I may have to rewrite this if some rosters change this week but I will go off what I see so far. I hope the Lifetimers are happy with my thoughts and now you can post about how your close losses show how fabulous you are. Post to your hearts content LTF.
Flight A
Well Springpark still has their doubles teams intact minus Rasor who did come up very big at sectionals. The loss of Davis and Mcgowan is more than huge, although Mitch didn't live up to ringer status at Sectionals he was still a force in the regular season and DCC. I think they are used to winning and will be the team to beat and I will be curious to see who lands on that roster, your move Walters.... After that we have the Garland "C" team who was added once their 3.5 team was forced to move up/split up and the Canyon Creek "B" team, I have to think both these teams will have a rough go here. The LBH team has a few good players but don't see enough depth to make noise, JCC and Fretz have solid players but yet again depth will be an issue for both of them unless they have some roster bolstering soon. That leaves Brookhaven and the Village. BH made the playoffs although they underwhelmed upon arrival and not sure they will make it out of this group. The Village made a huge grab in Kyle Rhodes but I am not sure he can carry a team that has hovered at 0.500 lately, although Kyle can turn a 2-3 loss around. I believe there is another team in there but I don't know much about their roster so I won't guess.
Pick to win: ????
Runner up: Springpark
Surprise team: Village
Flight B:
Much like Springpark, High Point/Somabut is used to winning but lost lots of players and really the only "A" team members left are Voss, Nguyen and Smith and the legendary forehand of Carlquist. There are some other good players on their roster but I would not be surprised to see some additions to make them stronger very soon. LBH/Hicks played well in the Spring but much like Brookhaven underwhelmed big time in the QT so it all depends on which version of these players show up to play, I am surprised Kyle Rhodes didn't opt to play with this group, I think he would have made them a favorite in this flight. I think this 2nd Village team will struggle but other than that I think the rest of these teams could make noise and cause problems for HP and LBH. The 2nd Lifetime has some solid players, Stonebriar has talent, althought Moomjian might be gone by season start. I heard Sisk's team is being called the "B" team but looking at that roster, hmmm, don't think so.
Pick to win: LBH/Hicks
Runner up: High Point
Surprise team: Garland
Flight C
Oh boy do I really have to talk about them. Ok I guess along with Brookhaven, Lifetime/Eddie is the favorite here. I like Burt's group but I am still shocked they couldn't get 1 line v. Springpark to get to the QT in the Spring but alas that is the past. I am sure they are hungry again. After that Garland will be OK although I am struggling to see line 1 singles in that roster or depth at doubles past Odulio/Gervelis. Singh will need to step up and looks like he will have plenty of playing time if he wants it. Eagles Landing looks solid but they will need to get out those top guys each week to be in the mix.
Pick to win: Lifetime
Runner up: Brookhaven
Surprise team: Hackberry
Flight D
Good ole Flight D. I know I should jump back to the Lakes and Greenhill who seem like they should keep up their winning ways but I don't have good feelings about their rosters. Stonebridge and TBar also seem like question marks to me due to some losses and lack of strong singles play. Eldorado and OC also have good teams but lack that certain something to get to the top so guess who that leaves. Brookhaven Bartlett crashed hard in the Spring but I know Brad likes to win and I can't see this team having two bad seasons in a row.
Pick to win: BH/Bartlett
Runner up: Lakes
Surprise team: Not sure I see one so I will nominate High Point, these guys are looking good at practice lately. So what the heck.
It is about time. I am really at a loss of words. We like our team and have a lot of hard work ahead to reach our goals. I can't believe I am saying this, but the picks look pretty good Cary. I even like your flight A and D. I think HP/Bazan has a chance in A and I think you have come to see that D is very weak. Best of luck to all. Go Lifetime.
ReplyDeleteI HATE TO SAY THIS, but Sisk put together a strong team again.
ReplyDeleteFlora should win most of his matches. Scott Russell was a nice pick up to go w/ Jerry Defeo
Hutchinson is a strong player to anchor at line 3 consistently and win it. Oberto is a strong player, and who knows how Zackary is going to play if he truly layed off for a couple of years, or was just under USTA radar, but playing regularly.
flight B - Garland looks to be the best team here. I don't see any other teams competing against them. Obviously they still need to add 1 more player to keep from having any defaults, and to keep from having to play the 2 weakest players on the team consistently. (No need for call outs).
why so much apathy on the Lakes. Their roster didnt change that much. Runda and Valtierra are gone which hurt. But Randy V. barely played in reg. season. Runda is a loss but they have other strong singles players. And Holt appealed down.
