OK, so the fall season is still somewhat fresh in everybody's mind, but enough time has passed (hopefully) for the wounds to have healed. Let's look at the season objectively and try to determine who is worthy of post-season awards.
Feel free to put your nominations for any level, with compelling reasons. You can also make your own awards. This should hopefully give us something to talk about before tri-level and the Cotton Bowl.
MVP (Singles and Doubles)--This person(s) should have been the one(s) who had the most impact on his team's success this season. Without this player or team, the overall team could not have done nearly as well.
Rookie of the Year (Singles and Doubles)--This person immediately made an impact in the first season of playing Dallas league tennis.
Most Improved (Player or Team)--This award goes to the player or team who surprised everybody by completely turning around his/their results from spring to fall.
Captain of the Year--This captain was able to achieve the most success, motivate his players, maneuver lineups, and/or win the respect of his peers in the process.
Biggest Sandbagger--This player had no business playing the level he did, but he did so anyway and dominated lesser players all season.
Most Overrated--This player was expected to make a big positive impact for his team this season but actually ended up contributing very little.
Upset of the Year (Individual or Overall)--This matchup appeared to be all but decided before the players stepped on the court but it ended up shocking everybody.
All-Star Team--This would be the ideal lineup for any captain to put out there to be able to succeed at the next level.
Remember only players who were on a roster this fall are eligible for these awards.
Have fun with this and let the debate begin!!!
These are my 4.5 awards.
ReplyDeleteMVP--Has to be Dustin Viktorin in singles. 8-0 all season with three big singles wins in the playoffs, clinching the championship for Oak Creek. Doubles goes to Fair/Young. Yes I'm biased but they were 3-0 in the playoffs and 4-0 during the season.
Rookie--Dustin Viktorin again for above reasons. Hans Oberg in doubles. Although his team didn't make playoffs, he dominated regular season at 7-0.
Most Improved--The Lakes. 15 more individual wins this season (7 from Oberg). They are well on their way to becoming a playoff team.
Captain of the Year--Seems like a no-brainer because winning is everything but I'm picking Todd Feldman for a different reason. He had only 12 players on his roster and was able to win the fall. This shows the incredible loyalty his players have for him and that earns my respect.
Biggest Sandbagger--Although he went MIA in the playoffs, Dmitry Kaforin gets my award. He should not have been playing 4.5 to begin with so many would say ROCC got what they deserved in the end.
Most Overrated--Nick Smith. A lot of hoopla (mostly from me) after he signed but he ended up never stepping on the court and thus making no impact on the fall season.
Upset of the Year--Bovermann over Branch. Ended up knocking the mighty Branch team out of the playoffs with this upset that never should have happened. Honorable mention goes to Durten and Wright losing against High Point's 8.5 doubles team in the last match of the regular season.
All-Star Team--Viktorin and Molina in singles. Fair and Young. Rauschuber and Smithson who were also undefeated. Blake Mason despite his absence from the playoffs with a 5-0 record and Jeremy Stone. Only loss came to Fair and Young and he was promptly moved up to 5-0. Plus, how can I leave a Branch player off of this list?
I look forward to reading other lists at all levels.
Now this is a great thread. I sure it will get derailed with some type of player bashing - but this is good stuff
ReplyDeleteThanks, but of course you're right.
ReplyDelete4.0 Awards
ReplyDeleteMVP and Rookie-Outside of my own team, I like Jonathan Renwick. 5-0 in Fall League Play without dropping a set and 3-0 in the Playoffs, with a nice straight set win over Patrick T of Somabut's Team.
2008 4.0 All Star Team
ReplyDeleteCaptain: Bob Somabut - lost all of his players in the springs and reloads for the fall. Hands down the best captain in Dallas.
1s - Gene Davis
2s - Dan Keller
1d - Hai Nguyen/Jean Nguyen
2d - Paul Wildberger/Mark Sweeney
3d - Dan Rasor/Greg Odell
2008 4.5 All Star Team
Captain: Rusty Branch - Up there with Somabut. Always re-loads for the Spring season and advances to Sectionals.
