Wanted: 3.5 Blogger Pay: Non Existent Work Conditions: Terrible Perks: None If you want to be in the eye of the storm this Season, email: marc@uswebsitedesign.com
Sorry, Frankly I have no idea what is going on in Dallas tennis right now, And certainly not 3.5, You guys will have to find somebody or be forced to keep all of your Bitching, complaining, and accusations to yourselves.
How about just leaving it as an open forum each week. 9 times out of 10 the posters aren't commenting directly about what was said in the actually main page blog post anyhow.
You could just write down the following and save it. The following week you could cut and paste it and it would never change.
Sisk cheats and is having his players maanage scores. When one of his players loses (or even drops 5 games in a match) we can all say that person must be a ringer and is just managing scores.
That will just about sum it up for the whole 3.5 blog and most anons will talk about the 'honesty' of the blog and it is about time someone has the courage to call out the cheaters.
Westlake leads with an impressive start, not dropping one set. And while playing the weeker Canyon Creek team, still had 2 lines go 0-0 and 1-2. Impressive.
Garland also with a solid start not dropping a line, and playing a more seasoned team at Stonebridge.
HP Jameson gets their win, but already showing signs of a struggle having to default a line of dubs. With 17 players on their roster, you think Patrick could field a full 5 lines. This is concerning. Also, in their singles 1 rematch, Kuhn edges out Sutherland.
I think you will continue to see Garland and Westlake at the top of this flight until the end.
Flight 2
The highly anticipated Ed and crew have nothing to show with a rain out and a Bye. This division is being led with a solid performanc by Oak Creek, closely followed by Glen Eagles who edges out Fretz. Boozer takes a fall in singles so I do not think we will be seeing Fretz in the top of this flight.
Although their is no "proof in the pudding" yet, Huffines and Oakcreek lead this flight.
Flight 3
Oak Creek leads this with a solid 4-1 win against the boys from the hood. Canyon Creek Lenehan with an impressive start as well, edging out LTF Kaiser 4-1. However, 3 of those wins were in 3rd set tie-breaks.
Licking their wounds is LTF Kaiser going 0-4 in 3rd set tie breaks and starting the season off 0-2, losing to the Village in the only make up match played in 3.5. The Village loses to Brookhaven which tells me LTF has a long season ahead of them.
Too early to make a clear call in this flight as to where Brookhaven lands, but I say this is led by its current leaders from the Creeks...Oak Creek and Canyon Creek.
Epic Fail of the Week:
The boys at Lifetime with an ugly start just coming from the Spring City Playoffs. This team is really hurt by the loss of 8 players in mid-season bump ups. I wonder how many beers Kaiser had this weekend??
Although we did defeat Lifetime 4-1 on Sunday it was still some really good tennis, and I am not sure why I continue to read all the negative stuff about "lifetime" on this blog. They all seemed to be really good guys, at least the ones here at C. Creek on Sunday.
I do not have the time at all to be able to do the blog. I will try and give my input whenever possible.
Nice work Cpt Fantastic!
My Observations.
LTF is done. They lost all their core players and do not have anyone that can win on a consistent basis. Anderson who was suppose to be one of the better returning players is already 0-2 against subpar competition. It looks as though Kaiser will be in the lineup each week and there are a number of guys that are new to the team. Maybe getting redy for the Fall. I do see Eshelman won his first match at 3.5.
In flight C, CC will rebound from a very poor Spring and will win this flight. They did not seem to lose much at all to bump ups. Second place to BH who will miss Strohl/Mitterer but have enough of the core left to challenge CC for the flight, and 3rd to OC.
Flight A, this could be the toughest flight. I will not count out Sisk, although Fall season is only preparation for the Spring for Sisk. I still think they take this flight. The battle is for 2nd among a few teams, including HP, Westlake, and surprise DCC. I do think HP gets 2nd, and DCC takes third. Sorry Westlake, probably not a wise decision to leave you out of the picture, but i think you lost to much and 5-0 win against Hackberry means very little at this point. You will probably prove me wrong though.
Flight B, This is the weekest flight and Ill start off by saying I am surprised to see Fretz lose their first match to Glenn Eagles. Fretz still has a good core from the Spring to possibly win this flight, and I think they will. Swept in singles and they will miss Chen. Looks as though singles will be their achilles all year though. 2nd place will be Huffines, they lost alot but can probably get 2nd in this week flight. Third will be HP!