ReplyDeleteit's because they lost to Lifetime in the DCC, that has to push you down in the rankings
ReplyDeleteI was surprised Holt got moved back down, that will help and to be honest that is why I think they will still be a factor this season.
High Point/Bazan will be very solid in flight A. I think their doubles have improved and they already have, arguably, the best singles lineup.
ReplyDeleteNot if Cary is stil in the line-up
ReplyDeletePrediction: Bazan goes 3-0 this season.
ReplyDeleteHey,
ReplyDeleteLet's be careful about railing Cary here. He does a great job of putting this together, and it is a lot of work. Don't think that you can just slam him because he puts this out here. Its not cool. That said, he could do very well at line 3 and hold that line consistently.
Not taking shots at Cary just being honest. Not like when people are saying others are fat and doucebags. The true is for them to win that flight Cary will need to be on the sidelines 5 out of 7 matches. If they don't have someone better than he is to play. They cannot win enough matches. Not a shot at him. Just honest at this level.
ReplyDeleteI think Cary is very talented... at running this site that is.
ReplyDeletethan anon but I welcome some bashing it will get me fired up for the season. I will play but I did have to play higher in the lineup last year than we planned due to various reasons but you can be sure I will be hanging out in a winning position in the lineups waiting for anon. I am very fortunate to be on this team of mine because they run themselves and worked to put this group together along with me. We also acquired some good beer drinkers which proved to be a valuable quality in a team since Springpark used the beer drinking to spur them onto victory. My hope is I get to have 8 celebratory beers during the regular season, heck I guess I would take 7.

Cary,
ReplyDeleteYou might need to change ur votes to who will win their flight first. I don't even think we are to the stage to pick 4.0 winner yet. too many teams left off the list.
Yea, too many teams left off the preseason voting pole.
ReplyDeleteWah, my team isn't on the poll, well maybe you shouldn't suck so bad.
ReplyDeleteI really just needed to put one team on the poll, you are all playing for 2nd place biaaatches!!!
LOL!!! that was good!
ReplyDeleteI hope people were able to stay up late and watch the Blake v Young tennis match today. I don't know anyway that that a recap in the paper or highlights will be able to reproduce the excitement of the last 2 sets! That had to be the best back and forth tennis match I have seen since Federer v Nadal right until dusk. What an amazing amazing match this evening.
Wish I could have seen it bmo. My satellite has been acting up. I just caught bits and pieces of the 5th. I'm sure if it was that great they will reshow 100 times in the next two weeks.
ReplyDeleteWhy do so many think Lifetime will win Flight C? They have Forrest for 1 win at singles but where else will they win? Takashi was their best doubles player and he went to Eagles Landing (he obviously saw the light and wanted off that Lifetime team - a clear sign they are as bad as people say). They have a lot of 3.5 players (Morrison, Marcus, Brinkman, Mudsam) and while Myers and Kennedy are good, that still only gives them 2 wins each week. What am I missing?
ReplyDeleteSteve Kent is the best player in 4.0 now and Cary will continue to have to hide him. No one will beat him when it matters.
That's right I'm awsome. I'm crushing people at our practices. If I'm beating everyone on Cary's team then you know I'm the best 4.0 in Dallas. I bet I'll even take a set off Eddie this year.
ReplyDeleteThere is a new sheriff in town and his name is STEVE KENT. I know most of you have never heard of me, but by the end of the year everyone will fear STEVE KENT. I play for Cary's team so you know I'm the best.
ReplyDeleteFYI. Lifetime was introduced to Takashi by Bill Stevens. Bill is the captain of Eagles Landing. Hello. Takashi felt terrible about leaving, but once Bill decided to captain a team it was a done deal with Takashi.
ReplyDeleteAs far as Lifetime goes. Meyers and Kennedy have never played together. So when they are on 2 different teams with 2 other very strong players they don't lose either. That's 3 wins. Oh. Mark Wines was 6-2 last year in singles. That's 4 wins. Mudsam and Flora were best 2 players in 3.5. Mudsam is a strong doubles player as well and Left handed. Put him with one of several strong options on the duece side and... That's 5 wins. 5-0 wins for Lifetime. Now you have to start wondering if they will drop a line all season.
