3.5 Time Has Run Out As Season Nears An End

Flight A - In the match of the week, Westlake takes down High Point 4-1 with HP forfeiting a line of singles. (WTF ??) I feel sorry for Jameson as he evidently has the talent and a sizeable roster of 18 players, yet still has to default a line in their most crucial match of the season. That has to be frustrating. That pretty much wraps up this flight with Garland and Westlake going to the prom.

Flight B - Fretz shows dominance with a 5-0 win this weekend, nudging Huffhines into 2nd place with lines won. High Point Entrekin has no shot at going, unless they get a 5-0 win and Huffhines has a 0-5 loss. Sorry, but don't see that happening. Fretz and Huffhines will be joining Garland and Westlake to the dance.

Flight C - Sam Grand secures 2nd place by beating Brookhaven 4-1 in their make up match. Even if the Village and Brookhaven get a win this week, they mathematically cannot catch up as Sam Grand has a 7 lines won advantage. It is Oak Creek and Samuel Grand joining the others to the playoffs.

Not an "Epic Fail" but by all means a jaw dropper is the lack of commitment from the HP squad. This is the THIRD TIME that HP has to default a line. What gives over there at High Point???

Samuel Grand is the Cinderalla making the prom, coming from nowhere in flight C to make the dance.

As the season is now set, there is little that can be done with this weekend ahead. Perhaps some players managing some scores??? Nah.......that doesn't happen here!!

  1. HP will be good in the spring but the total lack of team commitment is strange.

  2. Out of 18 guys and Highpoint has to forfeit a line ….that’s pitiful!

  3. Oh my God! I can’t believe Brookhaven / Milke lost to Samuell Grand, 1 - 4! WTF? Now if you said that Brookhaven / Alzuro lost to Samuell Grand …Ok, I could believe it! What has happen to the Brookhaven / Milke team? Their in the running to make the playoffs, then Oak Creek takes them down, 5 – 0 and now their tied for 4th place. They must have completely lost their focus! Their cooked! That’s it, the season is over for Brookhaven / Milke.

  4. Who tought BH/Milke was any good in the first place? The best teams are:

    1) GTC
    2) Westlake
    3) OC
    4) Huffhines
    5) SG
    6) Fretz

None of these teams are dominant. GTC only wins 3-2 and they received 2 defaults with their only real win in a 3rd set tiebreak. They are primed for a fall but I won't dethrone the champs until they are actually beaten.

  5. I think Fretz and Oak Creek will pose a threat to GTC. While GTC has a deep roster (23 players) the question is how well those guys know each other and play good together. Unless they are way out of level ringers in there, I would place my money on the teams that have built some unity together throughout the season.

  6. GTC can't win a singles line and sweeping doubles isn't likely at city. Sisk may like his progress for the spring but they don't look ready to repeat this fall.

  7. look for Sam Grand to make some noise in the playoffs...they have a solid team despite the DQ of their #1 singles player earlier.

    ReplyDelete
  8. If Sisk is hiding a singles player, he is doing a damn fine job of it. Actually, outside of Clark/Wiley, I don't see an automatic win.

  9. Huffines continues to be under estimated. Huffines has not shown their best line up and have only played enough to win. Ed is a crafty captain. He is working with David Prather to get the 4.0 guys bumped back down while his current 3.5 guys get better. Straight out of Sisk's play book.

    Way to go Ed.

  10. The sisk playbook must have changed. He's got a lot of bumpups and no bump downs off his squad I am aware of. Call it what it is. If someone wants to build a 3.5 team off of 4.0 tankers go ahead, just don't blame John to make yourself feel better.

  11. The High Point/Jameson 3.5 team really sucks. Sure they have a big roster but not a single player who could win matches in the post season. They have gone steadily down the last 2 or 3 years and now they'll be sitting home during the fall playoffs. Also I dont expect much from this team in the spring.

  12. i heard some of the hp 3.5 guys want to play at lifetime or greenhill in the spring. its like rats dashing from a sinking ship at hp.

    ReplyDelete
  13. They can take over for the rats leaving LFT. Sounds like they should all be trying to get on Huffines for their big spring run.

  14. Anon. November 3, 2009 5:48 AM

You have no idea what is going on in the spring at HP.. Watch out for a good team at 3.5

    ReplyDelete
  15. Try-outs for the HP Spring team will be held next Sun. at HP at 1:00. Anyone wishing to be on the team that will be going to Nationals in '10 is welcome to try-out.

    P. Jameson

P.S. Bribes will be gladly accepted.

