Garland EVEN
Maybe I can curse Big John and the group again this week since my bad predictions cursed the 4.0 team. I do like their chances to grab one of the two spots. With the two super studs Flora and Courtney John now has to decide how and where to use them. Do they both play singles and then Garland hopes to grab a doubles line to get the win.
Oak Creek 3-1
I like this team but I don’t LOVE this team. I think they look pretty similar to about a year ago just some different names. If Yauch was with this team I would feel a lot better or a hammer at doubles like they have had in the past. Rivera is good but not sure he is a guarantee although that depends on who he plays with. Flores seems to be the mystery to me, I guess it is good he can’t play Prather who seems to have him figured out. Marc is playing solid and I think Phillip will be out there a lot so they will be in every match.
Lifetime 4-1
This team is about as good as their 2007 entry but last year they had good doubles play where as this year they are stout at the top with Mudsam and Tuorto. I got to see Chris play yesterday and he is solid and steady with a great serve. I didn’t see a shutdown doubles team and LTF seems like they shuffle partners a lot since maybe they are attempting to find a good combination. Yesterday in a must win Ferrell/Beck was playing line 3 and I am not sure that combo could beat anyone this coming weekend. I though Barron and Blackburn were unstoppable but they looked ordinary yesterday. (No offense guys, I have just seen you all play better tennis) I think Morrison is playing great and will be a vital piece to their success. (Ok BMo I take payment by paypal or by numerous clicks on the google ad sponsors)
High Point 5-1
I know they beat Garland but I am not slighting them at all. I think the top four are pretty even. They have some good doubles teams which last time I checked there are 3 doubles matches in league tennis so they will be a factor in every match no matter what the other team throws out in singles. I don’t think singles is a lost cause for them either they have a few that have some good history and might not be a bad thing to not be soley reliant on 2 guys at singles to carry you through 4 matches in 100+ degree heat.
Gleneagles 100-1
I set my limit at 100 so that is why I put it there. These are good guys but just don’t have the firepower to hang in this race. They aren’t 3.0s or anything so don’t think the will get swept 4 times but in a round robin format the top teams should not take them lightly.
I'm calling Vegas and putting $10 on the longshot Gleneagles to win the 3.5 DCC. If they win, you're going to be looking at a rich man. Beers will be on me.
ReplyDeleteHope all the DQ police are at these matches for possible DQs on Mudsam,Flora,Courtney and a few others.
ReplyDeleteWhat??? No love for your beloved High Point???? I admit that they are a bunch of spares but I thought you would pick them for sure. They are the worst undefeated team you will ever see. I predict that they are eliminated after match 2. They will lose to Garland then to Lifetime. They probably lose 3-2 on both.
ReplyDeleteanyone ever comment about men's open division on here?
ReplyDeleteNope. 95% of the people on this site couldn't fathom what open is like or begin to even know the players. Your just too good. Sit out a season or two, then appeal down to 3.5 and join the Garland team.
ReplyDeleteLOLOL!!!! I am sooo sorr, but I just couldn't resist!
You are presuming he could make Garland.
ReplyDeletePlease! John and I will be hitting the Challenger circuit next year for the 2009 Spring 4.0 season looking for some new players! I called Federer but he is currently injured.
ReplyDelete10:39 am poster..finally! someone with a sense of humor!
ReplyDeletehaha, 3.5 super stud
ReplyDeleteI am the 10:40 person and mine was meant as a joke too.
ReplyDeleteGood luck on the Challenger Circuit. If you do well enough, I hope to see you in the real circuit soon.
duh! they knew yours was a joke, but yours was 2nd! NOW that you think you had to explain yours was a joke, you have officially discredited your own joke.
ReplyDeleteI can see why the guy had to explain... The Garland boys can be a bit touchy.
ReplyDeleteOak Creek better not depend or place all the dollars on Flores even with Prather out. Flores seems to fade fast when he starts to get down in a set. He also plays a great number of tournaments & shown to have often injury.
ReplyDelete"Your just too good. Sit out a season or two, then appeal down to 3.5 and join the Garland team."
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely not necessary, merely cahnge the way your name is spelled and join Garland.