ReplyDeleteDon't forget about Eddie. Word is on the street is he is sandbagging wiht this injury like he did in the spring and will be back Oct 1, better than ever.
ReplyDeleteKent is the best 4.0 singles player.
ReplyDeleteThat was a good match last night BMO but calm down with comparing it to Fed/Nadal at Wimby this year, that will not be equaled for a while. Still that was a great match, the only thing is it seems Young and Jenkins always hit big names in the first round at the US Open once they get their wildcards and do well but don't win. I like both of their games but would like to seem them get some points on the circuit and start building their ranking like Querry and Isner so they can play more than just the US Open, they need to leave their junior days behind and start focusing on the future because as Fed has shown us that window is small.
ReplyDeleteLifetime, 5-0. hmmm. I will say Mudsam is solid and probably will end up being more successful than Flora at 4.0 mainly because he won't be relied upon as much. I do think LTF will do well but to call out wins for Wines, Kennedy and Myers as locks now is a little bit of a stretch but they are solid players.
ReplyDeleteThe Eddie comeback will be interesting and I will say it again, I like Eddie and want to play against for years to come so "don't come back to early" It is just USTA league tennis and you are a young guy.
"Fake Steve Kent" that is funny, I know Steven would never comment unless it was raining and he was locked in a room somewhere and had nothing to do but I am sure he would appreciate your humor.
Let me just say that I will be lucky to be lightly swinging racket by Oct 15th and playing at 80% by Dec 1st at best. As far as Lifetime goes. All I will say is that we have a very strong team and some talent that people may be unaware of. As a group we will be stronger than the spring by the time Dec. rolls around. Eddie
ReplyDeleteWalters back to 9 players, they took Alan Haase off the team, what is up with that? Bringing in more horses or just want a minimal roster?
ReplyDeletecan't wait for the first match.
ReplyDeleteYes, if they show lots of re-runs, it is worth it to watch. Last 2 sets in particular.
oh, and I can think of a DOZEN 3.5 names that are going to do very well on 4.0 teams this year - against last years 4.0 players too, not just the new flood of 4.0 players this year. Jolly, OC, HP, etc. BOTH QT & City were definitely harder matches this year then Sectionals was (footnote: with the exception of Waco).
ReplyDeleteThat is a flood of good players coming up from just Dallas.
ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ.
ReplyDeletecannon fodder, flood, whatever you want to call it. I don't think many will be making huge impacts
ReplyDeleteLooks like Forest didn't take it so easy on his little brother yesterday. He beat Marcus 6-1,6-1.
ReplyDeletemaybe Jonathan was more chatty then usual and Forrest decided to take him out quickly, but I am going with our original assessment of JM, he is streaky and as noted, it isn't an insult about your game Jonathan. The fact you can take a set off just about anyone is a good thing, you just have to learn to keep it going.
ReplyDeleteyikes so if I beat Enrique I have to play Corey. We will see Enrique is tough, he is not the greatest match up for me.
ReplyDeleteYeah, Cory ripped me a new asshole with that crazy backhand.
ReplyDeleteI can't tell you how many errors that slice/side spin caused,
Great defense, too.
Nice guy in person, too.
Regardless of weather he plays Enrique or cary in the next round it should be a pretty easy out.
I'm looking forward to the Cory vs Noaman Final.
I agree Marc those strokes are so hard to deal with. I know we just played for fun before but I couldn't get anything past him. I tried everything if I beat Enrique i have no idea what game plan I wouuld use, maybe I could play him in WII tennis instead.
ReplyDeleteI agree, I would like to see Noaman play Corey. I am going to consider Thursday with Molina to be my final because I don't think I could improve on your score with Corey. Maybe i will try what Wines did and get crushed in the 1 set and try and lull him to sleep.
It would obviously be a tie. Nobody can beat STEVE KENT. You know I'm good because my name is always in all caps.
ReplyDeleteYeah, i'm sure the final of the blog tournament will be Corey vs. Noaman, afterall they are 4.5's playing in a predominately 3.5-4.0 tournament.
ReplyDeleteTHE NOT EVEN CLOSE TO BEING STEVE KENT SAID.....
ReplyDeleteI could beat Corey 1 & 1.
I was talking with "The Big Fish" the other day and he said as long as someone is injured, he and other team members will not take orders from the gravely ill, no matter what!!! Sounds like this team is up a creek.
