and Runner-up
It was a week-end with more drama than a sleep over at Michal Jackson's house.
Vs Garland, Lifetime may have won the battle but lost the war.
Huffines failled to go un-defeated.
Greenhill got to play the spoiler.
And Garland showed everybody how to do it Durty
Epic Fail of the Year
They had it all in the palm of there hands and jerked the wheel to the left and flew off the cliff.Three match points vs Huffines in the first round, and had their destiny in their own hands in the final match vs Greenhill and could not pull a doubles line.
Winners Win! and everybody knows what losers do.
THEY FAIL EPICALLY....
Kaiser was a cute kid in your picture, unfortunatly he had to grow up into the BIG BIRD!
ReplyDeletehello... hapi blogging... have a nice day! just visiting here....
ReplyDeleteAs a captain, you can say it all comes down to captaining, but at the end of the day it is the players on the court that have to make things happen regardless who they are matched up against.
ReplyDeleteIn terms of player depth, the results show what each team really had and Garland had stronger players across the board. The next team in solid players actually appeared to be Greenhill. However their lack of a singles "ringer" hurt them when going up against a Garland or a Huffhines, but their dubs players are solid. For LTF, they added their ringer at the end of the season but seems he was needed more to strengthen their dubs lines which fell of quickly after their line 1. The two horses that took them to the show got broken by Garland and couldn't put the pieces back together in time to take care of Greenhill. That was too costly.
In terms of captains doing their job, Ed comes in 1st beacause he makes it to Sectionals with less depth and does it clean. He also out-foxed LTF in pulling Jones down to win that crucial line of dubs. Greenhill Kayser is next for putting a line of dubs that knocked all 3 lines out of LTF. LTF was exposed because he had to call on Klamecki for singles which weakened their dubs. LTF Kaiser did not do that bad of a job, and in all actuallity, did surprisingly well given the fall off in talent after 4-5 core players. He actually lacked the most depth (outside of Brookhaven)but seemed to make the most of it.
Sisk is Sisk, and what can I say except I hear he is Durty. Because of that, I give the other captains more kudos. In terms of his dealings with Kaiser, I hear they were true and even saw Kaiser confronting him at the match. I am sure it was Sisk getting in his head whichg backfired on him in the LTF Garland match, but seemed to work in having them losing focus at the end to take care of Greenhill. I didn't see any hard feelings as from what I heard is that Kaiser was hanging out with the durty boys after the match anyway. Maybe it was the free beer.
Congrats to the winners and may they both do well in Sectionals.
Huffines proved you can get to sectionals with only 2 players and some luck. Great job on the calling the line match-ups.
ReplyDeleteFrom the looks of Sisk it seems pretty clear that he is all about the free beer and any free food he can get his durty mitts on!!!
ReplyDeleteSisk had the doubles depth to beat Greenhill who had the next best doubles depth. HUffines had to pull thier second best singles player to be able to compete with GTC or they would of been swept in doubles and almost where anyway. Sisks dept at doubles 1-3 forces teams to pull their best singles players to help their doubles.
ReplyDeleteWell put Captain Fantastic. For lifetime, they needed their thoroughbred horses to come through for them, and that line was not near as good as everyone thought. The good ones win those tight matches.
ReplyDeleteGreenhill had very good doubles teams, but they should with the "3.5" teaching pro J. Palacoiz, and the out of level ringer Varner. The other out of level players by far were Yarmenko, C. Heath, Wiley, Clark, Hess and Klemecki. All of these guys should be very proud of there victories over legit 3.5ers. Good luck next season boys when the 4.0s get ahold of you!!! What goes around comes around, so bend over and take it like a man!
ReplyDeleteI have been too busy and tired to actually this.
ReplyDeleteAdmittedly, I am pleased with the weekend because as a team we won (not exactly sure how but a welcome surprise nonetheless).
The top four teams were extraordinarily close. When you look at lines won teams (1-4) were merely 1 match different and sets lost were merely 2 sets different. Any of the four teams are capable of representing Dallas at sectionals.
Many players had very good weekends, Klamecki has not been mentioned as one but lost in that is he was 4-0. I admit I wanted Bennett and Klamecki to play wherever I did and nothing has changed. I asked both to follow me on more than one occasion and they would definitely have made us much stronger and I would feel much more confident going into sectionals with those two guys on our roster. They are very good players and obviously would make any 3.5 roster stronger (even a Sisk roster).
