Flight A winners:
OC/Branch (4-1 according to anon poster w/ a touch a drama)
Northwood
OC Bovermann
Greenhill
HP/Loose
No real shockers but the GH win was solid over a good Hackberry team. HP win was close but I like the JD pickup for them.
Flight B Winners:
Lakes
High Point/Pham
Royal Oaks
OC/Feldman
Springpark
OC win was very nice over a good TBar team. I know RO got back Molina but squeaking by OC/Juhn doesn't look all that impressive. Other results were expected.
Nancy's team is off to a good start with a impressive 5 - 0 win against Stonebridge. Stonebridge is not the strongest team but still this was a very good win. Nancy's guys only dropped one set the entire match and had a double bagel at #2 dbls.
ReplyDeleteSame deal with Lakes. LBH may not be the strongest team, but still a 5-0 win for a team that hugged last place for the last few seasons, is impressive.
ReplyDeleteYes, beating 4.0 teams 5-0 is quite an accomplishment. Get a clue slick, these are meaningless matches that no one cares about.
ReplyDeleteThere are a handful of 4.5 players in both Stonebridge and LBH. Don't label them 4.0 because they lost 0-5.
ReplyDeleteLakes win considering their history is strong, doesnt matter the opponent. Lets see if they can put 2 together.
ReplyDeleteAs much as I am happy to win 5-0, I have to agree with the 11:37 poster. There are two teams in my flight with more than 50 percent of their roster rated 4.0. I thought there was a rule in place that required 50 percent of players at level "to protect the integrity of the league."
ReplyDeleteI really wasn't impressed by any team this weekend, except maybe Branch. All other teams brought out weaker lineups than I was expecting.
OMG! LBH/Jones has a total of 2 4.5 players and 1 3.5 player on their team. I thought Country Clubs were only allowed the less than 50% rule.
ReplyDeleteThe fall league is getting watered down and the 50% rule is not being enforced. It's to the point that a lot of teams are having trouble fielding strong teams bc guys don't want to play in the fall bc of this issue. It is getting a bit out of hand.
ReplyDeleteI can see how it might be annoying if you come out to get a good match but there will always be large gap between 1st and last most of the time in a open age league and I don't think it is necessarily a bad thing. Heck it happens in tourneys too.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed our match against the 3.5team playing as a 4.0 team yesterday, they hung in there and allowed us to get on track for the season and I think in the long run it will help them as well.
Could be worse. Look at FW fall league. They only have 5 teams playing.
ReplyDeleteyep but they do have Lucky Thunder playing 4.5
ReplyDeleteIts going to come down to nancys team vs branches team for the fall championship
ReplyDeleteWRONG - Don't forget about Feldman's team. They are still very good and will bring it for the fall tourney, when it counts. I think Corey Noel's team has to show something in the playoffs before anyone can annoint them as a top team in Dallas. Feldman's team is one of the top teams in the state every year.
ReplyDeleteObviously if we show something in the playoffs we will be the top team in Dallas. I would argue that no team besides Branch has shown anything in the playoffs in recent years.
ReplyDeleteI do think the limited rosters of so many teams will make both flights wide open for the taking.
Who is Corey Noel? I thought he went by Nancy?
ReplyDeleteI have never heard of Noel being referenced as Corey????? That is really odd.
ReplyDeleteI have never heard of Noel being referenced as Corey????? That is really odd.
ReplyDeleteI think they are husband and wife. Man,he must get tired of her being up all night on this blog.
ReplyDeleteWatch out for Feldman. He landed the Buffalo on his team and with all that added experience (age) they will be tough.
ReplyDeleteOk, he was nice enough to let me on the team. Off to senior sectionals next weekend where I belong. Hope everyone enjoys the fall season.