ReplyDeleteThe not even close to being Steve Kent EITHER said.....
ReplyDeleteI could beat Corey I & I.
I finally had to look up some of these Lifetime players. Everything for them depends on how well Eddie heals and new guys mix with their two strong doubles players. How did Myers and Kennedy not get bumped? They went 15-2 last season with Myers winning all matches in the QT and DCC. Wines has gone 18-4 the last two years with all four losses coming against 4.5 players (McKinney, Cooper, Keller, Endress). I recognize his name but can't place it. Is he one of the high school stars some have referred to on the blog?
ReplyDeleteI still like Eagles Landing and believe the Lifetime/EL match will be great to see.
And until HP is dethroned, they are still the one to beat.
I'm ready for the season to start.
Ok, but who are you?
ReplyDeleteI'm "The Big Fish". You will tire of me soon. I like to talk about me, indirectly.
ReplyDeleteHey guys, did ya'll hear I drank water in Mexico with an injured shoulder?
ReplyDeleteI thought SP dethroned HP, plus went further in sectionals?
ReplyDeleteHP tanked the match against SP.. you can obviously tell from the scores and who played.
ReplyDeleteHP just came out on the raw end of the tiebreak at sectionals
HP choked at sectionals
ReplyDeleteHP capt played reserves in last match at Sectionals and it cost them a trip to Nats
ReplyDeleteHP was good but I don't think winning that flight meant they would beat Lubbock and Springpark to go to Nats. I do think Springpark was the better team but in the end it didn't matter, neither of them won sectionals so it is one of those questions we will never know and honestly don't really care about anymore. I still think both teams will be good this fall but have lost some weapons for sure. Springpark only lost one good doubles player though whereas HP lost a bunch.
ReplyDeleteDoesn't matter everyone is playing for second this fall. Lifetime has the best team.
ReplyDeleteLTF will get a chance to show us something, there first match will be against Brookhaven/Pearlman on 9/14. Flights C and D have scrimmages on 9/7 while A and B start real matches on that weekend.
ReplyDeleteOur 2nd team (Team Loyd) gets to play Durdy Garland in a scrimmage, I will try and make it over for that one.
i think beer should be a requirement for the scrimmage matches.
Can you see the schedules on USTA website?
ReplyDeleteNot quite yet, I have flight A, C and D with me. I am sure it will be up on the DTA very soon.
ReplyDeleteTop two finishers in each flight advance to plays for two flights and one Blue v. Red Final.
Our reg. season ends Nov 2nd and playoffs are Nov. 21st, so there is some make up time and layoff there. Maybe Eddie can challenge some playoff teams since he will be at home with the rest of the LTF'ers. :) Just joking you have to make my pick come true LTF.
I just wanted to put a word in for Lifetime Fitness. I showed up there Saturday after my hung over ass whoopin from Noaman but was able to get some food and drink and headed to lifetime to visit a good friend. Well, I ran into BMO and was lucky enough to be a needed extra player for the Saturday doubles tournament BMO organized. These guys are good! They have some very strong doubles play and with more practice they will improve! I think Garland has it's work cut out this season in 4.0 with teams like Lifetime in the mix and others of course. It will be fun!
ReplyDeleteBMO thanks for letting me play Saturday and was it a scorcher..I am still recovering!
Thanks SnotJock (JK!!!),
ReplyDeleteJacques, it was great to have you play with us. That was a LOT of fun with a nice turn out besides just both LTF teams with several different teams represented. I was dead tired when it was all said and done.
I look forward to organizing something like that again during another dead week in League play. That was a lot of good tennis.
Jacques:
ReplyDeleteThanks for filling in and playing with us and putting up with this singles player trying to learn the nuances of doubles. It was a ton of fun (except for the cramping caused by the heat!). Next time we'll take BMO and Brandon down. It would have been bad sport to defeat the host this first time. Good luck with Garland this fall.
Wines
Anon 7:12 last night:
ReplyDeleteHow do you have so much time on your hands? It always cracks me up when I see someone researches another player's record. Note that most of my wins come in the number 2 singles slot and no, I am not one of "those high school superstars" you referred to. In fact, I did not play high school tennis (I stopped in the 9th grade and didn't touch a racquet from 1987 - 2005). I am just enjoying playing tennis again and thankfully found a team in Lifetime that has made this league tennis fun. Great group of guys and for all you haters, Eddie is THE MAN!