I met Bob Kayser for the first time and can say I have nothing but the most respect for him as a person and a tennis player. He was a great guy and he and his partner gave Keith and myself all we wanted and actually controlled out match. We were fortunate to come out on top because the match was closer than an already close score. Bob, if you and Varner still want to get a match with Keith and myself, send mea n e-mail at gregwiley2000@yahoo.com (anyone else who wants to play cvan e-mail me too). I will do what I can to get it arranged. Bennett told me that Varner was an unbelievable player.
Brookhaven was outgunned by the top 4 teams but they actually played everyone quite tight. They may have broken a record for most 3rd set tiebreaks lost.
Our match with Bennett and Arcaria was a great match. It certainly could have gone either way. I admit I wanted a shot at them because I knew their record and was already familiar with Bennett's game; I knew they were extremely tough. I would be lying if I said that was not the most satisfying individual win of the weekend. Keith and I played well and made 1 more shot. I have great respect for them as players and competitors.
While we were celebrating, we were unaware that Gerber was in the middle of defeating Fonseca. My hat goes off to Alan winning that one through gritty determination. Alan is not the most orthodox player but he does make you hit one more shot and it is enough to beat a whole lot of players. He is an extremely fast player and smartly makes you beat him.
Finally, Ed Ratcliffe who is a great guy and a real character played us and we had a fun match enjoyable match. I have met Ed on numerous occasions and cannot say a bad thing about the guy. Ed outfoxed all captains on all lines all weekend. Keith actually heard you trying to set the lines and guess it and you hit exactly like you wanted. My hat is off because you made the right lineup decisions all weekend. Fortunately, Fonseca came through against Sam Bert.
Afterward, Brookhaven gave us the keg which I probably should have had a few less. Kaiser and I talked for awhile and hopefully we were able to bury any hatchet that may have needed buried (not even sure if one was there but if there was, I hope it is buried forever). Kaiser is a good guy and he takes alot of unfair abuse on this blog.
Players I met that I had never seen and only had names until this weekend were all great. I heard Jones was a great forehand and serve; while that is true, it appeared he had a really smooth backhand too. I met Oleg and he was a very good guy. Same with Arcaria, I had never met him and he was also a gracious opponent.
All in all, there was too much drama for my liking but I had a fun weekend and all of the matches were extremely competitive. The sportsmanship on the court in the matches were all very good.
Best of luck to all.
THE TOP TEAMS SHOULD PLAY EACH OTHER EVERY WEEKEND IN THE FALL.
ReplyDeleteGet ready get set GO!! Time to start recruiting unknown 3.5 ringers and cheats! BECAUSE ALL THE BEST PLAYERS ARE RINGERS AND CHEATS, RIGHT? The early bird gets the worm!
ReplyDeleteAlright, Top-Teams-Should-Play-Each-Other-in-the-Fall-Guy, it's called the playoffs. Do your business during the regular season, and you'll get your payoff.
ReplyDeleteCaptain Fantastic,
ReplyDeleteNice observations. I couldn't agree more with your assessmnet of Greenhill. If they had a knock out singles player, they would be in sectionals. Marc, you should have tried to get on with the other Kayser. The classy one.
Captain Fantastic, nice breakdown and right on the money. Against GH, Gerber could not play singles (pulled groin during Fonseca match) so Klamecki and Dennis were called into action and came thru. if those two played double and Chan/Gerber played singles, it could have changed things, but that's making assumptions. The early loss by Bennett/Arcaria to GTC obviously shook their confidence and the gimme in the afternoon was not to be had. I'm sure other teams had similar scenarios, but I wanted to see LTF pull it off just to piss off the haters.
ReplyDeleteKlamecki and Dennis were the most underrated doubles team of the week-end,
ReplyDeleteWhen they were on they were tough,
They could have gone toe to toe with any of the other doubles teams mentioned they just did not get the chance.
pulling klamecki for dubs was just a wash as if they let klamecki play singles then the doubles line loses. Look what happened when HUffines pulled Jones to play dubs the single line loses but if Jones plays singles the dub line loses.
