First, congratulation to Alan Abruzzesse's 40+ mixed teams. Dallas advanced his 8.0 and 7.0 teams. Dallas goes 2 for 4 and that is pretty strong. In the quest for 2015 nationals after the first real sectionals weekend, Dallas 2. Austin 1 and Fort Worth 1.
The one time Pimp of the Year has returned to get his crown(s) back. Alan has shown why he is the Mack of Mixed, Ayatollah of Mixed or The Mixed Lord Hummungus himself. He took Voldemort and his cadre and brought home two Mixed Sectionals trophies. I am hoping this is the beginning of the Year of Dallas.
Promise of No More Mixed Talk... For Awhile At Least
With no further adieu, the season is nearing the end. For the most part, the playoffs are set.
5.0 There is nothing to report as Match of the Year is this week between TBar and Lakes. This is a tough one to call but it will likely be 2-1.
4.5
Flight A: In the Match of the Week, JCC beat Fretz 4-1. This probably wraps this flight up. LB Houston gets a crack at JCC but they are 7 more line losses behind with more matches to play than JCC.
Flight B: Oak Creek and Lakes are undefeated with their match waiting for the 28th. Lakes still needs to beat last place Fretz. Not much to say until then. Winner to City Championships and loser to QT.
Flight C: Village and Brookhaven each with 1 loss. BH has 2 less line losses but Village has the H2H which comes into play if they are tied at lines. Just have to wait and see. I don't see either teams putting weaker lines out if they can avoid it. They will be trying to sweep.
4.0
Flight A: Oasis defeats previously unbeaten Oak Creek 5-0. I still have no idea who this is. Fretz only has 1 loss but unless Oasis gets swept by cellar dweller Eagles Landing, they cannot be caught.
Flight B: High Point has this one wrapped up. They get 2 DQs and still have it wrapped up. Greenhill may have the second best team but they had the bad luck of being put in with the best. I thought High Point could draw their playoff lineups out of a hat and still win cities.
Flight C: Bazan v Bartlett have a battle royale this weekend to determine who wins this flight. Win or go home as loser may not make QT. Oak Creek has runner up pretty much wrapped up.
Flight D: This is one of the most interesting flights. Garland could have wrapped the flight but lost to Oak Creek 3-2. Now, he needs to merely beat TBar. Oak Creek and Royal Oaks are vying too. In the end, Sisk will put out a good line and win this flight.
Until next week...
I put an asterisk beside any national or sectional event Kelley wins. Looking at his results in San Antonio is a joke. Others do as well. He has won NOTHING legitimately!
ReplyDelete*
DeleteNo doubt. I would rather lose a 9.0 match than go to Nationals umpteen times or whatever Kelley had been. When you go as a 9.0 player get back to me! Until then anyone can do what you have done!
ReplyDeleteAs a member of the 7.0 team, I can say Mike Kelly showed tremendous team support for both his 8.0 group and 7.0. Until this weekend, I have had very few dealings with Kelly but the two (once as an observer at Tri-Level Sectionals and this prior weekend), I can say he was playing hard and supporting both teams. He did nothing out of line. He was the consummate team guy
ReplyDeleteAlso, I am very grateful Alan had me on his team. He and all of his players handle themselves well. Actually, I may have been the most animated and most know I am not terribly animated. There was excellent tennis and a lot of very good teams and players. I don't recall anybody upset from any team.
Alan often times invites others to come to their practices. You should really take him up on that as his group is great. I wish I had joined them before my move to Houston and I would practice regularly. They are a great group. They take their mixed serious but they have a good time.
This really is my last post here... Until my next last post.
Greg Wiley
I would have to see and talk to Greg himself before I believe all that. Kelley only supports himself and would be shocked to see him hang around watching 7.0. If that was really Wiley that posted quit hangin' around kelley. When you run with the dogs you get fleas!
ReplyDeleteWiley is just as big of a dog as Kelly just not as good of a player. I'm sure he has his own fleas.
DeleteKelley's fleas are just better
DeleteOur 7.0 and 8.0 teams support each other. We practice together, stayed at the same hotel, and watched each other play. Mike was at the 7.0 matches cheering for our 7.0 team. He was the second one on the court to congratulate the SpringPark team that won the 10-8 tiebreaker to win sectionals. Alan was first. Mike Kelly is one hell of an athletic supporter.
DeleteHe's certainly been Alan's athletic supporter for quite some time.
DeleteMaybe so but Kelley has been playing for Alan 10 years. Seems everyone else jumps from team to team.