With all these teams looking completely different from 4.0 bump ups it is hard to predict with what is left. I am sure I will be way off, and the teams I did not pick please prove me wrong.
Captain Fantastic, Great job!! Why don't you continue to be the voice of us crappy 3.5 players. Anon2 also a good job. You 2 guys should continue doing the updates. Very hard to handicap after 1 week. My team will try to give Anons 2 pick their 2nd straight loss which should make us the favorites in our division. We'll see what happens. As usual Garland Sisk should be a Big Favorite to Win the Playoffs. Good Luck to all the teams playing in the fall!!!
I was looking through the 3.5 teams and I noticed that almost all of the top 3.5s got moved up. Clark/Wiley from Sisk and Watanabe from Jameson were about the only ones I think should be moved up and were not. I am guessing lots of midseason bumps will get moved back down at year end and Clark/Wiley/Watanabe will probably get bumped at year end.
I don't know how anyone can know much about these rosters.
I agree and Clark and Wiley are generally just one line. Wiley would not do as well if he did not have Clark so splitting them up does not help Sisk much. I wouldn't be surprised to see Wiley back at 3.5 after next year. His results haven't been very good until he played with Clark.
Greg Wiley Keith Clark Lee Kuhn (back again) Tony Watanabe Jim Bostick Micky Carr Stephen Decordova Robert Gass Nitin Jayaram Richard Waters John Brownlee Jim Burns Bert Bedford
Sisk is probably the team to beat. Kevin Ho is a bump down from Somabut's team, Morris Connelly came from the Sam Grand team. David Smith was a bump down too. He has some players and not just Clark and Wiley. Clark and Wiley may be their best doubles line but neither are as good as Connelly and Ho. Sisk's fall team is on par with his spring team.
In case you guys did not know. 3.5 in Dallas is now a 3.0 division. The DTA bumped any and all good players up to 4.0 and bumped up higher level 4.0's to 4.5 to balance it out. 3.5 now truly fits the rating guidelines assigned by the USTA.
3.5 per USTA "This player has achieved improved stroke dependability with directional control on moderate shots, but still lacks depth and variety. This player exihibits more aggressive net play, has improved court coverage, and is developing teamwork in doubles."
3.5 = Just a little better than a newcomer to tennis.
11:12 AM poster makes no sense, "3.5 Division is now truly a 3.0 Division" because players are playing at the USTA description of 3.5. ???
An obvious recent 4.0 bump up, who is evidently losing at 4.0 and has to feel justified hanging out on the 3.5 blog.
Thanks to Captain Fantastic and Anon 2 to get some discussion going. Obviously, (due to the few posts on this blog) all the loud mouth trash talking anons were in the most recent bump up and are now expelling their hot air on the 4.0 blog.
"HP Jameson gets their win, but already showing signs of a struggle having to default a line of dubs. With 17 players on their roster, you think Patrick could field a full 5 lines. This is concerning. Also, in their singles 1 rematch, Kuhn edges out Sutherland."
Concerning? Really, to who? Line 1 singles results are incorrect - Sutherland beat Kuhn 6-7, 6-3, 1-0 for those apparently concerned.
Captain Fantastic, thanks for taking one for the team. Since you're new to the position we promise to take it easy on you and not start bashing you until your second week of hosting.
Why is Eddie Hill aka Capt. Fantastic taking over the 3.5 blog. I heard that he demands his team only address him as "Capt. Fantastic" so it has to be him...
HP v Garland is definitely match of the week. I like GTC in that one but HP has alot of new self rates so it will be interesting. Self Rate often means ringer but we will have to wait and see.
There is a good chance that these are the 2 best teams in the city and it could come down to who can get their players out. For some reason, this is a big problem in the fall.
Here we go again with all this Garland hype. Please, we all know it was a Garland player in the Spring and it is one now. Garland loves to toot their own horn as well as tooting eachother's horns! We will kick their ass this weekend!
To the last anon poster, Big talk from a no name. What will you have to say after you get your ass kicked by Garland???? Big match in B-flight Fretz-Huffhines both were favorites to win the flight. Greenhill is weak with a lucky win last week will get beat this week!!!! What the hell happened to Lifetime and all their usual big talk??? 0-2.
Outside of Wiley and Clark who does Garland have coming back from the spring that can play? Why do people think they are going to be good or is it just an assumption?
