HighPoint.
ReplyDeleteGet there early, this match should be over by 5:00PM.
I agree that it will be over by 5 but that match is at Lifetime
ReplyDeleteMy bad, that Red Sox game and TCU game had me up extremely late last night.
ReplyDeleteMatch is at Lifetime. Need to go back to sleep now. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
someone is claiming to be me, but I did not make those last 2 posts. I am the real Lifetimer. Not sure who that was obviously they did not even get the site right??? Weird. See everyone wants to be a Lifetimer.
ReplyDeleteHP v. Fretz 1:30p
ReplyDeleteHP/Loyd v. Lakes 2p
Both at HP
See you there Rocketmann?? We can talk about your contract demands for next Spring...
FYI: I will be on the sidelines looking for a match if anyone gets done early
Cary,
ReplyDeleteThere may be a chance that i will be free to play, but i have to be fresh enough for mixed later or i will take a beating from the wife.
Rockettman
Rockettman,
ReplyDeleteIf you can't play Cary and still be fresh for mixed then our wife should probably beat you anyways. (I've never seen Cary play but I still enjoy giving him a hard time)
If you want to see some decent tennis you could always go to TBar M at 12:30 today and see your Dallas 8.5 team beat up on the sad Ft. Worth team.
