Flight A
My team will stay on the couch this Sunday and let the rest of our flight for scraps as LBH takes on the Village with the winner having an inside track to 2nd place. (Village wins here) Springpark takes on Fretz, don't sleep on them Jim, Dan and his crew come to play and BTW are great guys. (Fretz scores the upset 3-2) Brookhaven takes on JCC so they have a chance to stay in the mix for sure. (Brookhaven wins 3-2) In the battle of the bottom Canyon Creek takes on Nasty Garland. Both teams have a couple of good players but I like CC in this battle.
Flight B
OMG! Has this flight got interesting again all of sudden. It was looking like a boring fat lady just sung flight and then the Village B team scored the upset of the year over OC/Smith. WOWOOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOW! I still can't belive this one. Now Durddy Garland is back in the mix as is LBH/Hicks. LBH actually controls their destiny because if they win out they are in. I have always been perplexed by this LBH team, when at full strength I think they can play with anyone but they tend to lose close matches. I do see them taking out OC this Sunday but losing to Garland the following week which would send Durddy Garland to the playoffs. OMG! Say it ain't so. Lost in all this is HP who snuck by the LTF B team this Sunday with Newman and Voss losing at doubles??? Oh yeah if you didn't know the MOW is LBH v. OC. I will try and be there.
Flight C
Last week for this flight and ho hum Team Eddie and Brookhaven Pearlman are clinched and hmmm, who cares anymore, 1st is up for grabs but seeding shouldn't be that big of a deal especially not knowing where we will all land quite yet. BH/Pearlman with a win would secure the #1 seed but if Team Eddie is in their flight that might be the worst seed to have.
Flight D
Ok last week here as well and 4 teams fighting for 2 spots. Technically Bartlett is still in it but it would take some flight B craziness for that to happen. TBar is also a longshot but you never know what can happen.
Greenhill v. HP Loyd
Lakes v. Eldorado
TBar v. BH Bartlett
I like the Lakes and Greenhill to take these spots but I do think there is an outside chance that TBar sneaks in there if one of them wins 3-2.
Note to CARY.... 2 teams from the same flight during the season cannot be in the same flight during the playoffs. So you better be rooting against Brookhaven this weekend so you can avoid seeing LTF during round robin play. I think it will all work itself out correctly this weekend. As for this weekend I have it playing out like this.
ReplyDeleteFlight A.
LBH wins. SP wins, Bhaven wins and next week will secure the second DCC spot from this flight.
Flight B.
LBH wins. and I agree with Cary. Garland/Sisk and HP get DCC slots.
Flight C.
Hackberry beats BHaven. LTF beats EL. LTF wins flight. Bhaven #2
Flight D. Who cares...
Ok Greenhill and The Lakes win to make DCC.
Well, Cary says the top 4 seeds are 1. Brookhaven 2. Lifetime 3. HP/Somabut 4. Greenhill
ReplyDeleteIn that case we will put those 4 teams in the same flight a the DCC and put HP/Bazaan and the bottom 3 teams in the other DCC flight.
Cary's suggestions for the fall flights seem to go well(for him) so we will just stick with his suggestions again for playoffs.
Good luck to all.

Dallas Tennis Association
Jane and Brian,
ReplyDeleteWhen are you guys going to publish something regarding how teams are seeded and placed into flights??? A lot of players would like to know. Or are you ashamed of how it is done???
A simple explanation on your website or an email to captains would be appreciated.
she doesn't read this and that wasn't her retard
ReplyDeleteOh. then that is pretty funny.
ReplyDeleteSeeding won't matter. Lifetime has the best team and will show it that weekend. We probably want to see HP/Bazaan in Final so we can shut up Cary and his 16th player. Can't wait for that weekend to get here. Have to feast on some Eagles this weekend. Tell "the real" Steve Kent he better get on the treadmill for the next 30 days. Forrest Feuille is the "real" deal.
ReplyDeleteHow did OC screw up their number one seeding?? .... CAPTAIN ERROR... that's okay, you were trying to play everyone. It happens. Just have to play more matches to win it now though.
ReplyDeleteLifetimer,
ReplyDeleteLifetime is a joke. Forrest will be getting whipped weekly in 4.5 next year, so he will be of no help to you next Spring in the "real" City Championship. We have all heard this before. Pleeese do something before beating your chest. Otherwise you just look stupid. By the way, winning the Fall DCC would not qualify as doing something to any serious player.
