So I don't want to curse some of you I know on the team but High Point has to be a big favorite to win the 7.0 and should make a run similar to Bob Somabut's team from last year at this level. There are some solid players like the Blackburns, Kirby, Jonathan, Dima and Sandra Rohde.
Greenhill won the other flight but not sure I see anyone on that roster or the Hackberry roster that strikes fear. The Lakes looks solid with Mr. Rocketman and his wife as well as the Richardson crew but they did lose 0-3 to HP in the regular season.
8.0
The only safe prediction is that TBar has no chance. Past that I don't think I can take a good guess because Springpark, Lifetime and High Point are all loaded with talent enough to make 6 good mixed doubles teams. I think it will come down to Lifetime v. Springpark but High Point has a chance for sure.
9.0
Is there a championship for this? I don't see one posted yet.
Finally a topic where I know most of the players: 8.0 mixed. Cary is right in that there is a lot of good teams and TBar is a bit back of the other three. My experience is that the best team is a very strong 4.5 man with a solid 3.5 woman. Although the best team might have been Pickett and Pham because Lynn is really a 4.5 woman. Rumor is that she is playing 9.0 and not 8.0. Same with Gene Davis. He is almost unbeatable in mixed. Taking those 2 out, gives High Point a real shot with all super solid 4.0s plus a strong 4.5 man (Pham) and a ridiculously underrated 3.5 woman(Furr).
ReplyDeleteSpring Park's chance depends on Rafael Ledezma and Shawn Foster taking over the whole court and Mitch having recovered from the food poisoning that hurt him in the 4.0 playoffs.
It wouldn't surprise me if 3 teams were 2-1 and TBar 0-3.
Betting odds:
SP (without Davis) and HP 2:1
Lifetime (without Pham) 3:1
TBar 25:1
OK, who is the HOTEST mixed doubles partner. (And please do not say Nancy Noel!)
ReplyDeleteI think she needs to be single to qualify.
ReplyDeleteHP is obviously the by-far favorite in 7.0 per your note Cary as they have depth and talent. If they dont win, then i will wear pirate do-rag at my next mixed match.

7.0 Hackberry looks pretty tough. They have a solid group of 4.0 men Ellis/Rossou/Lee.
ReplyDelete8.0 Highpoint Lazarine looks pretty tough. They have top 4.0 mens Robinson/Nguyen/Rasor and top 4.0 Woman Lazarine/Caldwell. With their ringer team Pham/Furr. They are the team to beat.
and don't forget my fav teaching pro Dencil johnson playing 8.0 w/ Lazarines team. He is very good but not sure if he can get away from teaching to play all the matches.
ReplyDeleteI agree with your assessment Cary. T Bar has no chance based on what I saw when we played them. I'm guessing that wasn't their strongest lineup but all three of those teams were beatable. I don't know much about the other flight. I actually wasn't that impressed with Springpark when we played them either. Maybe the other flight had stronger teams.
ReplyDeleteIs this thread really about playing ability? I thought we were finally going to get into some good topics like the "Ladies of Dallas tennis"
ReplyDeleteMost of those gals are married. Does not seem to make sense to talk about other guys wives.
ReplyDeleteNo single ladies?? That's a real shame.
ReplyDeleteoh they are out there and this is the perfect time to be anonymous and compliment the married ladies. They aren't dead yet you know.
ReplyDeleteoh all the married ladies are hot.
ReplyDelete- spoken by someone who plays with his wife

ReplyDeleteThey are only muscle shirts if you have muscles. When I wear them they are only sleeveless shirts. I do appreciate the honorable mention though.
ReplyDeleteSo Steven's the guy in that pair. Man what an ugly couple!
ReplyDeleteI hear Ratana looks good in a skirt.
Hottest mixed partner? Elke, hand down. In fact, do you mind if I play with her, Ice?
ReplyDeletethis thread is hillarious..
ReplyDeleteIcepick is so pretty that he should top the ladies list as well
With Fort Worth creeping around the corner. Just keep your eyes locked on Dallas. Im talking about8.0 mixed.
ReplyDeletedo we need a calander?
ReplyDeleteThe first 8.0 match on Saturday is the final HP vs SP. The teams of Pham/Furr and Razor/Dugger will be too balanced for the 4.5 men of SP to dominate.
ReplyDeleteA lot of guys like Nancy.
ReplyDeleteAre there Nationals for Mixed Doubles?
ReplyDeleteYes, in Sacramento
ReplyDeleteYeah, Nancy is definitely the hottest mixed doubles player. I've been sleeping with her for a while now.
ReplyDeleteLifetime has no chance without Lynh Pham and rumor has it Collin Thompson is out with an injury. HP and SP will play the final Saturday.
