4.5 and 4.0 are down to 2 team races

Epic Fail Of The Week
Greenhill Peterson

Men's 4.0
A tough week-end for Greenhill Peterson - In two days going from Contender to Pretender.
Back to back losses to High Point on Saturday and Canyon Creek on Sunday have moved Greenhill into the danger zone and in jeopardy of not making the play-offs. If they do make it to the post season they are firmly in long shot status.
This week they will be looking to get back on their feet vs the other Greenhill team.
Canyon Creek has an interesting match this week vs the inconsistent Rockwall team.
And High Point Wiley should have smooth sailing over Stonebriar

Men's 4.5
Brookhaven and Tbar continue to cruise toeords their final week show down.
Greenhill and Highpoint will battle it out for 3rd place.
Greenhill still needs to play both Tbar and Brookhaven so it will be an uphill battle to say the least.

I did get confirmation that the play-offs will be a 1 day event,
With 2nd place playing 3rd place, with the winner of that match playing the first place team.
So a definite incentive to finish 1st in both the 4.5 and 4.0 divisions.

  1. Klamecki, since there seems to be an issue with getting your team scores posted promptly, can you give us a breakdown of the GH vs CC match.

    1. Look at the previous thread. It shows in there and they have a singles line left to play.

    2. Just to set the record straight, Greenhill is not "My Team" I signed up to play after the 40+ team I was trying to get together was not able to make the roster minimum by the deadline. I was going to play with Arcaria but he did not get a team together by the deadline either.
I just show up and play, so I am not privy to line ups or scores, unfortunately, I only know a handful of players on the team.

  2. Rockwall/Newman will put a thumping on Canyon Creek and show they are serious about a play-off push.

    1. Hard to do when your best players take so many unexplained losses.

      Delete
    2. Rockwall has won two matches. Both against teams that have won none. They are not a credible contender.

      Delete
    3. have you looked at the matches they have lost....very close, not just overall, but in the individual breakers they lost....i'd say just a bit unlucky, and there is no indication of tanking

      Delete
  3. it will come down to who is available to play this weekend for both teams and how they put the lines together. CC looks deeper but Rockwall could roll out a solid 5 lines if they are all available.

Interesting that some folks are playing the Bent Tree tourney over the weekend.

    1. Newman and Voss are playing Bent Tree. Looks like it could be more uphill work for Newman.

      Delete
    2. Won't be an issue...Newman-Voss lose to Fenn-Rossouw 10 PM Friday night, plenty of time to recover for a Saturday match.

      Delete
    3. Everyone is trying at CC. Rockwall's top players appear less motivated. It is amazing how much better Kingsley, Neman, Voss, Bearden and Kargel are at sectionals than they are against 40 year old players.

  4. Bent Tree is not sanctioned, it will be a miracle when Newman and Voss pull off those wins.......

  5. Newman is not getting much respect in the MOW poll. CC players are representing.

  6. I didn't know those old farts from CC even knew about the blog.

  7. LOL^. And what's up with their shorts.....guess they kept theirs from the McEnroe days.

    1. Guess you are making this a Hans blog again with the shorts comment, haven't seen any other short shorts out there.......prefer the Lifetime sleeveless look myself, intimidates all the other girly little men that don't exit the courts straight into the gym

    2. Hans hat covers more than his shorts.

  8. At present a mere 86% of people think McHugh beats Newman. How can the Somabut castoffs get so little respect?

    1. It's a farce.....it's pretty obvious that the Rockwall team has a number of players that have better records over time that most of the CC players, not to mention they have 4.5 bump-ups still using this as their last chance to play 4.0. CC only is winning the poll because we've used this site recently as "locker room fodder"....so naturally our own guys are throwing votes in the CC hat. Rockwall and HP are the favorites in this league, and even Springpark is better on paper despite that fact that we currently lead in sets won. It will be a good win if we can pull it off Saturday. Will be interesting to see if Alzuro manages to get his strongest lienup out in the battle of the Greehill teams too. -CC Player

  9. The real question is how much difference does a strong Captain make? Does having Somabut, Sisk, or Arcaria setting the lines, running practices, and confirming availability make the difference over the imates running the asylum?

All things being equal, same players, If Somabut was captain instead of Newman what would their record be?

  10. The obsession with the Rockwall team is amazing. What is with you losers? It's wierd. This is 40+ YO tennis. It's not that interesting. Was shocked to see all the comments about guys who don't even look at this blog. Keep the witty comments coming. The world awaits the next big theory on tanking and what line wil show up. I've got goose bumps.....

    1. You're here looking too aren't you, explain that or sign up as a moderator and start a new thread for 4.5, 3.5 or whatever your real interest is. True, if you aren't on one of the 4.0 teams in this league, probably sad if you're spending much time on this site.....for those that are, its just a little added incentive and adds some flavor to the otherwise bland league play in this city. Rivalaries are what draws interest in any sport, so if this blog can inspire that, all the better.

      Delete
    2. If Newman's team was not tanking the posts would be fewer.

      Delete
  11. If Rockwall wanted to beat CC they could beat CC, period. Rockwall has 3 lines that CC cannot beat. These guys on CC have never won anything, they are a pretender, but let them have their time in the spotlight for now.

    1. Want is the key word. Do they want to win or get their 4.0 ratings back?

      Delete
    2. Rockwall is easily the best team. The core of a sectionals finalist team should destroy a bunch of 40 year old has Belen's or never were players.

      Delete
    3. If they "wanted" to be 4.5's they would be playing in the 4.5 40+ league ..... hard to say why they don't want to play against players at their same skill level, just seems to be the thing that public facility players want to do (play down as much as possible, sometimes tanking just so they can).....CC and other private club players may not win as much as the gutless types that have played college tennis and then want to make themselves feel good by running the tables in 4.0 tennis leagues, but at least they have the balls to play at the most appropriate level

      Delete
    4. Wow. Now I am curious as to who the former college tennis players currently playing 4.0 are. Do tell.