I saw wire and gutierrez at sectionals and they where avg 3.5's the team I saw them play and struggle against wasnt very good and neither of them has much of a serve. Maybe they were off that match.
finally the 3.5 blog is becoming interesting with some "clean" trash talking and some predictions. I like Anon 2's predictions with line calls. Should be interesting to see how accurate he is.
Wiley and Clark are solid. Wiley just let's you think he can't play that well, always complaining about this hurt or that hurt. He let's his opponent think he is weak and has them let their defenses down. Then he steps up his game when he needs to get the win.
It should be interesting to see how Sisk uses Wiley and Clark. Does he use them each week at 3.5 and secure a line to get to the play-offs, knowing they most likely get bumped at year end. Or does he get "durty" and have them tank matches at the 4.0 an 3.5 level to keep their ratings for the Spring. We will be watching Big John !!!
That is definitely the Wiley M.O. He may be the whiniest player about injuries and then simply goes out and wins pretty much every match. He keeps his scores close in matches he knows he can win and then turns it up when it matters. Anybody who watched the Clark/Wiley v Bennett/Arcaria at cities could tell that he was the best player on the court and he looked like crap in other matches until the other team would get close. He did it at 3.0 and then at 3.5 but that comes to an end next year when he finally gets where he belongs. Personally, I think he is a nice likable guy with a very funny sense of humor but his on court antics and whining can make you roll your eyes.
Wow, when Greg first joined my team last season all you read was he's an average/below and wouldn't help the team--blablabla. Now 5 months later, post sectionals, everyone looks at his record and now sees the value.
As far as the injuries, he has surgical scars to prove to any non-believer and to suggest this is some tactic to win, is insane.
Clark/Wiley will be bumped end of year even if they didn't play this fall. They will play together every week unless one of them can't go. The more appropiate question is which line? lol
spineless anon------I don't WORRY about which line to put them on, it takes less than a nanosecond to decide where to put them.
You are right, absolutely right, they don't belong at 4.0, they belong on my 3.5 Spring team. Please send Tosha a letter, that way I'll only have to focus on winning 2/4 lines. I like those odds!!!! lol
3.5 is alive!! We almost have more posts now than 4.0 and 4.5 combined !!! Sisk - great to see you are still out there dealing with the anons!! Can you show us his scar from his pulled groing?? I bet you can big boy !!
Poor wiley. At the beginning ofthe spring he was a '3.5 lifer' with 'average talent at best'. Now you're bitching because you want him out of 3.5. Here's hoping you aren't a captain with your ability to judge talent.
This is clearly the most interesting and explosive division and should have somebody in the thick of it admining the 3.5 blog weekly.
ReplyDeleteemail me and let me know if that is you
Marc, Even though you play in Ft.Worth now you still know all the Dallas players and did a great job last season why don't you still do it. Grandpa Ed
ReplyDeleteI second the nomination for Marc to continue with the 3.5 blog!!! Can I get a witness!!!
ReplyDeleteSorry,
ReplyDeleteFrankly I have no idea what is going on in Dallas tennis right now,
And certainly not 3.5,
You guys will have to find somebody or be forced to keep all of your Bitching, complaining, and accusations to yourselves.
I think Ratty and Dr. Prather should take over the 3.5 blog.
ReplyDeleteunfortunately,
ReplyDeleteThis is not open to nomination.
Somebody actually has to volunteer.
How about just leaving it as an open forum each week. 9 times out of 10 the posters aren't commenting directly about what was said in the actually main page blog post anyhow.
ReplyDeleteThat actually is a good idea. Just type 3.5 Summary - and let anons fill in the rest.
ReplyDeleteYou could just write down the following and save it. The following week you could cut and paste it and it would never change.

Let's focus on the positives, and not the negatives! heck, many of us might not even be 3.5s next spring anyway, so it won't even affect us.
ReplyDeleteKlamecki, is that you fashioning the Help Wanted sign? The past year or so of blogging really *has* aged you ...
ReplyDeleteWeek 1 recap. Anon 2, please fill in the blanks.

ReplyDeleteCapt Fantastic - What an excellent right up! Nice Job!

