As much as I would love to be playing, it was nice to be asleep when guys were out playing this morning.
Should be some good matches today and depending on the outcome flights may get decided early but not likely with only 3 team flights unless we get some more lopsided results.
4.5s should be about done as of now setting up the showdowns for tomorrow.
Post what you know.
4.5 results in for the AM:
ReplyDeleteBrookhaven edges out HP/Martin. so many 3rd set TBs these teams were very evenly matched.
Royal Oaks rolled over Hackberry with only the cap losing at line 3. Molina gave a double bagel. OUCH! These scores look like these guys all had somewhere to be by 9a or 8:30 for that matter. It will be interesting to see if they can bring that level of game to their match with a very good OC/Feldman team tomorrow.
3.5
ReplyDeleteOakridge squeeks by Westlake 3-2
Within a third set tiebreak at Line 2 dubs of losing the match.
Greenhill 4-1 over Canyon Creek
How do you default a line in the play-offs> truly sad
T Bar M to cities
ReplyDelete4-1 over LB Houston/Spagnola
Go Flight A!
LBH/Jones did one better than LTF, they didn't lose a single set. Go LBH!
ReplyDeleteIf you're splitting hairs here, then LTF loss fewer games than LBH against Brookhaven.
ReplyDeleteNot splitting hairs, LBH's victory was more impressive than LTF's; it is lines, sets and then games. Games come in only if the sets lost is tied.
ReplyDeleteDoesn't really matter.
ReplyDeleteHead to head winner tomorrow advances and loser goes home!
Sayanora LTF - see you next season.
ReplyDeletei am officially retiring from predicting at least for today. I don't get the LBH loss to TBar. I have seen both play and it just doesn't make sense. what happened?
ReplyDeletewhat happened to flight A, steroids?
How bad is VJ's flight, not looking good right now. Of course neither is the flight I played in. Do Garland and LBH even bother playing?
I want to predict the LTF v. LBH match but I will just be wrong so have a good one guys.
zzzzz. been hearing that all season. Need some new material please.
ReplyDeleteOakridge barely beat a team that barely had enough players to even play. And then David P & his partner getting down to a 3rd set tie breaker against a line 3 team.. Not so sure that it is going to be a Oakridge vs Lifetime finals, but if so see Lifetime walking all over them.
ReplyDeleteI would have to agree. I don't know anything abot not having enough players to play???? I think that is confusion with the other CC team. Oakridge did have 2 very close matches with 2 tie breakers in their match, one of which fell their way... barely...
ReplyDeleteI thought for sure it was going to be a Lifetime v. Oakridge Final. Jolly looks too strong.
Cary, I would like to change my vote please. I would like to re-cast my vote for Jolly to the finals.
The main objective is to win when your not playing your best apparently Oak Ridge was not at there best today but won anyway. Any team in the playoffs is capable of beating another team.So all that matters is the matches tommorow. Today is done.Good luck to the remaining 4 teams still in the running. I dont thing Lifetime will win because Oak Ridge played a close match today. They wont take them lightly if they to meet in the final.
ReplyDeleteYes, it sure looks like Life Time 3.5 is playing a lot better than Oakridge. If Oakridge can somehow get past Canyon Creek/Jolly they will get blasted by LTF in the finals.
ReplyDeleteThe season ends tomorrow for the Oakridge boys.
Oakridge beat Lifetime ?
ReplyDeleteOakridge has not made it to finals yet & as others have said, don't count Jolly out. All I heard early in the week was Oakridge vs Lifetime by a landside. Now any team can beat any team since they are in the playoffs & taking other teams lightly. Sounds like it is going to be a final between X & Y.
I agree. Jolly looks too tough, and beat Westlake more easily. I like Oakridge boys personally, but I think Oakridge might have a tough time coming out of their flight. Jolly looks very strong.
ReplyDeleteLifetime needs to shut up with all these cocky statements though. It is rather obnoxious. Please review older 4.0 blogs against Eddie Hill for clarification about this.
Considering one of the main complaints is "Not enough matches" - I would think LBH and Garland would play for pride and to get a little extra uuumph ouf of their league dues.
ReplyDeleteNot everyone plays these things just to make it to cities or sectionals, we just want to play some good tennis and if playoffs happen they happen. Congrats to those who are in the cities, my team didn't even make the QT but I still enjoyed the season - except I wish there were more matches. It would seem dumb that 2 teams would skip a match just because they cant go any further - its about meeting people and playing tennis.
