So I am calling on your weather geeks, I know you people are out there that check the radar on your phone every few minutes. We are calling on your predictions to see who will get to play this weekend.
I have a back up plan of visiting Elmo at the My Gym in Frisco (Lebanon/Legacy) 10a-2p on Saturday.
If the matches do happen here are some good ones.
Flight A:
Lakes v. SWAT 3pm @ Lakes
A rematch of a very tough Spring match that almost knocked us out of the post season. I expect another tough match. Last year we played on a Thursday night due to a rain out hopefully that doesn't not happen again. Will the Mighty Greenhill/Russouw team drop a set against the new Stars team, I heard they are going for all bagels, how cruel are they????
Flight B
Don't expect too much action here other than to possibly see who will be a bottom dweller here. I will be interested to see if Garland will be tested at all v. Fretz who isn't a bad team.
Flight C
Canyon Creek v. BH/Pearlman is a little spicy but BH should pull out a close win to get going on what should be a good season for them. The Village is a popular pick to finish near the top but they lost to Garland/2 last season and I am not so sure it might not happen again. Upset alert!
Flight D
BH v. Lifetime could be interesting. I know LTF lost a lot of players but Brinkman, McAfee, Gonzalez Moore, and Shahab are still on this team oh yeah and Bennett too. Oops I forgot Yoshi and the Hulkamaniac Gerber as well. This team will be a threat and I am picking them to win this match.
So here is hoping we get to play this weekend. If not feel free to come visit a fabulous Blockbuster store at Preston/Lebanon. (Yep BMO and Brandon, I moved come drive 5 minutes East and see us) USTA discount? Maybe?
Well here goes -Some thoughts on 3.5 Fall Teams

Sisk and Ratcliffe doing it again.
GOOD LUCK TOO ALL FALL TEAMS!!!!
I'm betting on the rain. Those playing early maybe will be able to squeegee and get it in before more comes in.
ReplyDeletecary -- how can you leave the legacy/lebanon store? its the happenin' spot in Frisco
-- rockettman
Our 4.5 league has only 8 teams so we each play only 7 matches.
ReplyDeleteBetter idea would be to have 2 flights of four teams. Each team plays twice against the teams in their own flight and each team plays once against the teams in the other flight. That would be a clean, easy way to give each team 10 matches.
But maybe thats too hard for Jane and Brian to understand.
john kraemer seems like a ok guy maybe he will bring some improvements to league admin in 2010
ReplyDeleteLucky for you, our 4.5 division has 7 teams, so only 6 matches.
ReplyDeleteYeah, the 4.5 league actually has 22 teams. Last season, we had 20 and got 9 matches. This season, we added two teams and get three less matches. Doesn't really matter too much to me since I played 8 times last season which was too much but 6 matches is barely a season.
ReplyDeleteThere are lots of ways to set it up so that all teams play more than 6 or 7 matches.
ReplyDeleteScheduling make-up matches really sucks.
ReplyDeletelifetime lost. that is to bad.
ReplyDeleteI know the one match I picked and it was the only match played and I missed it. Not by much though. What happened _Y_?
ReplyDeletethat didnt make any sense
ReplyDeletewho is (_Y_)?
ReplyDelete(_Y_) didn't happen. LTF won both singles lines and lost all three dubs. One was a 10-8 third set tie break and the other dubs lines lost. (_Y_) and Bennett got beat at line 3, probably screwing around.
ReplyDeleteI see lft tradition carries on
ReplyDeleteLooks like Eddie won the San Antonio tourney pretty easily. Good job Eddie.
ReplyDelete(y) and bennett lost to those to those old farts??? Give me a break, can you say "tanking"???
ReplyDeleteIsn't that what this season is all about....
ReplyDeleteMaybe Y is trying to not get bumped up at end of the season.
ReplyDeleteIs that back to back Major's for Eddie? How good was that LTF team with Mudsam, Myers, Hill playing singles, only to bow out at Sectionals.
ReplyDeleteMudsam and Myers DNP vs Austin and Hill won Line 2 Doubs with (Y).
ReplyDeleteNICE LINE-UP!!!!! Go HP
Eddie screwed up his line-ups at Sectionals or LTF would have won it instead of HP. LTF was the best 4.0 in Texas but didnt get it done when it mattered.
