So one more week to go and playoff spots are on the line in a couple of flights but a couple of flights are all but set in cement.
Flight A:
This is one of the cement flights as TBar faces off against Springpark and should win easily and head into the DCC. HP/Bob will casually join them as they finish off their final match. BTW, thanks for all the calls and emails last week about my "secret", not a huge deal in this flight but I could see this scenario happening, you all will just have to wait and see the results come in for this flight. Hackberry hangs on to slim hopes and will need a 5-0 sweep and some help to get into the QT tourney.
Flight B:
Upset of the year in this flight had to be LB Houston beating Stonebridge on Saturday, Stonebridge had to best shot to catch us but now have eliminated themselves from playoff contention. Of course we have to play this same LB Houston team on Saturday so thanks for the heads up that this team has not packed it in. Brookhaven fell as well this week to Garland, Garland clinches spot in DCC and Brookhaven falls out of playoffs entirely unlesss some teams lose around them. They do have Huffines in front of them so there are style points to be earned. We did our part in trying to get that QT spot and with Garland's help we actually moved into 2nd place this weekend.
Flight C:
This flight has gotten interesting as three teams are still in it for 1st and 2nd and one could possibly earn a wildcard spot as well. The MOW is Brookhaven v. LB Houston, the winner will be in and the loser will be checking their tiebreakers to see if they are still in the playoffs. The Village has JCC and "should" win and then will await the outcome of the MOW to see if they are in or not. I wish I had a read on this flight but there has been some odd results and lineups. Looks like Burt might not have had their best players out v. the Village and thus the Village came out on top. The Village must be kicking themselves for that early loss to Garland/2 (yikes!?). I will say looking at these rosters the Village is the best overall team but they have to toughest road to make it into the QT.
Flight D:
Another of the cement flights, I guess I will call this a 2nd MOW but even if one of them sweeps each other they will just play each other again in two weeks in the QT. I do know Eddie and Don have small rosters so the best most likely will be out to get a tune up. I like LTF 3-2 in this one. Springpark should be good to go into the DCC if they win this week.
Rockettman,
ReplyDeleteDid we get any of our top captains on board for our 4.0 Premier League in the fall???
Way to go Cary you rigged the voting for the OC LTF match so you cannot vote for Lifetime to win?????
ReplyDeleteCarey, you seem to be forgetting that there are two (2) WILD CARD spots in the Mini Playoffs. So two third place teams will get in. Maybe Bartlett Brookhaven who beat you in the regular season.
ReplyDeleteHe didn't forget - that's why Hackberry still has a chance. It's between Hackberry and BH/ Bartlett for that last Wildcard it seems
ReplyDeleteDon't think so fellas. Oak Creek or Lifetime are guaranteed one of those Wildcard spots. Both are 7-1 with 1 match to play against each other. Both have 8 or less lines lost. That means there is only 1 wild card spot remaining for Bazaan, BH, Hack to fight it out for.
ReplyDeleteThat is right. OC and LTF get one of the wild cards for sure. If Bazaan wins he is in. If he losses he has to hope for others to lose. Hack & Brookhaven & Village/Johnson. It is that simple.
ReplyDeleteJust wanted to continue the thread from last week and say that there is no way the Macfarland and Defeao from Garland can beat Myers and Mudsum from lifetime and that dosent even include the great Eddie!!! Take that to the bank!
ReplyDeleteLol i'd take that bet. Kinda hard to "take it to the bank" when being posted by anonymous, and your not actually putting any money on it. Put your money where your mouth is....
ReplyDeleteLifetime wins 4-1 at OC this weekend. Lifetime wins QT. Lifetime wins DCC.
ReplyDeleteok 1:41 "anon" state who you are for the bet and I will let you know who you will owe the $$$ to.
ReplyDeleteI'll second that bet.. Defeao is inconsistent and will lose his head in a big match
ReplyDeleteAnon,
ReplyDeleteWhen has Jerry lost his head during a big match? Was it at Nationals last year when he won only 2/3 of his matches? Ooops my bad.
Sisk, you should really consider not taking the bait everytime someone says something about one of your players. It truly takes away from the good job you are doing right now as a captain.
ReplyDeleteYep you are right anon I did forget about the 2nd WC because I had been holding onto it for dear life for 3 weeks now I forgot we are now in 2nd place. So Brookhaven/BB, Hackberry and the 3rd place in Flight C will be vying for this spot.
