4.5+ over 40 - this will be an all Sunday affair. Brookhaven/Bartlett plays Lifetime/Arcaria at
9:00am and the winner plays Oak Creek/Sweeney at noon. And did I mention there is now a 100% chance
of rain on Sunday? Good thing there
aren't a lot of matches. Never more than
in these "plus" leagues is availability more important. Sure, in your 4.0 league you have some
players better than others but in this flight the difference in a top end 5.0
and a good 4.5 is huge. Of course the
first problem is actually having a top end 5.0.
There are a couple out there and if they are or aren't available they
can make all the difference. Sweeney
proved he had the deepest team only losing one match while the other two
playoff contenders lost three apiece.
Depth is now less of an issue. How
good are your top six - not eight through twelve - becomes much more important.
4.0 over 40 - this is the most wide open city playoff at
this level I've ever seen. 40s has been
around for a few years now and while there have been some good 4.0 teams each
year, this is the most balanced year for the playoff contenders that I've
seen. That may be because Dallas just
doesn't have a dominant team this year, or possibly several teams or good (we
won't really know until sectionals), but it should be a wide open event. These guys are playing a round robin over
Friday and Saturday, with the seeds listed as: 1) Oak Creek/Ramasami, 2)
Springpark/Walters, 3) Canyon Creek/Patterson and 4) Huffhines/Clark.
Just to reacap: 9.0 55s was won by Oak Creek/Sweeney going
away and 8.0 55s was won by Greenhill/Kayser in a three team playoff.
Good luck to everyone this weekend.
When will the DTA figure out how to enter playoff scores in when matches are played at Canyon Creek?
ReplyDeleteThey are in if still curious. Looks like the seeds mean nothing.
ReplyDeleteEveryone starts even in the playoffs
DeleteKC does it again...4.0 40+...was it even close?
ReplyDeleteSweeney takes 4.5. He's a machine.
ReplyDeleteWho cares about 40 and older tennis
ReplyDeleteYou. Soon enough.
ReplyDeleteAnd the winners for 40s playoffs are:
ReplyDelete4.5+ is Oak Creek/Sweeney - they only had to play one match but they powered through the regular season and had three lines firmly in hand in the final.
4.0 is Huffhines/Clark - they stumbled in the regular season but were carried by their singles in the playoffs.
3.5 is High Point/Thorat - don't know who these guys are but they obliterated everyone in the regular season and the playoffs.
3.0 is RGAF/Fitzgerald - I just threw this in because Rockwall won something.
I'll start looking through the 18s rosters and try to have something out in about a week or so.
ReplyDeleteLooks like Raja's boys out of Garland the team to beat.
DeleteYou r kidding right????

So not much about SpringPark winning 8.0, again? Finished in first and second and keeping all "big clubs" from going to sectionals again. They also won 7.0. Mark my words, next year they sweep 7.0, 8.0, and 9.0 at the old f#{+ divisions.
ReplyDeleteMK
And why would this be news? It happens every year. However, if Brokehaven, Cantyon Crook or Greenoverthehill won this blog would have gone crazy with delight! Oh well, maybe next year.
DeleteMK
They need to do a 6.0 but Alzero has that locked down. Nobody does 6.0 like Alzero!

I made my money in cosmetics and my agents drive pink Cadillacs. Who am I?

DTA schedules matches on Mother's Day. LOL
ReplyDeleteThey have really become clueless. Anyone married with kids will definitely be unavailable on Sunday.
DTA says no exceptions since Hookhaven kids don't want to be near their mom's on any day.
DeleteNeither do canyon crook kids
DeleteOMG! Buddy Jordan must be a SOLID 4.0!
ReplyDeleteHUH?????
ReplyDeleteit's time to post something about spring leagues. Season almost half over. GET WITH IT!!!!
ReplyDeleteSomabutt and tbarm whipped Raja's 4.5 team. That was kind of a surprise
ReplyDeleteU r kidding right???????
ReplyDeleteRaja 4.5 wants to be Raja 4.0. He's the new tanker of the year.
ReplyDeleteRaija is a 4.5? No wonder he is losing.
ReplyDeleteTanking is all over the place this Spring
ReplyDeleteTony Le
Mike Kelly
Ryan Delapaz
Pat Teterud (not sure why, he doesn't need to)
Rajiv Kommineni
Raja Kanchi
Mike Zachary
Sam Huynh
Joshua Rivera
Victor Tran
Kazuo Yoshida
Krystyan Lazarin
Hai Nguyen
Interesting. Keep an eye on how many from this list end up on a Kanchi or Sisk 4.0 team next spring
DeleteA couple on that list are 4.0's that don't need to. They are not going to win at that level and frankly are low 4.0s. Tetrude, Lazarus, Zackary, Kanchi, Le. A couple of these guys would struggle at 4.0 sectionals. Sisk would love to have Le and Delapaz at 4.0 for Garland
ReplyDeleteBaiters & haters.