1s - Dmitry Kalforin (Sandbagger award)
2s - Dustin Viktorin
1d - Chris Slezak/Walt Williams
2d - Clint Summurow/Bill Braswell
3d - Ron Morrison/Paul Kiron
Sisk gets Captain of the Year because he went to Nats. Flora gets sandbagger of the year becaues he got DQd after beating all of his sectional opponents by embarassing scores.
ReplyDeleteI think Gene Davis deserves an honorable mention for sandbagger of the year. I know he was computer rated but he did not belong at 4.0.
ReplyDeleteMost overrated 4.0--Mitchell Mcgowan
ReplyDeleteFall season awards
ReplyDeleteI'm a 4.5 so I'm gonna stick to what I know. and i'm doing mine on all year, the fall doesn't include everyone.
ReplyDeleteCaptain: Branch - can you really argue with his success
MVP: Phat Bui - guy could play and win at both singles and doubles
Sandbagger: Corey: I keep thinking he'll come over his backhand
Most overrated: Corey: I keep thinking he'll come over his backhand
All Star Team:
Singles
Henry Gonzales
Jeremy Stone
Doubles
Williams/Slezak
Fair/Young
Bui/Smithson
That lineup goes to Nationals
I don't see that singles lineup going to Nationals. BTW, how can I be the biggest sandbagger and overrated? I assume they are both a joke but it could at least make sense. I think Bui would beat either of those in singles.
ReplyDeleteBIGGEST OUT-OF-TOWN ASSHOLE: Mike Getz
ReplyDeleteMOST OBNXIOUS: SNOTjock Delira
MOST INCOMPETENT: Jane Gilpin
MISS "EASY": Jessica
Icepick for the hottest and MVP.
ReplyDelete4.0 Awards:
ReplyDeleteCaptain: Bob Somabut for doing what no one thought would be possible (if you read the blog). Honorable Mention: Robert Weatherby from Lakes for getting within a match of the finals while sticking with his everyone plays philosophy vs. the normal win at all costs strategy.
Most Overrated Player – Jonathan Marcus.
ReplyDeleteThe guy is so full of hot air. Lot’s of talk with no walk.
BEST SPORTSMANSHIP: Jonathan Marcus. He's a good guy.
ReplyDeleteWell, ummm, so I think rookie of the year should go to Corey Noel for posting a solid thread.
ReplyDeleteThe I Love Me Some Me award goes to Nancy Noel.
ReplyDeleteThe "MOST ANON POSTS AWARD" should go to Eddie HIll and the other LT EEFER'S.
ReplyDeleteShouldn't that be the Eddie Hill award for me? You can't accuse him of being a showboat and posting anonymously; that doesn't add up.
ReplyDeleteMost improved:
ReplyDeleteHP/Bazan: Lucky thunder, although focused on 3.5 for a few years started at 4.0 last fall and had a bad season and tried hard in the spring and underachieved and made a couple of changes and went from 2-5 to a few games from coming up with an upset of Bob's team in the Fall final and takeout Team Eddie in the midst of that.
Most overrated ringer: Mitch Mcgowan. Agreed, now he is back at 4.0 and I don't think anyone would argue he is back where he belongs he is too out of shape to play and compete at 4.5 and at 4.0 sectionals for that matter or even the dcc come July.
Springpark will miss the DCC again.
Jim sucks!!!!!!!!
BIGGEST MOUTH AWARD GOES TO... Jonathan Marcus.
ReplyDeletePANTS HIKED UP UNDER MAN TITTIES AWARD GOES TO (DRUM ROLL PLEASE)... Jonathan Marcus
When your over SIX FOOT TALL your pants shouldn't be hiked TO YOUR NIPPLES IN AN ATTEMPT TO SHOW OFF YOUR MOOSE NUCKLE!!
The Dennis Greene award - 4.0Lifetimer and captain Eddie Hill.
ReplyDelete“Lifetime are who we thought they were, Lifetime are who we thought they were…We talked all season how we will dominate the spring and fall and got our ass handed to us in the DCC, Lifetime are who we thought they were, Lifetime are who we thought they were. That’s why we took the damn field. Now if you want to crown em, then crown their (expletive deleted). But they are who we thought they were…”
I have to admit that's good.
