3.5 Season Ends - Playoffs Not For Another Month

With the 3.5 season finishing off as expected, teams are now having to wait a full month before the playoffs which is scheduled for December 11-13. What will teams be doing to stay fresh? Are any teams looking for scrimmages to keep sharp?

Also, end of year rankings should be out prior to the playoffs. We will know which teams will be losing players in the Spring.

Flight A - 1st Garland & 2nd Westlake
Flight B - 1st Fretz & 2nd Huffhines
Flight C - 1st Oak Creek & 2nd Samuel Grand

Congrats to the above teams, and good luck in the playoffs ! Hopefully we can have some posts discussing these teams and avoid the trash talking about the teams who aren't going.

  1. Why can't the DTA offer/sponsor winter leagues -- between fall and spring seasons -- like so many other places like Central Austin Tennis Association, HTA, etc.?

It just makes so much sense, as it would be an ideal avenue for actual match play. Then again, since it makes sense, maybe that's why DTA won't/hasn't done it!

  2. Does anyone know the playoff format? Is it round robin?

    ReplyDelete
  3. It is likely to be 2 3 match flights of round robin and the winner of each flight plays in the finals.

    ReplyDelete
  4. Big Bird's team should win the playoffs. Looks like they're dialed in now after a nice 5-0 win.

    ReplyDelete
  5. Current Power Rankings:
#1 Garland- Does not appear as strong as previous teams, but is that just what Sisk wants people to believe?
#2 Fretz- After struggling early, Fretz has been bulldozing teams. They already beat Huffhines this year and beat Oak Creek and Westlake in the Spring.
#3 Oak Creek- Perhaps the most improved team from the spring and an impressive undefeated record (even though they played in the weakest flight).
#4 Huffhines- Hats off to Ratcliffe. His team was devasted by bump ups and this was a rebuilding season. Impressive, but the talent is just not there to win it all.
#5 Sam Grand-The Dark Horse, but losing Schoen hurts their chances of making any real noise.
#6 Westlake- Sorry, but somebody has to be last and I just don't see Westlake doing much.

  6. I think GTC is OVERRATED. I think Huffhines or Oak Creek will win it. GTC barely got by Westlake, HP and Dallas Country Club.

    ReplyDelete
  7. Garland looks to be the strongest team.

    ReplyDelete
  8. Hey, why is Lifetime not on your list?

    ReplyDelete
  9. Gtc beats everbody in dubs just their singles will be their downfall.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Garland has yet to play there best 8 all at one time.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Eventually, somebody will lose in dubs. GTC will go down. Personally, I would like it to be Clark and Wiley who lose and cost GTC. They are both smug and arrogant.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Who has the strongest 1-2 singles players?

    ReplyDelete
  13. The British Ninja is by far the best singles player at the 3.5 level.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Not sure who has good singles players. Westlake has some pretty good ones. Their new guy, Randy Michael Baker, has some really good results. I have not seen him or heard of him but he appears to be flirting with DQ.

Huffhines has wona lot of singles matches too with lots of different players.

Fretz has had several do well too.

OC has won nearly all of their matches too.

GTC has won nearly every doubles line. They have a total of 11 losses and 9 have been singles losses.

Sisk has to be concerned that he has no singles players. I think that bites GTC.

    ReplyDelete
  15. I think Fretz has some momentum going and may surprise folks.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Yes, Fretz does have the momentum. In the last 5 weeks, Fretz has 23 wins and 2 losses. If the playoffs were tomorrow, they could take it all. Not sure how the long layoff will affect teams.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Fretz is definitely the team to beat. Albrecht is just a beast of a player.

    ReplyDelete
  18. It is crazy for our fall 3.5 league to be over and yet we wait for playoffs. We should be playing this weekend while the weather is still good. There is no valid reason to wait.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Who is the British Ninja Anon 12:59?

    ReplyDelete
  20. Waiting a month for playoffs? The DTA really sucks.

The total lack of common sense at the DTA is beyond belief!

    ReplyDelete
  21. Anon 5:22 stick to your lone star thread! "Beast of a player" at 3.5 no such thing lol>>>>>>>>>> Wiley/Clark will be beat, but not at 3.5.

    ReplyDelete
  22. delay playoffs 1 month - total bs

    ReplyDelete
  23. The two teams most likely to knock off GTC are Fretz and Oakcreek. These two teams have the singles players to dominate garland and doubles that are at least on the same level as GTC. So watch out big John!