  16. There are two or three guys on the Sp. Pk. team that should be recruited away......they haven't fielded a good 3.5 team in a decade or so.

    ReplyDelete
  17. One of the guys on the OC team played for SP last season. Good move on his part...

  18. Which team is more disfunctional LTF or HP?

    ReplyDelete
  19. In 2010 Stan's team will be the HP team to look out for. They are on their way up while Jameson's team is on the way down.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Top 3.5 teams in 2010 will be Garland/Sisk and Huffines/Ratcliffe.

As always Sisk will bring forward a boat load of 3.5 ringers. Ratcliffe will recruit all the top 3.5 tournament players.

LTF and HP will not be in the mix. But Oak Creek and Sam Grand may challenge.

    ReplyDelete
  21. In 2010 all the top captains will try to recruit any bump downs from 4.0. Whether they are legit or not doesnt matter.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Get ready for the Prather Garland klan to get bumped back down to the 3.5 level. They have been working hard at dropping matches for the last seasons.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Well, that's how the system works.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Do u think Greenhill will get some of their 4.0s bumped back down at year-end?

    ReplyDelete
  25. Greenhill made the playoffs, they should be benchmarks, so I'd say they have no chance of moving back down to 3.5 for the spring.

    ReplyDelete
  26. There are 2 4.0 Greenhill teams.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Where's ANON 2 been?

    ReplyDelete
  28. Yea, and Incognito too? Not to mention Anon 3 and the ugly anon? Speak up boys!

    ReplyDelete
  29. They all got bumped up you moron, where else do you think they would be.

BTW, how many players on the LTF team are headed to 3.0? How fing embarrasing.

Cary, can you please start a 3.0 section for the LTF losers that are better at talking than playing tennis. Pathetic.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Bazan,

I will be the moderator for the 3.0section.

    Big Bird

  31. Incognito was Gerber. He was bumped and now he is silent since he isn't playing, except for bashing his fellow lifetime players.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Gerber, Incognito, or whomever else doesn't need to bash any lifetimers, they are doing a pretty good job of that on their own. Word is that team will be banned from playing at lifetime again, they are tarnishing the reputation.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Gerber played 1 match at 4.0 this fall and lost at 3rd line doubles. What a loser.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Guys ......we don't need a 3.0 section!

    ReplyDelete
  35. Just looked over the lifetime record, what a bunch a losers.

    Kaiser 1 & 3
    Anderson 2 & 6 (lost to Ratcliffe)

Looks like the only two that did average are Eshelman and the infamous Kenny.

How embarrasing. Can you say, HELLO THREE Ohhhhhhhhhhhhh.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Gerber- get off the 3.5 blog unless you are on here because you know you getting knocked bakced down from 4.0

    kkk
    (kaiser, kenny, kim)

    ReplyDelete
  37. Based on records, I would say the kkk has a lot better chance of getting bumped down than Gerber does.

    kkk = HELLO THREE OHHHHHHHHHHH.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Those LifeTime scumbags are intentionally throwing matches trying to get back to 3.0.

The BigTurd cant win at 3.5 so 3.0 looks appealing.

    ReplyDelete
  39. I am hoping that BigBird does get dropped back to 3.0 at year-end. Then maybe we can get a decent captain for our 3.5 team next year.

    - Kenny

    ReplyDelete
  40. Has the 3.5 blog really become this pathetic where all we can do is bash Lifetime?? There has been no talk on the upcoming matches or who is making it into the playoffs. This is getting old and obviously some guys with sps getting off.

    ReplyDelete
  41. The reason LTF 3.5 team is not any good is not the captain its commitment.

    ReplyDelete
  42. wow, the ignorant lifetime captain tells us he is not the problem. isnt that reassuring! most teammates know different.

    ReplyDelete
  43. The problem lifetime may be the captain, but it is also that u r a bunch of whiney pus*ies that accept no responsibilty for ur performance. Its always some1 elses fault. And in response to the lifetime anon, it is fun to bash lifetime cause u get to watch them cry like little girls.

    ReplyDelete
  44. my guess is this crap isn't coming from anybody on the lifetime team. just some anon trying to stir something. the funny thing is, this blog post is supposed to be discussing the teams heading to the playoffs, yet all the attention is going elsewhere. you guys must really miss lifetime not being there.

    ReplyDelete
  45. LTF win 5-0 over JCC...and ends season 4-4...
If it was not for the 1st two weeks when 5 lines were lost in match tiebreaks LTF's record could easily have been 6-2...

    Not a bad result considering..

    ReplyDelete
  46. If Lifetimes 3.5 team had made the playoffs they would have choked like every other year.