Wines
thanks Mark. The cool thing about the LTF team is we have a group of guys that really care about the team, working on their games, and helping their teamates improve. I am glad to be a part of that team. GO LIFETIME!! Eddie
ReplyDeleteOMG! let me be the first to say it. You guys sound GAY! quit it!
ReplyDelete(not that there is anything being wrong w gay, if that's really ur thing, blah blah blah)
yep you hear that Forrest, there is still time to run from the Rainbow club and join the SWAT team
ReplyDeleteCome on man. Just being honest. Tennis is great and you know I am as tough of a competitor as you will ever meet. But I was being serious. It makes it fun for me to know that guys getting better and making their teamates better is important to the entire team. We have that at LTF and I appreciate it.
ReplyDeleteThe really cool thing about LTF is that after matches we get to strip down, hop into the showers, get all soapy, and handle up on each other!
ReplyDeleteThat's why I joined!
Funny. Say what you want. We will still kick you ass. BTW. I think 11 of 13 on our team are married.... TO WOMEN, THAT IS.
ReplyDeleteAre the other two married to men?
ReplyDeletenot in THIS state they can't!
ReplyDeletetry some of those CA or MA teams
ReplyDeleteanon poster 3:16PM.....you opened that door wide and walked right into those next comments. Funny.
ReplyDeleteWines is solid and has a good record, but he plays line 2 singles. His record probably wouldn't be as good if he played line 1 every week.
ReplyDeleteCary how many more ringers are you going to add to your team before the season is over? Got anymore recent high school superstars like Noaman to put out there against us old guys?
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure if Noaman counts as a "recent" high schooler. I think he graduated from high school around 2000 and now practices law in Dallas.
ReplyDeleteWhat's his background? Don't know a lot about him before 2007.
ReplyDeleteYou must not know my guys if you are calling them high schoolers. The Azhars are in their 20s but the rest of us are old just like you guys.
ReplyDeleteI do have a recruiting trip planned to a D3 college in case Walters or Somabut sign up anyone else.
so if you're old, what are the guys who went to high school in the 70's considered. Does thier high school play account for "ringer" status at 4.0?
ReplyDeleteDidn't know we were supposed to limit ringers. I thought the idea was to attempt to win as many matches as possible, my bad. It would be nice to see a Dallas 4.0 or 4.5 team make it back to Nationals one of these years, regardless of what the dumbasses calling for fair play say. Go comment to all the teams that have made Nationals over the past couple of years, not teams in your own city that have done nothing yet. Sounds like some jealousy issues to me.
ReplyDeleteYes, let us field a team of 8 college, HS, or Foreign ringers then ride their coat tails into the Nationals. That sounds like fun.
ReplyDeleteFor me, I would rather play my seven matches, than let some douche bag who likes picking on weaker players fight my battles.
Anon 7:29am YOU ARE SO RIGHT.
ReplyDeleteIn 3.5 they had guys like Sisk and SNOTjock who didn't think they could beat top 3.5 players on their own. So they recruited a couple 4.5 level players (Flora n Courtney) to play for them. Then Nancy Noel was caught lying on numerous blogs trying to cover up for them.
It is not about having 7-8 guys like that. You need to have 2 hight end level guys that are at or close to 4.5 to make it out of sectionals. I am sure you have never attended a sectionals match, but that is how it is.
ReplyDeleteWhy are you talking about 3.5 on the 4.0 blog? Go make your point where no one cares.
ReplyDeleteyep, I created a 3.5 thread so please stay there because the Garland boat has sailed and calm down their big ringer got DQ'ed so all is not lost for you.
ReplyDeleteI don't think any team has stacked up with College and Foreign players here at 4.0 so not sure what you are crying about. As far as High school superstar, that is a relative term depending on your high school. And if you are sooooo old stick to playing seniors because good high school players are 4.0.
No one said all HS players are superstars. But the top Highland Park HS players play about 4.5 every year. That's fact.
ReplyDeleteI agre with the last few comments. We are not to talk about HS ringers on the 4.0 blog. And winning and cheating are not two words that should be used as readily interchangable. If you think those words are almost the same, you need to go back to college and take that ethics class you missed out on.
ReplyDeleteAnd to answer: August 28, 2008 5:15 AM
The answer is NO. You are no longer considered a ringer. You MUST subsitute the word OLD instead.