Wiley and Clark are very arrogant but until somebody knocks them off I guess they can get away with it.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Yeah... I hate those smug bastards (Wiley/Clark) too. In fact, everytime I look in the mirror I get an uncontrollable urge to punch Wiley in the nose. I have bloodied countless knuckles in the morning just seeing that arrogant SOB.

I heard that the two of them walk around looking for kittens and puppies to kick. And it is well documented that Wiley has stolen twinkies from little kids to feed his already massive ego. I used to just think he was fat until I realized he wears his ego on his stomach.

For the love of kittens and puppies, please beat them. Do it for the puppies and kittens. Every day those two can go out of their house a puppy and a kitten die.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Coyote, I played Greg Wiley and he was extremely nice. His calls were all very fair and he was nice before the match and after. I did not get the feeling he was arrogant. I don't know Clark but Greg was a good guy. Maybe he is different when he loses.

    ReplyDelete
  26. I saw Wiley at the Ghengis Grill this week-end,
He had a dozen bowls of Mongolian BBQ in front of him,
They had to kick him out 30 minutes after close, he didn't want to leave.

Greg you know it's true, lol

    ReplyDelete
  27. Wiley is the reason the Ghengis Grill on Park and the Tollway went under. He went in there every weekend with his 12 kids which each had a bowl, in addition to the 12 bowls he typically puts down.

    ReplyDelete
  28. LOL, yes, I did see you at Ghengis and I could not finish that 12th bowl. They kicked me out before I even got started. I think they were going to feed it back to the kittens and puppies that I did not get around to kicking.

As for the the kids having the twelve bowls... that is not true either. You only have to pay $4 more for the extra bowls and I would never pay for the kids bowls. All you can eat is all you can eat.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Weather this weekend:
70's and sunshine. But no 3.5 fall playoffs.

    Weather Dec 11-13:
30s - 40s, windy, cold and possible rain

    What's wrong with this picture?

    ReplyDelete
  30. waiting a month for bad weather to start the playoffs does suck

    ReplyDelete
  31. Wiley and Clark sounds like a gay porno.

    So.....which one catches?

    ReplyDelete
  32. Does anyone else think that this will be a long month off?

    ReplyDelete
  33. Yep, a month off is crazy. The DTA really has their heads up their butts.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Dta like the gov does what they want without asking us what we want. Vote them out for being dumbasses.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Good Point!

Except I dont think the leaders at the DTA can be voted out. They are there for life. And we are stuck with piss poor league administration. (esp their secretive seedings & distribution of teams into flights)

    - Brian

    ReplyDelete
  36. so is the gtc al queda training camp hosting scrimmages this weekend?

    ReplyDelete
  37. gtc 3.5 ringers are staying "under the radar" until spring.

    ReplyDelete
  38. I thought all of the GTC ringers were in the proccess of getting their limbs reattached so they will be ready for spring play...

    ReplyDelete
  39. The Genghis Grill on park closed because it was in a shitty location. Unless you were in the know, you never even knew it was there. Bad decision on where to put it. if it was in uptown, they would have been rich (until Wiley found it).

    ReplyDelete
  40. Hey guys, when they say all you can eat it should be all you can eat. When you open an all you can eat when I am in town it is at your own pocketbook peril. Why do you think it is so hard to find a sit down Pizza Hut buffet in this city?

Ghengis Grill throwing me out for eating too much is the biggest false advertising travesty since... The Never Ending Story movie.

I am calling for a class action!

    ReplyDelete
  41. The problem with DTA league administrators is that you have 1 or 2 people with a Napoleon complex. They think they know everything and they resist any positive change. Sometimes they pretend to ask for your opinion but they really just want your money and they want you to shut up.

    ReplyDelete
  42. I think the whole month long wait is a bit ridiculous. How many of us will be playing our best tennis with a month off and after holidays?

I don't think it was thought through.

    ReplyDelete
  43. another blunder by the dta. they dont seem to have any common sense. esp jane gilpin

    ReplyDelete
  44. another blunder by the DTA? The hell you say.... impossible.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Just shut up and play.

    ReplyDelete
  46. I dont know Kraemer but I hope he is a decent guy. Whats wrong with the DTA should not be too hard to fix.

    ReplyDelete
  47. anon 1:46
There is no league play going on now genius.

I agree with anon 3:17. League admin could & should be a lot better

  48. thank you, jane gilpin, for your input.