ReplyDelete2008 Level 3.5 ALL STARS
ReplyDelete1 singles Johna Mudsam
2 singles Chris Tuorto
1 doubles Brian Morrison & Andy Mahr
2 doubles Jerry Defeo & Jacques Delira
3 doubles Armer Ravi & Doug Lueders
BIGGEST JERK
Glenn Flora for playing at way too low and level and being dumb enough to get DQed _ missing Nationals.
4.0 (The peeps I know)
ReplyDeletecapt of the year - Somabut. Don't know how he did it. again.
most improved - Talliat - he sucked last year.
Biggest Upset - kent v Forrest
Biggest sandbag alert - Line 3 doubles of Kent and Noaman!
Rookie of the year - OC2 (made quite a run)
Underachiever of the year - OC
4.5 Dennis Green award - Royal Chokes
ReplyDeleteNo Don Harvey or Cline on the 3.5 all stars?
ReplyDeleteSomeone can't read and continues to put the 3.5 SPRING sandbaggers on the FALL list.
ReplyDeleteFALL 3.5
ReplyDeleteMVP - Don Harvey (Westlake) - It is nice to have a guranteed win each week
Upset of the year - Brookhaven beating Westlake 4-1
All Stars - Singles Harvey (Westlake) & Cline (Bhaven)
Cline was undefeated and Harvey's only loss was to Cline
Doubles - Jerry Palacioz (Greenhill) and a partner (Terry Newmanm, Ed Tarangiloi or Jack Stephens) - All 4 were undefeated in doubles (with multiple partners)
To many other good doubles players to narrow the field down. Westlake, Brookhaven, Stonebridge, Oak Creek, Sammual Grand all had some very good doubles players.
I don't know if any other doubles players were undefeated.
My apologies for any teams that I missed.
BK - GH
Is the Cotton Bowl tourney played indoors? Does it usually have a good turnout?
ReplyDeleteDolson would have taken out Cline
ReplyDelete-Jessica
The Cotton Bowl is Dallas' biggest tournament. No other NTRP tournament in Dallas is worth more than 100 points, while this one is worth 200 points. It's like a mini-major zone.
ReplyDeleteThe majority of it is played indoors. Last year it was played at Canyon Creek and Brookhaven (4.0s).
Then Cline would have taken out Jessica. Then again, I think he would pass on that.
ReplyDeleteYeah, how about a thread on the Cotton Bowl.
ReplyDeleteRIF-Reading is Fundamental. Corey already told you in the intro that he is waiting until after the deadline on the 14th before doing a Cotton Bowl thread.
ReplyDeletePMS - Pre Menstrual Syndrome.
ReplyDeleteChill
Nobody reads the intro except you.
MOST IMPROVED: Jonathan Marcus-His strokes look good, court coverage much better. Congratulations.
ReplyDeleteNo, everybody reads the intro except you.
ReplyDeleteBIGGEST CHOKE / DOUG SMITH at SECTIONALS
ReplyDeleteDoug played horrible nervious tennis against Sanangelo losing to a weak team/ Ice Pick played strong but Doug really bent over for Sanangelo -> especially in the match tiebreak/ probably cost our team a trip to Nats/ Candyass Doug didnt win a match all weekend
Not Dougs fault he just gets intimidated by anyone with hair on their chest.
ReplyDeleteQue:Why was Doug in the line-up when Keith Robinson, Doug Voss, Steve Brouer were sitting out?Dougs no better than 3.5 the others guys can really play WTF?
WHAT.. DID JONATHAN MARCUS LOOSE HIS MAN TITTIES, BECASUE HIS STROKE ONLY HAD ONE AVERAGE SHOT OFF HIS FORHAND SIDE. AND YOU HAD TO BE ALL THE WAY OFF THE COURT IN ORDER FOR IT TO WORK. BUT I GUESS IF YOUR TITS GOT OUT OF THE WAY OF YOUR ARM YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO HIT A LITTLE BETTER. BECASUE LAST TIME I SAW HIM ON THE COURT HE LOOKED GIRLY AND LIKE HE NEEDED A BRA.