Most years Highland Park's top players are considerably higher than 4.5. Most end up playing tennis at D1 colleges.
ReplyDeleteCourtney played line 6 for HP and he is nowhere near 4.5, healthy or unhealthy.
ReplyDeleteIt is very clear some of these bitter old 3.5ers have never come out and watched a competetive 4.5 match.
Have seen many competitive 4.5 matches including Branch's team at Sectionals. Have also seen Highland Park HS playing for a state title. The top guns at HP are 4.5+. That's a fact no matter how many morons say different. Clearly Courtney is not at that level right now. But he is young and athletic and when he gets healthy it won't take him too long to get back to where he was. So look out level 4.0 in 2009.
ReplyDeleteWe are very scared of this 3.5 bump up. Shaking in our boots.
ReplyDeleteFor real? Still the same crying about the same shit...WOW...you really need some help. Don't you think we all get your point of view. Come up with some new material...please...it is getting old!
ReplyDelete3.5 bump ups suck. Now we have to put up with their whining on the 4.0 blog stream. There is no 3.5 bump up that is going to rock the world at the 4.0 level. There are no worries here. Whoever you whiners are.....please appeal and go back down to the 3.5 level so we don't have to read the whining. Or man up and grow a pair. Or go play for the LTF gay team. :)
ReplyDeleteMore gays at Garland than LTF
ReplyDeleteIt is almost always the cheaters than come on here and post anon and say "man up" or quit whining" etc. That just some piece of crap like Nancy Noel or ROTjock positng anon.
ReplyDeleteAll right, just got the schedule. SP plays HP/Bazan the last week at SP. Guaranteed - plenty of beer and the 0-7 SP will upset the mighty HP.

Here are two player bios from two recent Highland Park grads. If you think they are just 4.5 you are the biggest idiot on this blog and that is saying a lot.
One plays at the University of Texas and the other plays at the University of Arkansas.
UT is ranked #4 in Division 1
Arkanas is #50.
According to the General & Experienced Player Guidleline Suppliment to NTRP Guidelines they would have to rate as 6.0s.
That seems to me to be considerably higher than 4.5+
So you are the moron!
LOL -- this is your line of proof. So if I go to a high school and my line 1 and line 2 guys get Div 1 college scholarships and I play line 6 that automatically makes me a 4.5.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the laugh old timer.
"Have seen many competitive 4.5 matches including Branch's team at Sectionals. Have also seen Highland Park HS playing for a state title. The top guns at HP are 4.5+. That's a fact no matter how many morons say different."
ReplyDeleteHere they are talking about HP's top guns. Another recent HP grad, Casey Powers plays at TCU #34 Division 1 again, a 6.0 rating.
I have never seen Courtney play, but I know that the top HP players are no where near 4.5. To try and say they are 4.5+ make you an idiot. Nadal is 4.5+. +2.5.
nice to hear from you Walters, I am ready to start. I like we are playing you all last, we hope that match won't mean anything and we can toast a beer as we both make the playoffs.
ReplyDeleteSound good?
LT
If Zack was so good, how come he didn't get offered one of these Div. 1 scholarships? I'm sure he didn't pay for college because he wanted to.
ReplyDeleteHow do you respond to a guy that brings Nadal into the conversation? Yes, you are correct, Nadal is not a 4.5. Thank you for your input.
ReplyDeleteThey call me Lucky....Lucky Thunder.
ReplyDeleteThunder d. Molina 6-3, 6-2.
Nancy I am about to make you my biatch.
Bold prediction v. Noel. I will get a total of 5 games. Shouldn't he spot me a set or something.
Nancy 6-1 6-2 Lucky Thunder reduced to partly cloudy.
ReplyDeleteLooping Backhand Pirate will lose 1& 1. go Noel. If LBP gets more than 4 games off you Noel, I will have to join the others by calling you Nancy.
ReplyDeletevery funny anon.
ReplyDeleteI am predicting scattered showers, oh wait that sounds dirty, like something that goes on at the LTF practices.
Funny. I not a fan of those Lifetime guys much either.
ReplyDeleteHey. LBP you are a roll. One more win and you are .500 in the Ladder. Too bad you got Noel next. You are like the Rangers. Get close to .500 and here comes a few L's
ReplyDeleteTo the poster anon at 4:33. Is your battle cry really that there are 'more gays at Garland than at LTF'.
