The Biggest Loser Winners are...
Here are the before and after pictures of the winners. All of the hard work paid off and now they get to prove themselves in city playoffs with a chance to make it to sectionals.
At 4.5, Lakes/Way took out Brookhave/Goswami in flight play. Tridib was missing some players Friday night and even had to default a line. Ron Way always has a good team but so often comes up just a little short. He has enough to be formidable next week. His guys had a pretty easy time with Brookhaven/Harllee. The Fankhouser v. Loesberg line 1 match didn't feel like a 4.5 line 1 but it counts as one line.
Reiman is still the favorite but so many of his players are on Pickett's Fort Worth team and many played in the playoffs. I think Reiman still wins. It will come down to which players are available. Ask Tridib...
At 4.0:
Apparently, there are two flights with both going to cities in 4.0. I did not know that as I was waiting for the finals to get posted. I have never seen that.
Red Flight had Oak Creek/Rich winning. Most believe this was the easier flight. On the previous thread it was asked how well they would do in the blue flight and someone commented 0-3. I can't say I know much about the flight but that may be true. Regardless, they are in city playoffs.
Blue Flight was the most talked about and Canyon Creek went through the very difficult flight. They beat three teams that are full of players that have been to cities/sectionals at their level. I thought they were due as they have been close.
My very early pick for 4.0 champion is Somabut but that might change when the final schedules are released.

Lakes has solid doubles but Le and possibly Welwood have to get involved in singles for them to have a chance next weekend.
ReplyDeleteThe lakes won? Wow, who is good on their team?
ReplyDeleteOberg, Pollock, Le, Richardson. They have some good players.
DeleteWho knows who Reiman has available? His best win easily but many of them are Pickett's.
ReplyDeleteMany?? I see 2.
DeleteI am a 4.0 but I pick whoever Kellye play for bec u just have to win 2 of the other 4 lines.
ReplyDeleteHow will the DTA seed Cities? 1-4-6 2-3-5 1-4-5 2-3-6?? Any good guesses?
ReplyDeleteProbably put the best teams in one flight and the mediocre ones in the other flight.
DeleteLooks like they aren't playing the event. They wanted the schedule out today. EPIC FAIL. We've come to expect that from the DTA
DeleteMidseason ratings should be out any day.
ReplyDeleteThey'll be out tomorrow ...
ReplyDeleteSo as far as 4.0 seeding, is it 1. Somabut, 2. Clark, 3. Village, 4.Brookhaven, 5. CC, 6. Oak Creek ?
ReplyDeleteBlue-High Point, Brookhaven, CC
DeleteRed-Fretz, Village, Oak Creek
Fretz d. HP in the finals
Looks like a cool front is coming in this week. It might be all of 90 this weekend.
ReplyDeleteI think Kelly requested that for his FW matches
DeleteSpeaking of Clark, saw him roaming around the 4.0 QT's over the weekend, not sure if he was doing more scouting or more recruiting. Anyhow, my pick for this weekend now that we are out is def Somabut.
ReplyDeleteI was out supporting my friends from GTC. Evidently I didn't help them much. I pick Somabut too.
DeleteKeith Clark
Scouting?? Nobody could help Clarks team from qualifying tournament. Lol
ReplyDeleteDifferent type of scouting......who's playing what lineup against what opponent, what shots are effective against which players, etc......Clark's superior tennis brain is doing all the math and then he works it all into sign language that Zachary and crew can comprehend.
DeleteHuff has a Fort Worth major zone mixed doubles match at 5pm on Friday? Hope Canyon Creek doesn't get the 6pm Friday match.
ReplyDeleteI thought Joel was swearing off mixed for a while?
DeleteI expect to see a withdrawal from the Ft Worth tourney shortly
DeleteZachary playing ftw as well. Why do they always have a major zone the same weekend?
DeleteFort Worth holds their major zone the same weekend as Dallas city playoffs every year. Its so FW players have a better chance of winning something.
DeleteThere are several people playing in the FW major zone that could have been at cities and some that are playing at cities. Wonder how that works?
ReplyDeleteReally curious to see how Rossouw handles his lineups at cities. And whether he can actually keep from playing himself. A lot of near misses through the years but not making sectionals at all would be a big disappointment.