DeleteWow talk about irony, i happen to know that Wiley has himself trashed M. Kelly many time on this very blog over the years, and now he is singing his praises... the apocalypse is really upon us!
ReplyDeleteBREAKING NEWS:
DeleteHell has frozen over!, oh and SP gonig to Nationsls again (yawning)
You guys are worst then women tcd. Stop complaining and whining. Improve your game why don't you? You don't see the 5.0 league bitching and moaning about selfrates and players being to good or not! Bunch of whimps!
ReplyDeleteAm I the only one who finds it curious that Sisk ha a Paul Anthony Johnson of Richardson, TX as a 4.0 and a Paul A. Johnson of Richardson, TX at 3.5 on the same roster? Guess it could be a coincidence.
ReplyDeleteGuess you are the only one that is curious.
DeleteSisk back to his old ways I see.
DeleteAs a casual observer people will hate on SP no matter what until the end of time so that will keep happening no matter what. However, what Alan A. and Springpark has done is absolutely incredible. They have dominated mixed like no other. Kelley in particular, regardless of his rating has been off the charts in winning damn near every match. Like him or despise him that is extremely difficult to do. Alan is a hell of a captain and somehow motivates his team every year and that in itself pretty hard to do. The haters will continue to surface but their will never be a run like these guys have had and continue to do. Congratulations Alan and best of luck at nationals. RP. Unfortunately, see the haters comments pile up below:
ReplyDeleteZackery Dominate at 7.0 sectionals only loses 5 games in 3 matches!!
DeleteImpressive!!!!
We know that is you posting Mike Z. Doing that at 7.0 is not impressive.
DeleteZackry the Man!!!!
DeleteYep, definitely him posting.
DeleteAlan the best Dallas Caption!!!!!
DeleteDefinitely Mike Z. because he spelled "captain" wrong again. Just like the earlier post from last week:
DeleteAnonymousJune 2, 2015 at 10:01 PM
Cant be zackry he not a caption.. you have to be a caption to file Grievance...
If I were you Mike Z. I would quit blogging. I am sure Tony's boys feel the same way.
Kelly lead the charge in 8.0 mix
DeleteZackry lead the charge in 7.0 mix
Please Mike Z. Enough already.
DeleteThat's why Zackry always has to play line 3. Easy wins
DeleteNot any easy lines at sectionals.
DeleteZachary did not lead the charge. He was a piece of the puzzle, but Pat Kint was the man. He stepped up when Zachary couldn't play and won 2 big matches. And the other man was one of the 3.0 ladies. Wendy Woodward won some major points down 5-8 in the third set breaker in the final. Anyone can win the matches they are supposed to win. It takes more to win the matches no one thinks you can win. All my 7.0 players played well and proved what hard work can accomplish. Complain all you want, but we all work hard to get to nationals and we will continue to work hard to win nationals. If anyone wants to play some practice matches, let me know.
DeleteAlan

I have to give credit to a guy who tells it like it is AND leaves a phone number. You cannot do what Springpark has done in mixed and not work hard at it. They have ruled mixed for many years. Good for them and good luck at yet another national run. Quite incredible frankly.
DeleteI agree with Alan.. Its was a team effort!!
DeleteI was just a piece in the puzzle!!!
Mike Z
Alan and Mike are right. Pat played great and stood tall. Wendy made two of the best clutch shots one can imagine. Pearson and Wendy were down 8-4 in the third set TB and Wendy made a pure hustle shot to get it to 8-5 and she stabbed a perfect cross court return that nobody thought was going over the net (including their opponents).
DeleteMike Z played well in all matches and is merely being humble. The only player we had that underwhelmed would be myself. Alan is right in that you have to find ways to win when you shouldn't. Things did not look great and those shots by Wendy and Pearson's consistent tough play snatched victory from the jaws of defeat. While I am still down about my underwhelming performance, I would be even more devastated had Pearson and Wendy not showed tremendous character in that tiebreaker.
Greg
Pearson beat a solid 3.5 and was probably best 4.0 in the 7.0 sectionals. Wendy was MVP. Pat was co-MVP.
Deletelove to see the tankers come out and compliment each other.
Delete"You are the company you keep" has never been more applicable...
They are a team. Any good teammate should compliment his fellow teammates on a hard-fought win.
DeleteAs close as these matches were it seems very difficult for one to argue that the folks on the SP team are playing below their level.
Clearly your team is unbeatable and since you lost SP must have cheated.
Go Spring Park!!!! Nationals Baby!!!!!