ReplyDeleteMight be a good idea to give Brookhaven some credit here. Bartlett combined with Helterbran and they have 19 players. Bartlett always has doubles players and he showed it Saturday.
ReplyDeleteLFT had strong singles players, but were weak in doubles. HP would take all 3 doubles lines every time. It really doesn't matter because they couldn't get passed Abilene anyway.
ReplyDeleteAs always a joy to check out the Blog. LET IT GO!!! We lost twice on Sectionals Saturday. Myers was not healthy and I should have played Mudsam and myself at Singles vs Austin. We lost to Lubbuck with our best line-up out there. Just didn't get it done. ANYWAY....
ReplyDeleteCary are we ever going to get a 4.5 preview. I hear they have a very good 4.5 team at Lifetime now.
BTW. I am not the type of guy to toot my own horn. Wait??? Yes I am. Thanks for the comment above. Texas Adult Sectionals was fun this weekend. I am most proud of my wife who won the 3.0 Singles Title as well. GO LTF!!!!
Eddie.
Way to go King and Queen of the Hill. Good job...
ReplyDeleteWow Lucky Thunder stepped Rossouw's team up to "Mighty." Where do the sudden accolades come from? I love it Cary.
ReplyDeleteFraser
Why don't we just rename this blog to "Dallas & Ft. Worth 4.0 League Tennis"? The former Dallas 3.5 thread writer is now playing on a FTW team and is blogging in that capacity, and only one person cares or has enough motivation to write about Dallas tennis, and that's at 4.0.
ReplyDeleteOn top of that, no one even bothered to set up a thread about the most important tournament of the year. Even the Brookhaven tournaments that are inconsequential in comparison have received much more love.
Is it possibly now time to close down this blog altogether? It looks like its usefulness may've been passed by.
Can you say "sandbagger" Mrs. Hill? What happened to the dynamic duo in mixed at the S.A. tournament?
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of sandbaggers and San Antonio - The sandbagger of the decade award goes to Mohit A. Nilekani, who won sectionals at 3.5 without dropping a set. He is now a perfect 15-0 on the year at 3.5, having won the Gallery in Houston and the Courtyard in Austin. He played in the Labor Day in Austin and got to the finals, he still chooses to massage his ego by playing 3.5 level tennis. No one in 3.5 has been able to get more than 4 games off him in a set and that has only happened twice. With his 600 points he can now jump into the top 8 at 3.5, despite having played in only three tournaments on the year. Sorry, Enrique, Mark at al, you will have no chance against this guy at the Masters.
ReplyDeleteCarey - I don't remember getting discounts the first time around!!??!!!!
ReplyDeleteCongrats Eddie on the win in S.A.
Mr. 3.5 complainer - They have said all along they need a 3.5 person to take over the 3.5 section of the blog. If somebody does not step up soon, you will not see any 3.5 posts, and it will be like the Houston blog where 3.5 is left out.
Forgot to mention that Mohit played 4.0 at the Labor Day in Austin when he got to the Finals and currently has a 6-2 record at 4.0 in tournament play
ReplyDeleteI am not complaining. I am just stating the facts. This is what happens when you have self rating. I do think that the power of the blog needs to be focused on this guy with the infamous "pussy alert" but ya'll will see him soon enough - he got bumped up to 4.0
ReplyDeleteIf he was bumped then there should be no issue. He will be dealt with. What comes around goes around.
ReplyDeleteThe issue is why is this clown allowed to compete in the MAster's at 3.5 when he is clearly out of level? A lot of players at 3.5 have worked their butts off to accumulate enough points to get to the Master's then this joker plays in 3 tournaments, wins all 3 without dropping a set or losing more than 4 games and gets to waltz into the Masters?
ReplyDeleteGood point. Can he be DQ'd? Can someone appeal?
ReplyDeleteI don't think a self-rated player is eligible to player is eligible to play in the Masters. Does anyone know?
ReplyDeleteself rates cannot make Top 8 tourney.