ReplyDeleteHello???? - Fall!!!! Get over it!!!
ReplyDeleteWorse than yesterday's news.
actually, I might have to agree in that JONATHAN MARCUS gets a strong vote by me for most improved as well.
ReplyDeleteHis game has really come around.
P.S.
I do wish my wife's titties were as big as Jonathan's though.
What was the team prize for fall winners this year? A paper clip?
ReplyDeleteROOKIE OF THE YEAR....Jonathan Marcus. Bumped up to 4.0 and pushed his team into the playoffs. With a little more experience, I look for him to put LTF over the top @ DCC.
ReplyDeleteThe award for Least Helpful Person in Tennis is that lady that works behinf the counter at High Point.
ReplyDeleteWhich one? There are a few. Charloette is nice, but one of them is a huge BITCH. I can't stand her. Would you please describe her? Is it the one that wears way too much makeup, is about 50 or 60, sometimes wears short sleeve shirts, and is extremely abrasive? Because that's the one i'm talking about.
ReplyDeleteBitch/Abrasive is the one (don't know her name-I AVOID HER. Very good description. Charloette is most helpful.
ReplyDeleteDo you know if she smokes?
ReplyDeleteI agree about the bitch at Highpoint that is always on the rag!
ReplyDeleteThere are at least two that smoke. One looks like she has done hard time in prison for white collar crimes and that is not the bitchy gal.
ReplyDeleteBiggest Cry Baby of the Year – Forrest Feuille
ReplyDeleteThe bitchy girl is a little heavier and has short hair, and wears too much makeup, and makes weird eye contact, and has a serious attitude if you get within a two foot proximity of her and attempt to ask her about anything.
ReplyDeleteYes, I agree Charloette is a sweetie pie. The youngest girl (that I have seen) is ok too but very easy to look at though!!!
ReplyDeleteCan't say I've ever got (or wanted too get) within 2' of that lady. But I could feel that attitude when I rounded the corner by the rackets on the wall. She exudes vibs of-Oh, here comes another one, crap I have to work some more now get out of my hair.
ReplyDeleteThe heavy set girl with short hair is a BITCH and leaves much to be desired!!!!
ReplyDeletethe young lady's name is chandra and she is HOT
ReplyDeleteThe way to a womans heart is by misspelling her name. You crack me up dude.
ReplyDeleteWow there are a lot of people on here tonight. Guess noone is getting any.
ReplyDeleteI've aready gotten mine and I asked the little woman if she was through. All she did was rolled over and went to sleep. Geez, I am so good.
ReplyDeleteNo the one I'm talking about sometimes wears long sleeves.
ReplyDeleteThat was a bit duh'ish
ReplyDeleteHere is one that can be agreed upon. "The Biggest Hooker Award" (excluding Jessica) has to be, hands down, T.Q.
ReplyDeleteI played doubles against some guy named Tu=n Q*ach in a tournament (I think it was in Carrollton) not long ago and I wonder if that is the same f**cker that hooked the sh%t out of us? Crucial points and/or to go up big in a game, didn't matter, our shots were OUT! I mean the little ba##ard would call it out about the time we hit the ball. I hope he feels good about himself.
ReplyDeleteI know who you are talking about about and it is ashame. Other than that he seems to be a nice guy but who would want to hang out with someone like that? Tuan appears to have the weapons to win without hooking so whats the deal? I see he played on Cary's team. Maybe that's where he learned the value of points. Cary?
ReplyDeleteWho's better Rusty Branch or Sponge Bob Somabut?
ReplyDeleteWho has the most trips to Sectionals and Nats? Captains have to be measured by the success of their teams over a number of years.
I played TQ at High Point. The little prick does cheat worse than anyone else I know.
ReplyDeleteNo offense to TQ or any other orientals,
ReplyDeleteBut, those are what I call Jap plays.