Where are the matchs being played for 3.5?
ReplyDeleteCopy and paste the link.

Screw you SNOTjock!
ReplyDeleteBecause TWO 3.5 teams make Sectionals the most important match next weekend will be Sunday 9:00 am Oak Creek vs Life Time.
ReplyDeleteGarland will win the DCC while going 4 - 0. No question about that. But the Oak Creek vs LTF match will determine 2nd place.
Oak Creek has the best team top to bottom _ with strong singles and outstanding doubles. But LTF has two awesome singles players and their doubles lines are pretty good too. So this one can go either way.
Lifetime will beat OC... easily. LT is going to Nationals.
ReplyDeleteEddie, Stop posting your 4.0 predicition on the 3.5 thread. We see it enough on the 4.0 thread.
ReplyDelete...and by the way, shouldn't you be reading the 4.5 thread as that is where you recruit most of your team. So tell us, how do you get these guys to want to play down? It kinda like talking a college team into playing at the high school level. You're good.
ReplyDeleteThe cheaters from Garland will easily win the 3.5 championship. That's not hard to do when you recruit 4.5+ players who were former HS stars. Hell, Courtney played #2 singles for Highland Park HS when they played in the state finals. Anyone who has ever seen Highland Park play knows that their top kids play at a 4.5-5.0 level. Many go on to play Div I tennis. And Flora is better than Courtney! So look for Garland to keep the scores close and roll on.
ReplyDeleteKinda makes a joke of the whole NTRP system.
When is Galand playing Lifetime in the 3.5 playoffs? I think it would be interesting to see the 4.0+ singles players battle it out.
ReplyDeleteGarland plays Life Time Saturday at 5:00 pm at Brookhaven.
ReplyDeleteLife Times singles players are outstanding, but Garland's 4.5 HS stars are still much better.
I am sure Oak Creek will beat Life Time for 2nd place.
ReplyDeleteMarc Klamecki is an outstanding player who plays his best in pressure situations. He can beat any 3.5 player in the tournament (except for the two Garland HS superstars). So look for Marc to win #1 singles.
Also, Oak Creek has the best doubles of all the teams in the tournament. They have a chance to win all three doubles lines every match. Against LTF they'll win 1 singles line and either 2 or 3 doubles lines. At the worst, Oak Creek beats LTF 3 - 2.
do you all find it funny the team complaining about Garland and their "4.5 players, now 5.0 players" is a group of guys who made a mockery of league tennis and won at the 3.0 level. It is one thing to go out and win that nat 3.0 title but then to cry when someone is doing exactly what you did just 1 year before.
ReplyDeleteyep OC probably does have some good dubs team but not as good as last year with players like Hughes, Spittell, Henderson, Schaffer, etc. Jens Vilestra is one of the most overrated players at 3.5, that backhand could barely hang in the 2.5 level.
ReplyDeleteI heard OC/Branch, TBar M, Royal Oaks, and Corey's team are filing a protest to get Courtney and Flora appealled to 5.0 because they are so scared Garland will win the DCC at 4.5 with those guys next year and Sisk playing line 3 dubs with rockjock.
ReplyDeleteAnonymous Poster,
ReplyDeleteDo you want cash or is a Check OK?
Thanks
But seriously,
It's going to be hot,
There are going to be a lot of matches to play,
Not all players may be available.
There maybe injuries.
There are no guarantees on anything here,
If Garland is missing a couple key players,
They are as vulnerable as anyone else,
I will say I feel bad for Gleneagles,
I don't think they have seen anything like what they will be going against every day this week end
I think Gleneagles can hang in there with some good teams and they may wins a line or two. But I don't think they can win 3 lines against any of the others. And you're right it will be jump up from the competition they saw in their flight play.
ReplyDeleteAnybody know when early ratings will be out? Do the ratings include recent tournaments?
ReplyDeleteI think that 3.0 team from last year pretty much disbanded. Only 4 players are on the HP team and a couple of those appear to be MIA and on the roster only. From all appearance, it appears to be Myers 3.5 team with some additions.