ReplyDeleteSisk not having to pull single players to play Dubs gave him the depth to win the tournament and forced others to pull their singles hot shots.
ReplyDeleteWho is the masked man, Captain Fantastic?
ReplyDeleteIt may have been a different story had Jones and Klamecki only played singles but due to lack of depth at doubles....
ReplyDeleteThe tournament this weekend was a hell of a lot of fun! Making it to the city tournament was a blast! I met a lot of great guys! Good luck to Ratty and Sisk at Sectionals! I’ll tell you ….some of those dudes from Brookhaven are crazy. One particular dude by the name of Glenn Strohl is absolutely insane! I heard this guy was out all night on Friday night drinking after his first round match. On Saturday, he played twice, drank about a case of beer during the afternoon / early evening time frame and then went out. Strohl told me that he went to some party Saturday night and did shots until 1:00 am. On Sunday morning, Strohl was machine. He was out on the court first thing, kicking ass and messing with his opponents heads. After his match, he started drinking again! He drank about a case of beer during the afternoon time frame. After all of the matches were over, he mentioned to a bunch of us that he had several friends over at the Brookhaven pool that he wanted to introduce us to. We said, sure ..WTF. So, we all went over to the pool and he had flock of women (about eight) waiting for him. These chicks were good looking and crazy. They just wanted to get laid. Again this weekend was a lot fun. I didn’t get home until 2:00 am Monday morning. I was cooked. I ended up sleeping in until noon and then staggered into the office. This past weekend was a little to much for me with all the tennis, drinking and T&A. Strohl knows how to make it happen! I’m eagerly looking forward to the start of the fall season!
ReplyDeleteI vote for Strohl to be my Captain next year! I am jumping ship!
ReplyDeleteTentative schedules for Sectionals can be found at:
ReplyDeletehttp://www.texas.usta.com/Texas/Global/News/USA%20League%20Tennis/2009/2009_Adult_League_Championships.aspx
Glen Strohl is second to none. A real Rock Star. The only thing better than his tennis game, is his ability to party with the babes. I vote Glen takes over the DTA and Texas USTA. A real 5.0 in all aspects...
ReplyDeleteGlen is a 5.5 and probably pushing 6.0 when it comes to getting the babes and partying. All hail Strohl.
ReplyDeleteElton John aka Captain Fantastic spending his time on the Dallas League Tennis blog? Philadelphia Freedom, baby!
ReplyDeleteI want to go to Nationals with Strohl! What a party!
ReplyDeleteYou don't need Nats for a party with Strohl. The party is whereever Strohl is. Places like Tucson are way too tame for the Strohl man.
ReplyDeleteI would follow Glen Strohl to the end of the Earth.. He can be Huckalberry any time. The only 6.0 i know who plays down with the common man!!
ReplyDeleteI already miss the smack talk, fairy tales and lies, accusations and rumors of the old days! Please someone call someones mamma a cheater!
ReplyDeleteJUST IN.... The Mighty Strohl is still at BH Pool with the hot chicks trying to organize a Super 3.5 Team in Dallas. He is the original player from the himalayas!!!
ReplyDeleteThis just in;
ReplyDeleteOleg Yaremenko received his third red flag this past weekend and will be DQed shortly. Now Huffines is really screwed.
First Wickman/Sisk (nobody believed it, what do you losers have to say now?), and now Oleg/Ratdick. Cheaters never get as far as they intend. Sisk has been exposed, and got so psst off about it that he tried rigging matches to win, and now it's Ratty's turn. Welcome to the jungle you fat ugly cheating losers.
AND LB HOUSTON JUST GOT DQ FOR HAVING SHITTY COURTS AND POOR LIGHTING!
ReplyDeleteWickman DQ? Still not proven
ReplyDeleteThats better smack talk!
ReplyDeleteIt was confirmed Wickman was DQ'd
ReplyDeletewhere does it list wickman is dq?
ReplyDeleteThe Fonseca/Bert match was a battle. I have never seen two guys run each other to death like that. Both of those guys will be tough in Sectionals. I would hate to have to play either of them.
ReplyDeleteA Pyrrhic victory indeed for Huffhines,
ReplyDeleteI wonder how fast Eddie will spin this since he so so adamant about not being a CHEATER!!!!!
The only honorable way for these two cheaters to regain their reputation is to let ltf and Greenhill take their places.