I admit playing TQ can be a challenge. But let's leave race and ethnicity out of it. Low blows like that are just not necessary.
ReplyDeletePerhaps, but Russians are also Asians and thus they must be differentiated. Maybe we can call them Oriental Asians, would that make you happier?
ReplyDeleteTQ came like that, I didn't create him. He is a good guy actually though. He left my team I didn't send him packing and I could still use him. He brings beer and doesn't drink, that is my definition of a great teammate.
ReplyDeleteyep there are a couple of P/T Hi Pt young girls that are way HOT. Good hire Mr. Sumrow.
ReplyDeleteForrest is a tad cry babyish. After he lost the deciding match v. Cary's team he was throwing his racket, etc.
He missed a volley on match point and threw it into the net. THat is the first time I have ever seen him even remotely throw his racket. He is a good sport and is not a cry baby.
ReplyDeleteAll – Forrest is a B I G cry baby. Over the last year, Forrest didn’t drop too many matches because he was sandbagging at the 4.0 level. Now the matches he did drop, he was all emotionally worked up like a teenage girl and weeping.
ReplyDeleteIt will be very interesting to see if Forrest changes his attitude over the next year while he plays at the 4.5 level. Forrest is so emotional; he may not be able to take it. I would expect to see Forrest’s rating to drop back down to the 4.0 level over the next year.
ReplyDeleteFirst he is sandbagging and then he is found out, then back to sandbagging again?? Which one is it? You don't have a ridiculous record like his and not make it at the next level. He will do great at the 4.5 level and will probably make the top 8 in 4.5 like he did at 4.0. How is he so emotional? You sound like a woman!!! He is a great guy and good at tennis.
ReplyDeleteAgreed. Forrest is a nice guy and is not emotional. I don't even know where to start on that comment. You sound like you have bigger problems with him than just losing a match to him. Quit your crying!!!
ReplyDeleteI concur; Forrest is a nice guy and a sandbagger! He’s also a cry baby!
ReplyDeleteNo way forrest finishes top 8 in 4.5. Assuming he plays about 4-5 major zones, he'll be lucky to finish top 20. Will probably finish between 30-45.
ReplyDeleteIf Forrest finishes next year with in the top 50 at the 4.5 level, it just goes to show that he was a sandbagger for the last two years at the 4.0 level.
ReplyDeleteIf you play 4-5 major zones and you know how to hold a racquet, you'll finish in the top 20. Honestly, if you play that many major zones and can't finish top 10, you should probably quit wasting the gas money.
ReplyDeleteIt’s not the easiest thing to do! If it was, a lot more of you would be doing it.
ReplyDeleteI agree with the 5:46 poster. Very few 4.5 players play more than two or three majors so if somebody wins one round in five majors, they will easily be top 20.
ReplyDeletepussy alert.....Adam Dentin
ReplyDeletenot sure what he did....just wanted to call him out and see if he is out there
Sooo, is anyone counting to see who won the most awards?
ReplyDelete4.0 Awards
ReplyDeleteBest captain: Bob Somabut
Most Improved: Bin Nguyen
Most Overrated: Everything LTF and also the great Steve Kent
MVP's: Jean Nguyen and Jared Kemp
Upset of the Year: OC over HP/Som
Comeback player: Chad Carlquist
MVP Rookie: Steve Kemp
All Star Team: Look at the roster....HP/Somabut.
Give me a break!
ReplyDeleteCAPTAIN OF THE YEAR: JIM WALTERS
Beat HP/Somabut in City and took his team to the finals of Sectionals barely losing 2-3. Plus earlier poster was right _ Bob DID make some very screwy line-up choices that hurt his team.
MVP: Gene Davis who went undefeated including 6-0 at Sectionals. And a great guy!
Santa Clause:
ReplyDeletePlease give many of the idiots on this board a book on reading comprehension.
This thread was about the FALL SEASON that just ended, so who cares what a team or individual did in the Spring or at Sectionals.
Thank you now move along.