That's ok. We will still be Fall DCC champs and set for the Spring DCC and on our way to being TEXAS Sectional Champions. Just a matter of time now.
ReplyDeleteBest of Luck!
ReplyDeleteno luck needed for Lifetime to make it to Sectionals next year. they have the best team.
ReplyDeleteLifetimer,
ReplyDeleteBefore being on the the way to Texas Sectional Champion you first have to win the Spring DCC. So far that has eluded Lifetime. Maybe that should be your first goal, or possibly even getting to play in a Spring City Finals.
Good idea. 4 step process. Win Fall DCC. Win Spring DCC. Win Sectionals. Win Nationals. Your right we should take it one step at a time.
ReplyDeleteNow you're talking!
ReplyDeleteGrasshopper,
ReplyDeleteSorry, I meant Lifetimer,
Just remember in your four step process:
Step 1 means absolutely nothing in acheiving the other three.
Step 2 is where your team has had their problems in the past. Even so, you must successfully complete step two before moving to steps three and four.
Very important to remember that you are not allowed to pass over steps just because they are unattainable.
Lifetime is a joke and their deushe director Holland is a joke. He sux and should be on the 4.0 team but that wouldnt help them much
ReplyDeleteJane thanks for your thoughts earlier you should have mentioned to anon that the DTA did note how the flights would be determined on our schedule. It says seeding will be done based on Tennislink standings. So I would assume W/L then winning percentage since we don't all play the same amount of matches. The only trick is will it be seeded 1,4,7,8 or 1,4,6,8. Which makes more sense?
ReplyDeleteWe are seeded 2nd now and can't catch Pearlman's team unless they lose so I honestly don't care all that much, I think even if we lose we would end up in the flight with the 2 and 3 seed teams. It will be tough but we can kick back on Sunday AM. Lifetimer you are free to come out and support us after we knock you out on Saturday.
I actually feel kind of bad that the 4.0 playoffs will be so one-sided but I as someone said early "I have no heart."
I like the 1,4,7,8 and the 2,3,5,6 being paired together in the initial round robin. It gives a dominating teams something to shoot for; however the flights are never even in the eyes of the blog so that may be giving #4 as much of an advantage as they also won their flight.

Rockettman
Cary must be kidding if he really thinks his team will dominate. They have a couple strong singles players, but doubles are very week for them. I know it is a given that Steve and Noaman have been dumping games and matches, but HP/Bazaan is just barely getting by in the weakest flight. Four 3-2 wins I think. Are you kidding me. Lifetime has an ACE at Line 1 singles and has dropped like 6 sets total out of all doubles lines played this season. That's sets!!!! Doubles lines are combined 16-2 this season. Are you kidding me. It won't even be close. Lifetime will not drop more than 2 lines total during the entire DCC, let alone during one match. Unless of course Eddie decides he needs to protect the records of a couple of guys that may get bumped. I am sure Eddie would claim to never do that, but he has to think about the spring. Anyway, Cary is nuts and will get his nuts handed to him if he has to play Lifetime.
ReplyDeleteTo the Anon who said that Forrest will get whipped weekly in 4.5, ARE YOU SERIOUS? What would make you think such a thing? He has a great track record in 4.0 and is in the top 5 ranking in the state. The guys who finish that high usually do well in the next level. He might not dominate like he does in 4.0, but I think he will do quite well. YOu say that winning the fall will not do anything for any serious player, then you are stupid. It gives you an automatic slot in the Spring championships. If you are such a serious player, please let us know who you are and challenge Forrest to play. He would whip your ass 0-0.
ReplyDeleteThe only people that talk negative trash about Forrest are the ones that have never played him. Let me tell you from experience. He doesn't blow you away with anything is his game. He is just very good at all phase and does not make mistakes and pressures you into mistakes with his depth and accurate shots. Strong first serve, good 2nd serve. Good fitness. He will end the year the #1 4.0 player in the state after Elite 8 in Austin is over.
ReplyDeleteI think Forrest will do fine at 4.5 tournaments, finishing with a .500 record, maybe better.
ReplyDeleteThe problem for him will be league tennis. His game is very solid, but you need a weapon to beat the top 4.5 guys as most of them are closer to 5.0.
Interesting. In all reality, no one is going to challenge Forrest to play. He has lost all of two total matches this entire year.
ReplyDeleteBut the 4.0 playoffs should be interesting. There, the real #1 singles players should be matched up with him and let's see who comes out on top.