ReplyDeleteIf so, then yes I'm willing to give that point to you. While both teams are clearly gay....Garland has more.
Is that better?
Major Blow-outs in the Quarters in the Blog Tourny,
ReplyDeleteMajor Blow-J*bs @ LTF
that's very good. a grown up approach. actually no gays on the Lifetime 4.0 team. Let's talk tennis and what is going to happen in Fall or 1st week matches. this gay stuff is like 5th grade talk.
ReplyDeleteCary. What are the best interflight matches next week? Are there any possible playoff previews?
ReplyDeleteBest match-ups seem to be in C&D are Brookhaven/Pearlman vs the Lakes. Eagles Landing vs Oak Creek 2. Marcos will get his ass handed to him as will his team. Brookhaven should beat Lakes.
ReplyDeleteI'll put something up later but remember C/D flights just play scrimmages on 9/7 so only A/B play real matches next weekend.
ReplyDeleteCake walk for HP/Bazan until last week vs SP. Flight A is bad except for those 2 teams. Nice line-up Cary
ReplyDelete1. The real Steve Kent
2. No Man No Man
1 The Bowman Brothers
2. Bazan and Martin
3. Azhar 2 and Henson
Pretty solid team. I am sure there is a ringer in there that I don't know about.
Picking up Kirby and Frank will help Cary in doubles. They are better than the people listed. Still doesn't mean they will win a doubles line against SP.
ReplyDeleteCan that team really challenge Lifetime for the fall DCC?
ReplyDeleteboth teams could challenge LTF for sure. LTF and Bazan have good lineups and will be good but Somabut and Walters are still on top until someone goes out and beats them. I think most 4.0 teams would like to see someone different for a change but until Hill and Bazan make this happen SP and HP/Somabut are still the favs....for now.
ReplyDeleteKirby sucks. He is an average 4.0 at best.
ReplyDeleteok I just read the last few comments, is someone really calling out the scrimmage between BH and Lakes as something to care about. I do like the scrimmages to get an extra match and maybe get some of your bench guys in the lineup to see how they perform but to take anything out of these is a bit much. I know you are up for the season as I am but seriously...
ReplyDeleteI like the lineup idea but not sure I like all the doubles pairings but we will try this one and get back to you on how it works.
I agree on your Rangers comparison, I am hoping my game doesn't just go down in flames towards the end of the season like their's did. I was getting excited and planning on driving to Arlington to catch a game.
Teams are only as good as their current players. Sp and Hp have lost a lot. Lifetime has not. Can't wait to see both of the teams in the playoffs if they make it.
ReplyDeleteLiftimer,
ReplyDeleteYou might want to look at some of the current players on HP Somabut and SP Walters and see how much they have had over the past five years. A lot of City Champions, some Sectional Champions and a number with Nationals experience. Throw out the names of the Lifetime players who have ever made out of the City Championships at the 4.0 Level. I'm not sure if there even 1.
Lifetime did lose Takashi and Eddie. 2 of their top 3 players. I know Eddie will hate to hear this, but there is no guarantee he ever swings a tennis racket again. Surgery's like he had are very serious and many people never make it all the way back.
ReplyDeleteBill Wennington has 3 NBA Championship rings. If he and Jud Buchler were still on the Bulls today the team could claim to have players that have won a total of 6 NBA Championships. That sounds great, but without Jordan and Pippen that team and worth a sh*t.
ReplyDeleteANON 11:35am. You obviously don't know Eddie. He will be back and will be better than he was prior to the injury.
ReplyDeleteLifetimer, I knew Bill Wennington. Bill Wennington was a friend of mine.
ReplyDeleteLifetimer, you're no Bill Wennington.
But I'm sure Eddie thinks he is Jordan....:)
Yes, Jud Buchler and Bill Wennington have 3 championship rings. Again, who on Lifetime has EVER even contributed to a championship 4.0 tennis team.
ReplyDeleteAnswer: NONE
I'll take contributors and champions over never wases anyday.
Do something, then let us know.
Will you shut up when we win the fall DCC.
ReplyDeleteThat's what you said this past season!
ReplyDeleteI've never seen some much said about so little in my life...
ReplyDelete3rd best team in Dallas out of 32 teams in the spring is pretty good. We won the bronze. So call us the Redeem team, going to get the gold in the Fall. #1 out of 34.
