So it looks like 3.5 and 4.5 have the week off due to the Dallas Tennis Cup event (Anon #24's favorite event since it benefits the DTA and their programs) I have never played in it but everyone who has says it is a fun event.
I assume a lot of the 3.5 and 4.5 teams will choose to make up their Ike rainouts this week as well as Sr. Sectional conflict matches from last weekend. So I guess we will just keep an eye out for what comes up on tennis link over the weekend. Feel free to post any times of reschedules that you know about.
I think the 3.5ers are going to end up like the Houston? blog, where 3.5 isn't even mentioned anymore. Nobody posts anything. Like, what's the point?
ReplyDeleteAll of the ones posting got moved up and will begin to whine on the 4.0 thread. First it was Courtney, then Flora, then Harvey and now Defeo. Garland can't catch a break... although, I don't feel too bad about it.
ReplyDeleteCan you give us your picks and get a 4.0 stream going Cary?????
ReplyDeleteHP losses 3-2 to Village
Eagles Land wins 3-2 over Brook
The 3.5 match is Westlake vs Greenhill. Being played as rain out during the week. Good chances winner will take they flight.
ReplyDeleteThe DTA does not give a crap about League players. Anyone who goes to the Dallas Cup or donates $ to the DTA is nuts.
ReplyDeletei will not consider supporting the dallas cup until the dta starts communicating with league players. when will they start using a fair process for placing teams into flights? why did they stop using a round robin format for 4.0 playoffs?
ReplyDeleteBovermann and I will play our makeup match this week, as I'm sure other teams that missed their match will be doing. At least there will be some 4.5 tennis going on.
ReplyDeleteAvoid the Dallas Cup and give your contributions to worthy charities. Disabled vets, the blind, gravely ill, the Red Cross, etc.
ReplyDeletezzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
ReplyDeleteWestlake looks like the best 3.5 team in Dallas now.
ReplyDeleteWestlake is easily the best team. Harvey made a solid team outstanding.
ReplyDeleteI would expect Westlake to go all the way.
ReplyDeleteWestlake will probably win the fall but when they lose Harvey to 4.0 they will come back to earth and have to rely on 3 doubles wins.

ReplyDeleteWhat about Oakridge or Gleneagles?
ReplyDeleteI guess HighPoint is dead? I know they are not what they were in the spring but they still have some firepower. Of course, having to default a line last week may still have a lot of injuries.
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by a blog administrator.
ReplyDeleteWhy hate High Point? What have they done?
ReplyDeleteObviously HP/Jameson had a pretty good team in the spring but no ringers like Flora or Mudsam. The other HP 3.5 teams were only average at best.
I am not sure if we should be flattered or insulted. I am not sure I would make the top 8; I didn't even play in the city playoffs.
ReplyDeleteAs the previous poster said, we did not have any ringers; we had a good team but no ringers. If we are hateworthy, please let us know and feel free to send me a direct e-mail. You can find it on the Challenge Ladder. I certainly hope we can turn a hater to a fan...
Considering the injuries and the quality of the other teams, we overachieved. Flora, Courtney, Harvey, DeFeo, Delira, Mudsam, Tuorto, Morrison and Mahr were all better than anything we had on our team. Had Courtney not hurt his arm, then Garland beats us 3-2 and we are not really even competitive at the city playoffs. In reality, we were fortunate to even be mentioned.
Sorry to hear we are hated, feel free to let me know why you hate us and I will keep your identity to myself. We will consider it to the level of attorney client privilege.
It is amazing that Westlake is being promoted as going all the way, when they have not played an competition this year. Their match scores did not show how good their were, it show how little competition they had. Time will tell, but not at this time
ReplyDeleteHarvey has played 25 games and 24 of them he has won. Eddie Johnson is a very good #2 singles player. They have some good doubles teams. With one automatic win, 1 likely win and 3 solid doubles teams, they will be tough to beat.
ReplyDeleteI like Brookhaven to win the fall. They have two new singles players, Mark Cline and Mike Mitterer _ both are very good. Dbles teams Lamson/Milke and Waters/Deputla are always tough along with Gerry Hudson and others. This is a real good team from top to bottom.
ReplyDeleteDon't do it! Never trust a lawyer! PLUS, come on, we need an evil team somewhere to hate. I NOMINATE HIGH POINT!
ReplyDeleteGleneagles-Oak Ridge match rescheduled for Sept 27th. I guess we will find out if either 1 of them are any good. My guess is that with LB Houstons additions they are the team to beat in flight C. Samuel Grand posted an impressive win with only 9 players on there roster. In a few weeks we will know more all these teams.
ReplyDeleteBeat the rush, Hate High Point early.