If Oleg would be a cheater, he would have allowed more games or even sets won by his opponents.
ReplyDeleteyes, just like Fonseca did... did you see Fonseca play in the last tie-break againt Burt?? all of a sudden, Fonseca became a winner hitting machine... seriously!
ReplyDeleteTrue. Oleg simply crushed everyone whom he played.
ReplyDeleteSo...
Be honest, Play the level USTA puts you in, and finally Be successful by winning matches.
For this you get DQ!
Perfect system :)
I thought he was computer rated, no? He was a self-rate?
ReplyDeleteIf he is computer rated before the season, he cannot be DQed.
I agree with 3:31 pm post!!!
ReplyDeleteThe system is messed up. For no fault of their own, people like Oleg have to take all the crap from both USTA and gay anons.
Ratcliffe makes a rookie mistake. A Tournament rating is treated like a sel-rate for League play. Ratcliff should have known this and not exposed Oleg so much. However, he probably wouldn't have made it as far as he did had he not.
ReplyDeleteHad Oleg been on Sisk's team he probably wouldn't be DQ'd. Sisk would have him manage his scores better. Oleg probably wouldn't agree to that so Ratcliff took him on board.
You have to be durty if you want to make it in the same league with Sisk. Too bad, both Ed and Oleg are really nice guys.
I see no proof of Yaremenko being DQ'd. It may be true but I still see nothing on tennis link. Do we ahve any confirmation?
ReplyDeleteYou people do not get it! The system does not put these players such as oleg, flora, mudsam, etc. They put themselves there. They self rate out of level or have a rating for tournaments only and are playing out of level and most know it. these guys are not computer rates. I will say this about Oleg, he was out of level but at least he never manipulated his scores, unlike wickman and others.
ReplyDeleteBoys, boys, boys. Somebody is just trying to srir shit up. There is no evidence of any DQ. Some anon is just having fun. They run the report on Monday mornings. We would have heard about it and seen it yesterday. You boys are gullable!
ReplyDeleteWhether it's true or not, Oleg should DQ himself for being a pussy and playing at 3.5. Word is he wears a Ukrainian butt plug given to him by BBF himself as a special thank you for joining the team.
ReplyDeleteSo, take 14-4.5 level guy's, self-rate at 3.5 for the fall. Have the players switch hands and lose. In the Spring, they are computer rated 3.5's, happy now that this team computer rated and doesn't drop a set or lose more than 10 games in 8 matches- HAPPY NOW???
ReplyDeleteHow about we start talking about Sectionals in mens 4.0 and 4.5 since we have worn out the 3.5 coverage?
ReplyDeleteI will confirm it--Wickman has NOT been DQ'ed.
ReplyDeleteWANTED:
ReplyDeleteAll 5.0 ability players who have a 3.5 rating to play on a Dallas Super Team for the Mighty Glen Strohl. Must Be able to party like a Rock Star and have a sweet game like the Mighty Strohl. Call Brookhaven Pro Shop to sign up, reference the American Bad Ass Team!!
Signed
The Strohlmiester
Congrats to both Garland and Huffines for a great performance at the DCC. A lot of good guys on both teams.
ReplyDeleteHowever, looking ahead to Sectionals I am not too optismistic about our chances.
Both Garland and Huffines are far below the caliber of teams we sent to Sectionals last year. '08 Garland had Flora, DeFeo, Courtney, Delira and Harvey. While '08 LTF had Mudsam, Tuorto, Moorrison and Mahr. That looks like a huge drop in talent from '08 to '09.
I hope I'm wrong but I don't think the '09 Sectional 3.5 winner will be from Dallas.
Looks as if BH - Bartlett has got on the ball and signed up Glen Strohl for his 4.0 team. Way to go, Glen could possibly be the worst 4.0 in the history of NTRP. Have you actually seen this clown play? Its pathetic!!!
ReplyDeleteGarland had better singles last year but have better and deeper doubles this year.
ReplyDeleteAfter seeing BH - Bartlett fold like a lawn chair in the city tournament, It looks like he is grasping for any player. He got a true champion in Strohl. Known for poor line calls and the willingness to lob at a drop of a dime. My vote is for BH - Bartlett to be the early season favorite to be the worst team in the city. Good move CAPTAIN!!