ReplyDeleteBest of luck to you all and I hope we can hold onto our spot, I am on lineup #4 and it is only Tuesday.
Not sure how Defeo losses his head, since he has not lost at 4.0.
ReplyDeleteDefeo has an impressive record, and mcfarland has also not lost at 4.0 or dropped a set looking at his record. 0 and 2 against Brookhaven's #1 guy Don makes you wonder if he was not really trying to hard in his earlier matches in the season. I'm not sure I would be betting $ against either.
ReplyDeleteEveryone leave Garland alone. John's a great guy and has a very strong team. I think they'll knock off Somabut this year. HP is way overrated based solely on past performance.
ReplyDeleteYou mean we are overrated because we go to sectionals every year.
ReplyDeleteExactly, and with most of the same players. SANDBAGGERS!
ReplyDeletesomabut is a outstanding recruiter but does not do a very good with his line-ups. sometimes his doubles pairings are not the best and sometime he plays his backup players in crucial matches. also he is not good at anticipating what his oppnent will do in terms of stacking their line-up. HP would be better if somabut handled only the recruiting and allowed someone else to run the team. perhaps co-captains.
ReplyDeletei think somabut will screw up again and either garland or spring park will knock them off this year.
SP has absolutely no chance of knocking off HP. Garland is a better team than SP, but also can't compete.
ReplyDeleteSP is better than you think. 2 very strong doubs lines and 2 very strong singles players. Only need to win 3 of those 4. They have a line 2 singles ringer that beat Myers from Lifetime
ReplyDeleteThere isnt a capt. on here that would trade somabut's record over the last 5 years for there own.
ReplyDeleteNot in Dallas.
ReplyDeleteJeez... this 4.0 blog is boring without Eddie...
ReplyDeleteJeez... this 4.0 blog is boring without Eddie...
ReplyDeleteYou gain the "Anon" back you lose Eddie, you eliminate the Anomymous, you get more and more Eddie. It's really that simple.
ReplyDeletesounds like some sour grapes inside the hp/somebutt team. some of those guys on that team are are way cocky but arent really that good.
ReplyDeletebrouer, ryan, to name some
Ft. Worth had a player, Jeff Renkin, DQ'd but didn't default any of his matches. I think he was a self rate. What gives? I think the USTA is picking on Eddie because he is a Lifetimer.
ReplyDeleteThat is one change I am not a huge fan of, i get they don't want to change outcomes with the dynamic DQ's at playoff level events but I do think self rates should be DQ'ed at a playoff event. It is much like the Flora DQ last year, hey you lose the player but you still win the match. Jeremy Munz is the big ringer on that team and notice he didn't even play but he can just go thru sectionals and drop bagels as long as he wants and he will not have any matches revoked.
ReplyDeleteDoes it matter how a self-rate was DQ'd? For example, if a player lied on their experience when self-rating and was later found out, would one action be taken, and if it were three strikes, would it be a different one?
ReplyDeleteRyan and Broeur aren't really that good? Did you see who won the last Brookhaven tournament? I think Broeur is in the top five players in the state. You guys are funny. What's good then?
ReplyDeleteooo, not the big bad brookhaven tournament. they may be pretty good compared to jason fraser.
ReplyDelete"sounds like some sour grapes inside the hp/somebutt team. some of those guys on that team are are way cocky but arent really that good.
ReplyDeletebrouer, ryan, to name some"
Could not be said any better. They have so many cocky players that are good, but are not ringers. Overrated to be honest!
So they won the Brookhaven tournament with a field of 10 teams, what does that mean?
Is Ryan the guy who looks like Sloth from Goonies????
ReplyDeleteWell, ummm, I don't know about that. But, I think he did play beach volleyball though.
ReplyDeleteSorry Broeur is # 6 in the state. He's only won two majors this year and lost once in the finals. He does suck. Ryan too. I was wrong. What's your record look like?
ReplyDeleteBrouer is a very good doubles player. Ryan's not there at his level.
ReplyDeleteRyan damages more windscreens than anyone I've ever seen......
ReplyDeletenot a word about our 4.0 elite league in the fall. no caps interested?
ReplyDeleteI was in Tyler and saw a guy named Brouer play. He played with Newman not Ryan. I think he lost first round. That guy has actually won a major zone? Are we talking about the same person?
ReplyDeleteDon't think too many Brouers are playing Texas 4.0 tournaments with partners from the HP team ...
ReplyDeletei agree with cary's comment. self rates which pick up their 3rd red flag should be dqed at sectionals and their matches taken away.