Captain of the Year --> MARK FERRELL
ReplyDeleteMark is a fantastic guy and took his 3.5 team to the Sectionals finals barely losing to those shits from Garland.
nutin but steers and queers in Arkansas
ReplyDeleteI thought higher education in Arkansas meant you attended jr. high.
ReplyDeleteIf I recall correctly, Mudsam chose to go out of town to his kid's soccer tourney which was schedule way before the play-offs. He played Friday and then left for his trip. I think his priorities were correct.
ReplyDeleteMudsam made the right decision! Plus, it saved the Lifetime team money and time form traveling to Tuscon and getting beat by a team from Puerto Rico on a mission. Garland played the right cards at the right time..it could have gone either way. Look out though the Garland team has scores of players on the 4.0 radar who are improving mainly in doubles..in singles they have lines 1 and 2 ready to win 90% of the matches..I give them the most improved award for fall they may not have made the playoffs but look at the win loss ratio..pretty strong for the first year in 4.0
ReplyDeleteI'm just thankful Mudshame doesn't prioritize for our servicemen and women. We would all be let down.
ReplyDeleteMudshame had time to get back from the soccer game but didnnt try. He made a selfness "I dont give a shit" decision.
ReplyDeleteI KNOW that is not a lifetimer sayin that sheat. Mudsam dint even know what USTA tennis league was until 2 weeks and 2 days before the end of the season. LTF got lucky to have him play. Isn't this supposed to be FALL!!!
ReplyDeleteFerrell did do a great job putting together a strong team. He recruits like hell off of 5 courts at LTF!!! I mean, wow, slim pickings to put together a team.
ReplyDeleteYes, Mudshame joined our team late and got in a couple matches - how nice for him. Then he let our whole team down at Sectionals. A real shity thing to do.
ReplyDeletewho gives a dam about the fall league anyway? only the spring matters
ReplyDeleteEddie, be quiet. You used to think it was important. That was until you went 1-2 in the playoffs.
ReplyDeleteI really like pink purses. Especially ones that are made of suede with a silk liner. It's just so special when you get to stroke one under your right arm.
ReplyDeleteOh...what was the topic on this thread again?
Mudsam made the right decision! Kids over tennis any day! Even if he played, would he have Glen this time? Who knows? We didn't split sets vs. Puerto Rico maybe ltf could have, who knows! I know we had a talented, and deep team.I will build in the future to win!
ReplyDeletesisk
I am appalled and dismayed that someone would skip out on teammates.
ReplyDeleteThis has been a very sore subject around the club. Most of us feel Mudsam should have just declined to play at all due to his predetermined travel schedule. We feel that he was selfish for joining the team and knocking other teammates out of the roster. The general concensus is that if we didn't make the playoffs than that's fine at least we would not have depended on someone who would leave us high and dry. But Morrison kept pushing to get him on the team. Just my opinion, take it for what it's worth.
ReplyDeleteI don't like the practice of adding ringer at the end of the season just for the play-off,
ReplyDeleteIt does not give the system a chance to work,
He played the last two matches of the season the straight to the play-offs.
You should have to play more than 2 matches to make the playoffs,
Lifetime has bad karma and got what they deserve.
Back your ponies up, cowboy. Mudshame is no ringer. At best, he is a mid level 3.5'er. He will be bumped back down to 3.5 at mid season if he is not at a soccer game. How gay!!!
ReplyDeleteThis is a ringer:
ReplyDeletehttp://apps.uwhealth.org/health/adam/graphics/images/en/10222.jpg
Not sure what that link is, but this surely is a ringer:
ReplyDeletehttp://snurl.com/8vad2
If Ferrell asked me to play on his team I would, without hesitation, tell him to go to hell.
ReplyDeleteinteresting. I have to respect your opinion, cause it is ur opinion, and I can see your thought process behind it.
ReplyDeleteBUT, we got a lot more matches in cause Mudsam was on the team, and it proly wouldn't have happened without him.
We didn't have a 1 & 2 singles that could play every match. In fact, we had a singles that could only play every other match.
It was a shame that Bennett got hurt just before end of season, cause he was hitting a TREMENDOUS ball before he got hurt.