ReplyDeleteI guess if you're going to hate us, we may as well give you a good reason to hate us. Time to scout the SMU boys!!

ReplyDeleteI don't know. I think that Wiley is getting bent out of shape for nothing. Hell, his own team coulda posted that just to prop up HP in disguise! HHPFL
ReplyDelete"Hate High Point For Life" I am going to get a logo made up.
The back is going to say They STEAL WALKERS FROM LITTLE OLD LADYS

ReplyDeleteLOL!!!! This is from the same anon. Just to get a dig in then, un-rebutted.
ReplyDeleteNancy Noel borrowed Greg Wiley's red skirt to play his match in the finals. See the picture. That is Greg Wiley's borrowed red dress.
HHPFL
Since HP has been nominated as the team to hate, we need to come up with a nick-name. "Dirty" is reserved for anything Garland. How about:
ReplyDeleteSmelly HP?
Slimy HP?
Cheating HP?
Ugly HP?
BFU HP? (Butt Ugly HP)
"Bender Observer" = Bill Kaiser LTF still whining about losing in2007. Creepy.
ReplyDeleteLet's go with BFU for HP. That's right on. I hate those guys too.
ReplyDeleteBut guys still focused on 2007 need to grow up.
High Point is the tennis farm. Bunch of smelling characters play there.
ReplyDeleteMostly it is just people that can't afford to play at a nice private club.
"Mostly it is just people that can't afford to play at a nice private club."
ReplyDeleteYeah, pretty much right on. I think they have a sign out front that says... "Hey at least our facility is nicer than Garland."
Seriously, I have met Wiley and he is a good guy. I also know that is not his skirt Corey wore. He hates red. I had to stand up for him the other day. Somebody said he eats shit sandwiches but I said impossible... he does not eat bread.
High Point is the nicest public facility in TX. Ken Sumrow is one of the best facilility directors in TX. I don't know where you get off, dogging High Point - but it is absolutely the best deal going for good courts, low cost, and well run.
ReplyDeleteHigh Point Rocks.
Let's hate LTF for a while
ReplyDeleteWhy can't Oak Creek get a little hate too? I heard some of their kids go to public school.
ReplyDeleteIsn't Gleneagles in the hood? I've heard it is on par with Garland.
ReplyDeleteI can say this about the Garland Gleneagles comparison. There are cars in the Garland parking lot that you just don't see at Gleneagles.
ReplyDeleteTrue, I doubt many cars at Gleneagles have 8-Track players or rent-a-rims.
ReplyDeleteNot sure where the "he dosent eat bread" comment came from regarding Wiley. By the looks of him he eats bread, pasta, donuts, candy, and drinks lots of beer... seriously dude, mix in a salad!
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by a blog administrator.
ReplyDeleteI don't know about anyone else, but I have a hard time seeing the ball at night due to the poor lighting at H.P.
ReplyDeleteI don't think it is the poor lighting for Wiley being unable to see his pecker.
ReplyDeleteMy name is not Kaiser, Kayser Soze maybe?
ReplyDeleteBender is on watch but not doing anything shady right now which means he is in the planning stages of doing something shady.
Is it cloudy outside?