    ReplyDelete
  49. IT IS CURIOUS WHY WE CANT GET THE SAME LEVEL OF PROFESSIONALISM IN RUNNING OUR DTA LEAGUES AS IS COMMON FOR USTA TOURNAMENTS ACROSS THE STATE & COUNTRY.

I NEVER SAW A TOURN SEED PLAYERS BUT KEEP THE SEEDINGS SECRET. I NEVER SAW A TOURN PLACE THE TOP 5 OR 6 PLAYERS ALL IN THE SAME BRACKET. TOURNAMENTS ALWAYS PLACE NONSEEDED PLAYERS INTO THE BRACKET BASED ON RANDOM DRAW _ NOT AT THE WHIM OF A DTA CLERK.

WHAT DOES IT TAKE TO HAVE A MINIMUM LEVEL OF PROFESSIONALISM?

    ReplyDelete
  50. good point, but what is the answer to fix this?

    ReplyDelete
  51. 4.0 thread has bump up predictions. Any one care to tackle this for 3.5?

    ReplyDelete
  52. 3.5 Bump-ups
    Lipsie
    Kay
    Erdemi
    Cooper
    Murrell
    Wiley-long overdue
    Clark-long overdue
    Venugopal
    Adams
    Peters
    Cope
    Hardwick
    Norris
    Danh
    Shelley
    Tran
    Bogle
    Hopkins
    Decordova
Probably a few others I missed

    ReplyDelete
  53. Fretz wins it!

    Odds

    Fretz 5/2
    OC 4/1
    GTC 4/1
    Huffines 6/1

    The rest have no shot!

    ReplyDelete
  54. Lipsie as a bump up? God help 4.0 tennis. He has not even been competitive in his 4.0 matches and has multiple losses at 3.5.

On that list there might only be 1 or 2 that even have a chance to be competitive besides Clark and Wiley.

    ReplyDelete
  55. The league admin problems are relatively easy to fix.

However, the DTA normally blows off any suggestions from players. They have gotten away with a lack of professionalism and fairness for a long time.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Re: 3.5 bump up predictions.

I was under the impression that to get bumped up you need to win the majority of your matches, say 70%. Also if you are winning many of your matches and only giving up 6 or less games per match you have a good chance of being bumped.

With that said many of those mentioned are average 3.5 players.

If you are winning say 50-60% of your matches but giving up 10+ games in doing so I would think you were exactly where you should be....

Am I way off base in my thinking....

    ReplyDelete
  57. Not sure about your thinking but you are way off base on your "name"!

JK, your rational makes sense to me.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Who has played agaisnt these potential bump ups and are they gd 4.0 material?

    ReplyDelete
  59. I've played or observed the following:
    Lipsie: Shoudl stay in 3.5
    Cooper: Should stay in 3.5
Wiley: Will do well in 4.0
Clark: Will do well in 4.0
    Venugopal: Should stay in 3.5
Adams: Should stay in 3.5 but be okay in 4.0
Hardwick: Should stay in 3.5 but be okay in 4.0
Norris: Will do well in 4.0
    DeCordova: Should stay in 3.5

    Other not mentioned:
Stein: Will do well in 4.0

    I don't know the others so I can't comment.

The best of the bumpups is Wiley and Clark. Both should have been midyear bumps.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Anon 1:39pm: thanks for your predictions, but I do wish you would have put the first name or team name down for easier reference. Most of these guys just aren't household names.

I don't see Lipsie as a bump up. He has a pretty good 3.5 record, but mostly at line 2 singles. His 4.0 record is terrible.

Some of these other guys do have pretty good records in the fall, but you got to remember that the competition is weaker in the fall and these records don't look so good when you factor in their spring records and tournaments. I could be off base, but I don't see most of those guys getting bumped. It will be interesting.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Stein is way overrated!! His 3.5 record is average at best. He has some success in tournaments but struggles in league play.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Geez...That list would wipe out the Fretz team. They also have a new guy I played last weekend in southlake that has no business being 3.5. I can't remember his name but I don't think he was listed.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Anon 10:23 AM

Was the Fretz player you were referring to was Andrew Meyer? He told me he played line 3 doubles for him and is 3-1. & doubles is not his best.

He is a good 3.5 singles player but to early to say if he should be bumped. If he does well in the spring then a bump up 4 sure.

    ReplyDelete
  64. anon 10:52

That sounds right, I'm not good with names. And you are probably right about him not being ready to be bumped. I guess after playing him and watching some of his matches I came away with an overly inflated opinion of him.