      Delete
    5. CC thinks Anyone who can beat them are all former college players. They are the only real 4.0s. All other that can beat them are cheaters.

      Delete
    6. That CC statement sums it up.

      Delete
    7. "are you serious"....obviously you are, and you take this blog and dallas league tennis way too seriously....the point was a 4.5 should play as a 4.5.....i can assure you CC players generally don't give a shit.....some of you guys take yourselves and this tennis as a hobby way too literaly....maybe you don't have real jobs

      Delete
    8. It looks like at least one CC player takes this serious.

  13. Call it an Epic Fail or a Beat Down if you want, just posted the scores from the makeup match played today vs. Rockwall. Look forward to another animation Marc. They came to play and took all 5 lines. We lost all 3 3rd set breakers. I'll take the heat for the most epic fail, not managing to convert any of 5 match points I had against Lee on line 2 singles (1 at 5-4 in the second, and 4 more in the 2nd set breaker). Was even up late in the 10 point breaker, but he ultimately came back twice on me and took it 10-8. Good team when Rockwall(blended with HP) bring their best. Congrats to them, mabye they can still make a run. We're 5-1 now counting our unposted win agaings GH-Peterson, so like I've said before, HP-Wiley is the team to beat....I imaging they might be 5-0 at this point if they got this weekend's match in.

  14. Match of the Week is CC/McHugh v Springpark/Femrite? Good match. Femrite has to win to have a chance at playoffs.

  15. Predictions
    SP/Femrite v CC/McHugh - McHugh 3-2
    Rockwall/Newman v GH/Alzuro - Newman 4-1
    GH/Peterson v SB/Bell - GH 4-1
    HP/Wiley v CC/Hodge - Wiley 4-1

In the Match for not last place:
    HP/Jameson v Huffhines/Prather - Prather 3-2

    1. I know weather has been a problem but maybe those captains are trying to hide what happened. Did Wiley lose to Stonebridge/Kirk and HP/Jameson?

      Delete
    2. Seriously? You geniuses have been so good at predicting Peterson and McHugh will win it all that you should already know the outcome of these matches before they're even played. The answer to your question is no, Wiley has not lost. And who the hell is Stonebridge/Kirk? Jameson will be scheduled soon and Wiley is up 3-0 vs. Stonebriar/Bell with 2 matches to be played.

      Delete
  18. CC players just wishing Wiley would lose so they can all start chirping again about how they are the best team. You would think a 5-0 meltdown would mellow them out. At least McHugh knows how to handle it properly and classy.

  19. interesting week, as a loss by SP puts them out of the race and basically guarantees CC McHugh a spot. Next week's GH/Peterson vs Rockwall match could end up being an elimination match.

    4. They beat 3.5 bumpups. And not very good ones. Guess representing is a low bar at CC.

    1. Are you kidding me? Alzuro/Newman may be in a slug fest for almost last place. Wiley will make sure of that. I promise you that G.H., C.C., S.P. will make the playoffs before those sandbagging, tanking, ect., R.W., people get in. Hide and watch. Anons are the heart and sole of the blog, too.

  24. Peterson v Newman will be huge this week. Both are very good teams and with the right lineups could take Wiley. I think if both have their best out they are better than CC but one will have to stay home for the playoffs. This is really the playoff for the playoffs.

    MOW
    Peterson v Newman - Newman 3-2
    Others
Femrite v Alzuro - 2 good teams but both will be home for the playoffs. Alzuro 3-2

McHugh v Jameson - Playoffs vs last place. I think McHugh will try and win 5-0 and will probably do it. McHugh 5-0.

Wiley v Prather - Wiley 5-0, doesn't appear very merciful to the bottom of the league.

Hodge v Bell - 2 teams that are not in any danger of playoff pressure. Bell 3-2.

    2. Rankings are probably where they should be but it is still very close. There is no clear cut best team. Wiley has proven his team is worthy by being the only undefeated. I still think McHugh/Newman and Peterson are capable of knocking his team off. I think when Newman gets his best out, he is the best.

      Delete
  26. I think your right, Newman had to much fire power.

    1. When Newman got his best out, look what he did to McHugh. I don't think anyone else can do that.

      Delete
    2. That's what its about isn't it, getting your best out. Newman definitely got his best 8 out that match, whereas McHugh had some of his best not playing......don't get too high on Rockwall just yet, sure it was 5 - 0, but 4 of the lines could have gone either way and two of them definitely should have. Best on best, its a split decision, and mark my words, HP tops Rockwall in talent too. I'd even put my money on Greenhill in the MOW this week if I were a betting man.

      Delete
    3. I am sure you are a HP boy. The only advantage Greg has is he doesn't have to get his 8 best every week. His next 8 could finish in the top half of the league. Vince, Tim, Doug, Blake, Mark, Lee would all be in his top 8. Sorry, at playoffs, we will see who is better.

  27. Hey Rockwall boy, you ain't seen nothing yet.

  30. Best eight is a great debate but there are no assurances you can get your best eight out just because its the playoffs.

    ReplyDelete
  31. It's not just about the best 8. It's about match-ups in tennis. I think if Rockwall can get their better players out for the remainder of the season they will make the playoffs and face Wiley in the final. That will come down to who's playing better that day because the top 8 are very close.

    ReplyDelete

    1. I agree except I don't think it is close. Rockwall will beat Wiley. Their top 8 are just a bit stronger. I don't see a sweep but I see Rockwall all the way.
