101, 101, 102, must be city playoffs

Just a quick update on the festivities this weekend so far.

4.5 - Reiman had an impressive 4-1 win over Harllee, taking three of the four lines with relative ease.  As long as that massive roster doesn't confuse the lineups he's looking good.   In the other match Herget-Loose dropped Noel's squad 4-1 as well but two third set tie breakers that both went HL's way were the difference.  Reiman and HL don't square off until Sunday so today both should roll again.

4.0 - On one half of the draw the HighPoint team rolled to a 5-0 sweep of Brookhaven.  Three of the lines were blowouts so this was never in doubt.  Oak Creek may be able to take out Brookhaven this morning but then to have to turn around and play High Point a couple of hours later is too much to expect.

On the other half of the 4.0 draw the magical mystery tour continues for Oasis as they took down Garland in a tight 3-2 match.  That probably lands Oasis in sectionals one way or the other.

3.5 - McKinney is still undefeated on the season and they rolled last night to a 4-1 win over Oak Creek.  QT winner Fretz swept LB Houston setting up a battle of 1-0 teams today.

Give us some updates on today's matches if you head to the courts.  I may try some Wii tennis in the air conditioning instead.  I've never seen a better swinging volley than those little guys have.

    2. Does anyone know the last time Sisk won anything? Guy gets lots of Fred for losing to a couple of nobody teams.

  2. Extremely high quality tennis in the 5.0+ city finals. Good luck to those of you bumped up from 4.5....

    1. The better (and older) you get the harder it is to keep improving. It's not uncommon for someone bumped from 3.5 to reach a high 4.0 level in a couple of years. Likewise there are a handful of guys that played multiple years at 4.0 and are now high level 4.5s (although tanking to stay 4.0 is the easier route). 5.0 is different. I've not seen any legitimate multi-year 4.5 player improve enough to compete with these ex D1 and pro players at the top of 5.0.

    3. You called 4.5, 4.0, 3.5 and 3.0. Impressive.

  3. extremely low quality 4.0 city finals. good luck to the 4.5's that tanked down or self rated.

    1. With no wildcard, at least the finals will be interesting.

    2. Won't be interesting. High Point wins 5-0.

    3. Looks like Tony Le finally sent Oasis home.

  4. 5-0. What a blowout. Tony damn good captain and that is a dominating effort. i applaud his hard work and dedication no matter what the idiots say. Tony! Tony! Tony!

  5. Hard work. He just made phone calls and convinced people to tank or outright lie on self rating.

  7. then why on earth would you even be concerned about Le. At leat until you lose to him. But you are prob playing 4.5 or 5.0 since you are so good?

    1. No concern, but just tired of people stroking the ego of someone that cheat to win at any level. My ft wroth team will beats him in sectionals. Period

    2. I not concern with Lee. Period. I had nuthin do do other than call Reid and tattel on 3 player only. That the twuth. I never file greevance I just tell todd not fair because Lee didant want me. That the truf. Peeriod. And for what it wroth that the truf. Peeriod.

  8. yes. My 4.5 team advanced. 4.0 is a joke and not even sure why you even care. You are a step away from 3.5.

    1. Hope all the haters take that. Bring on Freeman.

    2. Absolutely. Those wishing for us to lose can screw it. Le train is just getting started. And with Sam Hyunh at 4.0 next year we will do the same again!

    3. If Le is so awesome, he will make nationals and can't do it again next year.

  9. Interesting that Reiman won 2 matches 3-2 playing what appears to be an illegal self-rate.

      Tristan Stitt

HARRISONBURG, Va. – Head Coach Steve Secord has added Tristan Stitt to the James Madison men's tennis roster.

An incoming freshman, Stitt is a three-star recruit from Dallas, Texas. The Tennis Recruiting Network recently ranked him as the 30th-best recruit in Texas and 33rd-best recruit in the Gulf States. He played at the No. 1 doubles position as a junior and senior as well as the No. 1 singles position as a senior at Highland Park High School.

"We are excited that Tristan will be joining our program this fall," Secord said. "He has the size and ability to be a solid doubles player and is going to improve a great deal during the fall tournaments on the singles court."

Stitt played three championship seasons under the guidance of the Scots' Dan Holden. As a junior (2013-14), he went undefeated on the season and clinched the 10th match at the state championship event to secure the title for Highland Park. He was team captain his senior season as the Scots won their third consecutive state team title and their first at the 6A level of Texas' University Interscholastic League (UIL). The recently-created UIL is the largest high school athletic division in Texas.

In addition to the state team titles, Stitt won the father/son doubles division of the 2013 National Family Tennis Championships in New York City alongside his father, Jon.

"Tristan is an athletic player and loves to compete," Secord added. "I'm looking for Tristan to push his teammates every day in training, both on and off the court. I know he is ready to get to campus and get his collegiate career started."

An Advanced Placement Scholar with Honors, Stitt plans to study marketing at JMU.

  11. It wont matter. Mabe and Feldman as your singles players? That is a flat out joke.

    1. Joke is a lot funnier when they are someone else's singles players. They wouldn't start for Tony Le.

  12. So I noticed one of the guys for Oasis went 7-0 in their flight and then played two playoff matches and lost both of them 6-0, 6-0. Exactly how bad was the flight that Oasis won?

  13. No new information on Tristan here. And he didn't play all playoffs which is why JCC was vulnerable. They will need him at Sectionals. Very competitive singles matches all weekend in 4.5, with the exception of my terrible performance Friday night. Good luck to all the Dallas teams at Sectionals.

    1. Tristan isn't a self-rate, but Reiman does have one.

    2. Are we talking about the Ronnie Tuttle in Frisco that was a 5.0 or the Ronnie Tuttle in Dallas that is a 4.5 Self Rate?

      Delete
  14. If someone is complaining about Ronnie's legitimacy as a 4.5 that's pretty funny.

    1. What's funny is thinking that legitimacy to play 4.5 has anything to do with skill.

    2. Most people have problems with getting new USTA numbers so they can self rate at a different level.