    ReplyDelete
  65. Here is my list of most likely to get bumped up to 4.0,\

    Ray Bogle
    John Shelly
    Pedro Montalvo
    Win Purifoy
    Richard Waters
    Keith Clark
    Greg Wiley
    Zach Stein
    Jeff Lee Riffert
    Stephen Decordova
    Robert Gass
    Tolga Erdemli
    Nitin Jayaram
    Jacek Stachurski

All of these players would be fine playing 4.0, however the top 3 are Wiley, Clark and Stachurski (he is an Oleg clone)!

    ReplyDelete
  66. I agree w/ 3:30 poster---great work

    ReplyDelete
  67. anon 1:04 PM

I am someone who only posts opinions about players if I have played them or seen them play.

I have been playing usta league tennis since 2008 and have been to nationals. Who are you?

    ReplyDelete
  68. Bigbird lover,
"been to nationals"? Really, then tell us who you are and what your record at nationals was? That's what I thought...

    ReplyDelete
  69. BigBirdLover = Coyote? He has been to nationals and that is about the time he came on the scene.

    ReplyDelete
  70. BigBirdLover = Coyote?

Come on. You can't be serious. He posts under his name and it sounds like he is too busy eating at buffets to post as an alias.

    ReplyDelete
  71. I am not BigBirdLover. It could have been because the buffets don't open for a few more minutes.

As I understand, the who you beat and who you lose to along with scores determine your bumps. Keith Clark did not get bumped up and he was undefeated but most of his opponents had bad records. I would infer from that that beating bad players relatively easily is not bad but beating a top level guy 6-3 6-4 may actually cause you to get bumped.

Also, I am interested in seeing Stachurski. Until this morning, I had never even heard his name.

Sadly, I know less than half the people on those lists.

    ReplyDelete
  72. November 18, 2009 7:02 AM

My record in national was I lost my singles match 11-13 in the 3rd set tiebreak. Also lost the doubles match 1-6, 1-6 against a very good team.. So I lost my matches does that make you feel like a better player?

Now go spend time trolling the usta site looking to work out who I am, instead of hitting the courts and making your game better so you too might be able to reach nationals one day!

    ReplyDelete
  73. Stachurski may be a great player, but he hasn't played enough matches to be bumped and his 2 wins would be deemed competitive IMO. Is Ratcliffe managing scores? Not sure but he will have a solid singles player in the spring with a 3.5 computer rating. Translation-non DQ player regardless of scores. The guy is a genious.

    ReplyDelete
  74. The Bigturd lover is obnoxious

I doubt he has ever been to Nats

    ReplyDelete
  75. Hey Coyote, do you stick the whole twinkie in your mouth as your typing posts?

    ReplyDelete
  76. November 18, 2009 9:54 AM

    ok, if you say so.
When I get some time I will take a picture of the National Towel we were given.....
Then you will tell me that I bought it on Ebay...

    Get a game...

    ReplyDelete
  77. Bigbird lover, besides being an obvious flamer, you seem to be a little to consumed with the fact you played on a Bender team that cheated its way to nationals all for what... a towel? You clearly were riding someone elses coattails to get there as you said you went 0-2... Maybe you need to get a game, or are you satisfied playing 3.0 tennis?

    ReplyDelete
  78. It is possible he played for Sisk too. Didn't Sisk go to nationals in 2008?

    ReplyDelete
  79. If a bump up list is started for captains, I say Ed Ratcliffe should be #1. I think he's the best combination strategist, recruiter and player at our level. It's amazing what he has done this fall in a supposed "rebuilding" season. Nice job, Ed.

    ReplyDelete
  80. Also, congrats to all the captains and players making the playoffs. I'm looking forward to meeting you guys.

    ReplyDelete
  81. Nicholas M. Walton? - was on Bender's team now on Kaiser's.

    ReplyDelete
  82. What about Sutherland, Kuhn, and Femrite? No one thinks they will get bumped?

    ReplyDelete
  83. It couldn't be Nick, his words would have a funny accent when he typed them.

    ReplyDelete
  84. Ed got lucky that some players landed in his lap

    ReplyDelete
  85. There is no luck involved when players want to play for a certain captain.Sisk's teams Win at both levels. Ratcliffe is well liked and respected by his players. That's why players want to play for both of them.
Good Luck to both of them in the playoffs. Too bad they are in the same flight.