ReplyDeleteAre schedules out for city playoffs?
ReplyDeletenothing yet
DeleteWhy does eveybody keep picking Somabut when Clark clearly has the better team if you break it down man to man.
ReplyDeleteVinh tran is the best player in the league.
DeleteSo one guy makes the team unbeatable?
DeleteHas anyone seen the ft worth mixed draw. VERY interesting team in 4.5 that will be a scary opponent. Kelly is playing w a 3.5 and on a collision course w Vince Kingsley ( his doubles partner in men's) and Lynn Pham. That my friends will be worth the price of admission. If an 8.0 team wins a round in effectively 9.0 that would be something.
ReplyDeleteAnyone have a guess as to who wins that match? Kelly took apart Drew Casper ( very, very solid player) yesterday in ft worth mixed match and is basically owning the ft worth league as well. Kelly also dismantled Shawn Wooley and a solid female partner.
DeleteIf he is playing two events in the heat he will be ineffective. No way he carries Vince and a 3.5 thru a tourney. A 5.5 couldn't do that.
ReplyDeleteCould be interesting. Lynn is no average 4.5 girl. She definitely volleys better than Vince.
DeleteReturns better too.
DeleteExactly. No way does Kelly and a 3.5 beat Vince and a 4.5. Now if Kelly was playing w a solid 4.5 that match lasts about 30 minutes.... But he is not quick enuff to cover for a person two levels lower than the female counterpart.
ReplyDeleteKelley an idiot! Who does he think he is playing 4.5 w a 3.5? He should have been barred from entering. At least he should have only been allowed to enter w a 4.0. If I was their opponent in first round and paid $74 to play an 8.0 team I would ask for money back.
ReplyDeletePhy did it in 08. Made it to the finals before losing 6-4 in the 3rd. We'll see how Kelly stacks up.
DeleteLooking at this objectively bec Kelley would not be on my Xmas list.. But in my opinion Kelly is the best 4.5 mixed player in the united states. If anyone can do it he can. Agree w above poster, him and a 4.5 walk thru the tourney. Him and a 3.5 will be very interesting.
DeleteSome tourney rules state you can only be a half level lower to enter a doubles tourney that is a levels tourney. For instance if playing in a 4.5 tourney a player must be a 4,0 at least. Either way I don't think his opponents in first round know what they are in for. On paper they should win but playing Kelley fresh will be no cakewalk .
ReplyDeletewhat good players are in the Ft. Worth major zone that would play in cities?
ReplyDeleteWhy is there no schedule. I thought the point of the double default threat was to make sure we got schedules today .
DeleteBallsy move to play w 3.5. Give him credit.
ReplyDeleteAlan or Pickett can tell you what it tastes like if you really want to know.
ReplyDeleteClassy bloggers. Dallas fails miserably in blogging as well as winning. Gee, wonder why.
ReplyDeleteNo doubly. No wonder we are looked at as a joke. Classless and jealous.
ReplyDeleteWhat is going on with the schedules?
ReplyDeleteIf the DTA hasn't sent it you, they are trying to keep you from playing.
DeleteCan Kelly pull a double and win 4.5 men's and 4.5 mixed in FW?
ReplyDeleteRatings out today?
ReplyDeleteDont think he can. He plays at such an energetic level that he will be gassed. Both his partners would need to be stronger to do so. Gets to finals of mixed and semis in men's and after 6 matches in two days the tank runs out.
ReplyDeleteRatings are out! There are some unbelievable results!
ReplyDeleteLink?
DeleteThat link didn't work. Interesting that it has "screwjob" in it. Wait, are you being funny?
ReplyDeleteCan't believe Kelly is 4.0. Wow!!!
ReplyDeleteNope. That is the linked I hacked into that shows what the DTA wants you to be. Not official but what they pushed for. Interestingly all their "peeps" moved down a level and any threats to them moved up.
ReplyDeleteScrewjob link had him as 5.5. Appellate court moved him to 5.0. His national appeal got him to 4.5 and his TLR is 4.0. Pick one.
ReplyDeleteIt's official, Le's a 4.0:

Congrats Tony. It takes serious dedication to go up and down every other season. Give the man some credit.
ReplyDeletethis has some messed up ratings.