Personally, I like Forrest, but I believe that Fernando Ontiveros has too big a lead for Forrest to catch him especially if they meet in the semis or finals.
There is one player that no one is talking about, that many think will give Forrest a serious run for his money in the playoffs. That is Greenhill's Fernando Contreras. He did put a beatdown on Don Buford recently by winning 2 and 1.
Forrest can't hang with me STEVE KENT. STEVE KENT can't remember the last time he even dropped a set. STEVE KENT will dominate the fall playoffs.
ReplyDeleteWhat about Jerry Defeo?
ReplyDeleteJerry would take Steve something like 3 and 2.
ReplyDeleteDefeo is a non factor. His team won't be in the playoffs, so it is not worth talking about. He is definitely not a 3.5 and he would get beat down by Forrest
ReplyDeleteCary will chicken out as a captain anyhow if they meet Lifetime. He will dump line 1 and hope that Noaman can win line 2 and put Steve on Line 3 Doubs to hope for a win. Either way HP/Bazaan losses to Lifetime 4-1 at best.
ReplyDeleteI love trash talk, but this is a bit much. I think Cary actually got it started this time. None of this means anything and it will all be settled on the court in 4 weeks. Lifetime has the best team by far and should win. Just like Springpark and HP had the best 2 teams in the spring. They won and went to sectionals. And for all the trash I talked, those 2 teams were just a hair better than us. Sectionals requires more high level depth and neither of those teams had that so they lost. Simple Math. I am not sure HP/Bazaan even has the second best team so it is funny to me that Cary is talking trash. See you all in a few weeks at City. Boy do I wish I could play. Eddie
ReplyDeleteEddie,
ReplyDeleteYou had a very good team last Spring, but you were more than a little behind Spring Park and HP. In the semiifinals if you don't flip your singles to protect your stud Forrest you lose both singles badly. Your only other win was a third set tiebreaker. Closer to an 0-5 result for Lifetime than a win. I think HP had better singles players with Keller and Icepick or Jean Nyguen and better doubles across the board. How many MZs did LT doubles win this year?
Our doubles teams won as many as they entered. 0. So what does that mean??? I could argue the other side of that as well. I should have dumped line #1 singles and played line 3 doubles and we would have won that line??? who knows. Fact is we lost 3-2 to both SP and HP. I saw all players from the 3 teams and those 2 were just a hair better than us. We won't even get into that fact that I had been out for 5 weeks prior to playoffs and the impact that had on my play. We did not have the depth in the spring that we have now even with me out of the line-up. We are just a much better team now than then. Again. We will see in 4 weeks. Eddie
ReplyDeleteLifetime came up a bit short last year, but it seems like they are blowing through people this year minus the week 1 loss to Brookhaven. The doubles teams are switched around with no one team playing a consistent spot and they are winning hands down. It doesn't matter if they have not won any MZ's because they are always pairing up with different players. Forrest won at least two MZ's....so what is your point??? Closer to 0-5 just shows that you are stupid and bitter for some reason. YOu are probably on one of the teams that lost to Lifetime in the Spring. I think that they will do well in the DCC and in the fall even if they lose Forrest.
ReplyDeleteHigh Point Bazan will clean up at singles at DCC.
ReplyDeleteClean up the scraps that Lifetime will leave behind. They will clean up their hurt feelings after they lose to Lifetime.
ReplyDeleteToo bad you need some doubles lines to perform as well
ReplyDeleteLTF 2008 - Tikashi, Taillait and Hill + Mudsam (coming off injury, Harris (unknown never played tough matches) Diano (mid level 4.0 singles player) Brinkman (injured) BMO (don't get me started) = the great LTF Fall 2009.
ReplyDeleteAre you f***ing kidding me? Their team in the Spring was better. Eddie I know you want to pump up your guys but you lost your best dubs player and your 2nd best, maybe best singles player (you). Great effort but it I think you might be outgunned and come Spring with no Forrest, eek!
Lifetime has only 1 great player, and Forest won't be around next season. The rest of the team is average at best. If they don't win the fall they won't even sniff the playoffs in the spring.

ReplyDeleteHigh Point Bazan will clean up at singles at DCC.
October 22, 2008 3:32 PM
Do you think that they will beat everyone and not lose a match at singles??