ReplyDeletewhy allow the wins of a dqed cheater to stand??? that just penalizes teams which play fairly and rewards teams that cheat. texas usta section has their heads up their butts on this one.
brouer and ryan are both solid players for 4.0
ReplyDeleteYes I agree, but Ryan breaks more strings, rackets and windscreens than Brower so I know Ryan is a better player (trust me, I've seen both play)!!! I think Ryan would be a better fit on another team w/ better partners in doubles(Ryan = no ego and basically good guy). I have no idea why he is wasting his time with those back stabbers. I also think that HP/Somebutt will choke on LTF/Hills big one. Both teams always choke when it comes to the big one but team Hill will win this one. Someone else will put LTF/Hill to shame, maybe HP BUZZIN/TBar or anyone else that makes it that far-they are not that good and VERY BEATABLE.
ReplyDeleteTexas Sexction really sucks _ allowing the wins of DQed players to count at Sectionals. There is no reason for that.
ReplyDeleteBrookhaven put LB Houston down this afternoon, 4 - 1 and won their flight.
ReplyDeleteWhen do we find out about wild cards to Sectionals? We should know that by now.
ReplyDeleteSounds like the Village inch out LB Houston with their win over JCC.
ReplyDeleteLooks like the garland singles guys are trying to stay 4.0 and not get bumped, both throwing the last game of the season?? lol.
ReplyDeleteAs expected!
ReplyDeletePlayoffs and playoff teams have now been determined. And most cities in Texas have already completed their spring leagues. Yes, it would be nice to know if we will send 1 or 2 teams to Sectionals.
ReplyDeleteDid Springpark win?
ReplyDeleteSpring Park won 4-1. How about the Lifetime vs. Oak Creek match? Doesn't really matter, both will be in the QT tournament.
ReplyDeleteLifetime won 4-1
ReplyDeleteI met Sisk the other day at JCC. He is a good guy and not like anything portrayed on this blog. Congratulations on your spring season Captain Sisk. Good luck in the DCC.
ReplyDeleteDallas always gets a wild card in to sectionals. So two teams will go from the cities, one from each flight. Garland's losses means TBar is #1 seed and Garland #2. IF SP and Hp are 3 and 4 HP has to go in Garland's flight if they follow normal seeding. Maybe they just draw.
ReplyDeleteIf the Garland singles players lost to help their ratings, they did a poor job of it. If you get to a 3rd set tiebreaker, win or lose doesn't affect your computer rating for that match
QT
ReplyDeleteHP / Bazan
LBH / Hicks
LTF / Hill
BH / Bartlett
OC / Smith
Five Team Round Robin
DCC
TBM / Martin
GTC / Sisk
BH / Pearlman
Spring Park / Walter
HP / Somabut
QT Winner
Six teams split into two flights
QT Round Robin:
ReplyDelete1 LTF/H
2 HP/B
3 Village/J
4 Oak Creek 1
5 BH/B
DCC Brackets:
1 TBM / Martin +
4 BH / Pearlman +
QT Winner (likely LTF)
2 GTC / Sisk +
3 Spring Park / Walter +
Fall HP / Somabut
wow . . . spring park, gtc and hp all in the same bracket. too bad for spring park and gtc.
ReplyDeletewhat happened to your secret, Cary?
ReplyDeletewould have been a smart move for Garland to lose, cause they would have moved out of the #1 seed and out of HP and LTF draw.
ReplyDeleteThey really shouldn't have thrown their match, so much as put a couple of scrubs out there. funny thing, is Stonebridge defaulted 2 lines so, GTC pretty much had no way to lose this even though they wanted to. that is funny!!!!
Come on though. Next time, throw scrubs out there. tank job was a little obvious. Can't stand tank jobs.
Actually, they still gave up #1 seed by 2 sets. So, tank job worked.
ReplyDeleteLB Houston (Flight C) really fell apart towards the end of the season. They just missed it by a few sets.
ReplyDeleteyep no secret occured, Shannon Grant stayed on the bench. I thought he was in jeopardy although he still must be careful as do a few Lifetimers. No during playoff DQ's but you can lose them after the events.
ReplyDeleteMy Village pick finally paid off, and LBH just missing was a little surprising but losing Ratana and Walker is hard to recover from and they still did pretty well finishing in 3rd.
Only problem is I think the Village is dangerous and we have to play them, don't overlook these guys they are good.