ReplyDeleteI heard that the Early Season Ratings might be coming out later today. I don't know if that's correct or not. ESRs do not take into account tournament matches.
ReplyDeleteI remember when Garland, the top team, lost their first round match 2 years ago on Friday, and were never in it after that. They have already lost to HP once. It would not surprise me if they lost again.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't make any predictions until after the first 1.5 days for sure. Things change.
I would not be surprised to see 3 teams with 1 loss each. It is a long tourney, with lots of matches.
New High Point captain, Pat Jameson, built a solid team this year but without any real ringers. His new players like Gabel, Hsu and Kappoor have not been impressive. He recently added a new singles player, Hung, who got beat by McHugh a 3.0 rated player. His last roster addition, Rodriguez, lost badly against Garland. All good players but they cannot stack up against the top players during the playoffs.
ReplyDeleteSomeone forgot to tell Jameson that you need a few ringers for playoffs. That's why High Point will not do very well this weekend.
To my new love of my life Mr. Anon poster from your 8:26 post..Please, You must at least take me do dinner and am movie before any mention of screwing. But, if that does not work well for you that's ok because your mother does not mind!
ReplyDeletePlease, quit your crying we have all heard enough of your snorting and slobbering yelps of despair.
I have not seen all of HP's new additions but the ones I have seen have been average to below average. Barring injuries or out of towners, I would be surprised if any of those guys make the lineup this weekend.
ReplyDeleteFANTASY TENNIS COMPETITION
ReplyDeleteHere are the rules: Pick any 8 players for your fantasy team but you must pick at least one from each team in the 3.5 Championship. You receive 1 pt for each game won by your players, 5 pts for each set, and 10 pts for every line won. Cary agrees to pay the winner $100.00
My picks:
1) Glenn Flora, Garland
2) Zack Courtney, Garland
3) Marc Klamecki, Oak Creek
4) Johan Mudsam, LTF
5) Chris Tuorto, LTF
6) Larry Rivera, Oak Creek
7) David Atlas, HP
8) David Dellinger, Gleneagles
or the lowest pt total owes Cary $100 for admin blog fees.
ReplyDeleteI have come to the conclusion, that it is a lifetime poser spouting off about Lifetime going to Nationals.
ReplyDeleteNothing like creating animosity towards a team before the playoffs. HOWEVER, I do see Lifetime being very strong.
To anonymous poser about Marc. Unfortunately, I have him picked 5th on the points chart. I can't wait for my money from Cary. I already emailed him my winning numbers. Thanks Cary!!!
Cary told me for Sectionals, he is giving out a new car.
I think he said something like pick out any car you like in the parking lot.... here's a crow bar. Congratulation and Good Luck!
Here is my list in no particular Order,
ReplyDeleteK. Mark. Slemon GlenE
Greg Wiley HP
Phillip T. Barnhard OC
Marc Klamecki OC
Brian Morrison LT
Johan Anders Mudsam LT
Zach Courtney - Dirty Garland
Scott Neeley - OC
I am not sure if it is a Lifetime poser or not. I recall BMO spouting off about going to Nats on at least one occasion.. before they lost to Oakridge and OC.
ReplyDeleteHow is Cary going to pay anonymous?
ReplyDeleteCary, you know me too well. I filed a grievance against Zack and Glen to get moved up to 4.5 so they could play on my team in the playoffs. Since they are 5.0 "superstars" they definitely could have helped my team win. Oh well, maybe next season.
The team that wins the Friday night match between Garland/High Point will win the DCC. I predict Garland 4-1.
Nobody is going to beat Garland for 1st place. For the all-important 2nd place Oak Creek and Life Time will battle it out. I just can't see HP winning any singles matches against the top teams. Who can play singles for them, Zhao? Hung? Chan? Don't see much there. Gleneagles . . . probably will win only a few lines all weekend.
ReplyDeleteDoes HP have any non-Asian singles players? I agree, it is asking too much to sweep doubles. Their doubles are awful good but winning all three lines is really too much to ask.
ReplyDeleteCorey "Nancy" Noel,
ReplyDeleteWhy do you always have your nose up the ass of the Garland 3.5 players? Go back to watching "brokeback mountain".