He came back and was playing good, but not amazing Bennett good, like he was for awhile. Cause of that, we lost a sure thing line at doubles every time.
So, long story short. Mudsam was awesome for the team in my opinion. We would have been retired a month prior to that otherwise.
BMO
ReplyDeleteI respect your opinion to. And certainly Mudsam was out best player. But we did lose the Sectional finals to Garland by a single tiebreak playing without Mudsam and with Bennett less than 100%. So we had a darn good team anyway. Point is that most guys would have come back from the soccer game in time to help their team in the Sectional finals. How many of us will ever get that close again?
Look Brain, I wanted to play and was available. Against my wishes, I sat out so he could play. I really doubt ANYONE could say I do not want to win. The bottom line is I missed out on getting some experience for next year while another team member loads his ass up and goes to a soccer game. But I doubt he really cares because he got moved up and our team is MUCH weaker due to both events. You and him have trashed out our team!
ReplyDeleteI know who that is and I will second his facts. You're an ass.
ReplyDeleteYour Buddy!!!!!
Yes, I'll nomanate Bmo for the Brain award. He is the Biggest Dumbfuck and Team Buster of the year, hands down!!!!! I do not who that was earlier in the year referring to him as "The Big Fish" but I can tell you that is him to a "T". I wish Bmo could see the real Brian!!! It might make him a better person.
ReplyDeleteMudshame is definitley a scum bag
ReplyDelete- LifeTimer
Sounds like one or more cry babies on LTF. Without Mudsam you would have never made it out of the playoffs, let alone the city championships. Maybe you should look on the bright side, you went to Sectionals. A lot of teams would like to have been in your shoes. Mudsam made the right decision, his kids are more important. Merry Christmas
ReplyDeleteLTF = Drama queens
ReplyDeleteAgainst my better judgement, I will respond to this ONE time.
ReplyDeleteIts like this, in MY opinion. We were lucky to get Mudsam when we got him. Total luck. I don't think Mudsam even understood the opportunity that we had in front of us, cause he had not played USTA tennis for years. Even that, AS MUCH AS I WANTED TO WIN THE WHOLE THING, I absolutely can NOT criticize the guy. I think he made the right decision. And I DID want to go to nationals BAD! I am not sure IF we will ever have a chance to go again.
Then to say you could have played if he wasnt there. Well guess what... He wasn't there. We were juggling lines all the way to the last day. We brought all sorts of team members back from the dead ALL season long. I don't think you can complain about that. So that is not a reason why you did not play. Vip, back from the dead; Mahr, back from the dead; J Marcus, back from the dead. In fact we got stronger during the playoffs because we had so many members that we had written off that came back and played, and played WELL.
Vip caught the flu the last day and we had J Marcus step right in, IN DOUBLES, and he played VERY WELL. (it's true, and he played well in singles too during the playoffs too).
Whitt gone during some rounds of playoffs. Tuorto could only play 1 match a day
I am not sure if I even get your complaint? AND I am NOT going to apologize for wanting to win either. Due to my job situation, I was able to play tennis EVERY SINGLE DAY, and my game had peaked. Sorry. If that makes me an azz, so be it.
You say that you would have played had Mudsam not played, but we had Mudsam, Vip, and Marcus all step in at the last minute. If you wanted to play more, maybe you should have shown up and practiced more and proven yourself. As I said previously, it is not like people were written off and never allowed to come back. I don't even see how you can point a finger at me, but I definitely see 4 fingers pointing back at you. At 3.5 and 4.0, this is not really about God given talent. This level is about just getting out and playing more. and having heart too.
One last, One last thing. I never brought this up, but USTA called me and DQ'd me 2 weeks before GTC went to Nationals, letting me know I could not play anymore 3.5 tourney or league play.
ReplyDeleteYou might want to question the USTA about GTC influences. I know I would if it were me.
ReplyDeletelol. No, they had already won and on there way to Nationals. They even told me it was because of my 4.0 play during the fall after finals.
ReplyDeleteSo you're a top rated 4.0 guy?
ReplyDeleteJust repeating their words
ReplyDelete