    ReplyDelete
  86. BigTurdLover is definitely Walton.
Check TennisLink. At Nats he lost a singles match 1-6, 1-6 and lost a doubles match in a 3rd set tiebreak.

Nick is an excellent singles player. 3.0 Nats must be very tough if someone beat him 1-6, 1-6.

    ReplyDelete
  87. November 19, 2009 7:06 AM

Why do you love Kaiser??? Thats kinda weird.

    ReplyDelete
  92. November 20, 2009 9:21 AM

    ReplyDelete
  100. Ed R. is definitly the best Captain in the Dallas area. He had 4 good players and was able to go to Sectionals in the Spring and has gotten to the Play-offs with primarily role players. Ed gets the best out of the talent he is given. Ed's recruiting is done for him by the people that want to see him succeed.

Ed for Captain of the Year given the players that he had to work with. The other Captains had a much higher level of talent to work from.

    ReplyDelete
  101. Yea ed was out there giving his less talanted players lessons and having them play above their level.

    ReplyDelete
  102. anon 6:58 am
Yes, Ratcliffe is a decent captain. But he is a long, long way from being the best captain in Dallas. That statement is just crazy.

This is Ed's first year at being a captain and HE HAS NOT WON ANYTHING SO FAR. His spring team was loaded with star players including Oleg, Enrique, Chris Jones, Mark Anderson, etc. That team had as much talent as any team in 3.5 Dallas. Yet this team finished 2nd place at the DCC and lost out in the RR at Sectionals. (After getting a wildcard)

Best captains are those guys that have won a bunch of championships over many years and have made a splash at the National level. Guys like Somabut and Bender. Those guys are the best. And Sisk will be in the same category in a few years. Still Ed is a good guy and we all wish him well.

    ReplyDelete
  103. GAYEST CAPTAIN: NANCY NOEL

    ReplyDelete
  104. Ed's spring team really only had 2 good players...they just got lucky with lineups.

    ReplyDelete
  105. somabut is the best. his team finished 3rd at nats without their best singles player

    ReplyDelete
  106. bender's 3.0 team was one of the weakest teams at 3.0 nats this year. They were only 1-2 at nats and if a tiebreak goes differently they would have been 0-3. pretty lame.

    ReplyDelete
  107. November 22, 2009 11:46 AM,

    were you there?
his team lost getting into the semi finals because there best double linup had to default after being up a set and a break due to bad cramping of one player... If not for that would have beaten eastern and been through the semi,s.

Not saying they would have advanced any further however had a good shot and the talent to reach semi finals.

    ReplyDelete
  116. Don't forget Fretz and Lifetime Fitness in the spring.

    ReplyDelete
  117. City tournament. Who has the goods in singles versus doubles? Who are the 4 best lines in each? Someone's got to have an opinion.

    ReplyDelete
  118. Don't overlook Sam Grand in the fall playoffs...they beat Oak Creek in a scrimmage last weekend. They could be a team to watch next spring if they make a run in the playoffs.

    ReplyDelete
  119. Sam Grand brought in a real ringer who fortunatley was DQed. Those guys cheat.

    ReplyDelete
  120. Tick-Tock, Tick-Tock, Tick-Tock . . . waiting for fall playoffs

Way to go DTA. Another dumb decision w/o any player input.

    ReplyDelete
  121. I hear next year Jane Gilpin plans to hold the fall playoffs in Alaska in January. That should be great fun for everyone!

    ReplyDelete
  122. Was wondering why no posts about all the bump ups but now its clear. Everyone on this blog is now a 4.0. Its not a question of who got bumped, its more a question of who is left. Over 30% of all 3.5s were bumped.

    ReplyDelete
  123. new bumpup numbers posted on the 4.0 blog. almost 40% of all 3.5s were bumped to 4.0. don't know if that includes mid-year bumps or not, but expect to see the same faces next year --- just at 4.0.

    ReplyDelete
  124. It looks like Sisk's team had 14 players moved up. WOW!!!

We knew Wiley/Clark/Stein would get moved up but Tommie Coleman? William Murray? and some of the others. Alot of those players will get slaughtered at 4.0.

  125. RIP 3.5! See you guys in the 4.0 league - except for Kaiser of course. Now he's got the 3.5 league and blog all to himself.

  126. It's my first year in league play but it looks dangerous. You get on a decent team but you're not that good, so... they play you twice against bad teams, they partner you with someone who can carry you to a win, and now you are a 4.0. Welcome to the usta.