ReplyDeleteNotable returning 3.5 names (not many)
ReplyDeleteGreg Wiley
Keith Clark
Lee Kuhn (back again)
Tony Watanabe
Jim Bostick
Micky Carr
Stephen Decordova
Robert Gass
Nitin Jayaram
Richard Waters
John Brownlee
Jim Burns
Bert Bedford
He can split Wiley and Clark up since there is not much competition. The team does not look like it has much beyond them, but they will eventually.
ReplyDeleteWiley is a good player. With all the 3.5 departures he is one of the top doubles players left.
ReplyDeleteSisk is probably the team to beat. Kevin Ho is a bump down from Somabut's team, Morris Connelly came from the Sam Grand team. David Smith was a bump down too. Current Fall Leagues
ReplyDeleteWomen's 3.0 > Men's 3.5
Always has to be a hater in the group, doesn't there?
ReplyDelete11:12 AM poster makes no sense, "3.5 Division is now truly a 3.0 Division" because players are playing at the USTA description of 3.5. ???

4.0 blog is tame as well. Same crap is said every season bagging on 3.5 tennis.
ReplyDeleteIf Cary Bazaan is too good to get bumped back to 3.5, I think that tells you what level they want 3.5 players to look like.
ReplyDeleteOk any ringers this season? Who are the best unknown players this season?
ReplyDeleteGtc won the Spring------They win the fall, only team in history to do both in same calender year!
ReplyDeleteCapt fantastic,

Why is Prather holding the help wanted sign in the picture? I didnt know he had anything to do with this blog.
ReplyDeletePrather is trying to get moved down to 3.5, he will try anything
ReplyDeleteA big welcome to Capt. Fantastic!!! For taking over the 3.5 blog, I look forward to your "take" on the 3.5 world here in Dallas.
ReplyDeleteGo Captain Fantastic!! Anything will be an improvement over Klamecki's biased posts.
ReplyDeletewhen you give an opinion, which a good blog host should do, they will be biased!
ReplyDelete"HP Jameson gets their win, but already showing signs of a struggle having to default a line of dubs. With 17 players on their roster, you think Patrick could field a full 5 lines. This is concerning. Also, in their singles 1 rematch, Kuhn edges out Sutherland."
ReplyDeleteConcerning? Really, to who?
Line 1 singles results are incorrect - Sutherland beat Kuhn 6-7, 6-3, 1-0 for those apparently concerned.
Which HP player is so testy? Geez, tennislink says Kuhn wins and most people think it is right. It needs to be corrected.
ReplyDeleteNow that we have a blog writer, can I start complaining about why the blog has not been writeen for this week?
ReplyDelete10:02 AM poster -
ReplyDeleteThe concerning thing is having to default a line when you have 17 players on a roster, not the result of line 1 singles.
Someone needs to let Jane know if the scores are incorrectly reported, but as of now, tennis link shows Kuhn beating Sutherland.
Someone can't be at all games and has to rely on what tennis link reports.
So Brookhaven or HP players, who won the singles 1 match on Sunday?? Kuhn or Sutherland ??
ReplyDeleteFYI -
ReplyDeleteCapt Fantastic has not contacted me yet.
You may want to keep the celebration in check.
You did a good job Marc! Thanks for the year. Catch you in FT Worth sometime or Lewisville even. Cheers
ReplyDeletewhen was David Smith 4.0? I couldn't find it.
ReplyDeleteCaptain Fantastic, thanks for taking one for the team. Since you're new to the position we promise to take it easy on you and not start bashing you until your second week of hosting.
ReplyDeleteWhy is Eddie Hill aka Capt. Fantastic taking over the 3.5 blog. I heard that he demands his team only address him as "Capt. Fantastic" so it has to be him...
ReplyDeletethat was a g and not an n in Eddie's fantastic.
ReplyDeleteBig Matches this week:
ReplyDeleteFlight A:
GTC v HP-Seems like these 2 teams play alot and it is always a big match. Pick GTC 3-2.
Not much else in this flight
Flight B:
Gleneagles v Greenhill
Pick Greenhill 3-2
Nothing much going on here either.
Flight C:
CC v Brookhaven: 2 unbeatens. Pick: CC 3-2.
Not much else going on here either.
Eddie is not Capt. Fantastic.
ReplyDeleteLifetimer??? Maybe.... Capt Fantastic..NO
HP v Garland is definitely match of the week. I like GTC in that one but HP has alot of new self rates so it will be interesting. Self Rate often means ringer but we will have to wait and see.