ReplyDeleteThe wife and I did not play mixed this time. too much and we both want to focus on trying to win the single
g
Eddie
Mohit also beat several 4.5 bump-ups, he is clearly a low end 4.5 player. Also heard he is a cheater. Talked to at least 10 people who sent complaints in to the TTA about him and the TTA has done nothing. Talk about a lack of integrity. I think they are playing favorites since he is from Austin and on the 3.5 national team. TTA you are a disgrace.
ReplyDeletecongrats eddie!
ReplyDeleteThat prick Mohit Nilekani also won 3.5 doubles at Sectionals.
ReplyDeleteIn addition Raunag Nilekani won 3.0 singles 6-2, 6-1 in the finals. (Must be Mohit's brother?)
Both are cheating bastards.
TTA just wants money. They do not care about fair competition.
Hmmm, Mohit dropped only 4 games in 4 matches at the STATE 3.5 play-offs and does not get DQ'd? I'v seen worse results get people DQ'd. Definately favoritism. TTA sucks
ReplyDeletei agree on the favoritism. if this was a dallas player he would be tied to a stake and shot...
ReplyDeletetrue true
ReplyDeleteIt's my fault:( I did not play well and the team we played did a great job. Congrats to Brookhaven and hopefully I can limit my mistakes as the season contiunes. Congrats Eddie good luck in 4.5!
ReplyDeleteTosha Smith would be on Mohit like stink on shit if he was a Dallas player

ReplyDeleteBazan,
ReplyDeleteHow were you able to even find Tuorto to recruit him on your team? I saw that name, and I did not think anyone on your team could even recognize him, let alone recruit him.
Have you seen Mohit play. He is a good 3.5 - 4.0 player. He is not cheating. He is not over powering anyone. He does not have a 120 mph serve. He get the ball back and makes his opponents make mistakes. He does not go for crazy shots or make stupid mistakes. Percentage tennis wins. Very much like Eddie Hill. He is a good player. There is no point complaining. There are a lot of more players that are way out of level.
ReplyDeleteEnrique Molina
(Y) is a not tanking, he just wishes he was. He is a human backboard, but he has zero weapons. He doesn't have the ability hit a passing shot.
ReplyDeleteEnrique,
ReplyDeleteWhat happened to you and your partner C. Jones in San Antonio 3.5 doubles tourny? Are you two trying to build up some ammo for an appeal back to 3.5 or something?
If you turn (Y) around and hit at his fat ass that would be the only way you could call him a backboard. If he lost a small child (ie 30-40 lbs) he would be one of top 4.0's in Dallas, until that happens he will have some losses to lesser players.
ReplyDelete(Y) could never be a top 4.0, even if he lost that small child he carries around in his wigwam. he does not know how to put the ball away. that's why he lost on Sunday.
ReplyDeleteGood point about him turning around though. Seems like if he and bennett had tried that earlier in the match together, they might of won. not enough court to get the ball by the two of them.
ReplyDeleteso its not really (-Y-) at all, instead it is ( Y )
ReplyDeleteEnrique/Chris win San Antonio they are over the top RINGERS. They lose, they are padding their 3.5 appeal. Can't win for losing or winning----- forget it Enrique, don't waste the energy.
ReplyDeleteWhich tournament historically has the better competition? Brookhaven on 10/02 or State Fair Classic on 10/09?
ReplyDelete"Which tournament historically has the better competition? Brookhaven on 10/02 or State Fair Classic on 10/09?"
ReplyDeleteI think the Brookhaven tournament has the better competition. I am planning on playing doubles and mix.
(-Y-), Oh i get it, brookhaven has the best competiton because you are in it right? No wonder you and Eddie are such good buddys, the egos between the two of you are just alike. Thats one of the reason we all hate lifetime!
ReplyDeletewow are you serious. i think (Y) was just saying I think the comp is better at Brookhaven...for that reason I have also chosen to play in the Brookhaven tourney as well.
ReplyDeleteDah... Relax man.
Sisk, Nice job coming to Enrique and Chris's defense... let me guess they are now part of Durty Garland?
ReplyDeleteLooks like only one guy from Dallas area will make Top 8 tournament in Austin at 4.0 level.
ReplyDeleteHill from Lifetime
Some of the doubles at 4.0 will be from Dallas.
ReplyDeleteI thinks Myers from Lifetime is right there too. Number 8 or 9
ReplyDeleteSenior Sectionals in Tyler this weekend.