ReplyDeleteMen’s 3.5 Flight A: Brookhaven (Kraemer) vs Canyon Creek (Jolly)
ReplyDeleteBrookhaven made up their match against Canyon Creek today that was originally canceled due to hurricane Ike. Brookhaven won, 4 – 1.
wow, quite the azz whoopping. you would think you would expect better from jolly. nice win BH
ReplyDeleteTeam Northwood is 15-0 in matches this season and 30-1 in sets. Who is the captain of that team again?
ReplyDeleteThe sad thing is we are probably still the underdogs going into the match with Branch. Any thoughts or odds?
ReplyDeleteOak Ridge Won reschedule with Gleneagles in a hard fought 3-2 win.Match came down to 2 tie-breaks that Oak Ridge Won.Impressive Samuel-Grand and Oak Ridge next week.I guess we will find out if Samuel-Grand is for real then.
ReplyDeleteI don't know who the captain for team northwood is but I bet he is humble and would never tell how great he and his 15-0 team are.
ReplyDeleteNorthwood is simply the best. Proof: 5 - 0 ass kicking we gave Oak Creek/Boverman. (Those guys were pathetic!)
ReplyDeleteIN NANCY WE TRUST.
Probably a 5/0 ass kickin' coming your way soon too!
ReplyDeleteNoel - Look at me! Look at me!
ReplyDeleteSomeone didn't get enough attention growing up...
My thoughts on Samuel Grand are that they have't been getting much attention, but are pretty solid for a small group of 9 or 10 nice guys. Brookhaven wasn't much of test, but had our CC team had a normal on day, the match count and set count would have been pretty even. I'll take a big part of the blame for choking away a decent lead in line 1 singles myself. Their strength is their singles lines, both capable of playing at 4.0 level with some area clubs. Their line 1 doubles can, as they stated themeselves run hot or cold. They were pretty hot this Satruday. If they are again next weeek, I predict a 4-1 win for them over Oakridge.
ReplyDeleteHear that Westlake in the makeup match with Greenhill 3.5 lost 1 line of doubles & 1 line of singles and it all boils down to 1 line of doubles being played during the week. Could get very interesting.
ReplyDeleteIf Northwood is 15-0 how is no one on this board questioning whether or not they are playing out of level? Oh I know the other teams are tanking to them. What if they go through the entire fall and only lose 1 or 2 matches, does that mean that they must be cheating?
ReplyDeleteJust making an observation considering the way yall typically react to good teams. If they are winning they must be cheating.
does that mean that Northwood guys may be doing most of the complaining on this blog. They go 15-0 and not a word.
ReplyDeleteMost of the players on this blog do not play 4.5 and really do not care about Northwood. It appears to me that Northwood is trying to scream loud to get credibility. Are they good? Probably but they seem to be peeved when they get called out like Corey's buddy Sisk and then they get peeved when they are ignored. It appears to me that it is Garland (and now Northwood) that was complaining about themselves... just for attention.
ReplyDeleteNorthwood IS way out of level. Guess who is behind it all?
ReplyDeleteGot to love those buzzing power grid lines hanging over the HP facility.
ReplyDeleteI was just posting to get something going on this blog. It has really gone dead this season.
ReplyDeleteCorey, we know. We have begun to suspect you were last season as well.
ReplyDeleteTo McHugh, You apparently dont know anything about Oak Ridge they have a solid lineup and should defeat Samuel-Grand. Before you make a bold prediction you should check the ability of the teams involved dont predict because your team lost.If you know alot about Oak Ridges weak players let the rest of us know since they seem to playoff bound again.
ReplyDeleteFair enough, I don't know OakRidge first hand, just making a personal prediction based on minimal scouting of USTA results. Predicting an underdog win is nothing more than trying to contribute to what appears to be some minial 3.5 posting going on, and giving "whoever" some kind of heads up about Samuel Grand in case there was any interested captains. I suppose unwaranted comments are pretty common since I only happened upon this blog when somone last season presumed to know my game, accusing Don Harvey of tanking a 7-6,6-7 match to me. They obviously didn't know me, or see the match, and I can assure you anyone on the Garland team that day would tell you Don wasn't hiding anything. Old news I know, but anyway, just trying to get invovled here.
ReplyDeleteGood job Bob. A little too nice about it though. Next time tell that poster to kiss your a** and go to he**!!!
ReplyDeleteOak Ridge = Grumpy Old Men
ReplyDeleteActually, many of us know McHugh and that is why they think Harvey was tanking.
ReplyDeleteOak Ridge should lighten up.
ReplyDeleteOh jeez, Oak Ridge has been skating by on luck. It will run out very soon!
ReplyDeleteSeems like Oak Ridge has it's share of jerks. Just my opinion.
ReplyDeleteFrom Ed Ratcliffe-Oak Ridge Captain, My team has not posted anything on this site in quite a while because of all the anonymous jerks that post here. My team just goes out and plays our matches. Any posting has not been by us.You jerks can say anything you want about us we dont really care. We will just go out and continue to Win. Tennis is not a game of luck so no luck was involved in any WINS by any team!!! As far as us being grumpy old men screw you whoever you are. As far as our team having a bunch of jerks I think your wrong because none of you are on our team!! To Robert Mchugh I hope your prediction about the upcoming match is wrong.I guess we will find out Saturday.
ReplyDeleteEd is the BEST tennis player I have ever watched play and extremely intelligent in his personnel life. The nicest man I have ever met.