ReplyDeleteI predict Garland goes 5-0. And No, I am not from Garland, nor am I a Garland fan.
ReplyDeleteI would be shocked if Garland wins 5-0.
ReplyDeleteThere is a good chance that these are the 2 best teams in the city and it could come down to who can get their players out. For some reason, this is a big problem in the fall.
"For some reason"?
ReplyDeleteNFL Football is in the fall so Sunday leagues are tough to get players out for. They may use Church as an excuse but we all know the real reason.....
Here we go again with all this Garland hype. Please, we all know it was a Garland player in the Spring and it is one now. Garland loves to toot their own horn as well as tooting eachother's horns! We will kick their ass this weekend!
ReplyDeleteTo the last anon poster, Big talk from a no name. What will you have to say after you get your ass kicked by Garland???? Big match in B-flight Fretz-Huffhines both were favorites to win the flight. Greenhill is weak with a lucky win last week will get beat this week!!!! What the hell happened to Lifetime and all their usual big talk??? 0-2.
ReplyDeleteGarland's fall lineup is not as strong as it was in the spring. Of course every other good team has the same issue.
ReplyDeleteLTF lost their entire team jackass! Every starter is gone.
ReplyDeletestill fishing for sympathy for LFT? you're on the wrong blog.
ReplyDeleteSympathy? LTF just realistic about their team. They are not that good this Fall, why would they toot their horn?
ReplyDeletePredictions!!
ReplyDeleteFlight A
DCC 4-1 over Stonebridge
GTC 3-2 over HP
Westlake 4-1 over Hackberry
BH 3-2 over Royal Oaks
Flight B
HP 4-1 over Stonebriar
OC 3-2 over Lakes
Glenn Eagles 3-2 over GH
Fretz 3-2 over Huffines (match of week)
Flight C
BH 3-2 over CC (Match of week)
OC 4-1 over El Dorado
LTF 3-2 over SamGrand
Village 3-2 over LBH
Outside of Wiley and Clark who does Garland have coming back from the spring that can play? Why do people think they are going to be good or is it just an assumption?
ReplyDeleteIt is just an assumption that Garland will be good. Wiley and Clark are solid but they are very beatable.
ReplyDeletehaven't seen them play but wire/gutierrez went 3-1 at sectionals for gtc. they also lost this week in their springpark match.
ReplyDeleteI saw wire and gutierrez at sectionals and they where avg 3.5's the team I saw them play and struggle against wasnt very good and neither of them has much of a serve. Maybe they were off that match.
ReplyDeletefinally the 3.5 blog is becoming interesting with some "clean" trash talking and some predictions. I like Anon 2's predictions with line calls. Should be interesting to see how accurate he is.
ReplyDeleteWiley and Clark are solid. Wiley just let's you think he can't play that well, always complaining about this hurt or that hurt. He let's his opponent think he is weak and has them let their defenses down. Then he steps up his game when he needs to get the win.

He did it at 3.0 and then at 3.5 but that comes to an end next year when he finally gets where he belongs. Personally, I think he is a nice likable guy with a very funny sense of humor but his on court antics and whining can make you roll your eyes.
ReplyDeleteWow, when Greg first joined my team last season all you read was he's an average/below and wouldn't help the team--blablabla. Now 5 months later, post sectionals, everyone looks at his record and now sees the value.

Clark/Wiley will be bumped end of year even if they didn't play this fall. They will play together every week unless one of them can't go. The more appropiate question is which line? lol
ReplyDeleteSisk,
ReplyDeleteIf you have to worry what line you play them at then they dont belong at 4.0.
Oh by the way, you talking about "tatics" after the shit you pulled in cities is the pot calling the kettle black!
Just STFU for once would you please!
spineless anon------I don't WORRY about which line to put them on, it takes less than a nanosecond to decide where to put them.
ReplyDeleteYou are right, absolutely right, they don't belong at 4.0, they belong on my 3.5 Spring team. Please send Tosha a letter, that way I'll only have to focus on winning 2/4 lines. I like those odds!!!! lol
3.5 is alive!! We almost have more posts now than 4.0 and 4.5 combined !!!
ReplyDeleteSisk - great to see you are still out there dealing with the anons!!
ReplyDeleteI am really looking forward to a new topic.
ReplyDeleteSorry guys, but I am not giving any groin viewings. Just the thought about that is disturbing.