Deleteto 11:53: Agree, nobody on the 7.0 team was out of level. They won the last match in a breaker and easily could have gone either way. Most were hoping SP would get beat but didn't happen. Good luck at nationals.
DeleteWhy does Sisk seem to take abuse over a guy that has lost most matches? Paul Johnson no real threat to anyone at 4.0. Crazy!
ReplyDeleteBecause this blog has to have someone complain about something. These men have perpetual PMS.
DeleteMcKinney Bazan v Brookhaven Bartlett - Who wins?
ReplyDeleteWho are the teams top singles and doubles lines?
they both lose to high point
DeleteYeah we win by about 5 lines.
DeleteThat is because they are really 4.0 teams.
DeleteHigh Point only has 2 5.0s on their roster.
DeleteYeah but it is a 4.0 team
DeleteLooks like bazans boys got tripped up against JCC. Now that match tomorrow is irrelevant.
DeleteIt is not irrelevant at all. If Bazan's boys lose they are out completely. They must win to get into QT. That's pretty relevant.
DeleteAnd the Bazan collapse is complete. Came into the weekend needing one team win to get into QT and two to win his group and go to Cities. Couldn't do either and got beat up by Brookhaven for the clincher.
DeleteWhen do mid-season ratings get published? That should be good blog fodder.
ReplyDeleteUsually July 15.
DeleteI gotta say that picture is straight up pimpin'
ReplyDeleteto June 9 7:05:
ReplyDeleteOf course he stays loyal to Alan, who else would let him play? No country club would take on a blatant tanker. Mixed titles are not even that big of a deal, most clubs look to win mens or womens national championships, not sissy mixed doubles.
yawn
ReplyDeleteYeah, we need a new topic.
DeleteWho cares when ratings come out, I'm still the best around here at all levels.
ReplyDeleteMK
I agree he is the Best!!! Clutch!!!!
DeleteFunny , but not MK posting that. Unless it stands for Martin Klizan.
ReplyDeleteThankfully Sir Mix-a-lot and Voldemort will have to break up for next year then all other teams will have a chance. I think they should have to sit out a full mixed season.
ReplyDeleteThere is something in the works at USTA that would prevent a team that is going to Nationals that they be ineligible for the next mixed season. Hopefully it goes thru in time for 2016 because my team is putting together an all star lineup.
DeleteThey have to split up.
DeleteIf you have an "all star line up" why would you care if we split up. Just go out and win. If you want to play some practice matches, let me know.
DeleteAlan
972-675-1272
If haven't figured it out yet, the anons are full of shit. I wouldn't expect a call.
DeleteThank goodness. Give others a chance.
ReplyDeleteI'm not trying to be an a-hole, but please call me for practice matches. We are tired of playing each other. I will bring beer and a guarantee that you will have some fun. Pretty please!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteIf I were some anons I would be calling Alan. He has to break that team up and will need new players bec of nationals. He is probably ready to get rid of that tired, old Kelley anyway. Kind of sad but this may be the end of the dynasty without some new blood coming in.
ReplyDeleteMost anons suck. Why would Alan want them to call?
DeleteFor practice. I just want extra practice for nationals. Anyone. Good, bad, or ugly. Just people we don't play every week.
DeleteAlan
For one Kelley is about at the end of his playing days and will only regress. Secondly why would he not continue to look for players??? What is Alan going to say... Don't call me and don't come out to play and drink beer and practice? Obviously beer and practice is the winning recipe.
ReplyDeleteZacry loses 1&1 in a meaningless match. What a dominating performance! Glad to see that he and Ohl are sticking by their values.
ReplyDeleteThe guy who turns all of Tony's guys in for tanking is tanking? Really?
Delete5:12
DeleteYou are surprised by this?
A 'caption' should file a grievance on him.
DeleteTony didn't want him or need him. Not good enough to win the tough matches and not worth the headache. He then turns Tony's guys in. A solid 4.0 and nothing more. Guess Greg Ohl has done a 180 as well. These guys are damaged goods.
ReplyDeleteHe only lost 5 games at sectionals in 3 matches last weekend. He lost 12 games and won 2 games in 1 match this weekend.
DeleteHe also lost 12 games in one match in 7.0 mixed against Tony's solid 3.5. He was not tanking then, he just got beat.he will say he was tanking but not the case.
DeleteA solid 4.0 mixed player and a decent 4.0 mens player, nothing more. Trying to tank to 3.5 but probably will stay 4.0 where he belongs.
DeleteI stunk it up today. Didn't play well at all.First lost in the spring.