ReplyDeleteeven the redeem team had a legacy to live up to, ltf has squat
ReplyDeleteWe're #3. We're #3. We're #3.
ReplyDeleteLifetimer....that's quite a battle cry you got going there.
You aint the dream team. You aint the redeem team. You're the "never won anything but still brag a bunch while bending over and squeeling like a pig for my fellow team mate" team.
Whew... I feel better now. :)
Kirby throws his rackets. Maybe alot when he plays with Bazan!!!
ReplyDeleteKirby should drink a few before the match so he can blame the rage on the beer:):):)
ReplyDeleteKirby plays 4.5 doubles you know:)
ReplyDeleteKirby sky's the ball four courts down when he's mad.
ReplyDeleteL.A. Fitness does'nt have any championship rings!
ReplyDeleteHeard Kirby quit Bob's team cause Bob never played him in the playoffs. But why would you play for a team with 20+ guys on it where 75% of the players are better than you. Of course you're never going to play when it matters.
ReplyDeletewow bob played 15 different guys at 4.0 sectionals and kirby was not in the top 15!
ReplyDeleteMan.. Kirby is getting some heat for no reason. I wouldnt underestimate Kirby.
ReplyDeleteHe's not good enough to underestimate.
ReplyDeleteThere is no way Kirby was not good enough to play at sectionals or cities. If you have played against him you know that. he is stronger than at the very least 1/2 of that Somabut team.
ReplyDeleteI think he make a great choice to join the new guard at High Point.
He would have gotten killed at sectionals. When he was a captain he always played himself with the strongest player on his team. That is the only way he can win. He has average 4.0 groundstrokes, 3.5 volleys, and a 3.0 woman serve.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait for the start of the season. Until then, it looks like just a lot of air blowing around.

ReplyDelete"Throw out the names of any lifetimers that have gotten out of 4.0 city" not even 1.
Lifetime Fitness' first 4.0 Match was 9/14/2006
Not to mention that 3 of the current 4.0 players got out of city and played in Sectionals at 3.5 level for LTF. I think Eddie went 3-0 in singles at sectionals.
ReplyDeleteNobody cares who did what at 3.5. Do something at 4.0, and you will get the respect you are looking for. Until then your just something funny to read on a blog.
ReplyDeleteyou can only go off of the history you have. Several of the LTF guys have been bumped up in the past 18 months. That is just fact.
ReplyDeleteThat's true, Kirby only wins when he is the supporting player. Hai carried him. And who exactly should he have played in front of on Bob's team at sectionals? Chirp, chirp, chirp...
ReplyDeleteKirby does not always win in the supporting roll. Sometimes he is too heavy to carry.
ReplyDeleteKirby has a gay fist pump.
ReplyDeleteAnd Kirby was guilty of Nancy disease once when he evaulated himself as a 4.3. Not sure how he gets to 4.3 when 1/2 his game is around a 3.3 (3.0 serve and 3.6 backhand). Don't think his forehand and volleys are 5.3. He does however have a pretty hot wife, which makes him ok in my book.
ReplyDeleteKirby is a stud.
ReplyDeleteSo Lifetime's 4.0 team has been around two years and had no success past City Playoffs. No one in 4.0 cares what anyone did in 3.5. As was proven this year, Eddie will be a workable #2 singles player at 4.0, no more, if he makes a complete recovery from his surgery.
ReplyDeleteKirby is hung like a quarter horse.
ReplyDeleteMy wife blushes when she she's kirby walk out onto the court. How do you think I feel? I'm glad he doe'nt play on my team anymore!
ReplyDeleteMy God!!! Have you seen the size of that Thing? I think he was in the XXX movie "Once Upon A Golden Rod".
ReplyDeleteI know, he has a 10.0"+ pant size. Would'nt you give up forehands, backhands, serves and volleys for that? I mean the guy out ranks all of us. If your playing H.P., don't bring your wife or girlfriend.
ReplyDeletewhy is everyone beating up on kirby so bad... what did he ever do?
ReplyDeleteSay's the guy who is larger than Kirby.
ReplyDeleteI think they are trying to sell tickets to their matches.
ReplyDeleteHe analyzed his own game. Anyone who does that gets gets much deserved ridicule. You can only talk about your own game if you are a 6.5 or better.
ReplyDeleteKirby can play, post your name and he'll school you!
ReplyDeleteSisk