7:22 poster:
ReplyDeleteBecause I have respect for my friends and I won't stand idly by while they are badmouthed. I wouldn't expect somebody like you to understand the concept of friendship or loyalty.
Signed,
Nancy
Fight the Good Fight Corey.
ReplyDeleteSeriously, how much garbage can there possibly be spewed on one blog. From reading this... I can only tell that half of the players on Garland/HP/LT/OC should be DQ'd. I would be extremely amused if Gleneagles wins.
Well Nancy, we are all glad that the Garland cheaters and liars are sticking together.
ReplyDeleteNTRP POLICE
ReplyDeleteTime to move on!
1. Everyone that has actually seen Flora and Courtney play says they are far out of level.
2. Obviosuly some of the statements made by Garland supporters were not true. Such as when they told us Don Harvey was their best player and we needed to watch out for him. Or when they indicated Delira was comparable to their young guns. That was "damage control" and not accurate.
WE ALL GET IT. BUT NOW IT IS TIME TO MOVE ON.
Let's enjoy our playoff weekend. Everyone play hard and everyone have fun!
It is supposed to be very hot this weekend. About 97 on Fri and 95 on Sat and Sun. Which teams will do best in the heat? How will guys hold up when we play twice in a single day?
ReplyDeleteLife Time looks like they have a lot of young guys that are very physically fit. Maybe they will handle the heat and tough schedule better than some other teams.
Wouldn't it be great if we could get a Dallas 3.5 team to Nationals this year?
ReplyDeleteI think Garland has a chance. I say that because I think they could stack up well against Cary's 3.5 team from last year.
Glenn and Zack are better than Kyle and Ed. But also, I think Jacques, Danny, John, Phil, Pete Paul, etc are as good as Trae, Dennis, TQ, Leonard, Cary, etc.
Cary's team was very close so I think Garland will have a fighting chance to make it this year. Also, there might not be any 3.5 team in Texas quite as strong as Houston was last year.
GO DALLAS!
Yes, i remem spouting off about Nats too way back when, until my reality check slapped me in the face like a dirty dog last weekend.
ReplyDeleteQT had some TOUGH TOUGH teams. DCC should be more. Sectionals.... WOW...
Nobody goes undefeated this weekend in the heat. Nobody.
ReplyDeleteIf humidity and heat are anything like last weekend, teams better be really, really deep.
In the battle for 2nd place I think Oak Creek may have a scheduling edge over Life Time.
ReplyDeleteLTF has to play HP Saturday morning and HP will be fighting hard. However, Oak Creek does not play HP until the last match on Sunday. By then HP will have already lost 2 matches and they will be going to their bench just to give a lot of guys a chance to play. So Oak Creek will see some 2nd stringers in the last match. That could give them an edge in lines won.
Neutral courts could play a factor at the DCC. Liftime might not be able to perform well without Lionel Ritchie, Christoper Cross and other soft rock legends serenading them from the pool area speakers.
ReplyDeleteLet's hope someone burns a mixed tape of "Lifetime Pool Classics" and brings it out to the court.
That is definitely a disadvantage for Lifetime but with the gun range nearby it is a HUGE advantage for Garland...
ReplyDeleteTo Anon 7/16 @ 9:35am,
ReplyDeletelmfao
Thanks
Oh, it's Anon 7/16 @ 9:25am.
ReplyDeleteThat is some funny shit..but the funny thing is it is true!
ReplyDeleteFor the record I said that Harvey was the best player on Garland's team before they signed Flora and Courtney, and after he split sets with me in a match, and before he injured his foot. Back then, he was their best player. Now, obviously not.
ReplyDeleteGarland beat cary's team last year
ReplyDeleteI am bored of all the talk. Tomorrw the matches start.
ReplyDeleteLet's have some fun and great matches.
BMO, if you are bored stop reading. You post more than anyone.
ReplyDeletewow that was funny 9:35AM.
ReplyDeleteGarland 3.5 = a bunch of cheaters.
ReplyDeleteSNOTjock = total trash.
We'll beat'em on Saturday!
Is that OC BL posting that above?
ReplyDelete