  127. So now that all of the teams in the fall playoff have had most of their players bumped to 4.0, and the prospects for appealing down are slim, what's the point in playing the fall playoffs? Whoever wins will be securing a spot in the spring DCC for an almost different group of guys. I'm sure those teams will be real motivated to play their best in 40 degree weather for pride alone.

    Team 4.0 3.5
    --------- --- ---
    Garland 15 4
    Westlake 8 5
    Fretz 11 3
    Huffines 13 6
    Oak Creek 13 1
    Sam Grand 7 4

  128. Isn't there some USTA/DTA restriction that a certain % of the fall winning team has to return to get automatic spring playoff spot? If that's the case, it really is pointless other than for pride.

Is anybody even left at 3.5?

  129. It looks like the HP 3.0 bumpup team may be the team to beat in 3.5. Not that they may be that great but there is nothing left. This may be a near legitimate 3.5 league. With the exception of the self rates, it should be real 3.5s.

This may finally squeeze the tankers out of the system. There will be no more Klamecki, Sisk, Prather and other players that repeatedly bump up and down.

  130. There will always be new ringers each season

    ReplyDelete
  131. Agreed. It just got easier to sandbag, not harder. Self rates will still dominate because because as long as you didn't play in college you're pretty much good to go in 3.5. Only now all the good 3.5s are gone.

  132. Sisk is done w/3.5--have fun!!! Good luck w/ Puerto Rico. Look and see how many times they won Nationals at 3.0/3.5---Where is the Usta police? Different standard? You can't tell me that the tennis markets in Texas aren't as strong as Puerto Rico. I looked up their singles players who faced us at Nationals last year, and the only time they lost was against each other in tournament play. Their scores were as gaudy as Flora, but no dq's. Defeo lost 3-1 in singles. He is now 16-1? in 4.0 singles.---just prepare!! If you take a team to Nationals, you need 2 levels above what you are playing, at least I did.

Have fun!!!! Bender,Somabut know the drill!

  133. Puerto Rico has always gotten special treatment from the USTA. It's PC

    Huffines/Ratcliffe 13
    Oak Creek/Smith 13
    HP/Jameson 13
    Fretz/Albrecht 11

  136. 3.5 teams to watch in the spring:

    1) Gleneagles/Smith returns 15 players from a team that was 5-3.

    2) Oak Creek/Reader returns 12 players from a 5-3 team

    3) Village/Leis returns 9 players from a 5-3 team.

  137. John Sisk,

Your rift on the money with having to be 2 levels above to have a shot at winning nationals.
IMHO even the worst players / teams / lines at nationals are a level above..

I see dallas having a strong shot a sectionals this spring at 3.5.

    ReplyDelete
  138. Favorite for the spring would be Sisk if he kept a 3.5 team. He reloads better than any other captain at 3.5. Too bad he's moving on.

    ReplyDelete
  139. Sisk is correct. The level of play at Nationals is worlds better than city. A Dallas 'superteam' would still ahve a hard time winning.

The following Dallas lineup from last year would still struggle to win it all. They would be very competitive but no guarantees of a win.

    These are my top 8.

    Oleg
    Chris Jones
    Marc Klamecki
    Greg Wiley
    Stephen Bennett
    Keith Clark
    Wade Varner
    Jerry Palacioz

  140. Level 4.0 in 2010 will be very similar to level 3.5 in 2008 and 2009. The top 4.0 players were all bumped up to 4.5. The best players that were bumped from 3.5 to 4.0 will now be top dogs in a diluted 4.0 2010 competition.

4.0 playoffs will include a bunch of guys that played 3.5 playoffs in prior years.

  141. "I see dallas having a strong shot a sectionals this spring at 3.5."

What are you smoking? Dallas 3.5 has been totally destroyed. In 2010 Dallas 3.5 will be only a little better than a 3.0 league. We'll get murdered at Sectionals _ by cities that were not hit nearly as hard as we were.

Not smoking anything just know more than you do. Mark my words their are still a few solid 3.5 players out their and always some self rates from Ultimate....

  143. Well Captain Fantastic picked an appropriate picture here. Not because of turning into a corpse waiting for the playoffs, but more like the whole end of season bump ups turning 3.5 into a level that is now completely dead.

  144. IN 2010 LEVEL 3.5 = 2009 LEVEL 3.0+