Check the record on Talliat from Spring 3-2 I think. Takashi's record not as good as Brinkman's and Brinkman is in town for matches every week. Brinkman is fine and back on the court Tuesday. Forrest in essense replaced Eddie. Diano is 4-2. Mudsam is now back to full strength because he did not rush back and took the time to heal. Harris is one of top 4 Doubles players. Fall team has much more depth and better talent. May be a small drop off with Eddie replacing Forrest in Spring 2009, but rest of team is much better. Just watch Fall DCC. Lifetime will Dominate.
ReplyDeleteLifetime has a 25-5 record with all lines played this season. They have 13 active players on roster and after this weekend all are eligible to play in DCC. 25-5 and soon to be 30-5. No other team is even close to that. Seems like a pretty balanced and successful team.
ReplyDeleteSomabut will get some of his players back at the end of the year. His team will dominate like always.
ReplyDeleteWon't make a difference. They will be lucky to get out of round robin play with no chance of beating Lifetime.
ReplyDeleteCary,
ReplyDeleteCan we make a poll on who is the most annoying posters on the blog.
1. Nancy Noel
2. Team Lifetime
3. Sisk and Company
4. Bazan
5. Anonymous
My vote is lifetime in a landslide.
anonymous wins in a landslide...but with that I must say....GO Lifetime!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat will all you haters do with yourselves when Lifetime actually wins the DCC next month. What will you have to say then?? Wait til the spring I'm sure.
ReplyDeleteAll the Fat Sisk and Dirty Garland talk is the most annoying.
I think Nancy wins this one in a landslide. His "I am so great" things gets annoying.
ReplyDeleteI told you Lifetime is number 1. In EVERYTHING!
ReplyDeleteCary, how about a thread for the upcoming Masters? That is interesting to talk about.
ReplyDeleteAnything is better than this endless lifetime blather.
lifetime will destroy you.
no you will not.
yes, we are the best. we are great.
no way man. we will win.
never happen. our record is 452-3
oh yeah.
my dad can beat up your dad
take it back
you take it back
somebody kill me now. I can't take this chatter anymore.
I agree. Let's get a thread going about the Masters
ReplyDeleteNancy Noel is clearly the most annoying poster. Sisk and company are a close 2nd.
ReplyDeleteYes, we definitely need a poll.
Most annoying things on earth:
ReplyDelete1) Nancy Noel
2) Barack Obama as president
3) Cowboys and their recent stinkiness.
4) Liberals
5) Liberals
yeah. That conservative President we have in office now has done such a great job.
ReplyDeleteI hate peope that vote blindly for any platform. Be it liberal/conservative/demo/rep. You have to be an idiot to do that.
ReplyDeleteUse your mind!!!! Evaluate the issues, the candidates, the impact. Vote for what will do the most good for the most number of people and move on.
LOL - you must be a democrat or a low income individual. Republicans would say listen to the issue and vote what will do the most good for You and your family - screw the masses.
ReplyDeleteI really don't care who wins the election - we are screwed either way. I predict a 1 termer coming.
I see no difference in Nancy Noel and the lifetimers. Neither can post a thread without at least once talking about how great they are.
ReplyDeleteWhy do I have to be low income to give a shit about someone other than myself. I actually make in the top 5% of income earners. I just believe that those with the most gifts should be the most willing to share those gifts.
ReplyDeleteI think you people are confusing me with "Corey Noel". I have talked about my team but not myself. I am great though :). Go Lifetime!!!
ReplyDeleteI agree with Coredawg (although I have no idea who he is). GO LIFETIME!!!!
ReplyDelete"Why do I have to be low income to give a shit about someone other than myself. I actually make in the top 5% of income earners. I just believe that those with the most gifts should be the most willing to share those gifts."
ReplyDeleteThere is a provision in the Internal Revenue Code for you to voluntarily give that to the Federal Government. How much did you voluntarily give to the Federal Government in the last 12 months... or ever?
6:41 poster is right on with this. If the federal government takes the money it is not a gift. How much did you give?
ReplyDeleteFeel free to give 100% and since you have the more than 95% of us, you need to give until you are at 50%. That is only fair.
Master's Thread! Master's Thread! WE WANT A MASTER'S THREAD! And while you're at it, bring back the McDonald's McRib. Bring it back! Bring it Back!
ReplyDelete*NEWSFLASH"
The McRib is now officially back! Alright!
Now, what's up with that Master's Thread? My prediction in 4.0 is Fernando Ontiveros. yeah, I know everyone and their mama will predict Forrest, but heh, I hate to go with the majority.
