Oak Creek/Sweeney cruises 4-1 over TBar/Fikes with Fikes and Pascal pulling out a third set tie breaker to keep from being swept.
Lifetime/Arcaria sweeps Greenhill/Rossouw with Rossouw defaulting two lines. He has 21 people on the roster and he defaulted two lines? Rossouw's playoff chances are all but done at this point.
In a Brookhaven intra-club challenge, Bartlett's team took down Harllee's team 3-2. That was a big win for Bartlett, moving his guys into third and dropped Harllee into fourth and in danger of missing the playoffs.
High Point/Martin lost to JCC/Reiman 3-2 and likely took itself out of the playoff hunt as well.
Reiman even pulls out a third set tie breaker himself at line three doubles to secure the victory.
And in the battle for the basement, previously winless Greenhill/Ohl edged Gleneagles/Juhn 3-2 to pass them in the standings based on lines. Ohl's guys sweep singles and in what is becoming a trend, another captain wins a big match and clinches the victory.
In other news, 55s has now wrapped up as well.
9.0 finished as follows: Oak Creek/Sweeney,
Brookhaven/Bartlett, Gleneagles/Juhn, TBar/Hackett, John Paul II/Gradick and
Eldorado/Entrekin.
8.0 finished as follows: Greenhill/Kayser, Springpark/Blesi,
Brookhaven/Bartlett, Lifetime/Heflin, Canyon Creek/Rainwater, TBar/Snow,
Brookhaven/Tarangioli, Stonebridge/Cummings and High Point/Meyers.
So far it looks like Sweeney and Bartlett are having good
senior seasons.
Sweeney - Captain of The Year
ReplyDeleteSweeney is a lot like Popovich, the players may change but he just keeps on winning...
ReplyDeleteUntil it comes to winning sectionals. But no doubt a great local league captain
ReplyDeleteHow does Alan have 4 2016 National Texas 8.0 mixed players on his 2017 team? What is the rule there?
ReplyDeleteThey only had 3. What 4 r you talking about?
DeleteHe is the man!!! My question is how many times have Kelly and Davis played sectionals? This is outrageous! Davis playing again and Kelly drops 10 games in 4 matches?????? WTF
ReplyDeleteWho any good did he play? No one. 8.0 a joke!
DeleteKelly lost in finals?
ReplyDeleteNo, Kelley was winning up a set and a break but retired after his team won
Delete8.0 a joke? Did u play? Even Gene Davis dropped a match. Can you beat him???? The team he lost to lost a match to Donnie Pollard. Can you beat him? Try it and see how tough it is. Stick w 7.0
ReplyDeleteAgreed, Donnie Polard and his partner were very, very tough team. I think they went undefeated.
Deletethey sux
Deletejust joking, yes they were solid.
DeleteDear Alan,
ReplyDeleteCould you please allow someone else to enjoy going to sectionals? This is getting ridiculous. I have been playing 12 years now and have yet to beat an SP TEAM. Now you had TWO in the 8.0 finals? What gives? Please let me know where to contact you so that I may cement a roster spot for 2018. I hear in 2019 they will just pick a team to represent Dallas in sectionals, no league, no pilot tourney. SP will get one ping pong ball and all others get 1 milllion. The drawing will take place in a covert location. The winning captain will be notified who goes to sectional. In the meantime I will sign up for drills and events at your club. I hear the instruction and the fees are the best in town.
thank you
DH
I'm done.
ReplyDeleteGOOD! If Alan done then his biatch slave Kelley will be done. Over last 7-10 years their domination has prevailed. As a captain AA is second to none. He develops talent like no other. MK is the best at his craft and somehow defys the odds, the haters and the DTA. I don't like either but their success numbers are sick. Don't think you will see this type of winning percentage again in a lifetime. I think the "powers that be" will be glad to see them go. Springpark has become a fixture of mixed superiority. As far as longevity, like em or hate em, there will never be another dynasty like the one in Richardson. Thanks guys but as a club player wanting just one sectional appearance "I will be glad to see ya go!". Again, thank you AA for the memories but there is a new Sheriff in town. You guys are done! ..... oooops. I said that this year, last year, year before that, year before the year before that... uh I mean it this time ALAN A!
ReplyDeletedevelops talent?? LOL
DeleteMy question is why is there not a "country club" league and a "city park" mixed league? Seems like each could send a team to sectionals and everyone is happy. Why has no one ever mentioned this? I have NEVER seen it even considered. You could easily have 5-7 teams in each league and prolly more with the clubbers because SP couldn't play so more people would feel they have a chance. Seems like a no brainer.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! Worst idea yet
DeleteNo, kinda like perrenial winners vs perennial losers
DeleteROFLMAO!!!!
DeleteWhy isn't there a competitive advancing league and a fun non advancing social league. This way people wouldn't get so butt hurt and just play for fun.
ReplyDeleteThere is. It's called USTA and TCD. People are still complaining in the social league.
Delete10:25 that is a great idea. That should be brought to the DTA's attention.
ReplyDeleteCould you then play a Dallas social league and a competetive FW league in same flight? Could you just have a members only, Dallas, non competitive social league? Or how about a Dallas, competetive, non social league, where practice and lessons and going to the gym and eating right makes a difference. Nah, that wouldn't be fair to those that pay big money to join a country club. Nah, Best thing is to make up rules, nationals split up, etc. and bogus suspensions to even all out. Hmmm, still doesn't work. Let me ponder on this awhile. Will get back to ya'.
ReplyDeleteHere are some bigger questions. 1. Will the Springpark B Team get offered a wildcard? 2. Had Brookhaven of finished second would they have been offered the wildcard?
DeleteAnswers:
1. Hell no
2. Absolutely yes
yes SP will get a wild card