DeleteWhat ever its wroth didn't report any Tony Le players PERIOD!!!
Mike Zackary
Stink it up a lot when it doesn't count.
DeleteFunny how Ohl bitched about zackery last few years but now he's taken him and let him continue doing just what Ohl bitched about. They deserve each other.
DeleteWatches blog very closely. Quick to respond. Didn't report Tony' players, he let the caption do it.... Hmmmm
ReplyDeleteHow much is it worth? Wait "wroth". What the hell is wroth?
ReplyDeleteHow much is Zachary wroth to a caption? I doubt it is very much.
ReplyDeleteYou have to have money players come crunch time to put up with the bs. Nice player but not a big time clutch player, and Tiny Le recognized that.
ReplyDeleteNothing wrong with Greg Ohl. At least he was smart enough not to play his better players and no-showed against Tony's 4.0 men's team. Think he knew he would get slaughtered.
ReplyDeleteGreg Ohl is outstanding captain and person!!!!
Delete9:12 post was from me, mike Zachary.
DeleteMike Zackary called Todd Reed and tried to file a complaint against Tony's players. Todd told him only a captain can file an official complaint so Mike called several captains he knows and got three of them to file complaints. He can deny it all he wants but too many people Mike talked to already know the truth.
ReplyDeleteIt is true. He tried to get me to get his 7.0 player dq'd. I didn't do it, but obviously someone did.
DeleteLOL!! so not true!!!
ReplyDeleteI see that they bump up another tiny le teammates from 3.0 to 4.5
ReplyDeletehow many strike does this guy get ??
I guess USTA don't care how many time captain cheats!!!
ReplyDeleteCaptains or captions
DeleteI see Tony Le and Jorge Aguilar tanking yesterday !!!!
ReplyDeleteLost 2&1 to the Mighty Strohl. Way to keep it on the down low. Always good to keep it off the radar!
DeleteWhat a joke! Please come on here Tony and tell us you tried your hardest yesterday.
DeleteOf course he tried, to lose that match you have to have a plan. Looks like it was executed to perfection.
DeleteOf course, you think they want to lose anymore guys to dq? This may be a record.
ReplyDeleteThink Tony will send Zachry a XMAS gift?
ReplyDeleteHers the bottom line. Know how to work the system. Tony should have talked to Alan A. He seems to be the best mixed captain at working the system. It's a very simple system. If you self rate low, don't win any matches 1.5 points above your self rate. He also has girls self rated 3.0 winning matches easy at 3.5. Will there be more dq's to come? Let's wait and see.
ReplyDeleteWhat a rookie mistake as a captain.
I don't know Tony but this looks like a hand book on what not to do. How does he get good players to play for him with so many captaining mistakes? This has got to be some kind of record.
DeleteHe must be one charming SOB. There is no way he dazzled them with his brilliance.
DeleteWhat brilliance. His top cheaters are being dq'd.
ReplyDeleteAgree w above poster: ohl and ZaCRY A match made in heaven. Burned every bridge in Dallas.
ReplyDeleteMost of the guys on Tony's team are just like him, ego driven, little self worth except for winning some stupid weekend tennis matches (when they need to) bunch of losers! Thats why they all seem to be on the same teams over and over.
ReplyDeleteCome on they only win half their matches. It just happens they win all some years and lose all in other years.
DeleteThis is completely false. Sam Huynh is losing all of his matches.
DeleteComing from someone who was told we didn't want you.
ReplyDeleteWOW!!!! future Tony Le 4.0 player Sam Hyunh has lost his last 11 men's matches in a row. He is averaging winning 1.4 games per set and has been beaten 6-0 or 6-1 a whopping 7 times. WAY TO GO SAM! His best match was losing to heavyweight Bob Somabut 6-0, 6-1.
ReplyDeleteThis is just getting ridiculous.
DeleteAs of right now he could get double bumped to 3.5. Two of his losses were to 4.0 bumpups who haven't won a set in 4.5, except for beating Sam, one of the sets being 6-0. His winning percentage last two men's leagues .000. Oh well, Le recruiting for next year.
DeleteThat is funny considering he has won his mixed 8.0 including a win over Gene Davis who is a solid 4.5. Way to go Sam.
DeleteGene Davis out of tennis 3 years. Good win but he is not a solid 4.5 by any stretch.
DeleteSam mid season rating will be 4.0 according to TLR.
DeleteYou are correct Gene is not a solid 4.5. He is a solid 5.0!
DeleteI want whatever you are smoking!