Hey smart ass. I paid over 50k in taxes and donated over 20k to charities. When I said gifts, I was not just refering to money. Our church has a saying that may help you understanding. "Be generous with your time, talents, and treasure." Being a "smart ass" does not make you smart. Challenge you mind for the good of others versus the entertainment of your ego.
ReplyDeleteYour right. Move on to tennis. Didn't mean to get into a back and forth. My point was don't corner yourself into liberal/conservative or whatever. Look outside yourself, have a thought process, do what you know is right, and be willing help others.
ReplyDeleteOk, back to Tennis. GO Lifetime!!!
Paid over $50K in taxes??? Good for you, I think you need to pay more. You really need to pay until you are at the median. Until then, it is not fair. Not fair I tell you. We need to spread the wealth; it is better for everyone...
ReplyDeleteThe good news for you is... this year you probably are in little danger of paying capital gains.
I am gone several days and come back to politics and who pays enough in taxes? Dallas tennis must be really boring right now.
ReplyDeleteMy prediction is I think in the end Somabut somehow wins the fall.
Don't say that. I hate to hear that again. I do think they have a strong team, but Lifetime finally wins something at 4.0 level this year.
ReplyDeleteIt will be interesting to see who gets paired in the two groupings. I think if they are in seperate flights, there will be a Forrest-Ontiveros final with Forrest winning it all.
ReplyDeletehey, don't sleep on dutchover, he did win it last year in the 3.5. I can't remember the last time someone finished number 1 in 3.5 and had a chance to do the same the following year in 4.0.
ReplyDeleteThat would be quite an accomplishment.
Or just means he didn't belong in 3.5 last year.
ReplyDeleteI bet Voss/Newman go 3 sets in every match they play at masters.
ReplyDeleteTourney fans, feel free to send a posting to me and I will put it up:
ReplyDeletebazan.dean@gmail.com
Or just send me your thoughts and I will form them into something because I don't even know when this tourney is.
Dutchover is a good player but I think he has a greater advantage when heat is a factor(due to his fitness and playing style). The Tyler MZ was played in pretty tough conditions and after several long matches he looked ready for a jog in the parking lot at Tyler Swim. The Masters will be played in fall weather with 3rd set tiebreakers. I think Forrest is a safe bet.
ReplyDeletehp bob hp bob hp bob
ReplyDeletepretty much says it all in the fall, may be a couple of 3-2s but no real threat to lose
Lifetime wins DCC and with a 18-2 line record for the weekend.
ReplyDeleteForrest wins 4.0 Masters Nov 7-9th.
hp bob had a 2-3 oh how could that be?
ReplyDeleteI have to agree with the 10:13 poster. That just means he is yet to be playing at the appropriate level. Finishing #1 at a level is not impressive, it just means you are the best cheater. I could probably (and I emphasize that word) finish #1 in 3.5. Would that be impressive? I would rather be middle of the pack 4.5 than top of the heap 4.0.
ReplyDeleteCongrats Coredawg - mission accomplished.
ReplyDeleteCoredawg. You are going to have to get another handle. Everyone includng myself confuses you with Corey Noel. The casual blogger, unless you say weekly you aren't Nancy, is going to think you are nancy. Maybe "Coredawg-NotNoel" keep thinking and try again. Handle snotjock is already taken, so you need to come up with a better one.
ReplyDeleteSpeeaking of which, when does 3.5 Nationals happen. Is it this week?
BMO...nationals is next weekend. It looks like everyone is going to make the trip. I hope we can bring home the trophy back to Dallas. I have a feeling we have a good chance. The key will be our doubles line-ups. We are going to have to win doubles at the net and the one up and one back crap is not going to get the job done! So, I guess we will all soon find out if we have the tools to win!
ReplyDeleteFYI..where are all the Garland Haters I need some motivation!
"Coredawg" is an HP guy that likes to give me crap from time to time. Trust me the name being similiar is no coincidence.
ReplyDeleteMaybe everybody confuses me with Corey because I am. I was the first and only one to post the results from our match today, so that should be proof enough. The results have still not been posted. I will post them later tonight.
ReplyDeleteLifetime wins 3-2 vs Eagles Land. Takashi beats Fueille and LTF sweeps doubs.
ReplyDeleteDid Brookhaven beat Hackberry?
What happened to that 5-0 sweep Eddie???