ReplyDeleteAnon 7:37 I guess Dallas teams need to do a better job of cheating to keep up with the rest of the state if we want to have a chance.
ReplyDeleteImagine Dallas teams not standing much of a chance after all the cheating, etc, allegations all year! What does that say about other state teams?
ReplyDeleteBH = WHO CARES!!!
ReplyDeleteI saw every Dallas player in the playoffs and I saw nobody that was just disgustingly out of level. Oleg was probably the closest but nothing too serious.
ReplyDeleteWell it's unanimous that Oleg is out of level. And what most do not know is that Chris Jones is better than Oleg in singles and can beat him consistantly. So what does that say about that sandbagging Jones clown?
ReplyDeletehow do you know that Chris can beat Oleg? they never played. "consistently" is really appropriate word here...
ReplyDeleteOleg is not out of level. He is a 4.0 bump now. excatly what he is and where he should be now.
ReplyDeleteOleg is better than Jones and is out of level.
ReplyDeleteYes OLEG out of level Jones was in level and developed into a better player that rightfully got bumped.
ReplyDeleteYaramenko is in no way, shape or form a 3.5 player. I do not care if he plays 3.5 but lets call it like it is.
ReplyDeleteAnon 8:26 I second your comments. Glen Strohl is nothing more than a hack and I would be emmbarrassed to be on a team with him.. Buford, Lazzara, and any other good player is welcome to come to Lifetime and get away from that know nothing Bartlett who calls himself captain.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure they must play in practice. Sounds like insider info! OMG call Tosha to report the story!
ReplyDeleteJust in!!! OMG uncovered!
ReplyDeleteJesus Fonseca played ATP long time ago. Self-rate questionaire specifically asks if you played pro or circuit!
Will some captain file a complaint?
That is quite correct, and although they probably don't want to let it out, they've played. And while they play, Eddy Ratdick watches as he plays with himself.
ReplyDeleteYou have to make something better up than that. The ATP was not arround when Fonseca was younger.
ReplyDeleteJust in!!! OMG uncovered!
ReplyDeleteJesus Fonseca played ATP long time ago. Self-rate questionaire specifically asks if you played pro or circuit!
Will some captain file a complaint?
PLEASE!!!
whatever circuit they used then!
ReplyDeleteKaiser is Renee Richards sister!
ReplyDeleteI found nothing to substantiate Fonseca on the ATP but it appears he died in Iraq.
ReplyDeleteIf Fonseca dies in Iraq, won't Kaiser file a grievance against Sisk for using a dead man?
ReplyDeleteMan, we've got some pretty bitter players posting here at 3.5, or is it just one who continuously does?
ReplyDeleteI think it is only one guy and he plays at BH.
ReplyDeleteFYI -- Oleg Yaremenko is currently (July 15, 2009) ranked as the #14 4.0 singles player in the Texas Section. Draw your own conclussion....
ReplyDeletemeans nothing just a computer glich, I am ranked 1053 in 3.5 but it was just a racquet problem should move up soon.
ReplyDeleteIt is specifically against USTA rules to use dead people on your team. Kaiser should file a grievance against Sisk.
ReplyDeleteYou have to remember that Texas rankings are sometimes as much of a reflection of how many tournaments a person enters. That being said, Oleg got bumped up to 4.0 midseason, so it appears as though his game is on that level.
ReplyDeleteSam Stollenwerck has had some success in 4.5 tournaments, but I don't think he got bumped up to that level from 4.0.
The question is that if you feel as though it's worth your while to play up a level from where you're rated, why spend your time playing at the lower level during the league season?
Jesus is not dead it was his other brother Jesus who was thought KIA but found alive drinking Schlitz Malt with Oleg in Sisk's vacation cave in Afhagnistan while discussing plans to over throw Kaiser's rule.
ReplyDeleteI heard this morning - with all the partying this past weekend, the Mighty Strohl pulled his gingiss during his doubles match against Huffines. Apparently, the Mighty Strohl is taking the next 10 days off for a little rest & relaxation and recuperate before the Denise Terrill Charity Tournament. He’s traveling to the Dominican Republic with a few hotties from Gold Club Cabaret. The Mighty Strohl gets more tail that you can shake a stick at.