QT will be tough from top to bottom.
curious to see brackets soon and I am not a professional at the seeding of the DCC but I think once we know the QT winner then maybe we can figure it out or maybe you all are smart enough already.
Per Jane, bracket winners are seeded 1-4 by record, then split 1+4, 2+3. HP and QT winner opposite their bracket winners. So TBM+BH+QT and GTC+SP+HP.
ReplyDeleteWhat if someone fron the Brookhaven or Tbar division wins QT? Then your formula will not work.
ReplyDeleteThis is why you need a round robin. It looks like the 3 best teams could end up in the same group.
ReplyDeleteGTC may have screwed themselves. They would have it easier as 1 seed.
ReplyDelete3:18, no TBM bracket team in QT. Only if V/J wins QT will a double conflict exist, with both HP/S and V/J conflicted with TBM or BH/P. HP/S the bigger conflict so they move over.
ReplyDeleteI don't think anybody is going to get all the way to a third-set tiebreak and lose on purpose in 100-degree weather. If you tank, you lose 2 and 2 or something, i.e. Noaman and Kent.
ReplyDeleteWTF ???
ReplyDeleteTrue Coredawg,
ReplyDeleteIt looks like Kent improved his doubles alot since last Fall. Won at line #1 Doubles yesterday with a patrner not as strong as Noaman. Must be the the doubles drills cary puts them through.
our playoff structure for level 4.0 does suck.
ReplyDeleteNice job to lifetime last week, looks like the team carried Eddie again. Eddie, you lost to that guy? Tank job??? What gives? I thought you were in great shape and loved the heat? I guess not... you better hit the treadmill before the QT.
ReplyDeleteCoredawg. Sometimes silence is golden. Don't rattle me up please.
ReplyDeleteThe singles guys go (1)undefeated all year, but then lose the (2)final match of the year against a (3) barely 500 team that (4)defaults 2 full lines - (5) where GTC losing is very advantageous to them.
And somehow, not one, but (6) both singles lines lose? BTW - Look at the set scores.
If this was a crime scene, they did everything but sign their names at the crime scene in blood.
It is not necessarily what he did, but how he did it. That is the frustrating part.
Sisk is a scumbag but tanking is something you can never prove.
ReplyDeleteMichael Sean Davis beats Jerry Defeo....come on now John, Michael is a nice guy and all, but no way does he ever beat Jerry.
ReplyDeleteMike is very tough and a nice guy. He has an awkward style and from afar he doesn't look like much but he can put away a ball easily when he gets chance and is very quick and has a long reach. I did see him wilt in the heat v. Victor but if he was in a good shape v. Jerry I see no reason he couldn't have hung tough with him and in a 3rd set TB anything can happen.
ReplyDeleteI've never seen nor met Mike Davis play, but here are some valid points.
ReplyDeleteAs Cary said, 3rd set TB, anything can happen. It's not a true measure, but it's what we have.
Everybody, and I mean everybody, can have an off day. Contrary, everybody can have a killer day. When those two types meet, it spells upset.
Not comparing, but is Soderling better than Nadal? He beat him in the French? Exactly my point. 5 times they play and Nadal wins every time. But not that time.
"tanking is something you can never prove"
ReplyDeleteI guess you have never done jury duty before. Its never cut and dried easy, but guilty decisions are reached every day.
I see 6 (really 7) reasons on why it was a tank job. You can't ever "prove it" Cause you will never be able to see into the mind of Jerry, Andrew and Sisk. I guess if this was a Tom Cruise movie we could just check the 3rd ball in the Minority Report.
ReplyDeleteThe scarey thing is John hasn't even tipped off his true playoff hand yet.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure everyone is waiting for that...
ReplyDeleteIt is no secret, Cary tried to snuff it out early but O'Bannon will beat anyone in 4.0 playoffs easily at singles. Defeo will most likely move to doubles.
ReplyDeleteThe secret that most don't know is that Andy is easy to beat, just get in his head and play slow ball. Ahner kicked his a**.
I don't think HP is too worried about GTC. They would have to sweep singles to have a chance against HP.
ReplyDeleteI agree I doubt they are worried about us but I guarantee we will be up 2-0 on singles so we hope we can get a doubles match to take them out.
ReplyDeleteI don't see a doubles line you can win.
ReplyDeleteDon't be so confident about singles either. Featherstone is good!
ReplyDeleteWhen do the QT flights actually get posted?