Royal Oaks better be careful with Gonzales I would imagine he is bordeline DQ right now. Molina crushing Bruno is impressive. Will be curious to see the line-up against Feldman.
ReplyDeleteAlso why did Phy Pham and Jean Nguyen not play for HP Martin?
If this is his bio:
ReplyDeletehttp://www.clubcorp.com/club/scripts/library/view_document.asp?S=NAV&DID=9021&GRP=10&NS=PCH&MFCODE=GLNCC&SUBGRP=77
His credentials (college experience) do seem strong for a 4.5 self rating, although it appears he was rated 4.0 a few years back.
Molina should have been DQ'ed long ago. He is not a 4.5 player. Half of Royal Oaks' team is 5.0, and half is 4.0. It always depends on which half shows up.
ReplyDeleteCary, maybe you should be not only apologizing to the top teams in flight A but also the teams that play those teams very close. It is looking like that may have been the strongest flight.
ReplyDeleteCould be like last year in 4.0. Two teams out of the same flight go to sectionals. Three out of the same flight at cities. With a wild card team in the other flight from HP, this is a good chance. Lakes and SP aren't that strong.
ReplyDeleteI will bet quite a bit that either SP or Lakes makes it to sectionals. I also think either HP or LT takes the other spot.
ReplyDeleteIt's going to be HP and SP at sectionals. The rest of you are playing for third.
ReplyDelete"Nancy" Noel . . . quit whining!
ReplyDeleteThe DCC brackets are already out. If LTF makes it they will be with SP and The Lakes in a pool. HP, TBar and Greenville in the other Pool.
ReplyDeleteLtf and Oakridge boys playing in finals. Both squeaked out 3-2 wins this morning w ltf losing both tie breakers 11 9. Won it unsophisticated lifetime fashion w 2 wins in singles and line 2 dubs. Morrison couldn't hold line 1 and lost to a really great line 1 team.
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteI'm with you BMO.
ReplyDeleteMorrison's a jack-ass.
He is always loosing!
Lifetime is just lucky they managed to keep all of their teeth!
congrats lifetime 4.0
ReplyDeletecongrats lifetime 3.5
ReplyDeleteIt was a pleasure to watch the various doubles play this weekend. They were truly good matches regardless of which team was playing. I don't think anyone walked over anyone. As to singles, I am nearly to a point of just saying why don't they just eliminate the singles part of this league & allow it to be a good event of 3.5 players. I am sure it will be the same at City as well. Same to see couple of good 3.5 teams hammer it out, and their team get defeated due to their 4.0 singles could not be the other 4.0 singles.
ReplyDeleteI watched the LTF 4.0 Match against LB Houston. I have to say congrats to JMarcus and Yoshi. Especially Jonathan though, who apparently was a diamond in the ruff doubles player, unbenownst to everyone. I watched the match and he looked GOOD! Takashi and Brandon played out of their heads, and quite possibly the best I have EVER seen either of them play.
ReplyDeleteEddie Hill won his with nothing more than will power, and that was the 3 lines for their final flight match.
Very impressive 4.0 LTF. To quote someone here earlier. Sayanora LTF 4.0.... cause your ship is sailing right into the DCC.
let me start it off for you Eddie. I want first crack.
ReplyDeleteLTF is going to get killed come DCC. Flight A is a weak flight.
Those teams can't hang with any of the teams from any of the other flights. They will be lucky to win 1 match.
Oakridge: 3.5 Match
ReplyDeleteLet me take a moment to thank Oakridge for a great match. They played well, and it was some exciting tennis. It is a shame we both can't make it. They had us where they wanted us, but then Ryan Curry pulled up short with cramps, and went from winning 5-3 in the 2nd set (after losing the 1st) to laying down on the ground, to losing 7-5 with zero mobility.
Enrique pulled his line back, and went from down 1 - 4 2nd set, to winning 6-4. Nice comeback.
LTF won 2 lines of singles again, and a line of dubs to pull it out with a 3-2 win in the finals QT.
Instead of saying I told you so.. I will take a minute to give props to our Lifetime teams for making it to the DCC. We had some guys really step up on our team to get through this weekend without a couple of very strong players that were out of town at family weddings. We even had a guy fly from Denver to Dallas on Friday, back to Denver Friday night and back to Dallas Sunday morning just to make his matches. Way to go LTF 4.0. see you all at the DCC. Go flight A. Eddie
ReplyDeleteLifetime is so gay. This ain't Wimbledon. Someone please knock them out so we don't have to hear from them anymore (although we probably still will).
