Instead of going through every match, I will highlight the important matchups of the flight. With all of the rain, very little has been established in any flight since all the teams have played a different amount of matches. The forecast this week should be a little better and we should learn more about the teams.
Flight A
Nothing exciting this week. Weak v. strong unless a team can pull an upset. Really will be amazed if Ludwig's team is 4-0 but I will still predict them to miss the playoffs. Their last 3 weeks are against Greenhill, T Bar, and Feldman. They will most likely have to win two of those three to advance and I don't see how that happens.
Flight B
Feature match is between Royal Oaks and Juhn this week. Both teams are coming off losses but Royal Oaks is still expected to make the playoffs. A win by Juhn would make this flight much more interesting though. DFW and Lifetime could also be an interesting match. I would say loser drops out of contention officially.
Flight C
LB Houston v. Lakes has to be the most intriguing matchup. Both teams are certainly a surprise thus far and I think we will see who the true contender is this week between the two. The Lakes team has gotten progressively stronger each year and I look for them to move to 3-0. For now, I'm counting LB Houston's opening week win as a fluke. Hackberry and Oak Creek is also intriguing. This flight really seems to be very evenly balanced, much more than I thought originally.
Any thoughts?
Yea, flight C is the most interesting this weekend b/w Oak Creek vs Hackberry and LB Hou Baird vs Lakes
ReplyDeleteON flight B, Bovermann actually has a bye this week (they play Royal Oaks next week). I am actually curious to what pans out b/w DFW hilton vs Lifetime. DFW took 2 of the 3 doubles lines against Bovermann (they defaulted both singles and lost 2-3). If DFW can get 8 guys out, depending how they line up their singles guys, it could be a good match.
My mistake. Too much rain to keep up. I fixed it. Too many Oak Creek teams too. I do think DFW is much stronger with the addition of Huffman. That's almost a guaranteed win. They took a doubles line against us last time too and played close with us at line 1. I've noticed their lineups are much stronger for home matches though.
ReplyDeleteLB Houston Baird beats Lakes.
ReplyDeletePrevious post a prediction or a result?
ReplyDeleteDefinitely soothsaying if post date is correct.
ReplyDeleteLakes beat LB Houston Baird 3-2. Tough match
ReplyDeleteOC 4 Hack 1
ReplyDeleteLifetimes wins 3-2 over DFW Hilton. Swept in Singles...Sweeps doubs. watch out for LTF
ReplyDeleteI am a first year bump up, and I have to say 4.5 tennis is exciting. I would rather lose at 4.5 tennis than win at 4.0 tennis. The matches are just so satisfying. So many great points contained in just a single game, let alone the match. FUN STUFF!
ReplyDeleteCan't believe Baird lost. Nice Win for The Lakes.
ReplyDeleteBaird's team does not have the depth to succeed. Lakes has strong depth but no unbeatable lines. I'm not surprised that the Lakes won.
ReplyDeleteAnybody know the story on the line 3 doubles that retired for Royal Oaks? Seems odd to say the least.
ReplyDeleteTBar with the big comeback against Feldman in the completion of last week's match. 2 lines were made up Saturday and TBar won both to pull out a 3-2 win.
ReplyDeleteFall playoff ticket punched.
Props to BH Ludwig for the 4-0 start. The cinderella story ends there though.
Not just props, but MAJOR props to BH Ludwig. No one could've seen 4-0 and first place in the flight coming.
ReplyDeleteEven so, if they win two of their three final matches, it's still possible that they miss the playoffs. T Bar-Schnittker and OC-Feldman still loom on the schedule, and they'll be contending with them to advance.
I agree. Great story, but Ludwig and crew turn in their glass slippers soon and ride home the rest of the way in a rotted pumpkin.
ReplyDeleteDateline Plano, Texas. Headline THE EGO HAS LANDED, EDDIE HILL 0-2 IN 4.5 TENNIS SO FAR THIS SEASON. What is this blog coming to? No wonder its been so quiet!
ReplyDeleteIs Eddie tanking?
ReplyDeleteYes. Eddie is tanking so he can get bumped back to 4.0. I know this for a fact.
ReplyDeleteNOT!!!!
I am not tanking at all. Lost 2 tough matches to solid 4.5 players. My singles match was closer than score indicates as I had many break points and could not close them. Anyway. I love playing 4.5. Much better quality of tennis. You have to hit the ball cleaner and have less loose points. 2 things I need to work on. I will get better, be sure of that.
GO LIFETIME!!!
Eddie
I heard its NOT supposed to rain this weekend.
ReplyDeleteThat is a pretty sweet headline about Eddie!!! Some good creativity! Keep it coming anons!
ReplyDeleteIt is a conspiracy. Everyone has decided to tank vs Ludwig & crew. Hopefully we'll get a few of those guys bumped by year-end.
ReplyDeleteour 6-game fall schedule kinda sucks
ReplyDeleteLifetime beats Oak Creek/juhn 3-2. Look out for LTF now 3-1 at 4.5
ReplyDeleteLakes 3-2 over OC/Hergert. Swept the doubs
ReplyDeleteLTF with nice win over OC-Juhn, but still with RO and OC-Bovermann on the schedule ...
ReplyDeleteLifetime has back to back showdown matches (OC and RO) to see if they are for real or not. Maybe that blowout vs Norwood was caused by 3 or 4 missing guys. We will see in the next 2 weeks. Seems like they don't have much margin for error.