ReplyDeletequote anon @ 10:19am
ReplyDelete"The secret that most don't know is that Andy is easy to beat, just get in his head and play slow ball. Ahner kicked his a**."
lol the only guy in 15 games to even take a set off Andy and I wonder why??? Try a semi-torn patela tendon from playing and winning the tournament the weekend earlier, and was barley able to move. Ask any of his opponents after and including Ahner about the taped up knee and knee brace worn in that match and every match after up untill last week.
That said he still won every match after that as his knee got better, and now is from what I understand back to 100% and no longer wearing the brace.
lol...I think Sisk should just defult his singles line in the playoffs because he has no chance to win... LMAO.
I talked to Jerry on Sunday, which is more than anybody else on this blog can say. That's why I spoke up. There is no doubt in my mind that Jerry's loss was legitimate. I haven't spoken to Andy but I know he is very proud of his record in league and tournaments so I seriously doubt he would go out and lose on purpose. My guess is that the heat became unbearable and the match was already clinched so why stay out there and get hurt?
ReplyDeleteSisk cheats in every bracket he captains. Look at his 4.0 and 3.5 teams and you see the same cheating patterns on scores, self rated rosters, etc. How does anyone respect this guy? He gives our area a bad name. Usta/DTA, if you read this, do something about this guy. It's getting absurd and the Usta/DTA looks stupid by letting this guy continue to cheat.
ReplyDeleteDon't worry his 4.0 team will get squashed in the city playoffs. They would be better off playing 3.5.
ReplyDeleteNEWSFLASH..........Somabuts team is still the team to beat!! Anons kill me, Bob has owned 4.0 in Dallas for how long????? If we get beat,we get beat. Life goes on!! We will be there to play and do our best to win, that's all we can do.
ReplyDeleteThe Fort Worth 4.0 team is scary good. Somebut, Sisk and Lifetime not in there league. Not even close.
ReplyDeleteSomabut's team is over-rated. John you can beat those guys this year!
ReplyDeleteanon 6:26 pm
ReplyDeleteU are really pathetic. U need professional help! I hope you can find a good shrink.
I am not on Somabut team, but I can tell you this team is far from over rated. Even if they lose both singles lines, I don't see how they drop any doubles lines in DCC.
ReplyDeleteQT schedule is out, I will post something later this week
ReplyDeleteAnon 6:26 is right. The handful of Sisk supporters are just showing their ignorance.
ReplyDeleteSisk just technically bends the USTA rules as far as he can. Man to man, we all know it's bull shit and cheating. That's why he loses respect.
ReplyDeleteSee you a week from Sunday at 3pm big fella. Expect to go down 4-1 or 5-0
ReplyDeleteGuess Who???
We need a 4.0 playoff thread please.
ReplyDeleteSo it is you whiney LTF'ers that are always bitching about new threads.
ReplyDeleteI will get you one but you all will wear it out by tomorrow afternoon, so be patient.
Eddie and Y,
Just make sure you all are undefeated by Sunday so it will be interesting for us.
Cary I know you do not want to play me:)
ReplyDelete#Y-
ReplyDeleteI will see you at line 4 doubles
"#Y-
ReplyDeleteI will see you at line 4 doubles"
So I am guessing that means you are not playing.
We won't set that lineup until Sunday AM so ask me then.
ReplyDeleteJust make sure you all have 8 players I know you have some guys who wilt in the heat. :)
If I play Eddie I will give him a set and 1-5 just so it can be a level playing field. :)))))))
"If I play Eddie I will give him a set and 1-5 just so it can be a level playing field. :)))))))"
ReplyDeleteI just sensed a disturbance in the FORCE!!!!!!
Mannnn its hard to find this thread. I have to scroll down 2 3.5s and 2 4.5 threads to get here. I think I got carpal finger.
ReplyDeletecary,
ReplyDeleteBe careful what you wish for. the only problem for you is that you can't even beat Oak Creek. You will be lucky to be 2-1 by the time you see LTF. LTF will not drop more than 3 lines for the entire weekend.
"I know you have some guys who wilt in the heat."
ReplyDeleteThat's a low blow Cary, albeit justifiable :)
Will everyone on your team get matching pirate bandanas for our match?
HA! Sorry Brandon, gotta pick on the big giant in the league before you leave us to go to 4.5.
ReplyDeleteI truly don't wish anyone bad health in the heat, I played twice two weeks ago and I didn't want to get up on Monday morning.
I am glad our doubleheader is on Sunday so we can hit the pool and be done with it by then.
You won't even be in it by then.....see you!
ReplyDelete
