Nothing too exciting here. Some SA players took some big points.
Forrest Gray won 3.5 as Campos pulled a Justine Henin in the final and didn't play.
Anthony Jones takes the 4.0 draw somewhat easily.
Ben Hawkins takes 4.5.
Rodriguez takes out Green but falls to Reader in the semis who then loses to Brian Smith.
4.0 doubles:
Newman/Voss bounced in the first round. Team to watch from HP a new one though Kemp/Nguyen lose a 3 setter in the final, will we see that pairing next weekend?
Hey, I agree with most of what was said on the older post about pulling out of a tournament(Carlos). But Forrest played a good match against me in the semi-finals. Like I told him after his solid domination of me, my goal was to make the semi's this tournament anything extra would have been great.
ReplyDeleteBut in no way is any one taking that from me by saying I choked against him. I did put up a fight and I'm sure Forrest would agree. I didn't just roll over or pull out or even not showed up at all for the match. I took the strumming Forrest dished out and shook the mans hand after ward.
He was by far the better player and made his shots when I wasn't as we all can plainly see by the box score. My hat is off to him for that. but I did earn my way there and DID play all of my matches I was supposed to play and took the beating like a man. Instead of pulling out because I wasn't feeling good.
So if you wanna tell some one they choked maybe next time you ought to make it to Sunday or even through Friday before you start throwing things out. I may have been my first trip to a semi-final match in a major zone but it won't be my last.
And if your going to throw things out about people how about you sign them with a name as well. At least then you might show a little man hood by doing so.
Well maybe next time. Congrats to all the winners and to Forrest even if he didn't have to play in the Final.

Shamus,
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the semis. You are having a great 2008. I saw your game getting better in Waco. Way to go. Now its final 8 for you in Austin.
Way to go. You have worked very hard.
Enrique Molina
I don't know about Austin, though it would be nice to be able to go. Thanks by the way for the congrats. It would have been nice to see you in the draw but i think we all understand with the price of everthing going up.
ReplyDeleteWell hopefully I'll be able to play sectinals in Sept. Thanks again Enrique for the congrat. I finally came up with an excuse for loosing against Forrest. I can blame all of it on Mike Getz. Yep, he made sure I stayed out late on the river walk. Made me listen to some good jazz music too.
Maybe i shouldn't agreed to go with him down there in the first place.
i know he reads this so i have to give him a hard time because i'm usually watching him play on sunday....
