...and so it begins again.....can't have a single thread started without Mike jumping on and commenting about himself. Prior thread posters were correct about the irrelevancy of this blog. Certainly the inappropriate and childish comments are bad enough, but when 99% of the posts are by one guy about one guy...we'll what's the point. I thought we had city championships to be discussed.
4.5: Reiman 2 and 1; Rossouw 2 and 1, Reiman wins on tie-breaks 4.0: Somabut and Clark in finals, Clark wins because he's got Jacob Smith and Austin Todd to play singles (both easily belong at 4.5), and can play Zachary at doubles with Cope.
All predictions are worthless because no one knows which players will actually be available for a given match. I've never had a single team where everyone has been available for the playoffs. No matter how much notice you give them.
Can anyone explain what mid season ratings are good for other than to let the cheaters know that they need to continue tanking? Seriously, it's a joke, they mean nothing.
Congrats to Dallas's biggest tankers! Looks like all that "lack of effort" and clearly doubles players playing singles "for the expirence" paid off. Here are a few of the winners er I mean losers! Tony Le 4.0, Glen Flora 3.5, Dela Paz 4.0, Shyh-Chin Lee 4.0, Steven Nguyn 4.0, Arcaria 4.0, Hai Nguyen 4.0, Greg Wiley 3.5 and last but not least Bo McNurlen and the Great Bob Bender 3.0! Way to waist everybody's time that you guys played in the last couple of season's, I hope it pays off for you on your never ending quest to go to Nationals!
think we've reached the point where if you're anywhere close to the top of your level, and you don't tank at least a couple of matches.....it's a good bet you're going to get bumped
Yeah, I love hearing the whining when people say.. I got bumped down and the computer put me right back up. It works the other way too but they don't complain about it.
How do I appeal my rating down? This process is completely automated and you will get an instant result message.
Log into YOUR TENNISLINK ACCOUNT. Click 'register' for a team. Put in your USTA number along with the team numbers below:
8096989721 for women 8096989722 for men
Click continue. A result message will appear.
You will get a note that your rating is too high for the team entered and you will see the option to appeal your rating. When you do appeal, the system will immediately determine whether you are within the parameters to receive an appeal. If your appeal is granted, it will be automatically and immediately changed. If denied, then your appeal cannot be granted. There is no appeal fee or deadline.
If I am huff and debating about playing mixed in FW tourney or men's fri nite I would play mixed. Zackary has already beaten him like a rented mule and will do it again.
So what is worse? Appealing your rating to get back down? Or sandbagging a whole season to get down?
To appeal - you have to be on the cusp of the new rating to get back down, so not really doing something that is "cheating" the system.
Sandbagging on the other hand - you have some guys that were pretty solid 4.5s just work their way to 4.0 and will be playing guys that were recently just 3.5s.
Where did Kelly land? The world is waiting bec he is the Lebron of free agency.
ReplyDeletePut it this way, he and Flora could play 8.0.
ReplyDeleteHe is really 4.0?
DeleteFlora 3.5
DeleteFlora a 3.5???? How is that even possible? Did he appeal up?

ReplyDeleteAll mid-year ratings do is determine what level you will play at on a fall team. And the fall is irrelevant anyway.
DeleteWho is tanking? Names?
ReplyDeleteIf you don't know you are too far out of the loop to help.

ReplyDeleteSteve Nguyen got bumped UP to 4.0 bonehead
DeleteWow...Hai down to 4.0. He's had great results at 4.5 sectionals 2-3 years ago.
DeleteHai is a better doubles player than 75% of the guys that got bumped from 4.5 to 5.0.
DeleteDont forget Rene Cuevas 4.0
ReplyDeleteman only half way thru list and lots of staples at 4.5 bumped to 5.0 across the state. Very interesting

ReplyDeleteLooks like the USTA is trying to finally create a viable 5.0 league. So often, it was the deathknell of your playing.
ReplyDeleteAs Murray said, 75% of these people will be right back where they started at year end.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I love hearing the whining when people say.. I got bumped down and the computer put me right back up. It works the other way too but they don't complain about it.
DeleteI will be making a Cities Preview if/when the DTA publishes the flights. If someone already has them, feel free to tell me the flights/schedules.
ReplyDeleteI just looked at the mid-season ratings and saw a larger number of 5s (in the first number) than years past. Thought that was interesting.
Thanks
Schedules are out.

So, who really is the p*ssy???
You are for appealing, we already know the tankers are pussies of the highest order
DeleteHow do I appeal up?
ReplyDeleteYou actually can appeal up.
DeleteYou'll need to wipe the dust of the appeal up button. It's never been hit before.