ReplyDeleteI heard the Mighty Strohl has an extra 'gingiss'. A man like has a need for an extra 'gingiss'
ReplyDeleteAs for Fonseca being dead, I believe that story because he had an eerie resemblance to the crypt keeper on Tales from the Crypt. Fonseca was a bit more dusty.
nancy noel gets a lot of action in the gay bars
ReplyDeleteGINGISS!! It will take more than that to keep The Mighty Strohl down..
ReplyDeleteWhere has the "big ego gerber" been lately? I also think its funny that whenever you idiots talk about the out of level 3.5ers from last year like Flora, Mudsum, Defeo etc... that you always throw Morrision in with them. Have any of you seen him play? He is not even in the same solar system as those guys, IMO he is about number 8 or 9 on the Ltf 4.0 team. He just does such a good job of sucking up to Capt. Hill that he plays most every week.
ReplyDeleteI am right there with you, except, how often would you expect the #8 or 9 guy to play? You lost me on that part.
ReplyDeleteB-HoMo
ReplyDeleteIs a left handed doubles specialist,
That's enough to make you of value,
He gets good partners, He's not expected to carry anyone on his back. That's a good spot to be in.
His singles skills are bad,
Get him on court by himself you see he's no 4.5.
Gerber is out of town all week, probably at the Greek Orthodox School of Tennis so he can hang with greats like Wiley.
ReplyDeleteHow did I get involved in that last post, unless there is another Wiley? If he is looking for greats, I am not the player to seek.
ReplyDeleteYeah, leave Greg out lets talk Glenn Strohl. Now that is real tennis.
ReplyDeleteSecond the Strohl comment. Have you seen this stud play..Real Federer like!
ReplyDeleteMorrison is one of the top two doubles players on Eddie's LT team right now. Mudsam would be the other. Let me assure you that Eddie does put anyone in a lineup because they kiss up to him. Eddie's always going to put out the lineup that gives him the best chance to win.
ReplyDeleteI watched Morrison and Flora play doubles for their respective teams and Morrison is a considerably better doubles player. Not even close. Most "doubles specialist" would not make a good teams #1 or #2 singles spot, but they are just as important to the team.
ReplyDeleteI also saw Defeo play doubles and Morrison is stronger tha Defeo at doubles. Look to be a coaching mistake to move Defeo from singles to doubles. I saw him play singles at the DCC and he was very good.
Bill Kaiser doesn't always drink beer, but when he does, he prefers Dos Equis.
ReplyDeleteKL/LTF
3.5 SECTIONALS
ReplyDeleteTeam Huffines is in a very tough flight with FTW, NETX and San Antonio. With Huffines' weakness in doubles, they are toast.
Team Garland is more well rounded and has better depth. They are also in a much weaker flight with Corpus, Abilene, SETX and W/C Austin. GTC should at least win their flight and advance to the semi-finals.
Good luck to both Dallas teams.
Ok for all you so called experts, like Sisk, Nancy and other Garland lovers, its not official Wickman is a DQ!!!! So what do you have to say now cheating bastards!!!
ReplyDeleteOleg is next, that's what I have to say. Cheating Naysayers f yourselves.
ReplyDeletenancy noel helps sisk find all those self rated ringers. then he defends them on the blog. nancy is a real piece of crap.
ReplyDeleteTrue, but he lives in a very nice double wide.
ReplyDeletewith a double wide girlfriend.
ReplyDeleteIs it me or doesn't Chris Jones look like Ron Howard's retarded looking brother, Clint Howard??
ReplyDeleteI think he's the banjo boy from Deliverance, all grown up.
ReplyDeleteNoel does have extra wide hands.
ReplyDeleteI haven't ever met Terry ever actually and I saw Jesse for the first time in about 5 years during the playoffs. I also haven't defended either of them.
ReplyDeleteGet your facts straight.
Jones looks nothing like Clint, Dennis Demenstere looks like Clint though
ReplyDeletenancy is a very strange guy _ a 4.5 player hanging out on the 3.5 blog.
ReplyDeleteYeah, it's not like I'm a moderator or anything.
ReplyDeleteShame on you young man!!! You should be in bed choking your rooster's neck or calling 1-900 numbers or both!!!! now go back to bed like me!!!!
ReplyDeleteBig John