DeleteAgree with 2:52. Davis solid but playing at a mid 4.5 level.
DeleteIn mixed, he's one of the best around. He may be the second best behind Kelly. Look at his results this season.
DeleteEasy solution here is for the opponent to just walk off the court when Sam keeps tanking, tell him to f**k off and take a retirement.
Delete4.0 playoffs look pretty well set. Although flight A has a few more scores to report I don't think it will effect the outcome any.
ReplyDeleteCities - High Point/Le at 9-0, Oasis/Moehler at 8-0 with one match to report, GTC/Sisk at 8-1, Brookhaven/Bartlett at 8-1, and QT winner.
QT - Greenhill/Ohl at 8-1, Oak Creek/Ramasami at 8-1, Fretz/Noel at 7-1 with one match to report, Oak Creek/Head at 7-2, Oak Creek/Lai at 7-1 with one match to report, and Greenhill/Wendelken at 6-3.
Hey, Sam is much better against 4.0 players only losing 104 games and losing 51 games to 4.5"s.
ReplyDeleteSam's rating is currently 3.91. He will be joining Tony Le 4.0 in the fall. Tony quietly putting together another super team.
DeleteExactly, Tony is once again showing us all how it is done.
DeleteAnyone notice the messed up playoff format for 4.0?
ReplyDeleteQT is two flights of 3 with BOTH flight winners going to cities. That turns what should be a 5 team round robin into a six team event with two flights of 3. Imagine the two teams that go into cities in HP/Le bracket with no chance.
A five team round robin would have made the battle for second and a possible wildcard more fair.
ReplyDeleteBetter hurry because at this rate it will be Tony Le's 4.0 team of 5.0s.
ReplyDeleteI'd play against them. It would be great competition. He would win, but we would have fun. Do you want me to let you know when it will happen? Tony, give me a call. I will bring the beer.
ReplyDeleteAlan
Again 972-675-1272
Tony currently is building a dynasty. He has and will have the best 4,0's around. Gotta give him credit, knows how to recruit and who NOT to take. If you are on his team you are one of the lucky few.
ReplyDeleteThis is a joke, right. The reason he has the best 4.0 team is because he has the most players playing out of level. It is no accomplishment to beat up on weaker competition. He is not the only one to have out of level players, just has the most.
DeleteHahaha! lol !!! Tony is the dumbest captain and cheater ever. If he was good at it, no one would be on here complaining. Instead, he abuses the rules and then does dumb things to get caught.
DeleteTri Level Sections 2013 - has someone play falsely under another player's name. (dumb) Then arranges the score to turn in between his two teams playing each other, but then let them go out there with Houston players watching and have results completely different that what was submitted.(dumber)
Gets the Aguilars to improperly self rate - then hides them on a Fall team to go un-noticed and get a computer rate (smart) - but then lets them play as Open in tournaments with 4.5 players - (blatantly stupid)
10:59 - let's look at the big picture here. What is your master plan to beat Houston (an accomplishment to most tennis players in Dallas)? I certainly hope it is not by putting together a team of whiners like yourself.
DeleteHow about a poll of how many people will root for Tony Le's team at Sectionals versus how many will be rooting for them to lose?
ReplyDeleteHow many 4.0 teams from Dallas have you seen compete with Houston's 4.0 teams? None! Freeman's teams are 4.5s or so but they manipulate the system to be 4.0. All of the other teams that make nationals do the same thing. Why does everyone cry and tear apart Tiny's team when he is trying to represent Dallas? All of these guys will get bumped up anyway so why does it matter? Assuming they make it, I would root for team Le for city pride. They have to get thru cities first.

ReplyDelete10:34, thanks for the support.
DeleteHigh Point lost a couple of guys that really would have made a difference against Houston. Hopefully the remaining players are enough, but those of you who complained have now made the goal of beating Houston very difficult, if not impossible. Congratulations. If this were elementary school you would be deemed tattletales.
The reason Houston wins every year is because they do play the system, and they do have players out of level.
How do they get away with it? The competition refrains from complaining.
you do realize most folks do not care about Dallas beating Houston.
DeleteThey just want to go out each week and play someone who is legitimately at the same level as they are. From there, let the chips fall where they may.
Honestly, who here is rooting for a team of Dallas cheaters to beat a team of Houston cheaters?
No. Their captains aren't total dumb asses. You have to let your players know if they illegally self rate, don't go win open level matches or matches 1 to 1.5 points above your rated level.
ReplyDeleteSo don't get mad when your cheaters don't cheat correctly.