ReplyDeleteTo Blogger: July 13, 2008 5:17 PM
ReplyDeleteDo you know how stupid you sound? You log onto a tennis blog website about local tennis, then you complain about people blogging about tennis, saying this isn't Wimbledon?
Do you also watch ESPN on tv and then complain that they show nothing but sports? what a moron.

ReplyDeleteCongratulations to Lifetime.
ReplyDeleteI'm guessing that team owes Wines wife a big thanks for leaving their vacation to play.
Rockettman
That was fun. :-D
ReplyDeleteMuch props to LB/Houston team, that was an amazing match. The team we were playing looked so "weak" in warmup, but as soon as the first point was played, they looked like world beaters.
It is great to be a part of both Lifeteam teams, as we get set to do damage in the DCC.
I don't know what it is about 4.0 League matches, but they bring out the best of me. It is so funny that all of these "Anonymous" that laughed and scoffed at Eddie for predicting that we would be in the DCC are all quiet now or moving on to their next prediction of what won't happen next for us.
This weekend was fun, and as you can see, Lifetime has great depth, when one is unavailable, someone else steps in and gets the job done, and the team just keeps on winning.
See everybody next week. :-D
Congrats Noel on the clinching win I assume today.
ReplyDeleteAlso shocked to see Royal Oaks destroyed Feldman. I truly think Gonzales will be gone next time the run the ratings. Shocked to see the #1 Doubles result against Durten.
It is too bad that Jonathan Marcus can't play on both 3.5 and 4.0 teams. Or see Jonathan Marcus play Jonathan Marcus. That would really bring out the best in him.
ReplyDeleteJonathan, don't hurt yourself patting yourself on the back.
What a guy!
Jonathan Marcus v Jonathan Marcus... that is must see TV but I sure hope it has a mute button.
ReplyDeleteOh leave Marcus alone. He won two playoff matches after starting the season out with a double bagel at 4.0 and two losses at 3.5. Nice comeback Marcus.
ReplyDeleteI agree.. leave him alone but that mute comment was pretty funny.
ReplyDeleteI agree Lifetime is gay,
ReplyDeleteThey are so gay that I saw then today playing in macrame shorts and listening to coldplay.
I look forward to defeating their singles ringers that hid from me earlier in the season.
Oh Snap,
ReplyDeleteWhat is up with this Lifetime Player?
http://tinyurl.com/5mfy8v
Is it a DQ?
Mystery Player?
Too Gay to be identified?
What is up?
That does look really wild. Blackburn and Morrison both won Doubles matches without partners.
ReplyDeleteImpressive
Congrats to Lifetime & Mark Ferrell for winning QT. We played as hard as we could today but you were the better team today, Good Luck next weekend in the playoffs and hope none of your players get DQd.There may be a few coming with the Garland team and there 4.5 ringers.I hope they get what they deserve. We have enjoyed playing you team 3 times with every match going right to the wire. Your team has some nice Guys and again congradulate you.
ReplyDeleteI saw the LTF vs LBH 4.0 match today and have to say I was impressed with how Eddie played. I did not think he was that strong a player and he should give some people fits at the DCC. Probably won't win his matches but he and the LTF team are building something that could be good. Their line 2 singles (Wines?) appeared to really be fighting inner demons against Cooper. A nice comeback but he looked awful in the tiebreaker. Huge props to JM and Yoshi?? for the 3rd win after Wines choked.
ReplyDeleteTheir line 1 doubles got destroyed and their line 2 doubles dominated. If their top doubles team was out then they could pull an upset at DCC with Eddie/Forrest (assume Wines is out as he can't hang with the DCC boys and why else did Forrest join that team?) and 2 good doubles teams.
Also, for all the blogging about LTF (you either love them or hate them), they are a bunch of good guys. Eddie just has fun out there (and with this blog) and losers like Wines were gracious in defeat (although he did look like the grim reaper sitting all alone on his bench 15 minutes after his match was over and most had left).
Congrats to all who made it to the DCC. I look forward to watching more good tennis since I am not playing.
Thanks new ar hacker. It was a very competitive match and I was really impressed with the lineup Brookhaven brought out. We were very lucky that Carl was in Oregon. However, I do think our doubles lineup on Sunday could compete with any 4.5 team in Dallas and win?
